| A hooded figure stepped in to the local branch of Borgin & Burke that was located in Hogsmeade village. A mask covered the figure's face, leaving it completely shrouded in mystery as to the identity of the person. No hair fell out from beneath the hood, and now part of the body gave away whether they were male or female. Whether Polyjuice Potions had been used, only the figure would ever know.
The figure was, once again, in search of a particular object.
The one within the school had not been taken from the headmaster, but another... much similar to the first piece, had been rumoured to be moving through Hogsmeade, and in to the school. They only had to get this one... power would be exemplified... the school would be vulnerable again...
"The sword..." The voice of the figure was neutral. The shop keeper looked up. Panic took place of curiosity as the shop keeper took in the figure before him.
"I d-don't..."
"You have the sword. Hand it to me, and I will spare you."
"I can't..."
"Then you leave me no choice!"
The Bombardment spell that the figure had used was ricocheted of an invisible protection spell which expelled the figure from the shop - through the window - and skidding across the very busy street of Hogsmeade. It was a trip weekend for the students, a perfect cover than the usual quietness of the street.
Alarms were wailing, though, all through the street.
The sound of apparating filled the figures ears.
Aurors.
Gasps rose up. More sounds of apparition sounded. The light of many different spells flew past. Screams went up. Had the figure not been masked, a smirk would have been visible by all. Chaos was about to ensue. And with it, confusion.
They would have the sword today and as many Aurors as they could take in the process, as well. |

| Coming out of the local stationary shop, Prim had been just getting ready to head to the Hogs Head where she had agreed to meet up with some of her friends when the blaring alarms had startled her and instantly she had been on her guard.
The first thing she did was pull out her wand and fire off a protection spell at some of the third years who had been thrown to the floor due to some bombardment spell being thrown in their general direction. The next thing she did was boot the masked person in front of her before slamming her fist into their stomach, listening in satisfaction to the grunt that escaped the person before they collapsed in dead-faint when she elbowed the back of their neck, forcing them into unconsciousness.
The fourth year Gryffindor was proving that her DADA scores were nothing to scoff at, and even though she was using only Fourth Year and below spells she was actually showing that she was very proficient in them, and that she was no stranger to fighting or brawling as she moved through the throngs of people, shooting off spells while at the same time knocking some of the attackers unconscious, her martial arts training kicking in.
Prim ducked under a green coloured spell and with a growl of anger, she swivelled to the left and glared at her attacker that tried to kill her just then. She may be a Fourth Year and at the top of her class in DADA but she wasn't about to actually risk fighting someone who shot of deadly spells so the girl only did the one thing that Matilda had taught her about fighting someone dangerous.
When you're fighting someone who's dangerous and could kill you easily, go for speed Prim. The older girl had said as she sat with Prim at a local park. You're fast, scarily so, and you have a lithe and slim body. Slip through their defence and go for their weak points. The back of their knees, their Achilles Heel and their spine. Use a knife or some sharp object if you have to. You don't want to fuck with those type of people Prim, so don't be scared about being deadly. It's your life that you're fighting for.
And just like Matilda's teachings, Prim went for speed that time. Running and diving around the flying spells, the girl dived under her attacker's legs while at the same time snapping her hand back and shoving the quill that she had in her hand, the one she had bought at the shop, into the person's Achilles Heel before she literally bolted out of there, diving behind a wall to take a breather.
She wished in that moment that she had stayed at Hogwarts that day. |

