| Zoey looked up and smiled when she saw Dimitri had walked over and was now talking to her and Rebekah. She pushed a strand of hair out of her face "Hello Dimitri. You look quite handsome tonight." She said blushing a bit as she sipped her drink that she had picked up when she first arrived.
Rebekah noticed that Zoey was a bit nervous around the boy and smiled. She made a mental note to remember the boys name, Dimitri. She smiled and looked at him "Yes, I am Rebekah. Rebekah Carlton. Its a pleasure to meet you Dimitri." She said before looking around a bit.
She noticed a few waiters were walking around with food and drinks on trays. She managed to grab a drink for herself since the other two already had glasses and took a sip "So, how do you two know each other?" She asked, assuming it was since they were in the same house, but still loving to here stories. |

| A mouthful of pork pie was about the time that Carlotta de Santis had arrived at the Ball and stood before him. Eyes widening slightly upon taking the witch in and realising that in that moment he could not answer the question posed to him, Arthur held up a finger in the universal sign of 'wait' before concentrating on swallowing the mouthful he'd taken.
He hadn't seen Carlotta in a long while, and tonight she looked... well, beautiful.
The only problem was Arthur Peadarsan was not very good at being thrown off his usual ideas. Finding Carlotta at the Ball, whilst not an impossibility, was not something that Arthur has put in to his plans for the evening. And yet, the teenage boy in him was insisting he stay at the Ball.
Finally swallowing the pork pie, Arthur gave Carlotta a small smile. "Hi." He said simply, his voice not quite coming out in it's usual tone in that moment. "I'm fine, you? You... look great, too." Arthur heard himself saying, before realising what he'd actually said and his eyes went slightly wider than usual. "Who's your date?" He asked quickly, trying to change the subject, but not really moving away from her. |

| Caspar poured himself a glass of punch and took a sip from it, looking off around the room at those who had arrived thus far. The students had all scrubbed up nicely, and it was nice to see the calmness of the situation ensuing around the Hall. Hopefully, there would be nothing untoward tonight, and the school could simply enjoy themselves as a whole.
His mind was elsewhere by the time he was greeted by his colleague, Professor Waters, and he jumped slightly when he was spoken to, before playing it off with a warm smile. "Thank you, you look quite lovely yourself, if I may say so. Your dress would have looked lovely with a ferne irene hair piece..." He said, referring to their first meeting, which had ended up with him spending a night in custody (mistakenly) because of Auror Waters.
"Perhaps..." Caspar added, taking one of the roses from the table and taking out a wand. Transfiguring it in to the flower he'd been speaking of, he held it out to her with a nervous smile. "You can make do with this."
However, before Caspar could say another word, one of his favourite students arrived and he smiled at Sophie's question. "It's fine, Sophie. Professor Balan, reluctantly, aided us in making the punch smell like Amortentia, without the infatuation part." He explained, before motioning to the drink in his hand. "I've had some, it just... smells like the things you love most." He added, hoping this would make the Gryffindor feel a little more at ease.
The arrival of another one of the staff from Hogwarts -- the new Caretaker -- put Caspar slightly on edge. The Caretaker had an aura about her of a powerful woman, not one to be messed with, and therefore, he found her a little bit intimidating. Add to that she was beautiful and he was now stood talking to two very beautiful women, didn't make the social aspect of the evening very easy for Caspar at all.
"Umm... well, it's already been 'spiked' if you count Professor Balan's work." Caspar told the witch in a lame joke to try and make himself feel more at ease. But the nervous laugh emitted from his own lips proved that it hadn't helped at all. |

| Dimitri smiled at the compliment that was sent his way by Zoey. "Thank you, Zoey." He replied kindly to the compliment, taking a sip of his drink as he noticed the witch was blushing. Merlin only knew what that was girl signs for, but he didn't wish to get in to that.
"It's lovely to meet you, Rebekah, I've heard of you from Zoey before now, so it's good to finally put a face to a name." The Ravenclaw admitted with a warm smile. Being charming, after all, was not overly difficult to achieve in such a situation.
"Oh, we're in the same house, but I'm a couple of years ahead of Zoey. We had lunch together one day, that's about all there is to the story, really." Dimitri explained with a carefree attitude. That had been all that had happened, so there really wasn't much to elaborate on.
"So, do you ladies have dates for this evening?" Dimitri asked out of politeness in that moment. |

| Sophie listened as Professor Loverin explained the liquid in front of her. She didn't trust Professor Balan but she trusted her Herbology Professor. If he said it was okay to drink, it was okay to drink. At any rate, she was glad it didn't have the infatuation effect. She wouldn't have liked seeing people lip locking everywhere. That was just plain disgusting. "Oh," Sophie said, dragging the syllable out. It was no wonder she could detect the familiar smell of horse and hay. It would be weird drinking something that smelled of that but Sophie was never one to back down from trying new and weird things. Taking a cup, she carefully scooped the liquid in before moving down to where the food was.
Spotting someone from her house, a year younger, Sophie headed towards him, trying to recall his name. It started with a "J", she knew. She scanned the table, as if she was looking for something to eat, buying time so she could figure out his name. It was something like Jerry but she knew it wasn't Jerry. Oh, right! Jerome.
"Hey, Jerome," she began, sending the first year a smile. "Anything good to eat here?"

