Shaun stood then shifted from foot to foot, wondering how big these pixie's were going to be. When asked if anyone of them knew what they were, he knew he hadn't a clue. The only pixies he knew about were in muggle fiction and as such, he was sure was as far from reality as could be. So, if he had no idea what they looked like, and was completely clueless as to their uses, he thought he wasn't going to be very quiet this class. Unless, he could fake it? Or rather guess at the correct answers. No idea what spells defeated them, he recalled a brief passage from something he'd read or maybe it was a film he'd seen as a little kid. Raising his hand, and then receiving a nod from the professor to answer, Shaun stated, "They like to trick travelers. They find it fun to confuse them and make them completely lost."

It came out as if he knew completely what he was talking about instead of winging it from bits and pieces of folklore that he tossed together. It would make sense, to him. There were all kinds of strange and crazy creatures that did weird things.

As Elleon waited for more students to arrive, he began going through what he remembered about Cornish Pixies. He didn't know a whole bunch of information but he knew the basics. Content with standing by himself, he kept an eye out for Amber, hoping that she would be able to attend class. The moral support was always good.

He had just recalled the fact that the pixies gave birth to live babies instead of eggs when he noticed a girl heading towards him, coming a little too close for comfort. The next thing he knew, she was addressing him. On normal days when he was not stressing out about DADA, he would've been polite, perhaps even had a little conversation with pen and paper. But with the class weighing heavy on his mind and the worry burdening him, he wasn't in the mood to be friendly.

He gave a small smile and returned her greeting by waving, then he proceeded to do the one thing that might isolate him a bit more. He signed. Rapidly. "Yea. Cornish Pixies. If Jake wants us to learn about them, then I suppose they're important," he signed in ASL. So far, he only knew that Primrose was the only Hearing student who knew sign language. It was rude, he knew that, but Hearing people had been much ruder to him.

At Jake's first question, Elleon nodded slightly, a corner of his lips quirking up in a smile as he remembered his holiday. He didn't have long to reminisce as the professor dived right into the lesson. He glanced around the room and saw a boy raising his hand. One look told him that he didn't have a chance at reading his lips from the angle he was at. Instead, Elleon took out his sketchbook and pen from his bag and began writing.

Cornish Pixies are very strong even though they are small. They can carry a human. Oh, they also give birth to live baby pixies.

He waited until he was completely sure that the Gryffindor boy had stopped talking before Elleon raised his hand and held up his notebook for Jake to see. He'd made sure to write bigger than his normal writing size so that it could be read clearly from a distance.

Delilah looked around the classroom and thought if she should even try to answer to.the questions what was asked there. She usually kept quiet but she knows she needs to even speak up more in classes. So she decided do it.

She raised her hand. "Pixies are only eight inches and electric blue color creatures. They also have pointed faces. And their voices together can make you ears hurt. It seems like many people arguing together," she said there something. This was something what she could remember and she did left few things to others reply too. She actually knew what spell to use against them.

She had read about them a bit earlier. They weren't like other known pixies in fairytale books. They were more different than that. She realized that after she had read about them. She had no idea why they were so different. She just was hopeful that her info was useful what she had said.

Jake's attention turned towards the Gryffindor who's hand had shot up at the sound of his question. Motioning for the boy to speak, Jake listened to the answer that had been given by the boy and nodded when he'd finished. "Very good, Shaun. Most Pixies love to confuse travellers, and the Cornish Pixie is no different to the masses on this one. Take five points for Gryffindor!"

Next, it was Elleon, and Jake turned his attention to the Hufflepuff's notepad. Reading through it quickly, Jake gave Elleon a thumbs up as a sign he'd gotten the answer right. "What Elleon has written down, for those that can't see, is that Cornish Pixies are strong enough to carry humans. And that they give birth to live young - i.e. no eggs." Jake explained to the class, before looking back to Elleon and holding up his hand. "Five points to Hufflepuff."

