Full Name: Lyra Maya Fletcher Age: 14 Date of birth: 6th, April, 2011 Birthplace: Huntington Beach, California Current home: London, England Blood Status: Pureblood Sexual Alignment: Bisexual Wand type: 11 1/4 inches, griffin heartstring, hornbeam
Hair color and style: Dark brown/Black, naturally slightly wavy but a lot of times she straightens it, comes down to just below her shoulder blades, wears it down most of the time but enjoys putting it in braids and buns when it’s too hot out to wear it down. Eye color: Piercing blue Height: 5'4" Body type: Slender, athletic figure. Dress sense: Lyra is very much a California girl. As such, she wears a lot of short sleeves and shorts, though in the cool temperatures she bundles up the best she can, not used to much cold weather. As much as she loves her crop tops, short sleeves, and sun dresses, Lyra has found that long sleeves can be adorable too, and has taken an especial liking to sweatshirts. Birthmarks: Lyra is freckly, especially on her cheek bones and nose, but other than those she has no birthmarks. Tattoos: She's not one to want permanent drawing on her body, especially because she could just draw on herself and it'll wash away, rather than painfully imbedding ink into her skin that will stay there forever. Scars: Lyra is careful enough to not get her body mutilated in some way, thank you very much Piercings: Lyra has her ears pierced of course, what girl doesn't after all? As for anything else, she hasn't ever seen a reason, or had a desire, to get piercings elsewhere.
Likes: - The beach: Growing up on the coast, Lyra grew very accustomed to the sand and the ocean. It quickly become her favorite place and she had a specific spot that was mostly hidden from other people that she liked to go when she needed time alone, just to think of to not have to deal with her life. - Surfing: Another perk of growing up on the coast is that surfing is a pretty normal hobby. But for Lyra it’s more than that, it’s a passion. Back home she pretty consistently surfed every day, as long as the weather and the tide was good. Like her beach hideout, it was something that helped her relax, and separate herself from the rest of her life. There was something so freeing and solitary about it, and it was the main thing she missed about her home. - Running: In addition to surfing, running was one of Lyra’s favorite pastimes. In the same way that surfing did, running along the beach in the early mornings had always given Lyra a very freeing feeling. This, she felt, was the one thing that keeps her sane while being so far away from the place she grew up, she is still able to run, and even sometimes plays ocean sounds on her phone, puts in her headphones, and closes her eyes, pretending she was back home with the salty air filling her lungs and sand slipping under her feet. - Modeling: Lyra has modeled since she was a young girl, originally for her mother’s clothing lines, until she was well known enough to attract other employers. She’s slowly become more and more we’ll known in the US, and hopes to continue her career in England. - Summer: The warm weather reminds her of back home, and is the only times she can wear her favorite short sleeved shirts, sun dresses, and short shorts. - Swimming: Lyra has always been a fan of the ocean, and of water in general. This definitely includes swimming, and she can still remember when she was younger and would pretend to be a mermaid. - Clothes: As the daughter of a fashion designer you either learn to love or hate clothes. As a model, it’s usually a love. For Lyra that is certainly the case, and she is even toying with the idea of working for her mother as a fashion designer as well as a model when she’s older. - Fashion design: Nearly every little girl wants to grow up to be just like their mom. When Lyra was little that meant someday becoming a fashion designer. From a young age she started learning what colors were cute together and even started sketching her own clothes. The passion continued over the years and to this day she sketches clothing designs, some even being used by her mom. - Sewing: Part of designing your own clothes is being able to make your ideas come to life. Lyra often designs her own clothes, and sews them to make a real piece of clothing. The best ones