| Ever since their Transfiguration class where they discussed animagi, Jurian had been worked up about the subject. While it would have been interesting to find out what animal his personality represented, and what kind of adventures he'd be able to have in such a form, there was something the Slytherin girl said that had him freaked out. Thinking about the forced transfigurations he wondered if the girl had seen them done here at the school. Would that be his fate if one of the professors or even the headmaster caught him pilfering from the school? He couldn't stop thinking about it and as a result he found himself wandering around in search of someone who could answer his questions. Professor Hughes was too busy so that meant it had to be a student, preferably the girl from class. With that, Jurian had made his way towards the dungeons.
Unfortunately, he forgot to take in the account that he had a very poor sense of direction. The boy had been turned around a few times and swore that he'd passed the same spot at least twice before he stopped. Huffing, he placed his hands on his hips as he glanced around. "Aw, come on! I really gotta find someone today. Please stop turning me around?" he tried to ask the castle nicely. Hoping that the castle heard him and wouldn't twist the halls around on him, he confidently strode down the corridor before he ended up right back where he was not ten minutes later. Pouting now, the boy looked up towards the ceiling and asked, "Really? It's important you know! I promise I'll let you play with me later, okay?" ________________________________________________♮ Larch & Unicorn Tail ♮♮ PROFILE ♮♮ Directionally Challenged ♮There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven’t yet met

| Christmas holidays were fast approaching which meant that Nikolai was running out of time before his Junior Magizoologist Society New Year's party -- and pretty much his route in (or unkind rebuttal) from the society would be in place. His paper on underwater life of the Great British Isles had already been passed to the society for review, but that was not quite enough for the elite boys that would be waiting for him. His name held little to no weight, for anyone who knew the Kessler family would know they weren't from money, nor were they of any great prominence in the Wizarding world.
Yes, his dad had published a few books in the Ancient Runes field, but he wasn't anything special.
And the money Nikolai had won over the summer was resolutely locked out of the way, so he could not buy his way in to the society either. All he had to do was impress the sons and daughters of very, very rich backgrounds to let him join their elite club, so that when he finished school, he had something really good on his CV, but also so that he could access some much more informative books on Magizoology that may help him with his task of the Giant Squid.
That being said, of course, he had to shine first. Nikolai Kessler was not a people person, though, socialising was not his forte, and the only logical route forward, to ensure he did not fail in this task he'd set himself, would be to bring Mimosa with him so that she could dazzle the crowd. That did not settle well with Nikolai though, he wanted to do this all on his own merit. The fact he was very good in the field the group had been made for should have been the key to getting in. But this was not the case, and he was gambling a whole lot on being stubborn.
It was why he had taken a walk that evening. Mimosa was busy with some girl thing, which meant she wasn't on hand to distract him. His book was not keeping his attention, and the boys in the common room were being idiots.
The walk would clear his head, or he could go and see his dad -- if he could be sure he wasn't going to be seen, or... well, pretty much anything could happen. Except what did.
As Nikolai rounded the corner, he found himself before another student. It was one of the younger students who shared a few classes with him, but other than that, Nikolai didn't really know the other boy. The boy was talking to... the castle, if Nikolai had understood correctly, and was asking not to be turned around all the time.
Lost, Nikolai's mind supplied only a moment later, and a soft smile touched the Slytherin's lips. "Bit of pain when you keep getting lost, isn't it?" Nikolai asked of the younger boy as he moved a little closer. "Where are you heading to, I can point you in the right direction?" The offer came, just so that he had someone to talk to in that moment, and to get outside of his own head for as fleeting a moment as this conversation would likely take. ________________________________________________ProfileThanks to Kitty for the signature! <3

