This is during Bennett and Ivan's first year at Hogwarts.
"No!" Bennett complained as they walked among the crowded hallways. Ivan was crazy, the good kind of crazy that made Bennett loosen up. Bennett cared about the future, Ivan cared about the present; they were the perfect pair. Earlier in the year, they had met at the Hogwarts train. A meeting that had surely happened only out of coincidence more than anything. Bennett sat with some first years, his smile bright and genuine, and in the blink of an eye a boy with curly brown hair and steel blue eyes appeared at the door of their compartment. He stood with a smile that matched Bennett's and the slightest hint of mischief in his eyes. Soon, they were all having fun and telling jokes as they passed the time until they arrived at Hogwarts. They were soon sorted into different houses but Bennett and Ivan became unlikely friends. Now, in the middle of January, they walked around the hallways trying to cone up with a prank for the end of the year. Of course, that was Ivan's idea. "No, I'm not spraying paint on Moaning Myrtle's face." Bennett refused again. Nobway was he going to do something so rude. For Ivan, it seemed there were no limits, but Bennett had boundaries on what was a prank and what was hurtful to people. "We can do the typical stuff, like putting tacks on a professor's chair. Or scaring Headmaster Jameson." Bennett suggested. It seemed, however, that Ivan had different plans in mind as he continued on talking about what they could do. For the most part, Bennett listened and put in his thoughts only when Ivan went too far from their abilities. Sure, it would be great to set exploding fireworks all over the Great Hall but they didn't have the money nor the age to even buy the materials. "I swear, Ivan, if it gets us expelled I won't do it. And I won't let you do it either." Bennett settled, as he could tell arguing with the Gryffindor was going nowhere. |

| "Come on buddy! Lighten up a bit!" Bennett was really starting to get on IVANS nerves. He wasn't wanting to have fun! Everything between IVAN and Bennett was working out up until this point. Ivan said, "I'll even let YOU spray paint her face! It won't hurt her shell just freak out and moan about it for a while which will annoy everyone!" That was the main purpose of spray painting moaning myrtles face! Ivan thought he was the most hysterical person on the planet when it came to pranks. He was also a genious. The only downer in this experement was Bennett.
IVAN just wanted one last hoora before they left for second year! Was that so bad?! Bennett started suggesting kindergarten pranks like tacks under chairs and stuff like that. It actually made IVAN cry a little bit. Ivan had done those pranks at family reunions when he was three. At least Bennett was open to the idea of pranking. Bennett had come a long way since the start of term. He was almost used to IVANS recklessness. Ivan smiled and said, "no BENNY. We need to make this BIG! Moaning myrtle will freak and everyone will suffer because of it! Can't you see the professors not being able to teach due to moaning myrtle flying around and complaining all day?! Lessons would be cancelled!!"
If his idea went as planned, he would be a hero! He would be a legend! IVANS eyes practically sparkled at the thought of everyone knowing his name. Of everyone knowing him as the kid who got class cancelled! He would go down in the books! It was then IVAN decided. They would do it even agains Bennett's own will. Whether he liked it or not. Because if he AND Bennett where to do it, Bennett would be famous too! And IVAN thought that the kid could use some publicity and fun in Bennett's life. |

| - OOC:
These next few posts are AFTER Ivan pulled the prank and got himself and Bennett in trouble.
Bennett was furious. No. He was beyond that. Normally, he had a very loud voice when he was angry, he raised his voice and his eyes went wild and he became a total different person, but not this time. His anger went beyond a level that he was familiar with; right then everything sucked but he was too disappointed and furious with Ivan to even speak to him. He walked over to the potions cabinet, filling it up with the ones the Head Healer had recently brewed, his eyebrows narrowed to express his feelings. Bennett didn't even turn to glance at Ivan, because he wasn't worthy of being glanced at. The Gryffindor was an idiot, a reckless one. No matter how Bennett tried to look at things, Ivan had acted selfishly. Bennett had made it clear that spraying paint on Moaning Myrtle's face was not just wrong but it was incredibly rude as well. Incrediblyas. But of course, Krupp had ignored Bennett's warnings and gone ahead with his plan, dragging Bennett down with him. He didn't even have anything to do with the whole thing! Ivan had arranged for them to meet up after classes had ended, and Bennett had gone because Ivan was probably one of his best friends but before he knew it the Gryffindor was calling out for Myrtle and spraying her face with purple paint that was brighter than any other purple Bennett had seen before. Just as Ivan had predicted, Myrtle had freaked out more than anything else. She shrieked, a sound that made Bennett's intestines curl inside out, right before going off on a crying spree and creating chaos. They weren't caught that evening, because Myrtle was crying so badly that any word sthat came out of her sounded like gibberish. For a few days, she cried uncontrollably until finally her words became familiar and out came their names. This was the very first time Bennett had gotten in trouble, the first time he had gotten detention. For the rest of the year, he was being forced to help the House Elves on the weekdays and the Healers on weekends. Every day. After his last class ended, a class he shared with Ivan. Though the actual criminal had the same sentence as he did, Bennett couldn't help but hate the fact that Ivan had betrayed him in such a way. Friends didn't do that kind of things. He took the empty potion vials and carried them out to the box he was supposed to fill with those things, his eyes never looking away from his work. Bennett no longer cared about Ivan or wht he could possible ever say to him. |

| Ivan had done the prank. Ivan had gone against Bennett's wishes and done it. He had gotten Bennett involved, and now both of them were paying price for their crime. Ivan felt a little bad. The conclusion hadn't gone as planned. Myrtle just screeched and moaned for days on end before their names came into the equation and they were caught red handed. Not only were they caught, but Bennett practically hated Ivan. Which wasn't even fair because Ivan was just trying to get street credit for him. Ivan didn't see the problem, but every time Ivan tried to talk to Bennett, he wouldn't even give him the time of day. Ivan had felt a little bad about it, but in the end, Ivan was good at making friends, and he could make another one the next day. But, he had gotten detention for the rest of the year, so he felt that it would be a tad hard to make friends in detention. And considering his detention was with Bennett it made things ten times worse.
Ivan had tried to talk to Benny several times, and apologize profusely, but Benny wouldn't have it. Between the numerous glares and the ignored letters, Ivan was starting to feel a little bit bad about the entire thing. Up until this point, Bennett hadn't gotten into trouble at all. Ivan looked down. He had officially lost a friend. He didn't know what he could do to make up for it. It didn't look like Bennett would forgive him anytime soon, or at all for that matter, and that thought scared him. Here Ivan was trying to play the bad boy, and it had gotten a little out of hand.
He wanted so badly for Bennett to be his friend again. He missed trying to ease Bennett into the whole pranking thing. He loved when it was Bennett who had come up with some decent ideas, and then Ivan would put is own twists into the pranks, and boom. They were actually a really great team, and Ivan would miss that. He would miss the team they used to be. So he started thinking about where his life was at that moment. He wasn't doing a great job at keeping friends, but at the same time, it was good to explore every once in a while. So with that, he put the jars away for the professor in silence. As that was probably what he would receive from Bennett from now on. |