are often incorporated into her mother’s fashion lines. - Occasional alone time: As a model Lyra feels like she’s constantly in the spotlight. As much as she loves it, and soaks yo the attention as much as she can, it can get tiring to feel like she’s constantly on. Being able to take some time alone is what keeps her going, and while she draws her energy from being around people, sometimes it can get to be a bit much for her. - Perfume/Cologne, Nice smelling body soaps, Nice smelling lotions: Lyra always wants to feel like she smells good. While she never wants to smell overwhelmingly like any scent, she does enjoy experimenting with different smells. She seems to prefer more flowery scents when it come to perfume. To her the faint smell of a nice cologne is the hottest thing a guy can wear. - Makeup: While Lyra doesn’t want to be a cake face, a little bit of makeup makes all the difference in the world to her. She doesn’t use much foundation unless she has a specific zit or blemish, but love to use lipsticks/glosses, eyes shadow, mascara, eyeliner, and the very occasional blush. - Coffee: Lyra doesn’t know anyone else her age who enjoys the bitter taste of coffee, but she absolutely loves it. Her mom used to make her drink decaf, but since she turned fourteen her mom decided she was old enough to have caffeine. - Other cultures: Lyra is fascinated by cultures beyond her tiny bit of experience in life, and took it upon herself to learn about them. This included random fun facts, their languages, and nearly everything she could absorb about them. - Quidditch: Ever since she was itty bitty, Lyra has loved quidditch. Of course, this is mainly due to her parents being huge fans, but she grew up with the rules and joys of quidditch pounded into her head. When she attended Ilvermorny, her love of quidditch only grew when she joined her houses's quidditch team. - Quodpot: This is an American broom game, on a similar scale as quidditch. This is a game that Lyra's also enjoyed since she was a tiny child, much in the same way as Quidditch, for it is another sport that was always enjoyed in her household. She was also on Ilvermorny's Quodpot team. - Animals, magical and otherwise: Lyra owns and cares for both a cat and an owl. But, through her schooling both at home and at Ilvermorny she'd grown to recognize her love for animals. Care of Magical Creature is def one of her favorite subjects.
Dislikes: - Slobs: In Lyra’s opinion you’re only worth hanging out with if you care enough to look nice. Knotted and messy or greasy hair, worn or dirt clothes, body odor or hair, or anything of the sort will make Lyra walk the other way. Her opinion is that if you don’t care enough to take care of your appearance you probably aren’t worth being friends with. - Liars: Lyra can put up with a lot. But lying is not one of those things. For Lyra, lying is the quickest way to make her not want to spend time around you. She would much rather hear the truth, no matter how bad or painful it is, than be lied to. - The cold: Lyra is a California girl down to her very bones. Being cold is not her jam. She hates everything about it, from the uncontrollable shivering, to the goosebumps, to the feeling that you might never be warm again. She would much rather sweat and get heat stroke than be cold. - Breaking a nail or chipping her nail polish: This May seem like a vain thing, but for Lyra it really isn’t. Just because she wants to look her best doesn’t make her vain right? As soon as her nail polish chips is when Lyra has them redone or paints them herself. - Gum: The sticky, chewy, messy substance has just never appealed nor made any sense to Lyra. It was loud, annoying, and altogether useless in her opinion. - Video games: Another waste of time in Lyra’s opinion. They teach you no skills and are quite literally used to simply waste time. She just didn’t see the point in them. - Stereotypes and social pressure: Lyra believes that people should be able to be themselves, no matter what that looks like. She hates whenever someone else, or herself is judged based on their social ranking, color of their skin, or Merlin forbid their blood status. She knows that these are things we can't change about ourselves, and to judge other people for things that they can't fix is hella stupid.