| Startling as he hadn't expected company, the twelve year old jumped slightly at the unexpected voice. Turning to face the voice, he saw it was one of the Slytehrin's he shared his Transfiguration class with. While he'd been searching for the girl, the boy had answered some of the questions and had caused Jurian to wonder what some of what he'd talked about. An answering smile however lit his face at finding someone familiar. At the question, he gave a sheepish smile as he spread his arms in the universal gesture that he had no idea.
"I was looking for the girl that sits with you in classes?" He was hoping the teenager would know whom he was talking about since Jurian had no idea what the girl's name was. Chewing on his lip as his mind came up again with the gruesome thoughts and images from the information he'd partially learned in class. His voice when it came out showed a bit of his anxiety of such thoughts. "It's was about what she'd said in class?"
Maybe he didn't have to look for her? Maybe Hogwarts had led him around in order for him to run into the teenager? It seemed plausible. Confidence restored he closed the distance between the two of them and gave a hopeful expression. "Maybe you could help me? Teacher's don't really transform students, right?"

| The explanation of what the boy was looking for was... disappointing to Nikolai. Of course, everybody wanted to be around Mimosa, so why not the younger Ravenclaw? The disappointment would not show outwardly, Nikolai had long since learned to hide such distaste of Mimosa's popularity, but that didn't mean he didn't feel exactly that.
"Mimosa," Nikolai supplied the younger boy, not wishing the boy to make a fool of himself in other's company by not knowing the witch's name. Why he felt he needed to help the younger boy out with such things, though, Nikolai would most certainly not be able to say, but it was out and there was no way of taking it back now.
Nikolai's curiosity peaked when the younger boy continued, though, explaining that he was curious about what Mimosa had said in their class. How anyone could find what Mimosa said at any point to be interesting was beyond the older male, but he waited.
The question was an amusing one, and the smile showed on Nikolai's lips, too.
"There have been cases in which teachers have used Transfiguration on students to teach lessons." Nikolai replied, because everyone knew the stories of how one professor had turned a student in to a ferret before. Then there was the very stupid idea the Giant Squid was a student, too. "But, the professors aren't actually allowed to use human transfiguration on students. No matter what reason they may think of doing it for." Nikolai added, to ease the boy's mind.
"That being said, I would love to see it happen some times." Nikolai conceded, showing he was not adverse to the idea.
"And, I really wouldn't take everything Mimosa says seriously. She's... not the best student."
Though, apparently even that was up for dispute with his own father continuously awarding the witch with Student of the Year for the past three years. ________________________________________________ProfileThanks to Kitty for the signature! <3

| "Huh?" Was that supposed to be the girl's name? Shrugging, he guessed there were odder names. At least he'd found the older boy who'd also been in class with him. Eyes wide he listened eagerly, soaking up what he was told. While curious, his fertile mind of imagination couldn't help but come up with what sort of lessons were taught to such students. Jurian hadn't known that his shoulders were so tense as he waited with baited breath until they relaxed upon learning that they weren't supposed to use such a punishment. Just as quickly as he'd been afraid, his curiosity was piqued the other direction he blurted, "Not even for helping with the animagi thingy?"
As long as he wasn't being transfigured with no way back, Jurian would have loved to see it too! His initial curiosity came back as he thought about what one could be if they were turned into an animal. He nodded along with the teenager a smile creeping back onto his face.
Nodding and taking the advice seriously he replied, "Okay. Thank you!"
It really was a relief to know that he wouldn't have to worry about his mother having to keep him in a lined cage if he misbehaved. "Er...Would it be okay if I ask you things if I don't understand them then?" ________________________________________________♮ Larch & Unicorn Tail ♮♮ PROFILE ♮♮ Directionally Challenged ♮There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven’t yet met