| Lux roamed the aisles of Borgin & Burke, her eyes taking in all the different items available. This shop was probably her favourite in the whole world. She'd gotten some good stuff here like a few human bones, and a jar of blood magically enhance to never dry up or clot, and often came to see what was new. She had just stopped at a shelf holding torture devices when goosebumps rose on the back of her neck.
She knew that feeling.
Ever so subtly, she peeked through the shelves to see a hooded figure at the door. Re-positioning herself silently to get a better look, Lux's eyes widened as she noticed that he, she? wore a mask. Lux, having lived in slums and the not-so-safe areas, knew that masks bore no good tidings. It was always accompanied with gunfire, robberies, and of course, murder.
The person demanded A sword? He wants a sword? She knew there were swords aplenty in this shop. The sword, Lux. He said the sword. Before she knew what she was doing, she'd cast a protection spell on the shop keeper - poor thing probably couldn't defend himself - and watched as the figure flew through the window from the impact his spell had on the shield.
As the alarms sounded, Lux bounded through the door, yelling over her shoulder to the shop keeper, "You can thank me later!"
The moment she stepped onto the street, Lux was greeted by chaos and confusion. People were running, and screaming to the high heavens, aurors did their auror-ing... and there was a Gryffindor fourth year who thought herself capable of fighting. She hadn't seen a thing Lux could do with - or without - her wand. Fighting was etched into her genes. Ever since she was born, she fought to survive, fought to conquer, and never lost. Not hesitating a moment longer, Lux dived into the fray, shooting off spell after spell, a maniac I'm-going-to-kill-everything-and-everyone smile on her lips, and bloodlust in her eyes.
"Take that, you fly-bitten scum! And that, beslubbering mangy dogs!" Her diabolical laugh filled the air. "Stand up and fight me, cowardly warts!"
Her strength wasn't in raw power but in intellect and sharpness. She could read her prey as easily as ABC, and she had her own bag of underhanded dirty tricks she pulled to get the upper hand. Her strength lay in being unpredictable.
As her spells hit home, her lips curled in savage glee, thoroughly enjoying bringing devastating death to those who opposed her. |

| Elleon strolled along the street, enjoying the wintry sun and the rare weekend off. He'd been cooped up in his room, trying and failing to concentrate on studying when the outdoors beckoned him. It didn't take long for him to close his textbooks, shrug on a jacket and head outside for fresh air. He knew he had to study hard to get through the year but taking breaks were important too. Or at least, that's what he told himself.
He'd asked Jelena if she'd wanted to come along but she had a test to study for. Though he understood she couldn't come, he'd been disappointed. He barely got time to spend with her and he missed her company. It was tough trying to get by without Jelena, but Elleon painted and sketched his loneliness away.
He stopped by a food vendor, buying a few snacks by pointing out what he wanted. Just as he took a bite of the hotdog, savouring it with relish, he spotted people covering their ears with their hands. Furrowing his eyebrows in confusion, he watched as figures began appearing out of nowhere, some with wands at the ready and some who looked like they were on a mission for evil.
People were running with their mouths open in what Elleon assumed was a scream. Spells were flying everywhere, the multiple bursts of colour hurting his eyes which darted around, trying to figure out what was happening. For the first time in his life, he wished her could hear what was going on. He felt bewildered, with no clue what had just happened. Then he thought he saw Prim and was just going to approach her when a figure appeared before him, dressed in a mask and hood.
Elleon dropped everything, his long forgotten hotdog falling to the ground with a splat - not that he could hear it splattering - and ran for his life. His legs worked to carry him to safety as he kept his head low, hoping to Merlin that he wouldn't get hit by any spells. His hope did not last long. His body was thrown to the ground from the force of being hit on the back of his right shoulder. Excruciating pain vocalised itself in the scream that left his mouth and the tears that ran down his cheeks.
People stampeded beside him and Elleon curled his fingers instinctively, protecting them from the foot falls that came close to crushing him. He got to his knees breathing through the pain but could barely crawl to the side walk. Before he could move another inch, he felt his body being lifted into the air and tossed not so gently to a corner, safe from the crowd running by.
Concerned brown eyes looked into his and through the haze of his pain, Elleon made out the words you okay? He nodded. The other person said something else but turned away too fast for Elleon to see his words. He curled up in his corner, groaning in pain as he watched the aurors fighting the intruders, wishing everything would just end so he could go home. |

| Violet knew of the rumour of the sword being moved through Hogsmede. And she knew what the Deadly Nightshade's were looking for. What she was actually surprised about was that the collection of the sword happened to coincide with a school trip to Hogsmede. She happened to be loitering near the shop, considering going in to scope it out- maybe see if the sword was physically there.
She had just finished a cigarette, pushing herself up from the wall that she leant on, she started to walk toward the door. That was when a hooded figure shot out the window to her right. The glass shattered violently, and suddenly there were alarms wailing, and the sound of cracking as figures- aurors and other hooded nightshades appeared in the street. It all happened so fast- spells fired- stunning, killing...
Violet couldn't help that feeling- butterflies fluttering in her stomach- looking at the scene playing out before her. She didn't let it show on her face- to others, she looked like any other student- shocked, scared- she had found her facial expressions becoming easier and easier to master.
She thought for a moment- what course of action would she take? Her thoughts were fleeting, half-formed- she needed to be quick, subtle... People were busy fighting on the streets, the question was, how long would it take for anyone to even think of entering the store? Both sides were busy fighting... And she didn't have a mask, if she were caught, she could act as though she was hiding... It could be a chance to prove herself valuable- to both sides, depending on who asked.
She glanced around quickly before pushing the door open, making sure to close it behind her, taking her wand from her pocket as a precaution.

