As Mimosa pulled away from him, Nikolai tried to follow, though with his given stance it was not an easy feat. Mimosa's 'wait' only made him try a little bit harder in trying to get to the target, though, not wanting her to talk, because the minute she spoke all of this would be ruined.
Which was Nikolai's mistake.
The boy hadn't thought past the part where his whole balance was keeping both of them up. That, putting strain on the leg that was maintaining said balance would inevitably lead to them toppling over, or hurting themselves. The only thought had been to kiss Mimosa before she put a stop to this.
That had been how both of them had ended up toppling sideways, Nikolai's legs not being strong enough to both hold Mimosa, and correct his over stretching stance. Nikolai had tried to stop it, he really had, but as they both fell sideways, Nikolai's arm landing on top of Mimosa in the process, he knew he'd tried much too hard to get what he wanted. Mimosa had pulled something over in their fall, causing a large sound to emit from the room.
Groaning slightly as he took in the mess they'd made, Nikolai looked back to Mimosa. Tears welled in the witch's eyes, and she cradled herself where she lay on the floor. "Are yo-"
The door was opening, and Nikolai's hand quickly moved to right Mimosa's skirt as the door opened, bringing it back down to where it had been before they had entered the empty classroom. Past that, Nikolai had not made to get up himself, knowing that it would truly give away everything that had been going on, even if it wasn't already vastly obvious from the redness of Mimosa's lips and neck.
"Are you guys okay?"
Mimosa's insistence that they fell was not a story that was going to go over well, and Nikolai grimaced slightly.
"Just practicing some spell work, went a little wrong. Don'-"
"Headmaster's son is a bit of a liar!" Peeves' voice rang from the back of the room, making Nikolai's head zip back to the poltergeist. "Totally shocked the poor little friar! Peeves did come to see what was happening, but it all ended up a little bit frightening!"
Their friends had the sense to look confused, and Nikolai let out a sigh as he got to his feet, using Mimosa to block all view of his current predicament. But Charles' eyes returned to the pair, and a slow grin crossed his features. "You guys..." His finger pointed from one to the other, then made a face.
"MIMOSA AND SQUID BOY SITTING IN A TREE! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Peeves cackled, before hurrying towards the front of the room. "You wait until daddy knows, or... oh ho ho, the school!"
Nikolai's features had gone white by this point, but the poltergeist was long gone. Pursing his lips slightly, Nikolai tried to decide what to do, before catching the tear marks upon Mimosa's cheeks. "I have to get Mimosa to the Hospital Wing, make sure she's alright." The boy explained, putting his arm around the younger witch and leading them past their friends. He would, too, but only by leaving her outside the hospital wing before he headed away from the witch, not wanting a lecture from the mediwitch for something he hadn't done.
