Wandering (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Wandering (Jacques)   Wandering (Jacques) EmptyMon Jan 30, 2017 3:43 pm

One thing that Violet had always struggled with was fighting off boredom. She supposed that it boiled down to the fact that she had never found interest in things that other people her age had. A lot of time, this lead to her just walking, thinking.

She had come to realised that she enjoyed the times when she caused chaos- she figured it was something to do with the adrenaline rush. Sadly though, with the exception of the attack on Hogwarts the year before, she hadn't had a chance to experience something so exhilerating like that since. And she was quickly becoming bored again- having nothing to do.

She found herself bored with school, finished with her homework- and with nothing else to do but to wander a bit aroound the grounds- perhaps finding something that she hadn't before, anything really that might spark her interest for any amount of time would do.

Wandering (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wandering (Jacques)   Wandering (Jacques) EmptyMon Jan 30, 2017 8:51 pm

Things were heating up a lot in the Wizarding World. The newspaper was in clear evidence of that much, but the more telling signs for Jacques were how the linguistic talents of his mother's usual letters became increasingly shorter and shorter as the days went on. She was stressing - which could only mean her husband, Jacques father, was spending less time in Versailles, and more time in the office at Paris.

Keeping order in the country.

Elenore didn't seem troubled, which led Jacques to believe she hadn't read between the lines. Though, discussing politics with his sister was the last thing Jacques wanted to do. Ellie... well, she was definitely a much more physical kind of company, and he doubted the Gryffindor was capable of thinking about things like potential wars.

The only person Jacques knew to like them was a tapped in the head Hufflepuff. Self-preservation would tell you to keep away from your enemies, but Jacques knew you kept the most dangerous people close to you. It kept you safe. Which was why, for once, the Frenchman was out looking for someone, and not waiting for someone to find him.

The grounds, people had last seen the witch, and Jacques had made his way down. Not too quickly, no, he didn't want to look eager. But not so slowly that he was wasting his time. It took a short while to locate the Hufflepuff, and a few moments longer to pick an opportune moment to get in to stride with the witch, but eventually, Jacques was walking alongside Violet Lynch as if it were nothing out of the ordinary.

"See you didn't have much taste for the new Herbology professor." Jacques stated. A conversation starter, not one of interest. But a foot in the door.

"See you didn't have much taste for the new Herbology professor."

Violet glanced up, nonplussed to see the Slytherin boy from the night of the attack talking to her. She found it odd because people rarely did talk to her, and almost never sought her out to talk.

"He's weak, he makes it all too easy to mouth off at him," she gave a simple shrug as she continued her walk, "See you didn't have much taste for that Ravenclaw girl," she replied. She'd heard his remark to the girl,it was funny. And no, she really didn't care, only bringing it up as he'd bought up Herbology in the first place.

She found it hard to believe, however, that he'd walked over to her simply to talk about the new Herbology teacher. They hadn't spoken since the night of the attack, so why was he choosing to now?

"So," she said, stopping her pace and turning to face him "When did we ever talk? What did I do to make you grace me with your presence?" she cut straight to the point, not being a fan of small talk.

Wandering (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wandering (Jacques)   Wandering (Jacques) EmptyTue Jan 31, 2017 9:20 pm

"I'm not fond of girls who make it easy." Jacques responded, the word it leaving what he meant quite open. Jacques was not the kind of man who liked a woman presenting herself with such ease, and he was not afraid to tell a girl that she was being easy either. "She got off lightly." He added, because there were a million and one things that he could have said, but he hadn't wanted a sobbing child clinging to him.

The no nonsense tones of the Hufflepuff witch made Jacques smile to himself, walking off to the bench not too far from them and taking a seat. The grounds seemed pretty empty for now, and this was a good vantage point to see anyone coming.

"We don't talk. This isn't idle chit chat. Sit." Jacques told the witch. He appreciated the straight forward talking of the witch, so he would give her the same courtesy. "I'm sure you've seen the papers," Jacques commented, his eyes scanning the grounds and not looking to the witch. "Things are getting... difficult. I wondered if you knew anything more than the papers."

He didn't need to spell out that he knew she was part of that group. The fact she was not in Azkaban was because he'd kept his mouth shut. Hopefully she would read through the lines, and not try to argue that he had no business in knowing. She'd allowed it to become the business when she'd let him walk away from her the night of the attack. And now Jacques had leverage to get what he wanted.

Needed.

Wandering (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wandering (Jacques)   Wandering (Jacques) EmptyWed Feb 01, 2017 12:56 am

At least he didn't beat around the bush with what he wanted to know. She remained standing and glanced around behind her quickly, to make sure no one else was close enough to hear. Thankfully, no one was. So, he wanted information. She liked that he didn't beat around the bush, and got straight to the point.

She had entered tricky territory. He'd kept quiet about what he'd seen on the night of the attack- but with things getting more intense, she needed to be far more careful, especially with what she said, especially to him. She recalled him mentioning his father being in the ministry in France.

