Four and a half months.

That was how long had passed since his Azalea had completed the biggest feat in the world, for him. Four and a half months in which the small Murray heir had been growing inside the womb of his Azalea. The small bump that had appeared in the last two weeks had been a marvel to the blond male as his hand rested possessively on his Lady wife's stomach. The change was only slight, but when you knew each curve of the slender frame of your most precious flower, even the faintest of differences showed.

The morning of the azalea festival in North Carolina came in to being as the light filtered in through the blind. Josh had been awake for more than an hour, his right hand resting softly upon his Azalea's stomach as he watched her sleeping peacefully beside him. He knew precisely when she would wake up, the staff knew too, but Joshua always woke early enough to simply watch her. The gentle rise and fall of her chest the most prominent of habits of Josh's, until now. Now, Josh watched the way the flat planes of his Azalea's stomach gave but the smallest of curves in evidence to the life growing inside of her.

Their trip to America was not one Josh liked very much, the Americas were not a desirable place to be, but the witch was from this part of the world, and perhaps... Josh was playing on something of a whim that he was not fond of doing... perhaps the sound of familiar accents would bring forth a reaction. Though, that was not the first reason for being here. No, since Azalea's fainting episode in the greenhouses at Hogwarts, Josh had known that the flowers had, somehow, touched the witch.

Perhaps the mass display of flowers in North Carolina that were the flower his Azalea had been named after would bring forth something more for the witch. Josh could not be sure, of course, if he was sure of anything he would have done it in an instant, but this was all a race against time now, and even suffering the Americas was something Josh would do for his most precious flower.

As the witch beside him began to stir, Josh's attention came back to the present, the small smile that was saved for only his Azalea touched his lips as he leaned down to press the softest of kisses upon her lips. Since being told his Azalea was with child, everything Josh did was with the proviso that if he did not do it carefully, she might break, and they could not afford that.

"You have a surprise today, A-Azalea..."

The Healers had insisted that Azalea not be put through the stress of walking around the festival. With her weakened state from the more intense vomiting, and the weight she'd lost despite the best efforts of the Healers to keep her body well nourished, Azalea would not be able to manage the whole day on her feet. Josh had, of course, insisted that a wheel chair -- though not the horribly medical version, one that looked more befitting of a lady of her station, be made for Azalea.

Which is where his most precious flower now sat as Josh pushed her in to the festival. A blanket adorned the witch's legs to keep her warm, though Josh knew it wasn't terribly cold, he would take no chances.

The festival was not one Josh was familiar with, but as they entered and he'd asked for the azalea's, the woman on the ticket stall had pointed Josh in the right direction to find the flower beds which had been transformed for this event. With a single nod, Josh had followed the instructions to a tee, and found himself before the whole garden of azaleas.

Unlike the first time he'd taken her somewhere, though, Josh did not probe his Azalea with questions, instead watching her features in the mirror he'd attached to the chair that was invisible to all non-magical eyes. Waiting to see if any recognition sparked in the features of his Lady wife as the walked through the sea of colour made from azalea.

Ever since the day at the greenhouse, the doll found.. well she began to find things something, which in and of itself was confusing though these spells of self awareness never lasted more than a few moments, and when they did, her eyes only sought out the various versions of mimosa plants scattered around her room, planted in the gardens, adorning the hallways of Murray Manor and even dwelling in pots around the withdrawing and dining rooms of the large estate.

Where hey came from, the doll didn't know. What they were for, she could not say. All she could really sense was that she had to be close to them. The urge to be close to a mimosa would come over the mechanical human at random times, making her walk, crawl or slide to the closet plant her almond shaped eyes spotted. Once she had attempted to get near the plants outside her three story window and had almost stepped out on the ledge before Darr came bounding in and yanked the chain closing the window roughly to her face - Master Murray only seconds behind the loyal wolf.

In the few moment sin which she could formulate a tought, she could only work towards one objective. Finding mimosa. Which one, she didn't know, but i wasn't one of the vast varities brought to Murray Manor from all over the world.

She also felt pain, and though at first the doll could not understand where it originated from, after a dozen such spells, she finally reached out a hand to indicate the left side of her torso.

The pain originated there, and no healer could fix it.

The trip to America was one the doll had no opinion of, returning to her robotic, lifeless state the moment she was taken away from the plants that were somehow responsible for her spells of wakefulness and source of her pain. But it was an instruction by the master so it had to be obeyed, and obedience was still the only thing the doll could cling to.