Strengths: - Ambitious: Lyra usually knows what she wants, and she’s not afraid to go after it. - Honest: Part of hating lies means that Lyra rarely tells them. Unless it were absolutely essential, Lyra would not lie. - Responsible: With two extremely busy parents Lyra learned to look after herself. This made it so that Lyra is very responsible, and capable of not only taking care of herself, but others. - Sewing: Lyra is a quite adept seamstress, and has learned to make nearly anything she could think up over the years, even if it doesn’t turn out perfectly on the first try. - Bi-Lingual: Lyra is fluent in not only English, but also Spanish and French. She also knows some German, Latin, and Italian. - Quick learner: Lyra has always been quick to pick up on things, from the time she was a child and was talking before many other kids her age. This of course helped when it came to her studies on cultures and languages. - Artistic: Lyra is creative, which most certainly helps when it comes to creating her clothing designs. - Confident: Lyra is a very confident person. She (thinks she) knows who she is, and what she wants, and isn’t afraid to speak up for herself. She is not cocky, and she knows that just because she thinks she knows something, doesn’t mean it’s actually true. That doesn’t keep her from contributing however, but it does allow her to be open to criticism and the possibility of being wrong. - Flying: Growing up, her parents taught her to fly from a young age. Because she grew up in a wizarding community, she hadn't ever had to worry about being seen by muggles, as long as she didn't stray from the boundaries of her neighborhood. This skill only grew when she joined her house's quidditch team at Ilvermorny.
Weaknesses: - Blunt: While Lyra doesn’t usually want to purposely be rude, or hurt people’s feelings, she also doesn’t possess much tact. No tact and being pretty much completely honest all the time results in Lyra often coming off as rather blunt. - Hot headed: Lyra can have a bit of a temper. If you set her off, she is not one to hold back. - Privileged/Somewhat spoiled: Lyra sometimes has a hard time remembering that not everyone grew up with the luxuries she did. This can sometimes come across as spoiled, though she doesn’t realize it. She has a bad habit of taking her privileges for granted, not considering the fact that she has it better than a lot of people out there.
Positive traits: - Adventurous: Growing up, Lyra had a lot of time on her own while her parents were busy working. In this time her parents were pretty lenient on what she was allowed to do, as long as she had her cellphone on her in case of emergencies, and as long as she didn’t go too far from home. A lot of times she’d pack a bag with some snacks, a sketch book, some water, and water else she wanted and go exploring in her neighborhood or down the beach that they lived near. - Bold: Lyra is someone who isn’t afraid to be who she is. As a model, she has to maintain a certain image, and not make too much of a fool of herself. That said, Lyra believes her quirks make her who she is, and it doesn't matter where she is, photoshoot, home, or school, she is determined to be who she is and not let other people's expectations, prejudices, or stereotypes stop her from being herself. - Optimistic realist: Lyra knows that not everything happens in a way that you may want it to. Things happen in life that suck. However, she chooses to see the good in as much as she can, and tries her best to look on the bright side. - Mature: Because her parents have always been so busy with work as she was growing up, she spent a lot of time taking care of herself. This led to a maturity that is above some of the other children her age. - Opinionated: Lyra is not afraid to speak her mind, and if she doesn’t agree with something she is sure to speak up about it. This being said, she doesn’t fool herself into believing that her ideas and opinions are always right, only that they have a right to be heard.
Negative traits: - Reckless: Growing up, Lyra hasn’t really had much bonding time with her parents. Of course, she would still kill someone or die for either of them, but that doesn’t mean their relationship is super strong. This being said, she sometimes acts out for the sole purpose of getting attention, from them or otherwise, and doesn’t always consider the consequences of her actions before she does things. - Sarcastic: Lyra has a habit of using sarcasm. Always. The girl has sarcasm dripping off of her every three sentences practically. She doesn’t use it to hurt people, but more in a humorous manner. - Holds a grudge: Once you’ve wronged Lyra it can take her quite a while to get over it. And if you lied she will take a long time to be able to trust you again.
From the time Lyra was just a baby, she was a model. Her mother is a fashion designer, and designs baby, children, and preteen clothes, perfect for Lyra to model through the years, though her mother sold the clothes for years before Lyra was even an idea.
As a child in a family of pure blood, there was never any doubt in her parent’s mind that she would display some show of magic eventually, and sure enough her first feat was preformed around the age of four when she decided she didn’t like the delicate colors that had been painted on her nails by her nanny, and changed them herself without ever having to touch a bottle of polish.
