Winter Valentine: Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion Show 69631450-kyiv-ukraine-october-13-2016-audience-watching-the-show-during-the-39th-ukrainian-fashion-week-at-my

One of the more prominent features of the event were the myriad of games and activities organized for students and parents alike. The snow and ice sculpting contest was for students who wished to show their artistic side through building, the Quidditch Pitch converted into a reindeer racing track tested students abilities to control and ride a magical beast to the finish line in hopes of prizes, the sleigh rides offered generously by the PTA took a dozen students at a time aboard a glistening sleigh and flew them up to the towers of the castle, making a round of the gently, magically snowing skies, the photograph booth was set up to capture moments with family and friends.

And then there was the Winter princess/mermaid Fashion Show.

Because the organizers had gotten stuck on which theme to go with, trying to incorporate both the lake and the winter aspects of the event, they had decided to go with both. As a result, a runway of solid ice had been constructed by the large oak tree in the ground and bedazzled with lights to mimic an actual runway where girls (and boys if they so chose) could walk down to applause and cheers wearing their finest costumes depicting either a royal or a mer-person. The prize for first place, a decent twenty galleons to spend on whatever the winner wished.

Already, a small crowd was gathered around the shimmering runway, the music beginning softly as the first contestant appeared on stage in their specially designed costume for the occasion.

(OOC: To participate, please create a post describing yoir alk down the ice runway and post a picture of of your chosen costume. A winner will be determined by a random dice roll at the end of the thread. Best of luck <3)

A fashion show at Hogwarts! There was no way Lyra was going to miss that. So, after doing her share of talking and gossiping with her friends, skating, grabbing a glass of punch and a couple snacks, and even getting asked to dance a few times, she decided to head to what she'd really been waiting for. The fashion show.

She'd made her own dress for it and everything, and couldn't be prouder of herself. Well, she didn't make it exactly, but the design was all her own. She'd even drawn up her own pattern for it. She'd just had to send it to her mom, along with a description of her perfect tiara and silver flats, and her mom had sent the dress, flats, and tiara back with her dress for the dance. It had only taken a moment to go change into the dress perfect for the runway, her movements while changing careful so she wouldn't ruin her hair or makeup.

The next thing she knows she's on the runway, music starting up in her ears. A deep breath in and she's starting down the ice, her usual moves working perfectly. Swinging, fluid walk, dazzling smiles, and plenty of crowd pleasing poses. A jutted hip here, a blown kiss there, and she was back off the stage in no time. Hard to think she'd designed this whole dress for what felt like a two second showing. But it didn't make it any less satisfying to know that her first ever dress had been shown off. And the proud, slightly teary look on her mom’s face had been icing on the cake.

Appolonia hadn't really thought much of the fashion show that was going to happen during the Winter Valentine Affair, she certainly hadn't thought that she'd be attending the fashion show as one of the girls on the runway that was for sure.

Two days before the ball was to take place, however, Apollonia had received a nondescript silver box with her name written in neat calligraphy and the name of her grandmother as the sender on the back of the card. Her birthday wasn't for a while yet and Christmas had long past so she was quite curious as to what her grandmother had sent her. However, as she opened the box the first thing she saw had been a small piece of parchment folded in half that she opened and read carefully.

Dearest Apollonia,

I know that you already have your dress for the ball, your sister had sent me a picture of it and while I'm not happy it's so short it's certainly going to look lovely on you, however I have heard that there is going to be a Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion show as one of the activities that the students can attend and the guests can witness.

I took the liberty of contacting a seamstress that I know and asked her to design a dress for you for the show. She didn't disappoint and came up with a very lovely designed, I okayed it and she had it ready within three days.

Along with the dress I have also included heels and a box with some jewellery. I hope that you will like them.

Waiting for pictures,
Grandmother Thea

When she had finally looked at the contents of the box, Apollonia's lips had pulled into a soft smile and her eyes glittered at the thought of attending the fashion show that she had initially thought to not bother with.