Last was Delilah, Jake listened to the answer and gave a nod. "Yes, very true, well done Delilah." Jake replied to the witch, before turning to the class at large once more - still slightly open to Elleon to make sure he could make out the words Jake was saying.

"Today, we're going to have a practical lesson, as always, which will be one where I let the Cornish Pixies out of the cage. And, you as a group, will retrieve them." Jake explained, a playful smile on his lips. "No, I have not gone mad. You will need to use the Freezing Charm to detain them once again. If you're all ready..." Jake explained, before tapping the cage beside him.

The door opened, and out flew the little critters, ready to cause some mayhem, he was sure.

"Woah," Shaun stated and turned to the Hufflepuff who knew about the pixies. While stoked that he was right, his attention was more focused on the fact that they could lift a human! And gave birth to live young. Did that mean there were things that you would think gave birth to live young but actually had eggs? So no pod pixies then. Good to know. And from what the other girl said, he would need earplugs. After the mandrake session in Herbology before he sort of wanted to carry some around anyway. Not to mention he liked to use them when certain Gryffindors were singing in the shower in the mornings.

When the professor said he was letting them out of the cage, Shaun's green eyes went wide. And the teacher seemed to read what he was thinking because his next answer of trying to assure them he hadn't gone made didn't ease the teen's anxiousness. Although, he was sort of eager too. And they'd need to know....the freezing charm?! Shaun could have face palmed because there were quite a few spells/charms labeled under that one heading. "Oh man," he mumbled and when they were let loose, Shaun now knew why their professor moved the desks. He didn't want anyone cheating or having an easier time ducking the winged menaces! Crafty, sneaky, professor.

Crap, crap, crap! Shaun racked his brains and brought up his wand saying the first thing that came to mind. "rictusempra!" If the thing was busy laughing it couldn't get him right? It would buy him time to think of something else. Then it hit him, almost literally. One of the creatures had taken his bag and upended near him and had to dodge to not get hit by his falling books. Grabbing his Charms book he flipped through it. "AHA! Immobulus!" he cast with a triumphant look.

Smiling to himself as his answer was approved and Hufflepuff was awarded five points, Elleon kept his sketchbook while his eyes were on Jake. He hadn't caught what Delilah said, but he didn't worry about that; he could always reread his textbook for more facts on the pixies.

The mention of "practical lesson" made him frown a little, though his knew that every lesson in DADA was a practical one. His spell casting had improved as well as his non-verbal skills, but he still struggled with some, especially when he was in a roomful of people and not alone. But he was truly alarmed when Jake said he would let the pixies out of their cage. He knew of the havoc they could cause if not contained properly. Releasing them would be disastrous if they couldn't freeze them properly and get them back in the cage. He knew the Freezing Charm and could successfully cast it about seven out of ten times, but he didn't know if he could do it to a whole bunch of pixies. He didn't have any problems with the wand movement; it was usually the pronunciation that got him down.

He wasn't prepared for the pixies to be let lose. And judging by the way the Gryffindor boy was flipping through his Charms book, neither was he. Taking his wand out as he tried to dodge incoming pixies, he casted the charm non-verbally, managing to hit one that was coming straight for him. The tiny being froze, and Elleon picked it up, gently placing it back in its cage. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw that the Gryffindor boy had also casted the charm. He was about to head toward the immobalised pixie to put it back when he felt something on his ear at the same time as he felt the sensation of being tugged upwards. Oh no.

He tried shake his head a little, hoping that the pixie would release him. It didn't work. If he didn't do something quickly, he'd be up in the air and Merlin knew what it would do to him there. Trusting in his spatial abilities - and also hoping to the high heavens that he wouldn't get his ear, he aimed his wand and casted the charm, heaving a relieved sigh when the pixie dropped to the ground. He lifted it and deposited it in the cage before moving on to defend himself against another mischief maker, grateful that he was deaf and wasn't able to hear the ruckus he was sure they were making.
