Adaline gave Silas a soft smile when her son tugged on her pant leg and pointed towards the toy-shop, a pleading look in his blue eyes as he pulled his lower lip out into a pout.

"Mama, can we go in there?" The way the four year old spoke showed Adaline that he was slowly starting to lose his lisp that he had when he had still been learning to speak and which he had gotten back after he had realized that Kai wasn't coming back. It had been a hard choice for Adaline to tell her son that his father was dead but she knew that hiding it from him would've hurt the child more in the long run.

"Of course Silas." She took a hold of his hand and, making sure that Eliza was comfortable in her arms, her head resting on her shoulder and her beautiful locks brushing against her neck, her eyes closed and her breathing light, showing that the two year old was currently asleep though Adaline knew she would be awake soon enough when they would step into the shop -Eliza couldn't sleep through loud noises and the sound of children squealing in the shop would wake the child, she led Silas into the shop, smiling the moment Silas ran off towards the trucks and cars while Eliza's eyes slowly opened and looked around before wiggling in her mother's arms to be let down.

Adaline chuckled and did just that and she kept a careful eye on the two year old as her daughter toddled off towards the plush toys. Her children were reminders to her that Kai had indeed been alive. Twisting the engagement ring on her finger, that she still wore and refused to take off, she sent a smile heavenwards and turned back towards watching her children run around the shop; well Silas was running around while Eliza toddled quickly -at least tried to- after her brother.

Out with the kids { Open } Empty

Getting over the illness that had swept it's way through the Wizarding World had not been any easy feat, that much Victoria could attest to. It was, almost, as bad as learning to walk after her paralysis had been undone by her brother's ex-girlfriend. However, even this would not dampen Victoria's spirits. She'd grown up, a lot, that much was definitely true, but she was still the sweet youn girl she'd always been.

Now, with September almost here, Victoria had a new celebration in her life, Jake's second child was almost here, which meant she was going to be an Auntie for the second time. Secretly, Victoria was hoping for a little girl this time, so that Jake and Veronika had the perfect little balanced family. Though, she would never be swayed on her decision that her nephew, Ivan (or Ivy as Victoria preferred to call him) was her favourite. He was the most adorable child ever!

Which was exactly why she was in Diagon Alley that morning with Ivan. Quality family time was a must with the Newbury family, and Merlin knew Veronika could do with the rest given the fact she was almost ready to pop. Ivan had asked if they could look in the toy shop. Victoria simply beamed at her nephew. "Of course we can, Ivy!" She replied, opening the door for him and following him inside. "Remember that we don't touch anything unless Aunti V says so, okay?" She asked her nephew, who nodded, and pulled her along towards the cars that he loved very much.

"Look-y!" Ivan insisted a moment later, pointing towards another set of children hurrying around the store, tugging Victoria a little more.

"Go and say hello, then!" Victoria insisted, watching Ivan carefully as he hurried off towards the little boy and girl. A fond smile touched Victoria's lips before she noticed a very familiar face, which she should have noted earlier with the children. "Adaline!" Victoria almost squealed, hurrying over to her friend and giving her a warm embrace.

"I am so sorry, I have been the worst friend. How are you doing?" Victoria asked, holding her friend at arms length and taking her in. Truth be told, Victoria had heard about Kai - he was a Quidditch player, after all, and it had hit the newspaper like anything, but... what did you say to someone in these situations, Victoria, for once, did not know.

Adaline rarely had time for her friends what with taking care of the kids and looking for a job while at the same time grieving for her dead fiance. It had been a major shock when she had received the news that Kai had been in a serious accident, it had been an even bigger shock when she had been told she had to make a decision whether she wanted to keep him in a coma or pull the plug. Keeping Kai in a coma had been what she wanted to do but she knew it wasn't logical, he wouldn't wake up; his brain took too much damage and the doctors had speculated that he would be forever in a coma. So she had pulled the plug and then told her children that their father wasn't going back.

Watching her children, Adaline could say that she was happy but she would've been happier with Kai by her side however he wasn't here so she didn't let herself stray to the 'what ifs' and instead concentrated on the now. Leaning against one of the shelves, Adaline let a small smile appear on her lips as she watched the kids play with the others. Her eyes lit up in happiness when she spotted her friend approaching her with little Ivan running off towards her kids.

"Victoria!" The twenty-one year old beamed at her fellow Law student as she wrapped her arms in a return of the embrace. She had missed her dear friend but just like Adaline was mourning, Victoria was getting over the illness that she had caught. So there really hadn't been any time for either of them really.