As she made her way to the dressing rooms behind the runway, Apollonia smiled ecstatically as she saw her dress hanging in its cover with her name tagged to it and her shoes and jewellery box next to it. It took her quite a while to actually change from her ball dress to the fashion show one but when she finally stood in front of the tall mirror, she couldn't help but admire herself for a few seconds.

The dress that the seamstress had designed for her was quite beautiful, once again it was white and she was coming to love the colour, the patterns on the dress quite beautiful themselves. While you couldn't see her shoes, they were around one or two inches bigger than the one she had worn for the ball and the jewellery that her grandmother had sent her was the delicate kind, only to be worn for one night before being hidden away again for another special occasion to come by.

All in all, Apollonia loved how she looks and she already made plans to get her grandmother's seamstress friend to design her dresses from then on.

As she walks out on the runway, Apollonia's smile is polite and her steps careful but also elegant as the train of the cloak around her shoulders dragged on the floor. It had only been a handful of seconds, the walk down the runway and back, but in that moment in time Apollonia actually felt like a Princess.

She mentally made a note to get a picture of herself in the dress before she even took it off, maybe she'd even wear it for the rest of the night.

PostSubject: Re: Winter Valentine: Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion Show    Winter Valentine: Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion Show EmptyThu Apr 04, 2019 9:03 pm

After the picture session with Jake, Miss Harrington and the babies, Mimosa had skipped off once more in search of Mercy. This time though she had remained more focused and finally found the older witch out on the lake, skating by herself. In fact, the child had been so happy to see her best friend that she'd slid right on to the ice, her soft ballet shoes transforming seamlessly into skates mid step and ensuring she didn't lose her balance even for a second. Mimosa glided into Mercy's view, doing a perfect pirouette before stopping  and drawing closer to the witch, using Mercy's sturdy frame to to stop the motion.

Of course, this found the two girls very close to each other, face to face and staring directly into each other's eyes. Letting out a giggle, Mimosa inched forwards, rubbing her nose against Mercy's slightly before pulling back. 'Where did you gooooo? I was looking all over for you!" she exclaimed, stepping back to gesture out towards the whole set up. "And you didn't even ask me to dance," she pretended to huff, but not really mad because it was okay if Mercy didn't want to dance with her. They could do whatever else the Gryffindor wanted.

After a little bit of back and forth, the girls decided to go head towards the sleigh ride, but Mimosa had to remind Mercy that she had to win the Fashion Show real quick. After all, Grandmere had sent her a dress and Mimosa had to participate or everyone attending the event would be terribly disappoints. She had however promised Mercy they could do the sleigh ride after.

So hand in hand, both witches set out towards the runway that gleamed and glowed, arriving just in time to see Ashley take the floor in a sparkling silver gown that made her look like a fairy from a fantasy movie. "O M G, I love ehr dress!" The twelve year old squealed, pointing to Lyra who did an expert turn at the edge of the stage, showing off the full glamour of her gown. "I hope mine is as good." The Slytherin still hand't seen her own ensemble for the event but knew it waited for her in the "backstage" area.

The next model to take up the floor was Loni, a breathless vision in white as her glittering heels stepped forth, her mermaid dress sweeping around her and making her look like she was floating instead of walking. Had Mimosa been anyone else, her mouth would have dropped open in awe but palace etiquette made sure the girl only stared with big, blue eyes as Loni walked like an angel down the runway.

"I'm never going to be as good as that," Seema Biswas's groan was heard somewhere beside her and Mimosa turned around to see almost everyone had gathered around. Ji Hyun stood with his sister and Charles, Catherine and Constance lumped into their group. Gaspard stood a way off  and just to his side Squid Boy with some unimportant Hufflepuff.

"You are telling me, I can never compete with that!" Dia spoke up, agreeing with Seema and making Mimosa feel... She wasn't quite sure. What was the feeling when you felt you weren't the best at soemthing?