| The current conversation was one that centralised around a Gryffindor seventh year who Naomi simply didn't see why the others found so attractive. In her opinion, if you put the boy on a scale from one to ten, he would peak at a seven on a good day, if you were being kind. Which, Naomi rarely ever did.
Switching off from the conversation without a care for the feelings of those speaking, Naomi's eyes scanned the room. It was quickly filling up, many people arriving some with dates, some without. Most of the people there weren't of interest, but as her eyes fell on a certain Slytherin, a small smile touched her lips.
Corbin had decided to come to the party, seemingly alone.
The fun could begin then. Her eyes moved away before he could catch her looking, though, picking up the conversation where it had moved on to, with the girls talking about whether one Joshua Abbott would make the event. Rolling her eyes internally at the mention of that idiot, Naomi almost wished she hadn't bothered.
However, out of the corner of the eye she noted Corbin moving. Concentrating on the unoriginal conversation until he announced himself to the group. There were some, of course, who giggled upon the arrival of Corbin, and fluttered their eyelashes at him in a desperate hopeful ploy to get his attention. Which, therefore, meant Naomi received a few huffy looks when Corbin turned his attention to her.
"I wish I could say the same for you, Henderson." Naomi replied to her fellow Slytherin complimented the way she looked. She was teasing him, of course, but there was no way she was going to aiding his over inflated ego. The question he posed brought a smile to her lips. "If you think I need permission to dance with you from another, you're sadly mistaken. I'll see if I can find a time to dance with you later, though." She told him, playing the question off as nothing.
It was nothing, wasn't it? She had no interest in Corbin Henderson.
And that was precisely what she would keep telling herself. |

| When Prim heard that there was going to be Valentine's Day Ball her eyes were already starry and her mind had literally flitted to what dress to wear, what makeup to put on, what shoes to get and what hairstyle to do. It had literally been the only thing on her mind for a week before the ball that she literally daydreamed in class and unfortunately for her that ended up with some point losses but she hadn't minded, not really, she would just get it back in the next lesson anyway.
The day of the ball had literally been a rush in the girls dorms of the Gryffindor house, all the fifth year girls doing the other's hair and make-up, giving their own opinions on how things should go after each of them had taken their showers, doing their nails at the same time and just generally enjoying some girl-time together.
Prim had been the first one to put on her dress and get ready for the ball, her make-up and hair is fairly simple and subtle, to not make it clash with the dress and deciding to let her natural beauty to show just this once, only accented slightly by the makeup that she had put on.
Making her way down to the common room, Prim took a seat on the couch that faced the way down from the boy's dorm, eagerly awaiting Max who hopefully would show up to go with her to the Ball. She had told him that if he wanted to go with her then she would be waiting down at the foot of the stairs for him and that's what she was doing.
Waiting for Max and hoping that he would show up. |

| Roxanne enjoyed balls, there was no denying that, and because of that she loved dressing up in pretty and cute dresses however for this particular ball she was going to go for daring and sexy, something that she was quite sure would make quite a few people frown in annoyance and disbelief but for one night she at least wanted to let her hair down and party.
She had been asked by quite a few guys to go with them but Roxy had just rebuffed them coldly with a simple 'I'm going to have fun and not be tied to one guy all night' thus any talk of Roxy going with anyone had been quickly and coldly shot down by the woman herself who had plans to genuinely enjoy herself and not sulk in a corner because some guy invited her who didn't like dancing.
Finding a dress hadn't been hard, she had just owled one of her friends in Germany who knew what she wanted and the slightly older girl had owled back the dress that Roxy wanted along with the shoes and she had also recommended what sort of hairstyle and makeup to do.
Following her friends' advice Roxy had one of the older Ravenclaw's help her with her make up and hair before she had slipped on her dress and shoes and stood in front of the seventh year witch who just chuckled at Roxy and shook her head before telling her to have fun and she had been shooed out of the room.
Finding her way to the ball location, Roxy stepped inside and looked blankly at the love hearts fluttering above her head before shaking her head, thank Merlin she hadn't come in with a guy, this probably would've ended ugly. She was going to enjoy this ball and no-one would ruin it for her. |

| With Valentine's Day here, Max had not really thought about it. Yes, he had a girlfriend. Yes, he liked her very much. But he was not a conventional romantic, and Valentine's Day wasn't going to make him one. Which had been why he hadn't asked Primrose to the Valentine's Day Ball, even though almost everyone had insisted he should have.
Why?
Why did society need to make a day specific to showing someone you liked them very much? Why could you not like them very much all the days of the year? Whatever the reason, Max hadn't thought of it too much, until Prim said she was going. Which was where she'd said she'd like him to go with her, which meant he had to -- this, he'd been told by a boy in his dorm who'd overheard.
Which was precisely the reason Max had come down the stairs, just before seven, in a suit that was less mismatched than his first option had been because he'd been forced to put on another one by the boy's in the dorm who'd told him his first one looked ridiculous.
A flower -- a rose -- was in his hand as he stood before Prim, one of the boy's had (with an exasperated sigh) explained that this was the tradition, and that Max, apparently, owed him big time.
"Hey Prim!" Max greeted, a fond smile on his lips as he took in her outfit of choice. "You look..." But words failed the Gryffindor and instead he held out the rose to her to avoid having to speak. |

| Jerome had been in the middle of piling his plate with, well, anything and everything that looked or smelt nice. He'd always had eyes bigger than his stomach, and never, ever turned down food. One of the good things about Hogwarts was that there was always plenty of food, he hadn't gone hungry once, which was a refreshing change.
He glanced up upon realising that a girl, someone he recognised from the year above (through seeing occasionally in the common room), was talking to him. Was it Sophie? Sophia? He had the feeling it might be Sophia, or perhaps that was because it was his mother's name.
He turned to her, flashing her a grin "Pretty much everything," he grabbed some cutlery "Though I'm not fussy, I'll eat anything,".
That was when he caught the familiar scent of fairy floss, that seemed to be coming from the girl's cup "Why is your drink so fragrant?" he asked. |