It was a New Day again and though it was in a different place, the Lady Murray's routine was the same. She was awakened, cleansed, dressed, fed and then she was instructed to leave with the master. Where they were going, the doll did not know, nor did she recognize any of the landmarks, her brown eyes once again lifeless and dull, the mechanical polite smile the only thing decorating her facial features.

The garden with its display of flowers meant nothing to the doll, the crowds held no interest as she was rolled along. The sun was glaring in the sky, sending sharp sparkling rays off her subtle jewelry and the cool steel of her chair. All around vendors shouted their fare and children ran around squirting each other with water guns.

And Azalea Murray felt nothing.

Whatever it was that had triggered the word to be spoken aloud by the Lady Murray had not been connected yet. The Healers couldn't really explain it, and the presentation of more mimosa plants had not brought forth the same reaction. There were reactions to the flowers, but not nearly as severe as the first one. Except, of course, for the time in which Darr had just caught the witch before she stepped through the window towards the plants.

The healers could not explain the significance of the plants.

Josh could not explain it, either.

But, Josh had decided that if it was the flowers that were bringing out the reaction, then it was the flowers that Joshua would take her to.

Which was precisely why they were the wrong side of 'the pond' that day. Just the two of them walking through the flowers which had far too many children in attendance. Josh did not like the overly busy, overly boisterous setting that he found himself in, but he would not give in to a mild part of discomfort when it came to his Azalea's happiness. No, discomfort could be afforded for his most precious flower.

As they moved in to something of a more secluded area -- an area made up with the most exquisite of azalea flowers in varying sizes and shades -- not yet riddled with small children, Josh stopped the chair, applied the break and moved around to the side of the chair. Sinking down in to a crouched position beside his Azalea, Josh looked around the flowers for a moment, allowing his Azalea to do the same, before turning slightly towards them.

"Do you know what these plants are, A-Azalea?" Josh asked softly, because last time... last time this much had worked, and it could potentially work again. Though, the head of the Murray household truly hoped that they would not have the set back of another fainting episode, he truly wanted his lady wife to be herself again. To recognise all of the things in the world that she loved.

To recognise him...

To be able to recognise their baby...

None of it registered as they rolled along, the heat, the children, the shouts of vendors advertising their wares, the girls getting ready for the Miss Azalea Pageant, the doll simply stared glossy eyed as she was brought to a less crowded patch of flowers, Master Murray sinking down to his knees in front of her, a nonverbal cue to look his way with her usual mechanical, inviting smile as if conversations with him made her feel an emotion she would never understand - happy.

"Do you know what these plants are, A-Azalea?"

The Lady Murray did not know, but it was a question that remitted an answer. her instructions were clear as her lips parted gently, her eyes still blank but her expression soft. "Why don't you tell me, darling?" she responded as she had been instructed to reply to questions she could not answer.

The doll waited, waited for more instructions, waited to be told what to do.

Waited for the pain to return because it meant she would be near a mimosa again.

In the distance, the shouts of vendors grew louder as the day grow hotter, people spilling in and out of the scarce shades erected for the event.

Mechanical, the response that came from his Azalea was nothing more than mechanical, and the slightest hint of frustration touched Joshua's features in that moment. It was gone almost as quickly as it had formed, but it had been there momentarily as the feeling of not getting anywhere reignited itself once more.

It's not A-Azalea's fault, Josh reminded himself as he took a moment to steady himself, responding to the smile on her lips with the faintest of traces of his own smile pulling up the corner of his lips for but a moment.

"They're azaleas. The flower that you were named after." Joshua explained patiently to the witch, taking her hand gently in his own and moving it so that she could touch the petals before her. "The festival is filled with all different kinds of these flowers. Only these flowers..."

Josh paused, his eyes moving from their hands back to the witch before him.

"Don't you like them, my most precious flower?" He asked, knowing he would put her in to a position she could not answer. But Josh didn't care, he was pushing her for a reason. Time was against them, they needed something to spark the Lady Murray back towards the living...

As the master explained who she was, the empty shell went through all the motions that indicated she was listening. He was trying to give her an identity she hadn't associated with for a long time. For the last decade, the doll had simply been Lady Murray - and no flower could undo that.

At least not one found here.

"BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS FOR ONLY FOUR NINETY NINE!"

A loud yell permeated the quiet of the moment created by the master, followed by more insistent cries. The day was hot, drinks were bound to be a good sell, or so she would have thought had the Lady Murray been capable of thought.

Except the more the man yelled from somewhere far away... The more the shell began to shiver, showing only the slightest signs of recognition as the pain started somewhere deep inside ehr, pain she could neither stop nor show.