Luckily there wasn't much time to ponder as the redhead returned backstage and the next name was announced. As always, Mimosa didn't really hear it. but she was forced to look up when the next participant walked on stage.

Winter Valentine: Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion Show GUEST_3bf6d29a-2ba6-4561-83de-7f5311f1ffe0?wid=488&hei=488&fmt=pjpeg

Like Loni, the next performer had also chosen to go with white, but that was where the similarities ended. While Apollonia's dress had been slim, figure hugging and tactfully revealing, this girl had chosen to wear what resembled a flour sack over her body, held cinched at the waist only by a weird belt made of silver disks. Her hair pulled together in two massive and mismatches buns on each side couldn't hold her head up straight and when she lifted her robe (which would later be revealed to be fashioner from an old sherbet), white sneakers peeked out from underneath.

"Merlin, is that Bushrah?" Someone called out from behind her and Mimosa's eyes nearly bugged out. She hadn't even recognized the girl without her hijab.

But Bushrah it indeed was, as evidenced by how uncomfortable she was onstage, looking to her left and right and unsure which way to walk. The Gryffindor had clearly gotten ready in the dark, Mimosa concluded uncharitably. The lurid pink lipsticks she had applied was not neat, the foundation she had on at least three shades lighter than her skin and her hair... now looked more lopsided than ever.

"Hey everyone, look at Bushy Bushrah!" Charles yelled from behind them following it up with a loud guffaw that forced Ji Hyun to join in. "What a bloody munter! We came to see actual girls!"

Almost against her will, Mimosa let out a giggle. Never had she wanted to laugh at stupid Charles' jokes but... he had a point. Bushrah looked awful. Why hadn't she just written to her Grandmere to help with a dress?

"Put your towel back on!" another voice yelled as Bushrah began her tentative journey down the runway, having trouble navigating in the too long robes. This time, it was one of the older Gryffindor boys. And now, the laughter was too loud for anyone to to be heard over it. It grew and grew as the Gryffindor walked down the runway, slipping once or twice despite her sneakers. And she really brought the house down when it came time to turn.

With her back towards the crowd, the witch attempted to do a graceful turn, only to have the sheets tangle up in her feet, and send her down headfirst.

Bringing her sheet robe dress with her, exposing her dark legs and pink shorts underneath to the audience gathered below.

The runway seemed in actual danger of collapsing at the roar of laughter this elicited from the crowd.

PostSubject: Re: Winter Valentine: Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion Show    Winter Valentine: Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion Show EmptySun Apr 07, 2019 8:54 am

Nikolai didn't really know how they'd ended up at the Winter Princess/Mermaid fashion show. It hadn't been on purpose, that much was for sure! But after leaving the reindeer to their own devices -- and avoiding the races because Nikolai really hadn't wished to see the reindeer get hurt, Mariah and he had aimlessly wandered back in towards the main event, stopping to get hot chocolate (and in Nikolai's case, more sausage rolls) talking about anything and everything they could come up with.

Perhaps the crowd heading that way (headed by Mimosa, of course) had brought them in, or perhaps they'd just gotten here by accident, but as Nikolai munched from his pile of sausage rolls, answering Mariah (mostly) after finishing his mouthful, the boy found himself in front of the stage, not overly interested in any of the comings and goings.

There was Lyra, he noticed, but his interest didn't really hold much further than that as he returned his attention to the conversation with Mariah instead.

The next contestant had made him a little more curious, and Nikolai had found himself missing something Mariah had said as he all but gawped at the older witch's outfit. His eyes definitely didn't know where to look in that moment, and was it the hot chocolate going through his system, or had everything just gotten hot out here? Catching himself (more than a few moments later) Nikolai had returned to the conversation with Mariah, sheepishly asking her to repeat some of it because he definitely had missed a chunk of it upon seeing the Grecian witch like that.

It was the next name, though, that made Nikolai's feature turn in to a frown.

