A lot of things had changed, and Tad wasn't sure if he liked it or not. Sure it was amazing, but it was a lot to take in. First, Veronika and her tool of a husband, boyfriend, fiancé, thing Jake Newbury had a child. He couldn't believe that she would marry somebody like him, let alone have an offspring with him. And then she went along and made him godfather... Tad wasn't good with children at all, so he wasn't sure why she had chosen him. Or why he was a teacher in the first place. But he had to admit one thing, they made a cute kid. If Tad where to potentially become the kid's guardian, then he needed to change his life style. Veronika needed him to live up to the expectation of a good guardian, and he was going to prove it to her, and most of all Jake, that he could be.
The next big thing in his life that had changed, was that he had gotten married himself. That surprised him more than Veronika's child. Never in a million years did he think that he would ever commit to a girl like Lettie. Just thinking about her made him smile. Since Tad hated admitting any sort of human feelings about himself or other people out loud, he had to stop smiling. But he was really happy with their situation so it was a little hard to stop sometimes. On multiple occasions, Veronika had caught him smiling when he talked about something hilarious that Lettie did, when in reality, it wasn't funny at all. It was just their sense of humor and nobody else understood the joke. That's what made married life so great.
Another thing, Tad had actually made his dream and got a book published. It was something he had been wanting to do for a long time, but his parents had told him that it wasn't socially acceptable to do so. But when his dad died, he took liberty to do the exact opposite of what he wanted, and Lettie had helped him through that. That was what attracted him to her in the first place. She made him smile in his darkest hour, and in his mind, he wanted to repay her, but in reality, he really did love her, he was just too dignified to admit it out loud. Love was a sign of weakness. He looked to Jake Newbury as an example of that.
Today had been a horrible day. He wanted to go curl up on the sofa with his wife, but he still had lessons to teach. It was days like today when he wondered why he went back to Hogwarts. But he felt lost without it all at the same time. Going back seemed like the only option. He sat in the staffroom groaning about something stupid that a student said in one of his lessons that made him want to grab a pistol and shoot himself. He looked up when the door opened hoping that it was the one of two people who could make everything okay. A smile crept a crossed his face when he saw that it was. Veronika would be his super hero for the day.
