Seeing you again (Max and Prim)

Over the course of the summer holidays, Prim hadn't had the chance to meet up with Max,
at all and it made the female a bit grumpy so when Hogwarts started back up she was glad for the pure fact that she could see Max again and spend some time with her boyfriend.

The reason why she couldn't meet up with Max over the summer holidays was purely because she had meetings with the Byrne's most of the time thus no chance to even see her boyfriend for even a few minutes. Meeting her uncle and the rest of the family had certainly been eye opening but it did get her to realise that she was now involved in this world.

Making her way down to the common room from the girl's dorm, she made her way towards the couches by the fireplace, her head leaning back as she sat down on the couch and breathed a sigh of relief. Being in her fifth year now, Prim was mostly swamped with OWL work which meant not enough time to actually socialize with anyone.

Max's summer had been a dull affair. His parents weren't especially helpful to him with the list of things he'd wanted to do. And instead of giving him a hand, they'd left him much to his own devices over the summer. Primrose was busy with some family stuff that Max didn't really understand, and Elyah had gone away with her dad somewhere exotic. Elleon, well, Max wasn't sure how to broach the topic of wanting to have his deaf friend over when his parents weren't around, and doubted that would be acceptable for Elleon's parents.

Instead, Max had wasted his summer with researching more magical animals. Wondering which ones he could take to be pets. Buckle had, somehow, found his way in to Max's trunk on the way home, and Max had had his Bowtruckle at least, to keep him company.

It was his letter over the summer, though, that denoted his picking for being a Prefect that had made Max's brow rise quite high. They thought he was a good choice to look after the student body? He wasn't entirely sure how, and his parents had made their own opinions on the subject quite well known. Therefore, the badge currently resting on his chest was not one he was quite sure he deserved.

Heading down in to the common room in the hopes of finding Prim, Max's features grew in to a grin as he crossed over to her and sat down beside her, arm going around her shoulder. "Hey Prim! Good summer? Did you see the news?" He asked, pointing to his chest that sported his Prefect badge. "Seems like the think I'm good enough to run this show!" He joked with a soft laugh, though, in truth, Max wanted to hear that someone thought this was a good idea.

The letter that she received that summer from Hogwarts had certainly come as a surprise for Prim, purely because it had contained something that she wasn't quite sure she was ready for but she certainly hadn't minded. A prefect badge.

The shiny badge rested on her breast and made her scrunch her nose up as she stared at it dubiously.
Whose bright idea had it been to make Prim a prefect she didn't know but she certainly wasn't going to complain, especially since it wasn't as if Prim wasn't happy about it.

She was startled out of her thoughts when her vision was overtaken by the smiling face of Max, making a smile bloom on her own face as she leant forward to steal a quick kiss from Max before snuggling into the male's hold.

"Hey, Max." She hummed softly as she wrapped her arm around the male's waist. "Of course I heard the news and I have seen your new badge." She smiled at him. "...Of course, you're good enough to be a prefect. Many people like you, Max, why shouldn't you be good enough to be a prefect?" She questioned him while blinking her eyes in confusion.

Max smiled in to the kiss that he received from his girlfriend, relishing momentarily in the softness of her lips that he'd missed over the summer break. The kiss was pulled short, though, and Max instead focused back on the witch before her and the words coming out of her lips.

The Gryffindor's smile only grew, though, when Primrose insisted that he would be good as a Prefect. That, was enough to make him a little more confident in the role he'd been given by the professors. Though, now, he had to answer his girlfriend's question of why he had thought otherwise to begin with.

"My parents... didn't think I'd make a good prefect." Max explained, before giving a small shrug of his shoulders to show he wasn't completely affected by these words. "They don't think I have the concentration to do it well." He added, more of an after thought than anything else, but he didn't really know why they were thinking of it in that manner.

It was in that moment that Max looked down slightly, noticing a slight shine out of the corner of his eye, to find Primrose had a badge just like his. "You got prefect too? Awesome! This means we can patrol together! And, you know, sneak out on the assumption we're prefects doing a job! I've been thinking about that since I got it. I'll be able to be out in the grounds now!" Max told her with a grin. He knew that this was... maybe a little naughty, considering what they were supposed to be doing. But Max had animals to attend to!

Prim had missed Max very much over the summer but the time that she had spent with her Uncle and his family had been something that had taken most of her time up purely because she had wanted to know just what kind of family she was related to; she knew her father was a wanted felon who had deserted the Byrne's for America and left her in England at the tender age of four but that had been pretty much it, the books that Chris had given her had been eyeopening but that had been nothing when compared to the first hand knowledge she had gained from her uncle and her cousins.

"Well, you will make a good prefect, don't listen to anyone tell you otherwise." The brunette told him as she closed her eyes and rested her head on her boyfriend's shoulder, her hand finding it's way to Max's and locking their fingers together. "To be a prefect doesn't necessarily mean you have to have concentration... Most people forget that Prefects are really just people who are liked by the student body and find them more approachable than Professors."

At those words, Prim blinked her eyes before a soft giggle left her lips at the enthusiasm that Max was speaking with. "And I'll be there to make sure that you actually don't get in trouble with the Professors for sneaking out." What she meant by that is that she would be the look out for Max and if there was a Professor they could pretend to be snogging in some place.

