The Spanish ensued for a moment, and Jake faltered, wondering whether to stop or just keep going. He wasn't mad, not in the slightest, he just wanted to help. But it seemed everything he did was the complete opposite in that moment. So, it was better to just leave it until Marilyn had come round.

Or, that's what he'd hoped for.

But being told to stop made Jake do so, turning enough to be able to see her, his eyes a little hopeful that perhaps he'd found out what was wrong with his girlfriend. He did, of course, and he didn't quite know how to even begin trying to process what Marilyn had said. What she'd accused him of...

"Learn my fucking language, pendejo, I'm sick of having to force my tongue in my own home."

Jake opened his mouth to reply. Explain that he hadn't... well, he hadn't thought he'd needed to. To now, it hadn't been a problem. If she'd asked him to, well, he would have tried his best to learn her language, of course he would. But, she hadn't asked him, he hadn't seen the problem, and she was gone before he could comment on the whole thing.

With his jaw set, Jake moved to the kitchen, sitting at the table and pulling out his phone. Scrolling through the web browser he looked or the nearest library and pinpointed the times he could get there before, during or after work. He searched the internet for anything that might help him, and get him out of the mess that seemed to have been brewing for a while, until finally he had everything in place he would need. An audio tape for the basics, a book reserved to help him with that too.

He felt bad, worse than that, he felt awful, putting Marilyn through such unnecessary pain, but he hadn't known about it. It wasn't an excuse, and he'd make up for it, one way or another. But for now, he would keep it a secret, try not to upset her more, and prove to her that she didn't have to speak English if she didn't want to. That he would learn a new language for her, all she had to do was ask.

It was a good twenty minutes before he got up, moving to make himself dinner and then a little more for Marilyn in case she got hungry. Trying to work out where he'd missed the signs that she wasn't happy and then telling himself that it was going to be okay.

The witch vomited herself out for about fifteen minutes and then headed straight to bed after cleaning herself up. Luckily she was so exhausted by then that she just fell asleep, but not before she'd wiped a few tears from her eyes that threatened to spill onto her pillow. She hated fighting with Jake. It had just been bothering her for a while, but not that badly that she would have said something yet, she was just irritated and stressed and ill. That was, of course, still no excuse.

Mari awoke hours later, nighttime, to hear her boyfriend quietly enter the room and approach the bed where she'd had her back to him. Gently she turned around and bit her lip, eyes downcast.

"Jake? ...I'm sorry. I really am, I didn't mean to yell or be so short, it wasn't fair to you. I was feeling ill and tired and...well. I'm sorry. It's that time of the 'month', you know I don't deal with the first day very well... The point is that I'm sorry. And I love you." She said quietly, looking up at him almost shyly, "Forgive me?" Mari stopped biting her lip and met his eyes, hoping he'd be willing to put it behind them. And then she wanted to ask him what he'd wanted to talk about before...what future...

It had grown late with Jake's studying, trying to keep his mind on the subject in question but still worrying about Marilyn. It was difficult, not going to her in that moment, but he was quite sure it would only get worse, so he stayed away. It was only as he was growing tired, his eyes growing heavier with each word that he'd decided to head to bed. Marilyn had gone a while ago, he believed.

The young man tiptoed as quietly as he could, though he didn't doubt Marilyn would hear anyway. Stripping down to his boxers, Jake gently climbed in to bed beside his girlfriend, hoping that for once he hadn't woken her. It seemed, however, that he wasn't quite in luck on that one.

The apology that came brought a small smile to Jake's lips as he shook his head. "It's fine." Jake whispered softly in response. He was at fault, and he knew that, and it had been coming he was sure.

"Forgive me?"

"Course I will." Jake murmured, gently wrapping his arms around the witch and pulling her close. "It's my fault, and I'm sorry too." Jake whispered though he didn't let on that he was going to change things for her. He wanted it to be a surprise... Hopefully it would be a nice surprise. Placing a soft kiss on the corner of her mouth, Jake relaxed a little. "Are you feeling better?" Jake asked tentatively, because he was worried, he always worried about Marilyn even if it was completely normal.
