Just sneaking around ( Lyra)

Dominique decided that she wanted to sneak down to the Slytherin dorms. She knew that it wouldn’t be all that hard to sneak out of the Gryffindor dorms. It was getting late so she knew that she would have to sneak past prefects. But she knew that everything was going to be worth it. As she wanted to hangout with her best friend. Soon they would both be leaving the castle for Christmas break. She would be going back home. This was going to be the first Christmas that was just her and her mom. So she was going to make the best of it. And she knew that Mimosa could help cheer her up. Dominique was glad that she left her robe in her dorm room. As nobody would know what house she was in. And maybe she could fool someone into letting her in the Slytherin dorm.

She was so excited that she made it to the Slytherin dorms and no one has caught her. That was something that she was proud of. And she was going to make sure to tell her uncle Jackson about it. But she was going to leave that out in her letters to her mom. But she then noticed that someone else was outside the Slytherin common room door. And this person wasn’t wearing a robe so Dominique thought she was a slytherin. She was waiting to see if the girl was going to open the door. As she was trying to hide the fact that she was a Gryffindor.

Lyra was missing home. There came a certain point where everything reminded her of California. Of her life there. Of her old school, and her friends, an her house, and the ocean, and of everything that she loved that she'd have to leave behind. Before long she'd at least get to leave Hogwarts for a little bit, but in a way that would be harder.

Even though she would be at "home" (she still couldn't bring herself to consider the house they'd purchased in London her home), and would be with her parents, she really would be even more isolated than she was now. Here she at least had her roommate Mariah, who seemed to understand her hesitations about this new place. But most of all she had Mary-Kate.

She had the girl she'd known since they were both itty-bitty-tiny, and at this moment, when all she wanted to do was cry, she knew that the young Slytherin would be the best person to cheer her up.

That's why she'd decided to sneak into the Slytherin third year dorms, just to spend some time with the younger girl. It wasn't hard to get out of her dorm, through the common rooms and dungeons, and to the entrance to the Slytherin common rooms. The hard part was that she seemed to have forgotten the password.

She was standing, trying to figure out what the password was when she heard footsteps approach behind her. Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of another girl but she quickly smothered the look with a sheepish smile. She tried out her best British/English accent and addressed the girl, careful not to give herself away. "Oh, thank goodness you came along. I'm just dreadfully sorry, but it seems I've forgotten the password! Would you be a dear?" She restrained a giggle as she realized the fake accent was maybe a bit exaggerated, but hoped it would work.

Dominique wasn’t sure what she was going to do. But she knew that she was going to have to pretend as if she was a slytherin. And she was sure that Mimosa has said it before. But she couldn’t remember it. As her best friend would always find her outside and would sneak her in. And she wasn’t ready to out herself. But she really didn’t know what to do or say either. Telling this girl that she was a Gryffindor might not be the best. And she could act like she couldn’t remember. Because that wasn’t going to be a lie either.

“ Sorry I have forget to.” Which Dominique hoped that the girl would believed her. She couldn’t help but giggle over her fake english accent. “ I am guessing you aren’t from England?” She didn’t want to think that she was making fun of her. Because that was something that Dominique would never do. “ Don’t worry I am actually from California. But I always have wanted to attend Hogwarts like Mimosa.” Maybe if Dominique made the girl feel more comfortable she wouldn’t have to fake an accent to fit in.

The other girl had forgotten. Of course she had. Now how would they get into the...

“I am guessing you aren’t from England?”

Lyra's cheeks reddened and she shifted nervously before dropping the accent with a small giggle, giving in. "No, I'm totally not from this crap hole."

“Don’t worry I am actually from California. But I always have wanted to attend Hogwarts like Mimosa.”

This got her interest and she straightened, her face breaking out in a huge grin. "You're from California too? That make you the third other person here that's from my home state!" She paused and her eyes widen. "Wait, you aren't a Slytherin either are you?! You're here to see Mary-Kate too!" She nodded quickly. "I've known her since we were children. Modeling gig. She's pretty much my best friend. Or at least the best one here."

She frowned slightly. "Wait, why would you ever want to come here?!"

Dominique was glad that she could giggle with the other girl. “ Don’t worry I did the same thing when I first came to Hogwarts in my first year.” It was something that Dominique did so that she could fit it. But she then remembered she didn’t care what anybody else thought of her. And she didn’t care that she didn’t have an english accent. She smiled when the girl knew she was from California. “ Yup I am from Los Angeles.” Now it seemed like she had been caught. “ No I am not a Slytherin but I am in Gryffindor.” She was just upset that she just told on herself.