"You have your own problems, there's no need to worry." She reassured her with a soft smile as she let Victoria take a look at her to make sure she was okay. "I'm... alright. The kids are helping though." She replied with a fond smile. "And yourself? How are you doing?"

Victoria was glad, in the least, that Adaline was happy to see her. Emotion was good - Victoria had read - when a person was grieving because it meant they had not shut down completely, and they still had space for others to come in. "It's no excuse, though, and I am so sorry!" Victoria insisted. She might have been ill, but her friend had gone through so, so much worse.

"If you need anything, though, you know where I am, okay? There will never be a time when you're not welcome at my flat. Even if it's just for ten minutes, or hours, I'm always here for you!" Victoria insisted, giving her friend a sincere look. Children were tiring enough for a short period of time, let alone when you had to have them twenty-four seven!

"I'm doing much better now, thank you! I had to build myself back up, I lost more weight than I can explain during my stay in St Mungos, and getting back on my feet was not easy, but Jake, Mom, Dad, Ivan and Veronika have been amazing." Victoria explained, looking fondly over at her nephew who was showing the car he liked to Adaline's daughter - but not touching, only pointing and showing her his favourite. "Ivan and I are having a sleepover tonight - Jake and Veronika are exhausted, bless them. They have their second child on the way. Well, nearly here. I'm hoping they get a little girl, so they have the perfect pair, just like you have!" Victoria insisted, motioning to Silas and Eliza.

"If you want to stop by for a bit - or even leave them with me for an hour or two - you're more than welcome. Ivan is great with other kids!"

"Calm down Victoria." Adaline laughed softly, putting her hands on the other girls shoulders and squeezing tightly. "It really is fine. We both messed up so let's agree to forget this and enjoy the time we have today. I doubt our kids will be leaving the play-pen in the shop anytime soon." Sure enough, when Adaline looked over to the small play-pen that the shop assistants had set up many months ago, their children were happily playing with others though naturally Eliza was only keeping close to Silas and Ivan, too shy to play with anyone else.

"You do look like you are doing better." She commented softly and looked over her fellow law student with a critical eye, nodding her head in satisfaction. "Well I'm just glad you are back on your feet now and walking around with Ivan. I haven't seen Jake or Veronika so I didn't know whether you were okay or not. I would've visited but the memory of Kai was still too fresh for me."

"...They are my most important treasures now." Adaline sighed, a slightly gloomy look appearing on her face before it quickly disappeared. No need to get depressed, all she had to do was enjoy her time with her kids. "I'm quite sure they will have a girl." She laughed softly at the eager way Victoria was talking, quite sure that if she could she would just pray to anyone and everyone that they have a girl.

"I might take you up on that offer." Adaline replied, crossing her arms over her chest, the engagement ring on her finger gleaming in the sunlight that filtered through the windows in the shop.

The insistence that it was okay made Victoria nod, pulling Adaline in to one more quick hug to settle it. "Oh, I know, Ivan is a monster for new toys, it's not as if he doesn't have enough already!" Victoria mused, smiling as she checked on Ivan who was happily showing himself around the play pen and bringing toys to Silas and Eliza to see. Ivan was, for his age, very good at sharing with others, despite not having a sibling of his own yet, and it was beautiful to watch.

"Oh, I understand that. Jake and Veronika have been busy, what with getting married, having their honeymoon, and then finding out about baby number two, it's been... well, quite chaotic in our family." Victoria explained, making sure Adaline knew it wasn't just Kai's passing that had made it hard to keep in touch. Though, of course, this was likely one of the biggest reasons for the witch not being in contact with many people, Victoria was sure.

"Though, if they have a girl... I can imagine Jake will be so protective over her. Merlin you should have seen him with me when I was younger, I never really saw it until I reflect back now. I mean, he's always loved me, always will, but he is so protective of his family. I hope he doesn't take it too far... You probably know how I mean." Victoria explained, hoping that without speaking Kai's name that Adaline would understand. Talking about Kai - remembering the good things - could only help someone who was grieving.

"Any time!" Victoria replied happily, taking note of the engagement ring, but saying nothing.

"Have you decided what you're going to do now that you've graduated from University? I've put applications in to a million places, I'm waiting to hear back from a number of places. I'm hoping for a Ministry job, though, that'll be a good starting block." Victoria continued, making sure to help her friend with some conversation that didn't revolve around the fact she was now on her own.
