| With Professor Hollands now off on Maternity Leave, Daniel had had to find cover for her lessons. Or, at least, that would have been what he'd done if he'd actually remembered she was going off on leave. However, Daniel had forgotten about that, and left himself short of a professor for two lessons.
Thankfully, Professor Newbury had stepped up to fulfill one of them, and that left the other. He'd decided to run that one himself, after all, the students deserved someone willing to teach them, and a familiar face at this time would be better for them.
Putting the lesson up on the board for today, Daniel took a seat at Professor Hollands' desk, readying himself for the lesson. He wasn't bad at Transfiguration, but he knew he was no expert either.
Beetle Buttons.
Casting his eye to the clock above the door, Daniel waited patiently for his students to arrive.

| Lux made her way to the transfiguration classroom almost dragging her feet. She hated transfiguration as much as she hated runes. She didn't have a particular reason for hating it because she wasn't that bad at it and transfiguration did come in handy when she wanted to tease some of the younger students. But she hated learning it. Besides potions, transfiguration was the other subject that could lead to disastrous results.
Exhaling, Lux suppressed her irritability and managed to force out a grim smile and curt nod to the headmaster. It looked like he was taking over for Professor Hollands. She wished he'd just cancel the class.
She made her way to the back of the classroom, slouched in her chair and read the board. Beetle buttons? What, were they going to turn buttons into beetles? Beetles into buttons? If she knew she wouldn't get into severe trouble for doing so, she'd probably enlarge the beetles and laugh as the girls in the class screamed their heads off. Now, that would be fun.

| Nirek wasn't much impressed with the idea of the Headmaster taking Transfiguration lessons this term. He wanted their original teacher who was at least pretty to look at even if he wasn't very interested in the lesson. Of course, Nirek was bi, but he didn't find Professor Jameson attractive, so it didn't have the same affect for him.
But, nonetheless, Nirek pulled himself from his bed that morning and forced himself to walk down to the Ground Floor for the lesson - via the Great Hall for some breakfast, of course. Upon entering the classroom, he noted he was early and let out a soft groan, mostly to himself.
"Professor." Nirek greeted, though there was little and less enthusiasm in his words. Heading towards the back of the room, Nirek took up the seat in front of Herbology Girl, not overly interested in talking to her today, he focused on the front of the room. |

| Waiting until it seemed like he'd waited for an age, Daniel decided to get on with the lesson before him with the slightly smaller class he'd been given.
"Good morning." The Headmaster greeted the two students before him, managing a small smile in their direction. "As it seems were a smaller class this morning, I thought we would make a start, and if anyone is late, well, they'll have to catch up, won't they?" He explained, though it wasn't really necessary.
"Today we are looking at the transfiguration of beetles in to buttons, as I'm sure you'll agree, the beetles would be much more useful to us as spare buttons, as and when we need them." Daniel explained, hoping the two students would understand where he was coming from in that moment.
"So, today we will be doing exactly that." Daniel continued, levitating a jar of beetles on to each of the students desks non-verbally. "There is no incantation for this spell, so you simply need to focus on what you want to happen to the beetles, and tap the top of their bodies with the tip of your wand. Obviously, to be successful, you want a button that isn't scuttling around your desk!" Daniel joked, giving off a soft laugh. "When you're ready, please begin!" |