"Did they just announce Bushrah?" Nikolai asked Mariah, his attention not on the stage. For once he was thankful for being just a bit taller than most of the kids his age, as it made it really easy to see over them, and up on to the stage. The frown that had touched his features only increased as he took in the sight of Bushrah, dressed as Princess Leia, walking down the stage.

Seriously, she'd opted for Star Wars?

A smile touched Nikolai's features at that. Who still liked Star Wars these days? It was so old now. And, Merlin that was one way to take the brief of 'princess' if there ever was one.

"What a bloody munter! We came to see actual girls!"

Nikolai's chest gurgled with a soft laugh, one that left his lips slightly as he watched Bushrah on the runway. Charles had never really been that funny, truth be told he was a bit droll, but for once, his joke actually touched the mark. Who wanted to see a girl in a bed sheet walking the runway?

But the loudest laugh of Nikolai's came as the witch fell over.

A laugh that only grew as everyone else around him laughed at the witch. People falling over -- so long as they didn't get hurt -- was always funny, and this was just the icing atop the cake in that moment.

"Oh gosh, did you-" Nikolai paused, laughing too hard to talk as he looked to Mariah. "Did you see how she hit the floor?" He asked, not managing to contain the laughter as everyone continued to laugh at the poor witch atop the stage who was trying her best to get back to her feet, recover somehow, but she was much, much too late for that to ever work!

Mariah wasn't really one for competition herself, but she enjoyed supporting her friends in their endeavors, so as she and Nikolai made their way back to the main party, the crowd forming at the fashion competition drew her interest. She knew very little about fashion, and she didn't necessarily think it was the best idea to compare people based on how pretty they were, but in her mind it was at least better than reindeer racing, and she could appreciate the hard work the competitors put in. So she looked on with some fascination as the two of them drew closer.

The first person to appear on the stage was Lyra, someone Mariah actually knew and considered a friend. Mariah smiled at her from the crowd, applauding along with the rest of the students. Lyra took to the runway like a natural, and Mariah wondered if she'd done this before. She of course looked stunning in her gown, but Mariah mostly admired her charisma and how comfortable she looked on the stage. She hadn't seen any of the other competitors yet, but she thought her dorm mate had a real chance. Even if she didn't, Mariah would have probably rooted for her anyway.

As Lyra finished her walk, Mariah turned back to Nikolai, resuming their conversation from earlier. After a few moments, the next contestant was announced, and she glanced back up to see an older girl take the stage. She was absolutely breathtaking, and Mariah didn't hide the fact that she thought so, clapping just as hard as she had for Lyra. It was obvious these girls put a lot of effort into how they looked. They deserved to be appreciated.

She glanced at Nikolai, giggling a little at his wide-eyed expression.

"Do you know her?" Mariah asked. She knew she must have seen the older witch around at some point, but she couldn't pinpoint where.

Before he could answer, the next name was announced, and Nikolai's expression changed to one of confusion. Mariah looked up at the stage. She didn't really know Bushrah, but the name rang a bell. Wasn't that the Muslim girl who hung out with Nikolai's group? It took a long moment for her to recognize the girl's face. She looked...different somehow. Oh! Mariah's eyes widened as she realized what was missing. She took off her hijab.

It was then that the rest of the picture registered. Not only had the girl removed her head scarf, she had styled her hair in two lopsided buns, and her outfit was a cheap and ill-fitting Princess Leia costume. She looked hopelessly out of her element as she navigated the runway, and Mariah's hands flew reflexively to her mouth as she gasped, eyes wide with concern as she stood transfixed by the scene. Oh, no, she thought as a chitter passed through the crowd. A sharp pang of secondhand embarrassment flashed through her, causing her cheeks to flush.