| The question about Animagi made Nikolai's brow raise slightly. This kid obviously wasn't aware of how becoming an Animagi worked, and as much as he would have loved to leave the kid with his misguided ideas, Nikolai opted not to. "That's not how it works," Nikolai broached the subject gently. "Turning in to Animagus form is something that you have to do to yourself, not something that people can do for you.
"There is, of course, human transfiguration, which is what the professors have done in the past to teach lessons, but that is completely different to Animagus transfiguration." Nikcolai explained, before adding. "Being an Animagus is a much more complicated process than human transfiguration. It takes a month of preparation to actually come close to doing the magic, and even then, it'll only work if you're actually a good enough witch or wizard."
The idea of an Animagus form had always been a curiosity for Nikolai, though, and one which he had considered for a time. His only worry, though, would be that he became an animal that would require him to stay in water at all times, which would be one of the most useless outcomes to such a long winded process. The idea of being so disappointed had, therefore, put him off.
The final question, however, brought Nikolai up short. Was he happy to have this kid ask him a multitude of questions? Nikolai considered for a moment, wondering if there was a way to get out of it... but the Ravenclaw seemed hell bent on knowing things, and his first point of call had been Mimosa. That, being the dangerous idea that it was, was enough to make Nikolai's mind up. "So long as you promise not to ask Mimosa questions like this in my absence, then yes, you can ask me all the questions you can think of." Nikolai finalised on, killing two birds with one stone. ________________________________________________ProfileThanks to Kitty for the signature! <3

| "Oooohhhh," Jurian replied a bit relieved as well as equal parts disappointed to learn it was something one had to do oneself. Brow furrowing, the Ravenclaw listened still a bit unsure about what the difference was except that one was harder then the other. Puzzling it out he guessed that what the teenager was trying to tell him was that the animagus thing was more like a shifting ability whereas the transformation thing was like when the professor had them turning mice into snuffboxes. Bemused he realized that this would be something he'd be looking into and likely get 'obsessed' over as his twin would say.
A smile quirked the twelve year old's lips as he nodded. "Understood! And thanks," he added a bit softer. He was relieved that the Slytherin had decided to help him. If it hadn't been for him he might have been stuck in the dungeons until the castle got bored and allowed him out without crossing anyone's path. Then he would have been mildly annoyed as well as still full of questions. Since the two were talking and the Slytherin was feeling generous (along with Jurian's not paying attention to his classmates names) Jurian decided to chance another question. "What's your name? Just in case," he put in.
It wouldn't do if he ended up lost again and couldn't tell the other students whom he was looking for. How many older brown haired Sllytherin boys were in the house? Forget trying to go into a more descriptive appearance. If he'd ever had to give an artist a facial description he'd be pants at it and it would likely come out looking nothing at all like the person he was supposed to describe.
The owls were supposed to be pretty smart here too. So if the teenager didn't want anyone to know he was speaking to a lowly second year, he could always ask his questions via owl, right? That wouldn't be so bad either. ________________________________________________♮ Larch & Unicorn Tail ♮♮ PROFILE ♮♮ Directionally Challenged ♮There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven’t yet met

| Nikolai watched the younger boy with mild amusement, the wonderment on his face, combined with the childlike response to his explanation might have been bordering on cute. Had it been someone other than Nikolai making the assessment in the end. But, alas, it was Nikolai, and the boy couldn't really get behind the excited child's enthusiasm. Transfiguration wasn't his subject of choice at all, and even though they might have been discussing the possibility of animal transfiguration, Nikolai would always be the kind of guy who liked real animals more.
"What's your name? Just in case,"
It was that, though, that had stumped Nikolai for a moment. He hadn't been asked his name in a very long time. Too used to being surrounded by Mimosa and Mimosa's friends who referred to him as Squid Boy without flinching, or else his dorm mates who tossed between Nikolai, Nik or Squid Boy depending on the situation, Nikolai hadn't... thought about giving out his name in a very long time.
And, what worried the boy for a moment was that he had to stop and think about the answer.
"Nikolai Kessler," he offered, not knowing whether the kid before him would be smart enough to tie the relationship between him and the headmaster, or else didn't care enough to think upon it. "And you're... Jurian, right?" Where the name had sparked from, Nikolai wouldn't know, but he must have heard some teacher or other saying it at some point before.
"And, uh, the Ravenclaw Tower is back that way." Nikolai added, pointing up towards the corridor that would connect the younger kid back up to the stairs that would lead to the entrance hall. "Best not to lurk around the halls too much." ________________________________________________ProfileThanks to Kitty for the signature! <3