Throughout her childhood, when she was really much to young to be left on her own, she was mainly taken care of by a nanny. Her parents each have jobs that require a lot of time. They made sure to make time for Lyra, mainly in the form of watching quidditch and quodpot games and their nightly family suppers, but it wasn’t quite enough for Lyra to ever feel very close to her parents.
As she grew older, both her mother’s brand, and her got more and more well known until eventually other brands were asking her to model for them. Her mother was hesitant at first, but eventually gave in and allowed Lyra to model for more and more employers.
When Lyra was around six years old, she met one of her closest friends. It was her first modeling gig outside of her mom’s brand, and she was a bit lost. That is, until she connected with Mimosa, and for the rest of the photo shoot the two were inseparable. The photographer even took to calling them the Olsen twins since her couldn’t seem to remember their names, and from then on they called each other Mary-Kate and Ashley. They’ve kept in touch since then through texting and emails.
Until the age of nine, her parents required Lyra to have a nanny, and from nine to when she went off to Ilvermorny she was required to have daily lessons with a tutor the homeschooled her. They went through several different ones over the years, her parents always trying to "upgrade" her to a nanny that was "better". She connected to, and spent time with a number of different nannies, that had lived all around the world. This is partly where her love of different cultures came from, as she was able to speak and connect with people from all sorts of different pasts and ways of life.
Through her lessons, her parents had her learn Spanish and French, Spanish because it was the second most spoken language in the states and was spoken by several of her nannies over the years, and French because she had family (most that she has still yet to meet) that speaks primarily French. Through a variety of nannies, and tutors, and pure curiosity she's also picked up quite a bit of Latin, German, and Italian over the years.
When Lyra was eleven she received her letter to attend Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She was sorted the Wampus house and made excellent grade throughout her first three years, as well joining the Wampus quidditch team as a Seeker, and the Wampus quodpot team..
The summer after her third year at Ilvermorny, Lyra’s mom decided to extend her brand. She wanted to be able to have her clothes in stores outside of America, and decided the best place to start would be Europe. Her and Her husband tried to be able to move before the school year started for Lyra, but because of all the hoops they ended up having to jump through Lyra ended up having to move in the middle of her fourth year.
The move was hard on the girl, as throughout her life she never lived anywhere other than California, in the same house next to the beach. Now she was moving somewhere colder, and with no large body of water for her to escape to when she needed. She was grateful that she was now near Mimosa however, as her friend almost made the move worth it.
Mother: Name: Amelia Fletcher Age: 43 Living or Deceased: Living Blood type or Species: Pureblood Occupation: Fashion Designer
Father: Name: Monroe Fletcher Age: 45 Living or Deceased: Living Blood type or Species: Pureblood Occupation: Politician
Pets: Name: Whoo-dini Age: 4 Living or Deceased: Living Blood type or Species: Eurasian eagle-owl
Pets: Name: Missy Age: 1 Living or Deceased: Living Blood type or Species: Scottish Fold cat
Amelia and Monroe’s meeting was not a happy accident, nor a lucky turn of fate. Rather, it was something arranged by their family from the time they were teenagers. There are only so many pureblood families left, and to each family it was important to keep the pure blood alive.
When Amelia was 21, she and Monroe married. Yes, either one of them could have called it off technically, but doing so risked the chance of being shunned from their families, and that was something neither of them were willing to risk.
Amelia later found out that she was not expected to be able to have children. The couple was devastated, as they had genuinely grown to love each other, and had been looking forward to starting a family together. They decided to keep trying, and ended up having Lyra, though Amelia nearly died during child birth. Monroe had always wanted a son, but after Lyra they couple decided they couldn't risk trying to have another child.
Amelia and Monroe decided while Amelia was still pregnant with their daughter that they would raise Lyra to not care about money or blood status. They had both grown up in environments that proved that people who looked down on others weren't actually ever truly happy. There was always one more person to look down on, and one more person to look down on you, and they decided that they didn't want their child to have to worry about that side of the world.
The couple did their best to give Lyra everything she could need, and plenty of what she wanted too. They were both somewhat of workaholics however, and neglected to realize that what Lyra really want and needed was her parent's time and attention.

