He wasn’t sure what the New Year would bring, but this was much more than he expected. It was forty-eight hours ago that the Headmistress had requested his presence. At first he had assumed it was either due to something Ministry related or worse, misbehavior from his sister, but it turned out to be totally different. Instead he had been asked to guest lecture due to some changes in scheduling. It was an impulsive “Yes” and now he grew a bit nervous.
Still, as he reached the dungeon, he took it all in; after all this was once a great passion of his. His hands skimmed through the phials before taking a seat. Sitting at his temporary desk, he leaned back and waited for students to enter. He waved his hands in the air, as if he was composing, so his name would be written on the board.
Mycroft Holmes
For the older students he had a simple enough lesson to go off of:
Elixer to Induce Euphoria
Waiting patiently for the students he wondered how this would go.

| Slipping into Potions, Alexei made his way to the front of the class where he placed his bag on the floor and then sat himself down in the chair, curiously looking at the Professor that was standing there. He hadn't seen the man before, so he must either be a new one or just taking over the lesson, not that he cared as long as the man knew what he was doing.
Leaning back in his seat, he didn't even bother opening his book; he knew the Potions that was written on the board and while he had done it a few times at home, his brother being a Potion's Master and requiring some help when brewing, he hadn't actually done it on his own but with his brother's help, the only thing he really did was chop up the ingredients and stir when required. |

| Janet trudged through the dungeons and into the Potions classroom. She had just woken from a nap and was beyond tired but she still managed to plaster on a smile and wave to the professor. She glanced at the board before greeting the man with a respectful "Good morning professor Holmes." She hadn't seen this man before but that didn't make a difference. She would treat him with the same respect as any other teacher would deserve.
She found a seat in the middle of the classroom and shrugged off her shoulder bag, digging through it to find a quill and parchment to take notes, as well as pulling out her stuff she would need for the class from her bottomless bag. She glanced at the board again before getting out her book for potions and trying to flip through and find the recipe written on the board. |

Tess hummed softly as she walked towards the dungeons. She was very excited about potions as everyone in her family was naturally gifted in potioneering. She had heard good things about the professor and found herself curious as to what she would gain from this particular lesson. The New Year had brought some sense of acceptance of her situation so now she tried to take things in stride.
That is, until she realized who would be the instructor this time around. The moment she had pushed the door open she had felt something was odd, and it all made sense when she saw who it was. At first she froze at the door way surprised that her big brother was the actual professor, and secondly, even more so as he was here and didn't warn her. She glared annoyed at the predicament. Had she known she would have ditched this specific lesson plan.
Taking a deep breath, she simply murmured a good morning and took a seat far away from the front. She could not stand the idea of him judging her potion work. If there was someone that was better at potioneering in her family, it would be her brother.

| Sasha knows things about potions for sure. She was so good as she could be in this lesson and always tried to be better. She actually had become like potions over some years. So this is why she decided to show up in this lesson when she heard there was one.
She soon after that walked into the classroom and realised that there wasn't today their usual professor but someone else. She didn't really mind who was teaching them there. She just was here to learn something new. "Hello," was all she said and sat somewhere middle of the classroom.
The Hufflepuff looked up at the board and saw what was today's topic. She wasn't exactly sure right now if she knew that potion or no. She was sure to name seemed familiar, so she has at least heard about it. She took out things she needs for this class and began to look up the potion mentioned on the board from her book. Maybe she could be useful even in this lesson. |

| Potions was by far her favorite subject. When she had first come to school and had found out she would be taking 'Potions', Neri was kind of dumbfounded. Being a Muggleborn witch, she had, of course, read about Potions, but she still couldn't believe that there were so many things a Potion could do. But the whole process of making one was quite a challenge as well. And Nerisei was up for this challenge. The Ravenclaw ended up falling in love with the subject before she actually knew it, and now, in her Fifth Year, she was positive that this was what she wanted to do once she graduated. Become a Potions Master. And this was why she never missed a Potions lesson. Never, ever.
Making her way to the Dungeons as fast as possible, Neri slipped inside the classroom quietly, her eyes scanning the room immediately. She turned to the Professor, giving him a small nod of respect, before moving further inside and taking a seat alone. Her eyes focused on the board, and tilting her head, she read.
Elixer to Induce Euphoria
A smirk touched her lips.
Well, this should be fun. |

| As students began to pile in, he waited patiently for them to settle. He refused to rush himself or take another look at his notes, after all, he knew what he was teaching and there was no need to psyche himself out. It was when the bell rung through the castle that he snapped his fingers so the doors would close. He knew that had it been his time the doors would have locked, but he figured it was too intense. The last ring signified that it was time to start.
"Good Afternoon! As you can clearly see, I am not your usual potions master. Your professor had a prior engagement and the Headmistress requested I come in and teach you a simple lesson. First, you should know I am not really a professor so don't bother. In reality this is not my everyday job, I actually work for the Ministry. Since I see a lot of fresh and some older faces, please note that the Ministry cares for your grades and if you plan on joining at any time, please put an effort in potioneering, DADA and your Duelling classes."
When his little spiel was done he moved closer to the front and sat himself atop of the professor's desk. He smirked lightly before moving on.
"Now let's get the lesson going and the points going around. First and foremost we already know what the Elixer does so there is no need to tell me. You are smarter than that. I'd rather know: When will you use it? What is a characterization of an elixer in general? And lastly, can anyone name me an ingredient?" |
