| Veronika woke up that morning calm and collected. She'd had all of the summer leading up to the first classes of the year for Transfiguration and she had spent the bare minimum thinking of them. However she had been able to spend just the right amount of time to plan her lessons out for her students. She didn't want to disappoint any of them, or let them leave without knowing just how dearly important Transfiguration was to their lives as witches and wizards. With that determination in her mind she pulled herself out of bed and did a good hour work out of yoga and other little exercises. After showering at six thirty she quickly ate and dressed before scurrying down to the Ground Floor of Hogwarts, her wands dancing behind her and her satchel tight in her hands as it bounced around her while she was heading towards the classroom.
As she entered she ran her fingers through her hair and set up her papers before rubbing her hands together, excited for the new term and new year. |

| Transfiguration was a subject that Jacques wasn't yet sure on, if he was completely honest. He knew enough on the subject to know it was about turning something in to something else, but he wasn't sure what level they would be working at in the lessons. Enthusiasm for Jacques had gone the first day of lessons, and it showed as he stepped through the door and took a seat in the middle of the classroom.
Unlike most first years, Jacques wasn't excited for learning. He could have done that at home, for the most part. Though his parents would probably insist otherwise, for 'social connections'. Jacques hadn't found anyone worth making connections with, so he figured his parents were just telling lies to get him to go to school.
Taking out his book, Jacques simply waited, still not having spoken a word to a single soul in the castle. Biding his time. ________________________________________________ | |

| Transfiguration was to be the class that Ellie and him shared. Also if what Corienna had been telling him she planned on switching her and Stephan into the class as well, and that made Phillip more ecstatic than a hungry hippo surrounded by fish. Isn’t that what hippos ate? He wondered idly as he wandered into class and waited for his sister to arrive with a smug sense of superiority. He already had a class with Caelan and although Care for Magical Creatures was a fantastic class, really Professor Valentine was so nice and so pregnant, he looked forward to sparring with Ellie. This class would be the best way for him and his younger sister to bond.
Ellie and Phil shared this pseudo-rivalry ever since they were born. More often than not she floated off to do her own thing, but when it came to Taela, they always fought for more attention from their youngest. Ellie would always scream something that showed how she really felt before rushing off and to Phil it was so amusing that his sister was in Gryffindor. He would have just guessed from her mysterious aura she’d be a Slytherin, but no, his little sister and him were housemates. He did feel bad that Caelan wasn’t with them, but he couldn’t change the way things were. Rather than socialize like he usually did after cheerfully greeting Professor Hollands he seated himself down and took out his sketch pad. He was going to draw Taela and send the image to her via Caelan’s owl, his own owl was kind of fat and kind of slow.
“Ellie,” he called out when he saw his sister trounce through the door, “what took you so long? I know you weren’t working on your stylish outfit,” he teased as he gestured towards the seat next to him. |

| Alberi walked towards Transfiguration. He found it interesting, though he could not understand it. How did the particles from one object so suddenly transform not only in shape but in structure and atoms and molecules and what else not, just to turn into another. And even more strange was the transforming from an animal, plant or mushroom to some object. Or even one animal to another, if it was possible. It just didn't seem to fit in the boys mind...
After a week of his summer dwealed over how impossible that seems to be, he just gave up and continued learning. If he didn't stop soon, he might be thinking only over that and not over anything else. And it was preferable to think over the other subjects that he shall be learning later in the near. And good that he did, as he wouldn't have anymore time for something else.
Soon the boy found his way to class, asking older students who looked trustworthy enough. He opened the door and walked in. "Good day, professor." he quickly said before sitting at the front of the room, ignoring however was in the room. No need to talk with anyone, really. As he sat down, he took out his subject books from his bag and neatly placed them on his table before waiting for class to start. Hopefully soon. |

| Layla was excited for Transfiguration, having wanted to learn to become an Animagi since she thumbed across it in her book. She had no issue finding the classroom and when she entered, she saw three other students there. She recognised a couple of them, or most of them, from her other classes. She held her books in her arm as she entered the room and took a seat towards the middle of the classroom after greeting the professor.
She was early, which she was sort of glad for, especially after the embarrassment of being late to Headmaster Jameson's class. She had yet to speak to anyone in the castle, but that was fine. She made it through her first year without friends, she could certainly do it again.
She stared at her book, her brown hair tied loosely into a side ponytail that fell forward as she bent her head forward. She found it awkward sitting there in the quiet, but it'd be even more awkward to try and make conversation with someone. |

