| Evelyn had already purchased her school supplies for her second year at the start of summer, however today she'd found herself wandering back into Diagon Alley because she needed more books. She had now completely finished reading all of her second year books and all of her father's books that filled the large library. He had given her a bag of Galleons and dropped her off at the Leaky before he had left for work, promising to pick her up on one of his breaks. She didn't care whether he did or not because if he didn't, it just meant she could spend more time reading through books in the book shop.
Evelyn walked down the crowded street towards Flourish and Botts all the while thinking about what sort of new books she would purchase. Her long hair flowed down her back and blended into the navy blue flowy tank top she had on. Her shirt was paired with sneakers and a pair of black jeans shorts. Her skin was dark, tanned like a goddess. Evelyn was beautiful but her intelligence often turned people away from her much like her shyness and awkwardness did.
She worked her way through the crowd, wincing every time someone brushed against her until finally, she came upon the book shop. She would enter soon but for now, she needed to just relish in the remarkable journey she was about to undergo. She slowed her breathing and peered into the window, noticing that the shop was crowded. Just as she turned to walk to the door, her body collided with the body or someone else and she found herself on the hard ground, a dull pain going through her bum as she worked to stand herself back up. This was just her luck, it always was which was why Evelyn very rarely left home or her dorm when she was at school. |

| Elenore could not have been more glad when her papa had entered Madam Malkins only a few minutes after the conversation had struck up with Tristan. Truth be told, the Slytherin boy had scared her a little with the way he spoke, as well as making her angry with the assumptions he had made about her knowledge of Hogwarts.
If there was one thing Elenore did not like, it was people belittling her because of her age. Mostly, because she was not used to this at home. She was treated like an adult almost all of the time, and that meant that she was given the benefit of the doubt on what she did, or did not know.
Elenore was talking to her papa in rapid fire French as they moved across the street, explaining how the boy had thought she was stupid and knew nothing. Her papa, Elenore had noted, looked rather amused with the idea. Passing her school list to her, Louis Clement explained he needed to go to Gringotts - Ministry business, Elenore was sure for her papa never used gold for anything - and that she should go and collect her books from Flourish and Botts so that she didn't have to wait around.
Accepting the idea, Elenore slipped in to the book shop, much too annoyed with the silly Slytherin boy to notice where she was going.
So, upon moving to the entrance of the shop, Elenore found herself being knocked off her feet by something. Falling to the ground with very little grace, Elenore let out a soft 'ouch' as she hit the floor, wincing as she moved to stand up. As if this day could get any worse!
Looking across, Elenore noted that the culprit was not a very big person, which eased her annoyance at the situation in that moment, instead a smile blossomed on her lips. "Sorry, I wasn't concentrating." Elenore explained, her French accent soft in that moment to convey that she was friendly. "Are you okay?" Elenore asked, brushing her summer dress off, and smiling hopefully at the other girl.

| Quite frankly, Evelyn was ecstatic to get to spend another day alone. While yes it would be nice to actually spend it with her father for once, she knew that was a long shot and instead enjoyed getting to be alone buying books. She knew her father wouldn't judge her for the types of books she read, but she still couldn't help but feel weird if he were to have gone shopping with her.
For being only twelve years old, the pre-teen sure had a knack for adult rated books which included anything from romance to mysteries. She enjoyed mysteries because she was intelligent enough to solve them before the characters solved them and she loved romance because it gave her an unrealistic picture of what love was like. It was like someone like her would ever find love anyways. No one wanted to date a nerd.
Sure the girl had harsh views of herself but if she didn't, then society would and it would actually hurt her. This way she could hurt her own feelings before the bullies ever could. Of course her father always told her that she was beautiful and she'd had other people tell her that she was beautiful but beauty with brains meant nothing. Nowadays boys only wanted beauty without brains. Not like it bothered Evelyn. All she need was books and chocolate and she could be a princess in her own little world. She didn't need a prince.
Though sometimes she found herself wondering what it would be like to have Prince Charming come and sweep her off her feet.
The body that hit Evelyn was small, thankfully. Had it been any larger and she probably would have a broken tailbone of something of that nature. Either way the fall had still hurt and Evelyn was sure she'd be sore for a few days because she was a weakling and had no muscle tone on her petite body at all.
Evelyn could hear the other person speak as she stood up and she just nodded. "It's okay," was the only words that tumbled from her mouth. Neither of them had been paying attention but Evelyn also wasn't moving therefore she didn't have to be paying attention. "Perfectly fine," Evelyn announced brushing off her shorts as the other girl brushed off her dress. |

| Giving herself one last check in the mirror to make sure she didn't look dirty in any manner, Elenore turned her attention back to the witch before her. She looked perfectly fine, so there hadn't been any harm made in that area. Pushing a smile on to her lips, Elenore nodded as the witch explained that she was okay.
Now, Elenore knew that she was stuck in a little bit of a predicament.
Simply walking off would have been considered rude by many, meaning that she simply could not do that, even if she wanted to. However, on the other side of that coin meant that she would have to ask the witch to join her inside. Elenore simply had to hope in that moment that she was not a feather-brained girl, because she really could do without that.
But, in that moment, a thought struck her.
"Would you like to join me inside?" Elenore asked, motioning to the bookshop. "You see, there was this boy that came up to me earlier, and he..." Elenore paused, making herself seem nervous even if she wasn't. "He was a little bit scary, and I'm quite new to Diagon Alley... would you mind terribly?" The French witch asked, before bringing her hand to her forehead in mock frustration.
"Where are my manners! I'm Elenore, by the way, and you are?" She asked, never offering her last name because she was never sure who she could trust.