She remembered something he'd said on the night of the attack and replied "Things have become difficult,"- the group was becoming much more active, with break-ins, kidnappings etc, all to push forward the group's agenda- "but I thought your family was too poweful to be cowering before them," she added. She assumed that he wanted information for his family at least, considering his father's work.

Truth was, she knew what higher up in the group thought she needed to know. She supposed that was the smart way to do it- the less people that knew, the less likely plans would slip out. She knew what they were looking for, but not much of what they'd do when they found it.

"They're tight-lipped about plans, even to their own followers," she added, "Purely a need to know basis," purposefully keeping her words ambiguous.

She had thoroughly enjoyed helping to create chaos, but if it ever boiled down to saving her own skin or helping the people causing all the issues, she'd choose herself.

Wandering (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wandering (Jacques)   Wandering (Jacques) EmptyTue Feb 07, 2017 7:23 pm

Eggshells. This was the British term for it. Walking on eggshells. The girl beside him was doing that. Tentative. Playing safe. Trying to make herself look much more composed. Had Jacques not been taught to read people almost from the moment he'd been able to read, write and talk (knowing what he was saying) he'd been taught to read people. It was something that was a must.

Not hiding the amusement on his lips, because Violet was not fooling him, Jacques simply allowed her the moment in which she tried to berate him for his questions because his family didn't cower. "Do you see me cowering?" Jacques replied calmly. She was not winding him up, he was merely making a point because she couldn't find one. "Information is power, Miss Lynch. I wouldn't expect you to understand that. I'm not here for my family. I'm here for me. The Greater Good. Whichever makes you sleep sounder at night."

The Hufflepuff witch, however was being tight lipped, and Jacques was growing tired of her games. Letting out a disappointed sigh - he was sure she wasn't so stupid as to not pick up on this much - Jacques stood from his momentary refuge on the bench. "It seems you've lost your use to me, then. Which means... you can be disposed of." He decided, he knew Slytherins to be quite self-preserving, now, he would see if the same was true of Hufflepuffs.

Wandering (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wandering (Jacques)   Wandering (Jacques) EmptyMon Feb 13, 2017 1:45 pm

She crossed her arms, raising her eyebrow as he spoke. His tone was so condescending, and that was something that Violet didn't appreciate at all. So much so that she had to refrain from rolling her eyes. He seemed to have such a grandiose view of himself- it made her blood boil. But, she wouldn't let him know that, of course.

"I understand the value of information," she replied when he was done "And so does the Nightshade... Hence the reason that information flow is a trickle, not a storm..."

She thought for a moment. Disposed of. Yes, he had her cornered. She had two options- lash out and risk retalliation, or compromise. She quickly realised the gravity of the situation she was in. She should have been more careful... Now was not the time for regrets though. She'd use it as a learning experience.

She sighed "Do what you will with this information," she started "Just don't make it known that it was me that told you," she paused for a moment "Keep an eye on your family vault," she finally said, reluctantly "They're targeting people and places that might possibly have powerful items," she considered whether or not that it was the swords of power "You won't have to worry much until they have what they're looking for. Happy?" she certainly wasn't. Though she forced her face to remain neutral. She needed to up her game, quite a lot.

Wandering (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Wandering (Jacques)   Wandering (Jacques) EmptySat Feb 18, 2017 10:50 am

Jacques listened to the witch's insistence that she understood the value of information, but gave no comment in return. He doubted very much that a woman could understand such a concept, especially one who had allowed herself to be caught so easily with information that could destroy her. However, Jacques would allow her to believe what she wished, even if it was a dangerous ideology to keep.

His poke at her being easily disposed of brought a glint of smugness to Jacques eyes. It was rather easy to play some people, and he was very much enjoying the power the words had given him. Listening to her explain that he should keep an eye on the family vault, Jacques considered the witch for a moment. Powerful objects... well, it wouldn't take a genius to work out that the Clements would have old, powerful objects.

But which ones were they after?

"That wasn't so hard, now, was it?" Jacques commented to the witch, smirking at her. "Until I need you again, then." He finalised, striding away from the witch without another word. The information was useful, he just had to work out how useful.

PostSubject: Re: Wandering (Jacques)   Wandering (Jacques) EmptySun Feb 19, 2017 1:59 pm

Violet had never wanted to wipe the smirk off of someone's face more than she wanted to at that very moment. It took quite a lot of will power not to draw her wand and cast crucio at the boy as he was walking away. But she wouldn't allow herself to drop to attacking a retreating opponent.

She'd have to be more careful the next time. Though, to her credit, she had managed to remain rather vague. Powrful items could be anything. The swords of power included, but with such a wide variety of item to choose from... It would take a while to narrow it down to the swords. Now, all she had to do was hope that the Nightshades wouldn't let on what they were looking for specifically. She would think the best way would be to confuse the tabloids- even taking things that they didn't need to throw them off, until they had what they needed.

She watched him stride away, her fists clenched. A slow-burning anger washed over her- settling in the pit of her stomach. She wasn't happy, and she wasn't going to let herself be caught in such a position again