As the jeers rang out from the crowd, Mariah looked around in horror, trying to find at least one sympathetic face. Why was nobody putting a stop to this? The poor girl didn't deserve to be subjected to ridicule from her peers. Where were the teachers? Wasn't someone supposed to be supervising? A surge of protectiveness shot through her as she looked back at Bushrah's face. The girl was still walking steadfastly forward despite the reaction of the crowd. Underneath her mortification and her anger at her peers, Mariah felt a swell of admiration for the girl's bravery. If Mariah had been in her place, she would have bailed immediately, but Bushrah pushed on.

That is, until she reached the end of the runway and tried to turn, tripping over her robe and falling hard. Mariah inhaled sharply, wincing at the sight and reflexively moving forward as if to run up and help the girl to her feet. She stopped herself after one step. She wasn't that brave. She looked around again for an adult, either a teacher or a chaperone, but she couldn't see anything through the mass of students.

One laugh stood out from the rest, originating from right beside her. Aghast, Mariah turned her indignant gaze toward Nikolai as the boy guffawed along with the crowd. She shook her head in disbelief as she found herself at a loss for words. She couldn't believe him! He was better than this, wasn't he? She'd always thought he was better than this.

"What's the matter with you?" she blurted furiously, shoving past him. She needed to find an adult. Surely someone must be nearby? She sent a final pitying glance toward Bushrah as the girl struggled to her feet, then ripped her gaze away. She couldn't take it anymore. She ducked and weaved through the crowd until she emerged on the outskirts, searching for anyone who might know what to do.

Merlin, modeling was so much fun! And she of course, with her years of experience, had been perfect out on the runway, shoulders back confidently as she slipped backstage once more. She only felt a flicker of doubt at the sight of Apollonia who looked absolutely stunning! Of course she had to go on before that!

She gave the older girl a wide grin and a thumbs up. "Warmed them up for you! You're gonna knock em dead, you look fab!" She encouraged the Slytherin before moving to change back into her other gown that she would wear for the rest of the night. She heard the clapping of the crowd and knew Loni was doing amazing, as she always seemed to do. She was just effortless gorgeous it seemed.

She had only just finished changing and was looking around for her mom when Bushrah's name was announced. She took a minute to congratulate Apollonia before going to peek out and watch Bushrah's walk. The... robe? pillow case? sheet? whatever the girl was wearing was enough to draw an immediate frown from Lyra as she took in the added silver disks around her waist, white boots that she seemed clumsy in to say the least, and lopsided buns that the girl sported. Yikes.

Laughter was already starting to trickle through the audience as the girl walked down the runway, but it increased at some comment that Lyra could only hear enough to recognize someone was talking. It only deepened her frown, but she sent her silent support to the girl as she watched. And then the girl hit the floor.

Lyra let out a small gasp despite herself and glanced over her shoulder, calling for her mother only to see she was busy helping another student get ready. So without another second's thought she rushed out from backstage to give the girl a hand, helping her pick up the length of her skirt so she wasn't tripping on it as she wrapped the other arm around her and hurried her backstage, sending glares at the still laughing audience. "Ignore them, they're just assholes," she murmured to her as they walked as fast as the poor girl's feet could take them without stumbling.

PostSubject: Re: Winter Valentine: Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion Show    Winter Valentine: Winter Princess/Mermaid Fashion Show EmptyWed Apr 10, 2019 7:27 pm

Nikolai had only managed to nod mutely to Mariah's question of knowing who Apollonia was, not currently being able to talk because the Greek witch looked too stunning to manage much else. Besides, did anything else much matter in that moment? Names surely didn't matter enough to warrant talking about it.

But the silence was lifted as Bushrah entered.

"What's the matter with you?"

Another time, Nikolai might have worried about what Mariah had said, but his attention was not on his friend, but the funny scene atop the stage. As Mariah's smaller frame pushed past him -- though hardly making him move -- Nikolai's features remained creased with laughter as he drew closer to the boys in the group who had all pulled out their phones and were currently recording the scene upon the stage. Either in full bursts of film capturing the whole ridiculous thing, or in short snippets on Snapchat which were being sent around the school like FiendFyre with captions that varied in nastiness.