"I'm not sure the professors got the liked by the student body quite right either." Max said, but the chuckle that escaped his lips showed that he wasn't really too hung up on that point. "I'll be the best prefect I can be, and... well, that's just going to have to be enough." Max replied in the end, deciding not to dwell on it too much. Prim believed in him, that was more than enough.

"You underestimate my sneaking abilities." Max joked as her hand found his. He gave it a small squeeze of affection, before really turning his attention to Primrose.

"So, what kept you busy over the summer?" Max asked his girlfriend. He wasn't completely put out by not having seen her over the whole period, but he was curious to know what had occupied so much of her time. "Did the Byrne's lock you away and lose the key until September First?" Max teased her softly, because he didn't really fully understand the situation she was in.

"You will do fine Max." Prim reassured her boyfriend with a soft smile upon her lips as she snuggled even further into him, her eyes closing in content as she relaxed for the first time in quite a while; with what had happened over the summer and being back at Hogwarts in the first week Prim rarely had any time to actually just sit down and relax.

"No, you underestimate the Professors being able to sniff out rule breakers." Prim laughed softly as she squeezed his hand back, a fond smile on her lips. Being with Max really was soothing and Prim did enjoy all of this.

"No, they didn't lock me away." Prim shook her head in amusement as she looked up at Max. "They just kept me busy with learning all that pureblood crap... I am a Byrne now after all and I need to learn some of the protocols and customs... I may not be the daughter of the Head but I am his niece."

It was something that Prim still didn't really get but over time, hopefully, she would be able to understand what it meant for her and her life; Chris had warned her this would happen and Prim was pretty much aware that she would be dealing with all this Pureblood stuff from now on. It was all a nasty headache.

Prim's assurances that he would do alright made Max smile kissing the top of his girlfriend's head with a soft murmuring of the words 'thank you'. It helped him, quite a bit, to know that someone did believe in him when he couldn't always do that himself. It was not an easy feat, of course, but he appreciated it.

"No, I know they're not very good at catching me! Except Professor Jameson... he seems to know when I've snuck out. It's in his eyes. But he doesn't really say anything, which I don't really understand..." Max explained, before giving a casual shrug. "And, you underestimate my ability to come up with a convincing story." He added with a grin, because fooling teachers wasn't really very hard at all.

"Are you allowed to say crap? I thought ladies had to say nice words, like poopy,
or... I don't know... what is another word for it?" Max asked, obviously teasing his girlfriend in that moment. "So, what protocols and customs did you learn about? Are you even allowed to be sat cuddling with a-" Max paused to gasp, still obviously teasing. "-Halfblood like me? Aren't proper ladies supposed to marry gentlemen?"

The softly murmured 'thank you' made Prim smile as she enjoyed the kiss on the top of her head before she tilted her head up and questioning looked at Max to silently ask for a kiss on the lips; she missed her boyfriend after all and his kisses as well.

"Well... That's true I suppose." She chuckled softly, an amused glint in her eyes. "And Professor Jameson is an entierly different matter, being the Headmaster he needs to know where everyone is at all times." Not to mention Prim had actually heard that the Headmaster had control over the wards at Hogwarts so that probably helped him in finding errant students as well. "Nah, I'm not underestimating it, I just wouldn't want my boyfriend to end up in detention or losing his prefect badge because he was being naughty."

"As long as I don't say it around any 'respectable' pureblood then it's fine." She huffed in annoyance, her nose scrunching up at the thought of acting like a pureblood lady when around any pureblood who knew the Byrnes'. "How to act like a pureblood lady, how to be a perfect hostess... Stuff like that... Not like I'll need any of that yet..." She grumbled before she smacked the back of Max's head. "Just because my uncle acknowledged me as a Byrne doesn't mean that I'll suddenly be all prim and proper you know..."

The kiss he'd placed on Prim's head hadn't really meant to inspire more kisses. Not that Max minded, of course, but he was quite a simple boy, intent with little signs of affection, and never asking for more than that. So when Primrose had turned to him, looking for another kiss - this one on her lips - Max was more than willing to oblige, leaning down and pressing a kiss to Prim's lips and holding it.

He'd definitely missed her lips against his, and the summer away had not been easy, at all.

Max ended up laughing softly as Prim spoke of him losing his badge for being naughty. "That would be pretty ironic, I suppose..." Max mused, shrugging his shoulders a little at the thought of it. "I'll do my best not to, though. The bathroom is way too awesome to lose out on!" Max insisted, giving a small nod to show he was quite serious about that point.

"That sounds... so boring! We could have had so much more fun!" Max insisted upon hearing what Primrose had spent the summer doing, his nose turning up a little at some of the ideas. The idea of Prim being all ladylike wasn't really an idea that he liked very much. He liked her just the way she was, as Prim.

The smack, though, made Max wince, his hand going up to rub the assaulted area. He was laughing, though, at hearing Prim and proper being used. "But, that's your name!" Max teased her lightly on that point, looking very happy with himself for making that joke.
