| Ambroise grinned as the girl faced him. This conversation had contorted itself in myriad different variations of what he'd expected. On most occasions, he'd either prove himself or be proven upon; either he proved his dominance over whoever he was speaking to or they fought back in a way that was not worthy of his time.
This was neither of those situations. He found himself speaking to this girl almost as though she was an equal. Of course, he was sure that she was aware of his dominance over her, but there was something about the way she spoke that demanded respect. He was not impressed, but he was pleased.
The male took a step to further himself from the female, almost as if to enforce the idea that this was not a casual interaction but more so because he feared that any girl in this situation for too long would begin to expect things; things that he had no intention of offering.
"I do so apologise," he told her, keeping his tone of voice sincere as he lowered his head ever so slightly in an understated bow of sorts. "I have spoken of myself in such depth that I do not believe that I have done so much as ask for your name."
In reality, Ambroise could not remember if he'd asked for her name. Not that it mattered. It was simply a way to segue the conversation off of himself. He'd already said so much to a stranger. Who was he to offer any more of himself?
"What is your story, Miss adrenaline junkie?" he inquired. Perhaps she'd surprise him. Perhaps she wouldn't. |

| The conversation was certainly a handful of different topics and while Roxy didn't entirely like jumping from one topic to another, the boy in front of her proved to be a very good conversationalist and quite good company as well to a girl who was just looking for someone to talk to; many would call her foolish in not even thinking of pursuing this guy, he was certainly good looking enough to be called a potential catch, but Roxy found no need in finding a boyfriend or even a lover, at least not at this time in question, she was much too focused on her studies at the moment and she wasn't entirely sure whether she was even ready for the step of romantic relationships.
Roxy was pretty much aware that the boy in front of her controlled the conversation but she fancied herself just as much in control as he was, no way was she going to just roll over and let the other control all aspects of this, quite amusing, meeting.
She rose a brow when the male stepped back from her but she didn't voice her thoughts out, instead, she stood straighter, her pureblood training kicking in when introducing herself to the male.
"Roxanne. Roxanne Förstner." She curtsied the male, her eyes lit up with a mischevious light as she looked at him. "And may I have the pleasure of knowing your name?" Her voice was light, a soft hint of laughter in it as she waited and wondered whether the male in front of her was a pureblood, half-blood or muggleborn. If the latter he would be confused by her curtsying and formal tone, if the former then he would quite probably respond in kind and if the middle one, well then, that would be a surprise.
"My story?" She tilted her head, her flaming red hair illuminated in the light of the moon as she was standing just in the way of it, leaving her bathed in the silvery light. "What would you like to know?" She questioned lightly. "My age? My blood? My house? Or maybe you'd like to know the full story..." She trailed off, her lips quirked into a half-smile, leaving the sentence hanging. |

| The redhead had informed Ambroise that her name was Roxanne Förstner. Förstner. The name did not fly through one ear and out of the other as he'd meant for her to think that it most likely would. No, he allowed her name to sink itself into the depths of his mind whilst he decoded his memories into representations of what he knew of her family.
The Durand family all but ruled Canada, meaning that it was Ambroise's job to make sure that he knew at least the basic details of every family that his may ever cross paths with. This being said, Ambroise would have appeared a fool had he not heard of the Förstner family. The German Purebloods were said to have heavy backgrounds in dark magic, which would have painted them as a threat had the more recent generations not swayed away from the darker paths.
Nowadays, Roxanne's family was powerful but not as powerful as they once could have been. And their influence would only drop under the rule of...well, of Roxanne.
"Ah," he grinned. He was unsure as to whether or not he wanted to lead with what he knew or save it for the closer. Either way, it'd be interesting to see how the half-blood princess reacted.
"Förstner. Roxanne Förstner," he repeated a couple of times, really trying to dig his words deeper into the mood. He was not being rude, oh no. This pleasureful encounter had simply become business.
And business was business.
"Tell me, Roxanne Förstner," he clung to every word he spoke. "How do you plan to rule a people to whom you do not truly belong? The world may seem accepting, but who knows? Daddy dies, you rise, and poof! Förstner dynasty down the drain faster than the other half of your bloodline."
He bowed once more, for emphasis.
"Ambroise Durand. A pleasure to make your acquaintance." |

| The surname certainly jolted Roxanne and the German witch straightened even more as she stared at the Durand heir, her eyes calculating, not judging, just calculating as she wondered what this meeting of theirs would bring because this was no longer fellow Hogwarts Students talking, this was one heir talking to another, even if she was a female.
Roxanne didn't doubt that this talk was going to tread into a very dangerous territory, territory that the fourteen-year-old witch wasn't sure she wanted to tread into. Politics, while she could certainly do them, weren't something she enjoyed partaking in, she had the mind for it but she was still at that age where nothing more but her school was on her mind; well, her school and friends that are.
"Do not truly belong?" The German Half-blood tilted her head to the side, her eyes darkening just a tiny bit as she thought about what exactly he meant by that. "Rule people? Förstner Dynasty down the drain? My, you seem to have a very low opinion of my Father's dynasty Heir Durand. I'm not too sure if I should be insulted or not. But to answer your question, I have no want to rule the German Underground, it's not... something I am willing to do just yet. I am, after all, all but fourteen years old. What happens in the future, well, that is for the future wouldn't you say?" She looked at him, just daring him to say something to that.
"It will be a long time before my father dies, he's only thirty-five after all." The red-haired witch said as she turned her back to Ambroise, though her fingers were curled loosely around the wand that she had pulled out, she wasn't as stupid as to fully lower her guard. "He's been in this business ever since he was sixteen after all if after twenty years no-one has managed to off him, I doubt he'd die anytime soon."
She looked over her shoulder at Ambroise, a wry if the slightly cold look on her face. "Yes, I suppose it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well." |

| Ambroise did his best to maintain a neutral expression as the girl before him attempted to stand her ground. Her argument was scrambled and difficult to comprehend, being mostly comprised of the re verbalisation of points that he had already made. She debated exactly as he'd supposed that she would; as a young and inexperienced girl who had yet to be educated on the principles of her destiny. She seemed to believe that she knew so much, yet she demonstrated little to no knowledge regarding her or her people.
"I have no intentions to offend you, Roxanne," He told her, keeping his tone of voice calm and straightforward. "If anything, I am trying to prepare you with questions that you will most definitely be asked in the future. A half-blood heir to a Pureblood legacy! I am quite certain that your people may not be as welcoming to the idea as you or your father. It is their future as well, is it not?"
In honesty, Ambroise worried for the young heir. Sure, it made sense for her to want to focus on school and socialisation, but that was not the way that a world like theirs was supposed to work.
"I do not speak of the future, Roxanne. You and I do not get the luxury of waiting a few years before our responsibilities mature. Your father is living and breathing, yes. But he lives and breathes to make sure that you are ready to take his place as soon as he is gone. He is not waiting for the future."
It took everything in him not to grin. It was laughable, really. How clueless some people could be.
"There is no future in dreaming, dear Roxanne." He said. It made no sense, he knew. But sometimes, confusing people made it easier to get through. |