"What was she thinking?" A Ravenclaw boy asked, laughing as his phone caught a very good angle up Bushrah's skirt, capturing the pink shorts underneath the white robe with ease. A smirk touched his features as he quickly pressed send and the message delivered to the group WhatsApp chat most of the third year boys were apart of.

"Merlin only knows, obviously thinks that made her pretty!" Ji Hyun replied, flicking through his phone and laughing all over again as the video of Bushrah falling down hard repeated itself again and again.

"Look!" Nikolai called out, pointing up to the stage. "It's the stupid American girl come to save her."

"Oi, Hans Solo, leave the Princess to save herself!" Charles shouted from the crowd, bringing forth a fresh wave of laughs from the crowd.

"How does that song go again..." Nikolai mused, before remembering. "Dun. Dun. Dun. Dun. Dun!"

For a moment, the boys look confused, before everyone managed to click on. From the middle of the crowd, the sound of the Imperial March started to sound in a chorus of fourteen year old boys, before... after a brief introduction, the Ravenclaw boy who'd caught Bushrah's photo put his wand to his phone, muttering the Amplifying Charm so that the actual song from the Star Wars franchise played loudly over the crowd as Lyra and Bushrah retreated back stage.

All of the boys looked much too happy with themselves, many of them nursing stitches as they gathered around each others phones to ensure that the maximum damage was done to the two witches who had just left through the distribution of all the images that had been captured on all their phones.

Nikolai being much too happy to partake in it all, too.

Mariah made it away from the crowd, but couldn't find a chaperone anywhere. She looked back up at the stage to see Lyra leading Bushrah away from the jeering audience and felt a rush of gratitude and appreciation for her housemate. At least one person had some compassion.

And then a familiar voice called out from the crowd.

"Look! It's the stupid American girl come to save her."

Mariah's skin felt hot as she scanned the crowd for Nikolai, not wanting to believe what she was hearing. But there he was, in the middle of a group of boys, singing and laughing and mocking the girls on stage. Mariah simply stood dumbfounded, alone at the edge of the audience, lips parted slightly in shock as something inside her crumbled. She felt numb. She didn't know what to do.

She wanted to get out of here.

Her feet started moving of their own accord, carrying her away from the excitement. It was all so wrong. She couldn't believe everyone could be so horrible.

She couldn't believe Nikolai could be so horrible.

The commotion continued, but she tried to block it out as she skirted around the crowd, finally realizing she would find no sympathy there. All of them were clearly enjoying themselves, and the thought made her face burn with anger instead of embarrassment. How could they be so...cruel? Not just to Bushrah, but to Lyra as well. Her frown deepened as Nikolai's comment ran through her head.

If Lyra was a "stupid American girl," what did that make her?

Lyra. Lyra understood. Lyra was the only one who'd actually shown some decency - more than Mariah had, in fact. She'd actually been brave enough to do something.

And now she's paying for it.

Mariah quickened her pace as she came to a decision. She may not have been brave enough to run onstage like Lyra had, but she could still do something to help. Leaving the audience behind, she made her way around to the backstage area, quietly slipping inside.

She needed to find Lyra and Bushrah and let them know somebody was on their side. Humiliation was terrible, but it was even worse having to deal with it alone.

After Squid Boy and Mimosa started dancing, Mercy retreated some distance away and found herself on the edge of the ice rink. Having nothing better to do, she pulled on some skates and glided out onto the ice, trying to get her mind off of...whatever this was. She couldn't even pinpoint what it was she was feeling, just that she didn't like it and she wanted it to stop. She moved across the ice in slow circles, winding lazily around some other skaters. So many people were skating in pairs. Every giggling, hand-holding couple she passed made the bad feeling intensify for some reason, so she made a game of pretending she didn't notice when she glided in between them, forcing them to break apart for a few seconds to get out of the way. It cheered her up a little bit.

