Chaos & Confusion (TW: Violence - Open to All)

Elleon hardly knew where he was going, his vision too blurred from the pain to make out his surroundings. But he could feel Max and he clung on to him like a lifeline. Pain shot through his ankle as he limped along, but he pushed through it, determined not to faint. He'd drawn blood from his lip, as he bit down to keep the agony at bay. More than once, he'd wanted to ask Max to just drop him down and leave him be. All this movement was making his shoulder worse but he knew the boy just wanted to get him somewhere safe. Just as he was about to give up, Max stopped.

Elleon slouched against the wall, leaning on his good shoulder and harnessing all his strength to focus on Max's lips. Tapping his cheek had been a good idea as Elleon wouldn't have paid attention otherwise. He squinted through the pain, making out enough of the words to know that Max wanted to help him. Closing his eyes, he dropped his head against the wall, trying to breathe past the incessant pounding in his brain.

He had no idea how long passed before he felt a sharp stinging pain on his shoulder, different from the burning fire he'd felt before. His eyes snapped open to see Max pressing on the wound, probably wiping the blood away. It hurt like hell but he knew it had to be done so it wouldn't get infected. The massage helped with the pain but Elleon was concerned about something else. He was losing way to much blood and if they didn't fix that, he didn't know how long he could stay conscious. He was already seeing spots in his vision.

"Stop bleeding," he rasped out, gasping as the cloth landed a little too close to the open wound and stung. "Gotta stop bleeding."

Lux was having the time of her life. This was so much fun. Probably the most fun she had in ages since she tricked a bunch of kids into drinking pure apple cider vinegar. The look on their faces was priceless. But this was a completely different ball game. She was in her element, causing as much havoc as she could and terrorising her enemy till they did not know up from down and left from right.

After defeating a few foes, the usual spells got boring so she experimented with some fun ones - turning ears to kumquats, making them sing with a Cantis spell, turning them into ducks, and plenty other that made her laugh her head off. Once she had her fun with them, she finished them off easily. Of course, she had some pretty close calls too when she'd misjudged her opponent but she was a quick learner and never made the same mistake twice, unless to trick them.

She was enjoying herself so thoroughly, vanquishing all who stood against her that she almost didn't notice one of them grabbing a child. It wasn't until the voice called out that her attention turned to the hostage. Now, Lux had taken her own share of hostages at the orphanage. It was something fun she liked to do in her spare time to drive fear into the hearts of the orphans there and make them do her bidding. But this was different. This was serious one wrong move and it would end the child's life. And although Lux liked the concept of bring death to someone - preferably the slow and painful kind - she would never actually carry it out.

Once glance told her that the Aurors were heeding the Nightshade's words, not making a move for fear of endangering the child. Cowardly idiots, the whole lot of them. Lux had a plan but she couldn't do it alone. For one, she was too far away and for another, it would work a lot better with someone else. She could do it alone, sure, but there was more risk involved. Oh what the ****. Life isn't life without risks. I wouldn't be me without risks. But her more rational self reminded her that it wasn't for herself she was taking the risk for. A child's life was at stake.

She just had to get closer to put her plan into motion. Taking a deep breath, Lux cast a disillusionment charm on herself. She'd learned it but hadn't perfected it and it took a few tries to get the desired results. It wasn't easy but Lux was determined. When she finally got it, she almost shouted in victory. Not hesitating, she made her way closer to the hostage and Nightshade, taking cautious steps. Her plan was foiled however, when the charm faded. Her spell hadn't been strong enough to make it last long. Swearing under her breath, Lux thanked her lucky stars that at least she'd crossed half the distance and had appeared in an inconspicuous place.

Time for plan B.

When Humphrey heard one of the masked villains announcing that he had a child he peeked out from behind his crate in the alleyway to see if that was indeed the case. To his horror it was, and the Aurors were all standing there in shock, doing nothing. Briefly he thought he might have seen a blur of movement heading closer to the situation, but had to admit to himself he may have been imagining things. Somebody needed to distract this jerk if the aurors or a student was going to take him out with a well aimed spell. While not as confident in his own spell work, he thought he might be able to provide the distraction. He was a loyal Hufflepuff, and he couldn't let a kid die because he was too scared he might get hurt and did nothing.

Walking out from the alley on slightly shaking legs, Humphrey headed straight towards the masked person and his accomplices. He was trying to put on a brave face, but he was terrified and he knew it probably showed on his face. It still wouldn't stop him from doing what he could, though. "Hey, coward!" he yelled, pointing straight at the person with the kid. "What do you think this is going to accomplish? All you look like is a band of incompetent people who can't even take on an unprepared village and schoolchildren so you hide behind a kid. Pathetic, really." he said, hand on his wand ready to cast a protego while he tensed his muscles to dodge one way or the other. One thing he was almost certain of was he was about to get cursed.

Everyone, save the shop keeper had gone from the store, drawn to the chaos outside. Where she should be, where she would naturally want to be. But the opportunity was oh so tempting, and she wouldn't give it up. No, it'd be stupid to give it up.

