Moving in to his fifth year was not something that Alexander had liked. Fifth year meant exams that he didn't want to take, and a workload he most certainly couldn't handle. He'd never been overly fond of books, though not because he was stupid, just because his parents had forced it upon him day after day as a child so that he would progress like a man of his name should.
Reading had become a chore to Alexander, and as much as he could, he avoided it.
And his parents had noticed.
Alexander wasn't overly fond of being at Hogwarts, except for seeing his friends and being away from home. He liked to sit about most of the day and let the world move around him when he could, not thinking, not doing anything, just being.
His parents had noticed this too.
Which was why Alexander now had to report to the library every Saturday morning at eight, and stay there until noon. To do his homework, to read up on his lessons, whatever it was the teachers needed him to do. He wasn't embarrassed by the fact he had to go, but it didn't make him keen to work either.
Signing in with the librarian - so that the school could report back to his parents - Alexander moved through the aisles until he got to the seats. It was quiet, as it should be for a Saturday at this hour, except for one person. Alexander moved to her table, sitting down opposite her and pulling out his books.
Which homework was due first? Merlin he couldn't remember...
It was then he took in the witch, knowing she'd been in some of his classes over the years. "Um... Hey. Couldn't lend me a hand and tell me what homework is due soon, could you?" Alexander asked, motioning to a number of books. Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Transfiguration. They were stacking up, but Alexander didn't know the urgency of any of the pieces before him.