Just as she was growing bored of skating, however, she heard the soft scrape of someone else approaching, and turned just in time to see Mimosa, catching her effortlessly as the smaller girl spun around and closed the distance between them. Mercy's mood instantly brightened, the contact alone bringing a grin to her lips. Her heart pounded furiously as Mimosa brought her face even closer, and she stood stock still as they brushed noses, hardly daring to breathe lest she ruin the moment.

"I've been right here the whole time," she responded to Mimosa's question, but she trailed off as she processed the Slytherin's next comment. She blinked. "You wanted to dance with me?"

If she'd known that, she would have asked. Mentally berating herself for the missed opportunity, she tried to recover some of her composure, taking Mimosa's hand. "If you still want to dance later, we can," she offered, trying to tamp down her eagerness at the idea. If she danced with Mimosa, that would mean Squid Boy had nothing over her. She didn't really know how to dance, but she was sure Mimosa did. And if they were dancing to one of those slow songs, there wasn't much to it as far as she could tell. Most people just held each other and swayed to the music. She could manage that.

Now that Mimosa was here, the world was right again, and Mercy forgot all about her earlier mood. Mimosa's hand fit comfortably in hers as they made their way off the rink, the promise of a sleigh ride - just the two of them - making Mercy feel warm and happy despite the surrounding ice and snow. It seemed it would have to wait, however, as Mimosa remembered she was supposed to compete in the fashion show.

Normally, the idea of a fashion show would be incredibly boring and unappealing to Mercy's interests, but since Mimosa was competing, she followed without complaint. She was confident Mimosa would blow the rest of the girls out of the water, even if she turned up in what she was already wearing. She couldn't imagine anything prettier than the girl at her side right now.

They arrived to see Lyra on stage. Mercy really hadn't the first clue about what was considered fashionable to most girls, but she had to admit Lyra looked really nice in her dress. She nodded emphatically at Mimosa's comment, figuring she probably knew what she was talking about.

"You probably have nothing to worry about," she maintained as Mimosa wondered about her own dress. "You'd look good in anything."

Next up was an older Slytherin, and even Mercy could tell she was stunning. Still, it did nothing to shake her confidence that Mimosa would win. She might just need to try a little harder.

She turned to look at Mimosa as the older girl left the stage, and she was about to say something when she heard the next name. Wait. Bushrah?

She returned her gaze to the stage incredulously as the girl stepped out, and her confusion was quickly replaced by a snort of shocked amusement. She looked awful! Mercy was a fan of Star Wars, but Bushrah made a terrible Princess Leia. The younger girl was always trying to pretend she was cooler than she actually was. Mercy had always found it annoying the way she hung out with Mimosa's group simply because she wanted to be a part of something. It was kind of sad, really.

A shout from the audience brought a peal a laughter from her lips as she watched Bushrah slip about on the ice in her bedsheet. Serves her right for thinking people actually like her. Mercy didn't know of anyone who actually liked Bushrah. They all just tolerated her because she didn't do anything.

As the rest of the crowd joined in, Mercy couldn't help but enjoy the show. She cackled as Bushrah fell over, cracking up at the girl's pink shorts. Glancing at Mimosa, she saw that the other girl was laughing as well, which only made her laugh harder. Maybe the fashion show didn't have to be boring after all.

As she wiped a stray tear from the corner of her eye, she looked back up at the stage to see Lyra had come back on, helping Bushrah to her feet. She guessed it was nice of Lyra to do that, but for some reason that just made it even funnier because Bushrah couldn't get up by herself. A song started up from somewhere in the audience and Mercy recognized it as the Imperial March. As the song grew louder, she gleefully joined in, ushering the failed Princess Leia off the stage.

She turned to Mimosa as she finally calmed down, a stray giggle bubbling up every now and then as she replayed the image of Bushrah falling over in her head.

"Well, you're definitely going to win now!" she told the Slytherin, confidence completely restored and then some.
