| Aristotle was buried in his textbooks. Runes, Charms, Transfiguration, Flying...every textbook he had been asked to buy, he had in front of him. He had a few things he wanted to go over before he fully went back to classes, what with the holidays coming up and all. He wanted to be ready for when Dante or Athena asked him stuff about the wizard world and he could just answer from memory rather than having to look through the text. He was too excited to learn as much as he could, even going ahead on some classes, that his eyes were beginning to burn. As it was typical for Aristotle, he had stayed up late trying to make sense of the world he was in. To a boy like him, this was like a dream come true!
He had always wanted magic; there was probably not a single kid who didn't dream of magic, honestly. In every sense, Aristotle felt blessed beyond belief, because who was he to deserve such a life? As his hand moved swiftly across the pages of his notebook, jotting down every interesting fact worthy of remembering, Aristotle sat behind two massive piles of books on a desk in the Study Area of the fourth floor. He was alone, of course, since most kids were getting ready to go home. Aristotle had packed up already, he only needed to wait a few hours before he had to get on the train to pack up his books, which he could now do magically using the levitating charm.
The outside of the hall was mostly quiet, most of the students in their Common Rooms or in the Great Hall, the older ones probably at Hogsmeade. He would have to tell his family about Hogsmeade! Of course, he was not allowed to go yet but he had seen pictures in the library, and he was already fascinated by the little magical town. He was writing down something about potions when his vision blurred. He had been doing the same thing for too many hours without a break, so he put his notes away and sat back on his chair, realizing how hungry he was. He could go down to the Great Hall, but he wasn't sure he wanted to venture out into such a busy part of the castle.

| Naomi was frustrated by her lack of talent at Ancient Runes. Worse, she felt embarrassed about asking Finley for help. Although she knew her friend would never make fun of her for being less than stellar in any subject, it embarrassed her that she'd have to ask Finley for help when usually it was the other way around, and then she felt awful for being embarrassed when it was only logic that Finley had to be better than her at something.
Still, happy as she was that Finley had found his niche, Naomi refused to ask for help and therefore didn't want to study in the Common Room where Finley might see her and ask what she was doing. Instead, she waited until he was busy packing for the holidays, then snuck off with some Ancient Runes texts.
The library was also out, as it was too public, so Naomi made her way to the smaller study room on the fourth floor, one she hadn't used before. However, when she got there, expecting the room to be empty because of the upcoming holiday, she instead found a Ravenclaw... first year, she thought, one she recognized from several of her classes. She paused in the doorway, then walked in to set her books down on a table near his. He didn't seem to have any notes of any kind out, and although there were piles of texts all over the table, he wasn't looking at any. She wondered if he had zoned out while studying. "Um, hi," she said quietly, hoping to alert him to her presence so he wouldn't be startled when he refocussed on the world. |