| Hi Kitty, and welcome back to H&B. We've looked over your app and its perfect for the most part. We just require a little clarification on two counts.
1. You mention Lyra is interested in other cultures, Usually fourteen year olds aren't as curious about the world so is there a reason why Lyra appreciates other cultures/languages/customs etc? Say, did she have a Spanish/Mexican nanny who got her interested in such things?
2. Also see "Bi-Lingual". It's not common for an American teen to speak fluent French and some Latin/German/Italian so a little more explanation is necessary.
Once you've made the edits, please let us know and we'll go over it again.
Thank you

| Winter Break 2025 Winter break. Normally Lyra would spend this time surfing, or hanging out with Sunny. She got to come back to the house (she still refuses to refer to it as home) on Wednesday. Christmas eve it was, and that day, as well as the next two passed without much fuss. Until the grounding. "You've spent too much time on this wretched phone! Holidays are for family, not for texting." Said her father. "Dear, we just want you to be able to make friends here." Said her mom, trying to soften the blow "In your new neighborhood. There's some children your age down the street that I saw playing outside yesterday? We just don't want you spending so much time focusing on the past. We know you're going to miss Sunny, but you really should be focusing on your life here. Make friends, catch up on school work, finish unpacking your room! You know, we own this house now. We could.. we could paint the walls, or hangs pictures, you can do whatever you want with it!"But before anything her mom said could sink in Lyra was already tuning her out. She tried everything. She screamed, she cried, she pleaded, she threw a fit, she tried to negotiate, nothing worked. So fine, if they were going to take away first her whole life, and then any connections she had to that life maybe she would create her own life. Better yet, she would go back to her old one. Yes, that's what she would do. The phrase 'go to your room' went in one ear and out the other, though Lyra did as she was told anyways. But she didn't do it because they told her to. She did it because she wanted somewhere she could lock herself away from them and just be alone. Bide her time. That time came Monday night. She had taken a couple nights to make a checklist and slowly grab the things she needed. Now they were all stuffed into her bottomless backpack. She went over her supplies list one more time, reading it carefully and making sure she had it all. - Food: Check. She pulled out her marshmallows and her canned frosting and her leftover salad from the night before one at a time, making sure she had enough to last her a couple days. - Clothes: Check. She counted a grand total of three outfits fit for London, mainly because she was extremely limited in warm clothing, but she packed several warm weather outfits, since she would need something to wear once she got to California. - Cat food and Missy: Check. Missy was rubbing against her legs and she'd made sure to pack as much cat food as she could sneak into her room. - Money: Check. She'd been extra sneaky with this step! She'd gotten ahold of her dad's wallet and taken all the cash he'd had in there. It also helped that her mom kept her purse in the same place when she was home, and Lyra had been able to sneak out the cash that she'd had in there as well as a credit card. - Transportation: Check. Lyra had her Skyscraper! She was just lucky that Missy had no qualms about flying. She would be in her bag of course, but still. She didn't need a cat freaking out while she was trying to fly. She had the last minute thought to grab her diary, and with her checklist complete and everything she could even think she could need back in her back pack she clicked her tongue softly for Missy to follow her, swung the bag onto her shoulders and moved to her door as quietly as possible. Every sound she heard felt a thousand times louder than it was. Her heartbeat pounded in her ears, and she was certain her next door neighbors could hear her bedroom door's hinges squeak. She winced with every step she took, the wood floor creaking under her feet. At home they had carpet floors, much easier to sneak around upon. She reached the front door without being spotted and was out without incident. She continued down the walkway on her tiptoes, padding slowly away from the house at first, then faster, then faster, until she was running down the sidewalk, wrapping her arms tight around herself as the cold evening chill touched her skin, and crisp December air burned her lungs. She stopped only for a moment at the thought of Missy and scooped the small cat into her backpack before taking off again, surrounded only by the sounds of the night, her sneakers slapping against the pavement, and her breath coming quick in her ears. She ran for a long time until her legs and side burned and she was gasping for