Veronika woke up that morning excited to start the next lesson. She felt awful that she’d missed the last one so she spent a few days on her trip or what she’d call the “Great Wedding Spree” making outlines for her lessons. She braided her and threw it over her right shoulder. Spring was starting to come to Scotland and the trees that had lost it’s leaves were starting to grow flowers. To Veronika it was absolutely beautiful the way the colors popped against the stark grey that started to appear in the skies. The rain should have been unbearable, but Veronika found it alarmingly soothing. Especially with all that was going on with her. Since Jake had been released from St. Mungo’s she’d moved in to help him out, which she didn’t mind. In fact she loved being able to help him. She woke up that morning next to him, made breakfast and brought it to him not to mention stole a few kisses before getting dressed and ready to head to Hogwarts.

Now that she was here she had to put on her professional face. In total and complete honesty she was utterly failing as a teacher as she’d barely been able to finish her lessons and teach them something new. She felt so disappointed in herself and guilty about it, but now wasn’t the time to dawdle. She could fix it, she really could, things could get better.

Good morning,” she greeted all her students with bright eyes and a smile.  "Today will be the first day you all give your hand at actual Transfiguration."

Alberi had long ago eaten breakfast. He had woken up much early today, even for him. In fact, he hardly had any sleep last night. His mother had given him a rather nice owl explaining how Alberi was going to have a brother or a sister this summer. Though most people would be thrilled by such a news, Alberi hated it. A sibling? Why did he need one? He was fine on his own! He felt an anger towards his parents for deciding to have another kid. Couldn't they at least ask him? It would be his sibling after all. How could they be so selfish?

Because of that, Alberi went to sleep late and woke up early. Deciding to try and get his mind off of the news, he went to breakfast. Hardly anyone was up at such an hour. In fact, they could be counted on his hands. Not looking closer at the others, he went to the Gryffindor table and quickly ate some toast with butter and some eggs. Yet even as he ate, he couldn't get his mind off of the fact that had became. How could his parents do this to him...

As soon as he was done eating and frowning (though really that us what he does ever morning, though today's frown was gloomier from the rest), he went to his first class. Transfiguration. For some reason they didn't have it before but Alberi didn't really care for the reason. She didn't come, it's her problem. Even though he liked the explanation she had given them last time, this lesson still didn't seem as good as Ancient Runes.

Walking slowly, he tried to slow his time down. Though he would like to be first in the classroom, it was better to still come after the professor, after all. Sadly, even at such a walk he came rather early. On the account the boy hid behind a colon and simply waited to see the professor walk by. Happily it happened hardly five minutes later. After waiting a good five minutes more, he walked to the classroom and entered. "Good morning, professor," he said before sitting down at the front room.

Finley and Naomi ate breakfast together, but after that, they had to separate. Naomi was disappointed that she shouldn't have Transfiguration with her best friend, but it couldn't be helped, so she made her way to class anyway.

Slipping in after the Gryffindor boy that she shared most of her classes with, Naomi took a seat in the front, murmuring "Good morning," to the professor.

Though she wasn't actively looking, Naomi could tell that her classmate was disgruntled about something. She didn't mean to do it, but she found herself breathing in the pattern she usually used to See, eyes unfocussed as she stared at the blackboard. Naomi shook her head abruptly, pulling herself out of the Seeing trance she had begun to slip into. With all her practice lately, the motions only felt natural, but trying to pry into somebody's future without their knowledge was just rude.

Instead, Naomi pulled out her book and started going over the chapter they'd missed, ignoring the beginnings of a headache.

Veronika smiled brightly at her students. As much as she hated to admit it, more out of her own stubborn determination to be happy on her own, she was happy living with Jake. It had been a while since she'd had a solid boyfriend; a solid someone to rely on and go home to. Granted she didn't think that she'd have Jake to go home to so quick in their relationship, but that was the way of the world. And when he's all better, you'll be going back to your own apartment, her brain chided arrogantly. She submitted to that thought as it was true; soon enough she'd be going back to her own home. Jake wouldn't need her around after he got better, then they could go to their regular schedules for dates. Still it was nice to have someone there when she got home...