| Naomi was disappointed to note that her Transfiguration class was split after first and second years, meaning that Finley would have class separately from her, instead of with her like nearly every other class. At least that meant that they'd have a class together next near, when almost all their other classes would be different
When she entered the classroom, the first thing she noticed was the boy who had run into her over the summer in Flourish and Blotts. His name was Phillip, if she remembered correctly, but he seemed to already be sitting with someone, so she didn't want to bother him. The second thing she noticed was the overwhelming majority of Gryffindors, with a single Slytherin the only other non-lion student.
Taking a seat in the front row, Naomi pulled out her materials for the class, then began doodling on her arm with a Muggle pen, as she often did when bored. |

| Ellie woke up that morning irritated and not willing to leave bed even as her dorm-mates bustled around, so instead she just burrowed her face in her pillow and let herself have a couple more minutes of sleep. Now this was wrong of her and she knew it, but it was too early and summer had encaptured her in this spell and she was unwilling to leave it just yet. With that mentality she let herself wake up and hour late, eat no breakfast and dress in the mandatory clothing. It was needless to say but she loathed the thickness of the clothing and how heavy it was on her small body. It pissed her off that she knew her brothers were going to be ridiculously handsome in their outfits because they'd gotten their fathers good looking genes. However she could sometimes look like a roaming elf and so with that in mind she spent a good ten minutes in the bathroom fixing her hair.
Yeah that was a pointless endeavor.
Frustrated she just let it hang in thick waves as she walked through the semi-empty halls towards her Transfiguration class. She pulled her hair into a ponytail as she walked through the door. The teacher gave her a pointed look and pursed her lips but said nothing and let her walk through. To that Ellie gave a clean smile before looking over at her brother with a huff. She sat herself in the seat beside him but refused to acknowledge him as she just crossed her arms over her chest and waited for the lesson to begin. After a moment she turned to her brother and blew a raspberry at him. |

| As each of her students entered the classroom Veronika felt exceedingly proud of each them for opting to do so. Transfiguration was one of the more commonly used types of magic practiced and she planned on explicitly proving the importance of each little factor that went into casting a Transfiguration spell. It wasn't merely just a mental ability it was also very physical; even if a majority of the castor's potency in the spell came from their mental capability in casting magic.
"Welcome to Transfiguration, let's just hop into it shall we?" She asked rhetorically with enthusiasm in her words as she straightened herself up and used her wand to lift the chalk behind her to write the words on the board:
"Regardless of whether or not you are knowledgeable on the subject of Transfiguration or what the formula behind me means this lesson will be about the basis of Transfiguration.
"Transfiguration is the section of magic that focuses on the altering of a form or appearance of an object. This is done through the changing of an object's molecular structure. It can be done with basically all object's and must be done precisely as instructed or taught."
She took a pencil out and with the use of her wand sloppily tried to transfigure it halphazardly into a lizard; rather the pencil grew arms and legs and wobbled around her hand helplessly. She flicked her wrist and turned it back into a pencil after showing her students the poor lizard-pencil amalgamation.
"When it comes to Transfiguration there's a scarce amount of limitations if casted correctly; see how the wiggle of my wrist and the lack of care in my motion created such a sloppy lizard transfiguration? Since you're all children with capable brains I know that you all know that was a terrible example of a transfiguration." She stepped back from her desk and cast another spell; this one with the intent to turn her desk into a tree that stretched up to lightly kiss the top ceiling of her class. It was oak like the desk, she stepped out from behind it with a smile painted on her lips.
"The limitations included in Transfiguration include the following: one cannot conjure food and therefore cannot transform objects into food, one cannot transform someone dead back to life, self transfiguration as a human is not a practice approved by the Ministry to do alone which means that if you were to even merely try and be an animagus you would be under close watch by the Ministry in just practice and then need to be registered as an animagus, and transfiguration is easiest done when there is a correlation between the object being transfigured and the transformation." She gestured towards the tree behind her with a nod. "Although the tree is volumous in size and hardly resembles my desk both the desk and the tree are oak in wood and thus forth focusing on transforming the desk into the tree was not as hard as if I were to turn a raven into a writing desk or some other whimsical thing."
She stepped back to turn her tree back into her desk before stepping to the side of the chalkboard to reveal the equation.
"In this equation the t stands for the intended transformation and it is directly influenced by the bodyweight multiplied by the viciousness of the spell cast, which must divide the multiplication of the wand power and concentration put into the spell casting. All of which is multiplied by an unknown variable." She explained before pausing to perch herself on the desk.
"When I talk about the bodyweight I mean the mass of the object being transfigured and that is being multiplied by the viciousness or the willpower of the castor. This viciousness is also known as the force or power of the spell, meaning if the spell is properly focused on and properly put into play the transfiguration will be successful." She added before continuing onto the next two factors of transfiguration. "Those two factors are divided by the sum of the multiplication of the wand power and concentration put into the casting process." She added, "those are self explanatory."
She rubbed the back of her neck before letting out a small sigh. "That's a rather lot to take in, so I understand if any of you have questions before I lead into my next part of this lesson, please ask away." |