Slowly, very slowly, her head turned to the direction of the sound, the sun glittering off her jeweled lavender hairpins and coloring her hair various shades of brown and red. The urge that came with the plants at Murray Manor was slowly returning.

And it made her want to go to that voice.

The notion of his Azalea liking, or not liking the plants was one that Joshua did not receive an answer to. The witch before him did not even look to be trying to formulate an answer as a loud voice permeated the quietness around them, talking of drinks that Joshua had no inclination towards.

But, his Azalea seemed to have something of an affinity towards the overly loud sound.

The faintest of shivers moved through the witch, noticeable by the blond male because he knew his Azalea unlike any other person could. Bringing the witch's hand back to her lap, Josh considered her for a moment. In her eyes, though, he was not there, and Joshua simply watched her. The call for the mimosas being sold brought the Lady Murray's head around to try to see the source.

Why...

Josh pursed his lips for a moment, before raising back up fully. "Would you like to go and see what he's offering, A-Azalea?" Josh asked, not because he was one for idle chat and the was hoping to fill the moment, but because the head of the Murray household would try every sentence int he world if it would break the deadlock of silence that ensued at the moment.

The insistence that mimosas were four ninety nine continued as they made their way back in to the fray of people, Josh once again not feeling comfortable but continuing on through the copious amounts of people until they found the man who had been shouting about his wares and catching his Azalea's attention.

Pulling up short of the stall, Josh moved round to be able to see his Azalea, looking to her in a hope of seeing something of use.

"Did you want one, A-Azalea?" Joshua asked, motioning to the drinks being sold. Even if he could not think of anything worse than buying refreshments from a recently erected, and soon to be destroyed building, Josh would do whatever it would take to make his Azalea happy. She had to know that by now...

The pain only grew as the shout came over and over again, and the urge to get nearer made everything else fade away. The doll tried to will her legs to move but they did not respond, safely tucked underneath her to the chair. Fortunately, she was moving, gliding, not aware how but knowing she was getting closer to the source of the sound.

There were other sounds that reached her soon, but non mattered. As the master propelled her forwards, she could sense an urgency she hadn't felt in a decade. She had to get to that sound in time or something horrifying would happen.

Again.

As they reached the stall, the master once again by her side, asking a question that, for once and for only a brief moment, the doll understood. He was asking her if she wanted mimosa, and there was only one answer. It came not in her usual, trained, pleasant tone but in a quiet, raspy whisper, her eyes wild for a second as she looked pleadingly up at the blonde.

"Please..."

The word was quiet, easy to miss among the people lining up for their drinks, shouting special orders of what they would like in their beverage and how much they were willing to pay for an extra shot of liquor.

But the word was there, and it was real.

The single word that left his Azalea's lips had Josh pausing for a moment. Taking in the situation, the sound of his Azalea's voice against the softness of it's usual nature. It was not right, it was not quite her voice. And yet... and yet there was emotion in that tone of voice that Joshua craved to hear more. Something was not right, and yet he craved it.

Mixed with the look that was not a mask, Joshua nodded, rising up to his full height once more and making his way to the front of the stand to order the drink that was being offered with gusto.

The blonde ordered two mimosas, handing over a hundred dollar bill before turning back to his Azalea, holding out the plastic glass of mimosa to his Azalea. His eyes remained on the witch, watching her intently as he tried to gauge why in Merlin's name she would want such a concoction. What the Healers would make of her actions, Joshua couldn't be hopeful of anything more than what he knew to be coming. Whatever the link to the mimosas was, none of them knew.

"Just sip it, A-Azalea," Josh insisted, not wanting her to drink the alcoholic beverage too quickly and make herself feel under the weather.

And still, in the background, the shouts of the mimosa drink continued.

A wild panic was becoming clear in the witch as all the color drained from her face, her hand wanting to clutch at the part of her body that hurt and felt hollow at the same time but unable to move on its own at that moment. As the master left her side, the fear grew. He was her means for getting anything... he would get her whatever she wanted and right now, she needed whatever it was the shouting was about.

The witch tried to stand from her chair in his brief absence, tried to move her legs but nothing would cooperate. As she pushed her arms against the chair, trying to propell herself out of it, she first felt it.

A shart jab inside her quite independent of the pain.

Almost like a kick.

It knocked her otherwise diminishing body back in her seat, and then was gone before her mind could focus on anything but the all consuming pain. The master returned moments later, holding a cup and offered it to her, and the witch, once again with slow, sluggish movements, reached out for the drink.

Holding it in her trembling fingers, the watery orange liquid sloshing around the container, the witch regarded it more carefully than she had anything in ten years.

Slowly, a single tear rolled down her cheek.