| It was a normal day, really, for Max. He'd been down to the Forest in the morning to check on his Bowtruckles, especially with the snow being here, he needed to make sure they weren't getting to cold. After that, he'd gone back up to the castle for some food, before heading down to Hogsmeade.
He had plans to meet up with Prim later that day - Elyah had been ignoring him since term had recommenced, for reasons he didn't yet know.
The walk wasn't too bad, with his coat pulled up around his neck, Max was in his own little world all the way to the Magical Menagerie. He'd spent nearly an hour looking through the wares of the shop, and discussing magical beasts with the shop owner - who had given him some good tips on how to find the Acromantulas in the forest.
Armed with this new knowledge, and some treats for both Freddo and his Bowtruckles, Max had stepped back in to the street trying to decide what to do next. Perhaps some sweets to tide him over until he got back to the castle... though the e-numbers would play havoc with Max's energy levels...
The sound of glass smashing brought Max to his senses, looking around wildy for a moment until his eyes found the antique shop with the front completely smashed. The wailing of alarms filled the air, and Max clapped his hands over his ears to try to block the awful sound out.
People were beginning to run in all directions, and Max's eyes were darting around for an idea. He came up short, though, until he saw someone being lifted and thrown across the street. Following the path, Max saw someone go up to the boy, and then move away. The boy stayed still, though, and Max knew this was not a time for playing sitting duck.
Hurrying through the crowds, Max came to the side of the boy - Elleon he now knew on closer inspection. "Hey. Come on. We gotta move!" Max told him, making sure to look directly at the boy so he could see his lips. The sound of something hitting the building in front of them made Max's words more urgent as he took out his wand and cast a very panicked shield charm. "Come on." Max insisted, trying to get the other boy to move so that he could help to support the weight. Get Elleon moving. Get him safe. |

| As Christmas got closer and Humphrey noticed a Hogsmeade weekend approaching he knew that he would have to go. He'd been procrastinating on getting gifts and he rightly recognized this as probably his last good opportunity to find some unless he wanted to beg his parents for a last minute trip to Diagon when Casey and him got back. Humphrey woke up and bright and early on the day of the trip and mad sure to bundle himself up warmly, his black and yellow scarf wrapped firmly in place as he started walking down after breakfast.
Once he arrived he decided to do the easy things first, and got Casey some sweets and a few pranking items he was sure she'd find a good use for. Sure, Humphrey ran the risk of her using them against him, but he had a fully stocked arsenal with which to retaliate if she did. For his dad and mum he ended up going to Gladrags, and got his dad a few pairs of silly socks as well as some nice ties. He hadn't really thought too much about what his mum might like, and just browsed a little before he found a sky blue scarf and a hat that he was sure she would love, so he also got those. Now that his shopping for his family was done he tried to think who else he wanted to get something for. The only person that came to mind was Naomi, but he had absolutely no idea what to get her.
Eventually, after racking his brain for about ten minutes he smacked himself in the head. "Idiot, you know she's always cold. Get her something to keep warm." he said to himself. Humphrey found a nice sweater that he debated getting, before he realized he had no idea what size she wore. After a while of searching in vain he asked for help, and the shopkeeper told him they actually had some blankets at the back. Going to look them over, he thought most of them didn't really look like anything she would use and was about to give up when he noticed a black one at the back with little green and silver snakes stitched into it. Smiling widely, he ended up getting it for her, adding it to his things after the shopkeeper folded it neatly for him. "Thanks for the help." he said with a smile.
As Humphrey was exiting the shop he noticed the first spells being flung and the resounding crashes and small explosions caused from the impacts. Before he knew what was happening he saw Aurors and people with masks battling in the streets. He'd done fairly well in his defense classes, but the truth was he didn't know that many spells that could actually inflict damage. He cast a few simple protego spells to protect himself before firing a few stunners. Once he'd done that, he ran and tried to get out of sight. The only person he'd seen that he knew was Lux Bailey, but he'd seen her acting and faintly heard the laughter over the sounds of battle and decided not to get anywhere near her. |