breath. Only then did she slow and spot the first problem with her plan. She'd forgotten to bring water. Sweat rolled off her as her hydration left her steadily, and while she was trying to think of how to address that problem she was presented with the next one. She didn't know how to get to California. "One problem at a time Lyra" she muttered to herself, cooling off as she walked, scanning the buildings around her. The first order of business was to find something to drink. The first place she spotted that would have water bottles was a small grocery store, so she entered carefully, glancing around to make sure she didn't see anyone she recognized. But, of course, she didn't. Because she hardly knew anyone at Hogwarts, and all the people who would know her were at home. She purchased several bottles of water quickly, as well as a couple different maps, earning a couple weird looks from the cashier, but otherwise successfully purchasing her beverages all on her own. The maps and all but one of the bottles went into the bag, the other guzzled greedily by the American witch before being refilled at a water fountain and dropped into the bag as well. A quick restroom break and she was on her way again. A smile spread across her face as she continued walking. She was proud of herself, she'd already solved two problems in on go after all! She had water, and she had a way to find her way home. The only problem now was that she was freezing. Freezing and tired. Why hadn't she thought to get a blanket or a better coat while she was in the store? She could sleep on a bench or something, but she didn't see any benches, and it was much too cold in her opinion to be sleeping outside. She could pay to sleep somewhere, she supposed, but the closer she was to the house, the more likely she would be found by her parents. A flicker of doubt set in. Did she really want to have to sleep outside? She shook her head, clenching her jaw. Of course she did. She could endure a night outside if it meant that she would be going home. Eventually Lyra couldn't walk anymore. Her legs screamed at her to stop and she looked around. It was nearly dawn now, and she didn't see anyone around... Out came her broom and soon she was rising into the air, though the higher she flew the more her small frame shook. The air was even colder once she was above the clouds, where she couldn't be seen by any of the muggles or no-majs or whatever. Her teeth chattered as she flew and part of her worried she might fall off her broom with how much she shook. But it didn't matter. She was going home, and at least she didn't have to walk. Bright side. She flew for what felt like forever before she was forced to stop. Her eyes would hardly stay open anymore and every bone in her body screamed for rest. She landed in an area that she saw nobody occupying and looked around quickly, putting her broom back in her bag as she did. It looked like she was in a small town, she had no idea where. She found a space under a large tree, let Missy out to do her business and set out some food for the small cat, curled up on her side, and went to sleep almost as soon as her head touched the soft grass. The smell of mint toothpaste awoke her, and she opened her eyes to see a face inches from her. A scream ripped out of her throat and she scrambled backwards awkwardly, her backpack that she'd forgotten to take off still on her shoulders hitting the tree behind her and preventing her from moving any farther. It took a few moments to realize she wasn't in any danger, a policeman crouched in front of her. "Sorry, god. I didn't mean to scare you, just was trying to make sure you weren't dead." He peers at her and she shifts carefully, not sure how to respond. "Heeeey. You're that Fletcher kid aren't you?" Her eyes widen and she stands quickly. "Fletcher? Never heard that name before in my life." Her eyes scan her surrounding until she spots Missy and hurries to go to scoop her up when a hand catches her arm. "I don't believe you. Your parents are really worried about you, kid. I need to get you back home." She stares at the man for a moment before pulling away quickly, grabbing Missy and taking off running once more. "That will never be my home" She says more to herself than to the man she was leaving behind to talk into the radio on his shoulder. Of course, she doesn't make it far. Once they knew where she was she was found, taken home, and pretty much grounded for life. She got her phone back though! After a long talk with her parents that included some screaming at each other, and some crying together, it was decided that they would always allow Lyra some form of contact to California. In return, Lyra swore to never run away again, and to try harder to adapt to her new life. They decided all together that they would call England home, but that California would forever be called their heart home. And, Lyra decided that one wall of her room would be a mural of the ocean, so she'd never forget where her heart truly lies.
