Layla was terrified at what Ethan would feel or say for that matter. She had just dropped a huge bomb upon him and now he was supposed to clean up the mess that it left because somehow in her mind, that's what Ethan did, he cleaned up messes and made her feel whole.
She watched Ethan's head drop and she knew what was coming, he didn't like her that way. She averted her eyes away from him but as a frown came to his face and he lifted his head once more, she couldn't help but not look at him. Suddenly, she felt like turning back to the piano and playing just to drown out their thoughts, to fade out all the bad that was bound to happen once Ethan could actually speak to her. Such a child she was, but she never turned to the piano, she never played or sung anymore.
At his touch, she tensed a bit, her hands fitting so perfectly between his, a feeling of warm overcoming her. His touches always confused her especially since they probably thought about each other in different senses but they also had managed to be the one thing that could always calm her down. Like tonight, she had been so upset but a hug from Ethan had ceased those feelings and brought back the feelings of life and hope. They brought back the real Layla, the one that wasn't obsessed with music and making a career on how popular she could get.
His whisper tickled her face and for a moment, she gave him a small smile, but it quickly faded as she was worried what was to follow. However, when he told her that he felt the same, she looked up at him, her eyes meeting his, a smile coming to her face. "Really?" A secret relationship with Ethan sounded great, and with him everything would be worth it. If they needed to wait a bit before telling anyone, then it'd be worth it. She found herself nodding towards him, suddenly she felt fearless and free, something she'd only felt while flying with him a year before.
