Relaxing At the Piano (open)

At the end of his first year at Hogwarts Humphrey had pestered his parents until they eventually caved and got him some piano lessons that he'd taken over the last two summers. He still had a long way to go, but had accomplished his goal of being able to play some of his favorite songs on the piano and was always learning more. Since electricity didn't work at Hogwarts, he missed listening to his music that he had at home. But, even though it wasn't oft used in his experience Hogwarts did have an arts, music, and dance room. When he had a free period he found his way there and took a seat on the piano bench as he thought about which song to play.

Eventually an idea hit him as he remembered a movie called Rigoletto Casey and him had watched based off of an opera. He'd begged his parents to get the sheet music for those songs because Humphrey had absolutely loved them. His fingers danced across the keys as he played the first few measures of a song called The Curse. Softly, he began to sing softly but clearly, getting lost in the music. "We've heard the tale since we've been young, heard the songs that have been sung, about an evil spell." he began. As he played and sang quietly he found himself feeling more relaxed than he had in a while. "Someone beautiful is cursed. We feel sad through every verse. "Til a kiss and all is well."

Humphrey was consumed by the emotion and beauty of the music, not realizing that he was not alone. Although he was pretty outgoing most of the time, when he was playing he really didn't like being heard by anyone but family. Despite being told he had a good voice he was self-conscious about it because he knew he could be better with a little vocal or choir training. Hogwarts was great, but not the best school for teaching you to be a singer by any stretch of the imagination. Moving onto the next part, he kept going. "The message that no one can see is clear to someone like me-ee-ee." he said, hitting the notes in that drawn out word gently and smoothly. His piano playing started to build slightly as he hit the chorus.

"There is no curse or evil spell that's worse than one we give ourselves. There is no sorcerer as cruel as the proud, angry fool." Humphrey sang, a few small tears beginning to leak out. He knew he was that fool sometimes, but more often than not it made him think of the bullies he'd encountered over the years who just wanted to make others hurt. "And yet we cry "life isn't fair". Beneath our cries the truth is there. The power that will break the spell we should knowwww very well is locked within ourselves." Just as he was about to move onto the bridge, he jumped slightly as he noticed a pretty girl who looked vaguely familiar watching him sing and play. Instantly he turned bright red and stood up from the piano, moving away from it. He really hated that she had heard him and saw him like that, and he wiped the tears away before walking over and putting on a, hopefully friendly smile.

"Bonjour, Mademoiselle Clement." Humphrey told her, not really knowing much more but figuring he can address her by her native language at least. "That's all I really know aside from where's the loo and what's your name I'm afraid. Were you waiting for the piano?" he asked quietly.