She then raised her eyebrow as she had no idea who the girl was talking about . “ Mary- Kate? don’t think I know her. But I am here to see my best friend Mimosa.” Dominique was excited when this person said she was a model. “ Oh that must be fun. It is something that I always wanted to try.” She then was being asked why she even wanted to come to Hogwarts. “ My parents actually wanted me to go to Salem. But I wanted to go to school with my best friend. So my parents made some donations to the school.”

She shakes her head quickly, "I really don't care about my accent, just figured I would pass as a Slytherin better if I tried to be British or English or whatever." When the girl said she was from Los Angeles Lyra tilted her head. "I never went there, but I've of course heard of it. I'm from Huntington Beach."

She giggled at the other girl's admission that she was a Gryffindor and nodded. "I'm a Hufflepuff, so you're safe with me. I guess we're supposed to be like... super friendly and... like, loyal and shit. I don't know."

She shakes her head with another giggle. "Sorry, of course you wouldn't. Mary-Kate is Mimosa. Long story short, my nickname for her is Mary-Kate, and her nickname for me Ashley." The fact dawned on her that they didn't actually know each other's names, so she so she offered the other girl a hand to shake. "My real name is Lyra though."

She wrinkled her nose at the girl's explanation. "But Ilvermorny is amazing! And California is so much better than this place. I can't imagine ever purposely going here. I mean, it's not a bad school but it's not home in any way, shape, or form for sure."

Dominique listened as the girl thought that an accent would help her be a Slytherin. “ Oh you would love Los Angeles. I am sure that you can come visit me. “ Dominique loved it when she would invite people. And she knew that her mom wouldn’t mind. “ Ok I have heard of Huntigton Beach.” Dominique knew traveling was something that was on her list to do.

Well it seemed like this girl was in a different house. “ Oh I had a friend who was Hufflepuff. But she is already done with Hogwarts.” And she wasn’t ready to admit to anybody that she still had a crush on Sterling. Dominique knew that it was just a matter of time till someone found out. But she would deal with it later.

She then started to laugh when the girl was talking about Mimosa. “ Oh ok now I get it.” Dominique smiled as she reach the girl hand to shake it. “ I am Dominique Greene.” She then listened as Lyra was talking about Ilvermorny. “ Hogwarts have become my second home.” Dominique really loved Hogwarts and she always knew that she wanted to be here. But she could understand why Lyra would say that. “ Why didn’t you go to Ilvermorny?”

She shakes her head. "No offense, but if I'm going to have a chance to go back to California I'm going home. The beach is the best thing about the state anyways. But I guess if I end up getting to stay for the summer I could visit?" She nodded in agreement as the girl spoke of having known someone in Hufflepuff who had now graduated. "I don't really understand Hogwarts houses yet if I'm honest."

She paused at the name Greene. "As in Fox Networks? Like uh... uh..." She paused to think for a second. "Tessa? Tessa Greene?" She paused, a blush creeping over her face for a second. "Sorry, my dad's a politician."

She sighed at the girl's question, scowling and looking down at the ground as all her homesickness came flooding back. "I did go to Ilvermorny. I just transferred on the first. My mom moved us across the world basically to expand her brand..." She trailed off, not wanting to say any more for fear she would tear up or her voice would break. She refused to cry in front of this girl she had just met, crying made a horrible first impression.

Dominique then listened to Lyra which she understood what she was saying. Because she would of said the same thing. “ Ok but you have to visit me as I know you will love it.” Her house was always opened and she knew that her mom wouldn’t saying much. “ Don’t worry about understanding the Hogwart house. I mean it isn’t like we are in just hanging with the people in our house.”

She then listened as it seemed Lyra knew who her mom was. “ Yup that would be my mom.” Dominique then heard that her dad is a politician. “ Oh that is so cool I know my uncle Jackson is one also.” She then smiled as she was talking .” Has your dad been on Fox? I mean I could always put in a good word for him.” It was always nice when your mom was the president.

Now Dominique was feeling bad as she could tell that she made Lyra upset. “ I am so sorry as I should have never asked that.” Now she was curious. “ Your mom expand her brand?” She knew that Lyra was model but she had no idea what her mother did.

She nodded quickly before gasping softly at an idea. "Oh! You could come and visit me too! Over the summer, or... or even over winter break!" She grinned widely at the thought and nodded quickly. "I'm sure my parents would be thrilled at the thought of me having made a friend." She laughs softly at the mention of not hanging out with people in their own house. "Hey! That's not true. One of my new friends is in my dorm. We're roommates! Her name is Mariah."

She nodded quickly. "He might have been? I don't really know. Monroe Fletcher? I'm not really sure what channels he's been on so far."

She shakes her head quickly with a small sigh as Dominique apologized. "No, don't be sorry. I just... it's still fresh. You know?" She shrugged as the girl asked about her mom's brand. "She has a clothing brand. It's pretty popular in the Americas, so my mom wanted to expand it to Europe, which partly meant being here and so... we moved."
