Alberi suddenly grew his interest in Potions after the attack. Potions could help a lot, if not in the battle itself, but after it - healing, torturing, killing, finding information. And the boy was sure to learn anything he could that would be useful. During the attack he felt useless... And he didn't like that feeling. He didn't want to do nothing. He had no idea how to act and that might have been against him - this time he had luck but the next time he might not be that lucky. So he agreed with himself that he should be prepared. Rather safe than sorry, as he often said.

He entered the room just before the professor decided to start the lesson. Nowadays he wasn't his usual on time self. He was definitely distracted much more than usual and was always in his head, which was pretty much the same like before but not because he wished to be away from people. Making his way quickly to a free seat, he listened to what the professor told them to do. Girding potion... Well, that's something he definitely needed a lot...

Not wasting time, he immediately began to make the potion. Alberi was careful to put the correct ingredients, in the correct order. He might as well need it in the future and is was good to know what to do. Step by step he brewed the potion, sure to remember it afterwards. He watched it turned into different colours, to its final green one. This was probably one of the most colourful potions, honestly. As soon as he finished it, he left it aside and began to memorise the instructions.

When Nirek took a seat beside her, it was all Lux could do not to punch his nose in and tell him in no uncertain terms to sit elsewhere. Just because they were acquainted with each other and just because they partnered up for one herbology lesson did not mean he was her friend. Lux didn't have friends. She had people she used for her benefit and people to make life a tad easier for her. But she did not have friends.

And so when he intruded on her personal space, she held back a growl and instead gave him a curt nod. One thing was forgivable though and that was the fact that he said 'Morning' instead of 'Good morning'. She hated people who added the 'good' in front of morning. What was so good about mornings? Mornings meant that you had a whole day of classes in front of you and had to sit with a bunch of insufferable students when all you wanted to do was maybe kill a cat or two.

"Today we will be brewing the Girding Potion."

No, really? I couldn't tell Lux thought sarcastically. Extra endurance sounded quite useful though and there was no mistaking her joy when the professor said they would be brewing alone.

Lux gathered the ingredients she would need and sorted them out on her table before beginning with the first step. Turquoise? That's rather subjective, isn't it? There were different shades of turquoise. Oh well, she'd just have to use her judgement.

She carefully measured out the doxy eggs and added it in the cauldron. Pink? Now, that's subjective too. Why can't they just use black? Black was black. There were no shades of black.

Once she deemed it pink, she added the toasted dragonfly thoraxes. Another colour? Scratch that. Another two colours? There were hundreds of shades of red and about as many shades of blue. Sky blue, dark blue, navy blue. Merlin!

She added more thoraxes until the potion turned silverish then red before measuring out the doxy eggs and adding them in. She added the thoraxes again and watched the liquid turn blue. Plopping in the seahorses, Lux sat back down and waited until the potion turned green before turning off the fire.

Merlin knew how her potion turned out. With so many colours to work with, each with a million different shades, she wouldn't wonder if she created something nasty. That would just be up her alley though. The professor should have given them a visual of the shade to expect. Oh well, whatever.