| Elleon wasn't a stranger to pain. He'd endured physical pain when some bullies decided to beat him up because he couldn't hear. He'd endured emotional pain when he had no friends outside of those from the Deaf school he attended. He'd endured mental pain when he began to question his worth. But none of those held a candle to the searing pain shooting through his shoulder.
He didn't know what kind of spell hit him but it felt as if someone was holding a torch to his skin while slicing through it with a knife and pounding on the wound with nails. And though that part of his body felt like it was burning up, the rest of his body felt as cold as ice. It didn't help that he was bleeding out as well. He wanted to shut his eyes and drift into oblivion but his eyes were the only thing that could tell him what was happening. If he closed them to the world, he'd be even more lost. Even if his vision was hazy from the pain, he needed to know what was going on around him. Taking short shallow breaths to try and ease the pain, his eyes darted everywhere, telling him what his ears couldn't hear, seeing at the speed of sound.
Then a shadow fell over him and he recognised Max. Move? Max wanted him to move? How could he move when he was in such agony? But the boy was insistent. He pointed to his shoulder, too exhausted to speak and beginning to feel dizzy from the blood loss. He slipped his functioning arm around Max's shoulder and allowed him to help him stand. A sharp pain shot up his leg, informing him that he'd sprained it, probably during his fall. Even worse, the movement reignited the fire in his shoulder and Elleon cried out, tears slipping down his cheeks, as he bit his lip against the pain.
His vision almost turned black as the world spun around him but Elleon fought against the dizziness, and blindly followed wherever Max was taking him. He tripped a few times but trusted the Gryffindor to hold him up. |

| The street had erupted in to chaos. Spells flying everywhere. Shop windows bursting in their frames. Fires starting randomly. People screaming, Aurors apparating in to the street and doing their best to control the crowds and locate the perpetrators. More of the Deadly Nightshade followers were apparating in, and chaos was ensuing on a grand level.
The figure who had been expelled from the window groaned as they tried to get up, grasping for their wand as they got to their feet. That had not gone to plan. But they were not about to leave empty handed.
Grabbing a child that was trying to flee, the figure held their wand to their throat, and spoke the word 'Sonoros'.
"I HAVE A CHILD." The voice rang out along the street, so loud that it would make your ears hurt. "IF YOU WANT THEM TO BE LET GO UNSCATHED, LEAVE US BE!" The voice continued. The Aurors had stopped, glancing at the other members of the group with caution, but more worried about the safety of the child.
It was a stand off, now. And not a pretty one. |

| As Elleon pointed to his shoulder, Max looked at the area and his eyes went wide. Thankfully, he wasn't squeamish, but Merlin that did not look good. The more pressing, issue, though, was getting Elleon out of here. What had happened? Max did not know, but if he could get him to safety... Max knew how to treat small wounds. He could clean it with some water...
He didn't know right now, but he knew that his friend needed to be taken to safety.
The cry of pain was audible even above the screaming, and Max... well he knew he wasn't going to get far with Elleon. But, if they could just get far enough away, they would be okay. Taking as much of the other boy's weight as he could, Max kept Elleon moving away from the mess of a street behind them. But even after only a few steps he could feel Elleon's weight going heavy.
Frowning, Max spotted an alleyway, and pulled Elleon down there, and behind the garbage bins. Away from the eyes on the street, and just far enough away from the rubbish for Elleon not to pick up any infections. Kneeling down in front of the boy once he was propped up against the wall, Max tapped the boys cheek, trying to get him to focus once more.
"Elleon?" Max said, his lips moving purposefully slowly because he knew the boy struggled with talking. "I'm going to try to clean your wound." Max continued, just as slowly, despite his heart hammering loudly in his ears. Pulling off his coat, Max took off his shirt, and put the coat back in place, before taking out his wand. Pointing his wand at the cloth, Max tried the Aguamenti spell, but it didn't work. He was panicking. Not concentrating, but trying. He did it again, to little avail, but on the third attempt, it soaked his shirt enough to be useful.
With that done, Max pulled Elleon forward, ripping his shirt around the wound and then dabbing at the blood. His fingers went to Elleon's hair, massaging them gently like he would if one of the animals he looked after was injured. Hopefully it would soothe Elleon as he worked, not that Max knew what he was up against. But it had to help, right? |