She briefly questioned whether she should lock the door behind her, but didn't think it'd make much of a difference considering the masked figure had crashed through the glass.

Those butterflies again...

"What happened?" she asked, feigning concern for the trembling shop keeper "What'd they want?"she added, moving to the counter. If anyone asked, she was asking if he needed help, of course.

The man pointed shakily to an object in a glass cabinet behind him, that was covered with a cloth. Her eyes flickered toward where the man was pointing, and then back to the man. He was shaken, scared, and more importantly, defenseless.

The fighting outside was still underway, and loud. Would people notice a flash of green light? If questioned, there was more than one Deadly Nightshade hidden in the store! A-and she desperately tried to fight them off! But they made off with the sword, and left this poor old soul dead.

Or perhaps they stabbed him, or cast some hideous spell that couldn't be healed? Or if she acted fast enough, with enough caution, she wouldn't be caught.

In an instant, Vi decided. She flicked her wand, and the curtains in the store dropped. Before the shop keeper had time to do anything, she aimed her wand at him, looking him dead in the eyes.

"Avada Kedavra,"

A flash of green. The shop keeper fell to the floor, eyes staring into space. That feeling- of power, of excitement- it consumed her. Control over life and death- it was... Addictive.

She would revel later though. She needed to act. She cast 'reducto' at the glass cabinet and jumped over the counter. Opening her handbag, she murmured 'Capascious extremis'. She carefully grabbed the sword, keeping it wrapped in the cloth and placed it in her handbag, closing it tightly.

And then, she apparated to the Shrieking Shack. No one went there, for fear of it being haunted. And that would buy her some time while she figured out what to do with the sword.

As Max dabbed at the wound, more blood seemed to be coming out of Elleon. Max had no clue how to treat it. He didn't know what was wrong, in truth, and the chaos amounting around them was not helping his concentration levels in the slightest. The comment from Elleon - before he gasped - was to stop the bleeding.

"I'm trying!" Max shot back to the Hufflepuff, but he knew he couldn't hear, and Max wasn't looking at him. The Gryffindor's hands were shaking, and he looked around helplessly for something of use. "Stop the bleeding... Stop the bleeding... Max thought to himself, the idea of water pouring through a broken pipe came to mind, you stopped the flood by closing the gap... PRESSURE.

Moving back in front of Elleon, Max tapped his cheek again, waiting for the boy to focus. "I'm going to put you on your tummy, and push down on the wound. I think that will stop the bleed. I will get help, too!" Max told the Hufflepuff, waiting for some kind of indication of understanding before carrying out the instructions. Moving Elleon once more, Max laid the Hufflepuff down, and rolled him on to his tummy, and then brought his already bloodied shirt to the wound. Which Max could now see...

Wretching slightly, Max applied pressure to the wound, watching his hands shake either from the force or fear, maybe both.

"HELP! SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!" Max shouted down the alleyway. Yes, he might get cornered by the Nightshades, but he had to try to help Elleon, didn't he? He couldn't let him die...

There have been many times in Sean's life where he was grateful to be alive and kicking and today was certainly one of those days as the Charm's professor ducked behind one of the shops, a frown on his lips as his eyebrows furrowed. It wasn't in Sean's nature to get invovled in these things but being a former street fighter and part-time dueller meant that Sean certainly knew how to protect himself however right at this moment in time, protecting himself was the furtherst thing on his mind; protecting his students, however, was at the very forefront.

As he ducked back around and shot a silent barely legal curse at the masked attackers, Sean started moving through the throngs of people, ducking behind some of the cloaked people to shove one of his hidden daggers in between their ribs or into their spine; he was just about to make his way towards the biggest battle on the grounds when he heard the unmistakable voice of one of his students, Max, screaming about helping.

The instinct kicked in and Sean fairly quickly dispatched of a Nightshade who had just been about to go into the alleyway where his errant student was only to come face to face with the sight of Max shaking and applying some kind of pressure to the boy beneath him.

"Max?" The Professor cautiously approached his students, absent mindedly putting up a shield that should cover them from any deadly spells -though naturally the Avada Kedavra wouldn't be stopped.

"Hold on, Elleon, please hold on." Max told the boy, his fear of losing the Hufflepuff now overshadowing the obvious fact Elleon would not be able to hear him. He was alone, now, and the only person he had was someone who could neither hear him, not was likely going to be conscious much longer.

Hearing footsteps, Max saw Professor Vasquez dispose of someone who was... well, Max was quite sure they weren't a nice person, but he didn't pay it much mind. "Professor Vasquez, please, help..." Max pleaded with the man, lifting one hand up to motion the man before remembering what his hands had been doing and moving them back.