She shook the thoughts out of her head and focused on the lesson ahead.

"Now I want you to all pay attention since this is a bit advanced for my first years; this is a spell that'll turn an animal into a water goblet." She demonstrated it on the crow she had on a pedestal on her desk. From behind her desk she had several more to hand to the students once her demonstration and lecture was over. In a few more flicks she turned it back to a crow that was making irritable sounds. She narrowed her eyes but turned back to her lesson as it quieted down.

"Watch closely, and remember what your book says, tap three times sharply and cant the spell: Vera Verto." She said this first before doing it for her students. She grinned at them once the crow was turned to a water goblet. She lifted the pedestals onto her desk and opened the cage for the crows, making several whistling noises to guide them towards the pedestals. They ruffled their feathers but were calmed.

"Please take your pedestal and the crow back to the desk to preform the spell, if you've any issues please raise your hand so I may help." She gestured to show that they could do so. "They won't hurt you at all, I promise, unless you can't preform the spell correctly. If you preform it incorrectly there's no need to fret, these sorts of things happen."

Naomi watched carefully as the professor performed the spell, watching in awe as the crow turned into a beautiful goblet, then back into a crow, admittedly, a rather irritated crow.

Carefully carrying the crow and pedestal back to her desk, Naomi concentrated hard and repeated the professor's motion, pronouncing "Vera Verto," with the same inflections as she did. Her crow stretched and changed, changing into a glass goblet with the pattern of feathers pressed into it. The glass was black and one or two of the feathers might have still been real, but all in all, Naomi was proud of her first attempt.

As she studied her goblet, Naomi suddenly wondered about the crow who was now a cup. The spell didn't hurt the bird, did it? The crow Professor Hollands had used hadn't seemed very happy with the change. She raised her hand and asked the professor "Does this hurt the crows?" worriedly.

Alberi felt the girl come behind him but didn't really care. The room was pretty quiet so he could hear the girl breathing rather unusually. Usually Alberi would think she was worried for something but he didn't think of her as someone to be worried for school. Also, her breath was different from a worried one. Well, everyone had their problems... Including himself. He himself sighed, still not believing his parents... Alberi wouldn't accept that yet. They can't just have a child... He shook his head. He can't be think about that, not now. He was greatful to see that the lesson had begun.

Listening to what she explained, he watched interested as the bird turned into a vase. How easy could it be to get furniture when you are a wizard. Well, he wouldn't turn birds into that. Or any animals. But he could buy a load of, let's say pens, and turn them in. Though he would first had to see if that was even allowed in the law. And he still didn't know how long the spells actually was. But if he could, he most likely would do it.

Now was the time to do the spell itself. He did exactly as the book said - he tapped the bird three times and said “Vera Vercto,” but nothing happened. He tried again but it didn't work again. He sighed as the bird ruffled his bird. He felt a small anger. 1, 2, 3... Parents, baby... 1, 3... Wrong numbers... A small spark went out from his wand, scaring the bird for a second, making it fly up, before it returned to the pedestal. He sighed. What was with him? This never happened before... It's the stupid kid's fault! He sighed and tried to calm himself closing his eyes. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. He sighed again. Well, he was better now. He tapped the bird again, now trying to imagine the vase. His eyes were still closed. Opening them, he noticed that there was now a vase. Well, it did have a beak at the top and it was with feathers all over, but the rest was glass and in the correct form. He smiled slightly but frowned quickly after.

After helping a few more students she came around a Ravenclaw she recognized as Naomi.

“It doesn’t, the spell helps to create a haze as they go into a different state of being. Muggle Physics explains that matter, which everything in existence is made of, cannot be destroyed, it can only be transferred. So the crow isn’t in pain because it’s not dead; it’s just in a different form. Like if I were to turn into my Animagus form bow, I wouldn’t be dead; the matter in my body would change into a different shape.” She assured her and gave her a small pat on the shoulder, “excellent job,” she added with a smile before moving around to other students.

“Good job to you too, Alberi,” she said as she passed by the blonde first year Gryffindor. She felt her chest puff in pride at the fact that her students were evolving in their magical abilities.