"Please, professor, I don't know what happened. I found Elleon on the street. I didn't do this to him. I wouldn't... I couldn't... I tried to get him out of the way of the fighting, but he's... he's losing too much blood. And I can't stop it, professor, I don't know how to!" Max explained, his voice not loud, but very quick as he tried to explain himself. His whole body was trembling because of the adrenaline, the fear, and the sheer determination keeping him from giving up. "Do something..." Max added, not instructing the professor, but more asking for him to make this right.

To save his friend, before he lost too much blood.

Naomi had been perusing Hogsmeade with a few of her girl friends. Gossiping about boys, discussing new fashion, and, of course, sharing personal conquests from the week. Naomi was pretty quiet on that front, very few boys caught her eye, and when they did, she was usually pretty quick in picking them apart. The company was good, though, and the girls were just about to head for lunch when chaos broke out on the street.

With the girls mostly being of Slytherin, they all ducked in to the Three Broomsticks for cover - self-preservation being key in that moment.

Except, Naomi paused in the door, looking back and watching the chaos and destruction reigning on around them. She didn't find any fun in it, though, instead scouting the crowds for her older brother, Callum. She couldn't spot him anywhere, but her eyes landed on a Hufflepuff boy. Humphrey.

He'd ducked down out of sight, and Naomi thanked Merlin for that kindness. Now, he just had to stay hidden.

The problem was, though, the Nightshades had caught hold of a student not long after, and Naomi could see Humphrey getting up. Instinct kicked in and Naomi was running towards the boy. Too late, her mind screamed as Humphrey started shouting at the man. She didn't have a choice...

Pulling her wand from her robes, Naomi quickly made a tick like shape with her wand. "FLIPENDO!" She shouted, watching the Knock-Back Jinx hit Humphrey much harder than she meant, sending him flying out of the way of more than one green jet of light. Naomi kept running towards him, though, grabbing hold of him and pulling him in to an alleyway. He was heavy, but it was better this way.

"You're the biggest prat in the world, Humphrey Williams!" Naomi told him in a hiss, turning back towards the entrance of the alley way to keep an eye out for people who might be coming their way. If they got out of this alive, Humphrey was going to hear about it.

As Lux's brain whirred with methods she could use to get that hostage out of the way without anyone else getting hurt, a boy's voice cut through the air. Very carefully so that her boots did not make any noise on the broken pavement, Lux peeked out of her hiding place to see Humphrey goading the Nightshade. If she'd been someone less in control of her emotions, she would've probably screamed in horror or cried out in fear or drop dead crying. But since she could maintain a tight rein on her feelings, the only thing that showed her irritation was the grinding of her teeth.

That idiotic little ****. Does he have a death wish? Or is his skull empty? Probably both. Now she had to save two kids instead of one. Maybe she should just let the Puff die. It would rid the world of one more idiot. Or perhaps she could use this to... Before her plan could fully formulate, Humphrey was thrown back, and pulled away by a Slytherin girl. Seriously. Only Slytherins were good for anything and had brains. It was a miracle he'd dodged the killing curses the Nightshade sent their way and it was just the distraction she needed.

With most of the Nightshade's attention on Humphrey and the other Snake, Lux jumped into action. She didn't know yet exactly what she would do but winging it seemed like a pretty solid plan to her. With a tight grip on her wand, she cast a Protego Duo around her. As quickly and as silently as she could, she repositioned herself, keeping to the shadows, until she was somewhat behind the Nightshade and the hostage.

And whispered Ascendio had her flying straight up into the air. Casting spells from up here would have less chances of hitting the boy - not that she had bad aim. A few dozen spells ran through her mind and though Lux was tempted to use the most exciting one (she really was spoiling for a fight) she went with the one that would put the kid in the least harm. Once she thought she was at a reasonable height and good angle, she pointed her wand one foot behind the Nightshade and yelled out, "Bombarda Maxima!" The pavement exploded, throwing both Nightshade and the kid off their feet, and showering pieces of concrete and dust around.

It didn't take long for the rest of the Nightshade to spring into action and green jets of light were headed her way. Lux descended to the ground, barely dodging all the curses until she was safe out of sight of them, her heart thumping hard in her chest and adrenaline lighting her blood on fire. She was safe. She was safe.

As a boy stepped out, shouting towards the group, the leader's lips - though unseen - turned in to a deadly smirk. Cowardice? Merlin no. People with morals, such as Aurors, were too quick to double think their actions when they could potentially put a child's life in danger. The boy before them obviously didn't understand that much, and if he'd stayed quiet...

"Kill him." The leader drawled, and a number of flashes of green light erupted from a number of wands towards the boy. Who seemed to go flying in the same moment...

The Killing Curses missed their target completely. The Aurors moved forward, taking out a couple more Nightshades whilst their attention was taken. The leader, however, sent a few stunners in their direction, but missed the girl who was whirling around them. A number of the Nightshades moved off to get the girl, leaving the leader open, vulnerable.

Which was precisely why he did not see the girl levitating above him. Nor did he expect the blast. So when the pavement blew them off of their feet, the leader let go of the child, and apparated away before the Aurors could get to them. Today's scene was over, for the leader, at least.
