| Veronika rolled her sleeves up and stared at her classroom with narrowed eyes.
Today she had a special lesson planned. She wanted to get her third and fourth years into the motions of quick casting, so first she needed to test their ability to cast in the first place. Well not really test, and she didn't want to freak them out, but it was just sort of a way for her to get gauge how well her students could cast spells. Dueling was a combination of skills; to be creative and quick were the first and foremost important part of the action. Veronika set up the dummies for her students. Also they were set up at the end of rows for each student. She perched herself on the desk patiently waiting for them to arrive so she could explain the lesson plan.
"Good morning everyone," she greeted them as they walked in. |

| Once again, Finley had been split from Naomi, and he was a little uncomfortable. Dragging his feet towards the Duelling classroom, Finley slipped through the door and gave a half-hearted smile towards the professor. She already knew about his and Professor Ellingston's project so he didn't need to mention it again.
Instead, Finley dropped his bag down by the side of the room and waited quietly for the lesson to start. He wasn't sure what they would be doing, but with the dummies at the side of the room, he was quite sure it wasn't going to be easy. At least, it wasn't going to be easy for him, others he couldn't say.
Now, all he had to do was wait for a few more people to show, and hopefully they would be able to make a start. And hopefully he wouldn't make too much of a fool of himself. |

| Sumire skipped into class feeling happy and as if she was on a cloud; there was no deny that she was most happy because Felix had owled her a gift last night. They were gorgeous little earrings, teardrop shaped and a vibrant emerald color to compliment her eyes. She put them in that morning with ease, tied her hair up to accentuate them and then got down to breakfast. A few students complimented them, telling her they looked expensive (which didn't matter much to her) but gorgeous on her. A female student even confessed that it brought out a pretty vibrancy to her eyes. Perhaps it was bit conceited for her to enjoy the compliments, but it was a natural response truthfully and she wouldn't not enjoy it. She should have felt guilty, but she didn't.
After breakfast she dashed to dueling class and smiled at the professor before seating herself besides Finley.
"Good morning, how's your day so far been?" She asked him sweetly smiling. |

| Veronika was ecstatic for this upcoming lesson, she was sure that her third and fourth years would excel at it. Or maybe not, there was always that worry that they wouldn't. Except that worry never outweighed the worry that they'd loathe her as a teacher. Reasonably she knew that they could never completely hate her with a passion, but she figured that there was always a chance. Maybe she was that teacher that everyone talked mad crap about behind closed doors; the idea made her cringe, but she was too afraid to vocalize her fears.
She'd written them out last night to her fathers, telling them about everything. It was a long letter that she knew would probably be better spoken, but she couldn't muster the energy to care because things were alright as far as they were concerned. That's all they'd wanted to know anyway. She pushed those thoughts aside and focused on what she'd already planned for.
"Today I want to see your skills in dueling, by that I mean your quick casting abilities and reflexes." She explained, before waving her wand at two of the dummies. One spurted out water from a stick in it's hand and the other casted a stream of light. "They're programmed through small little charms to create an offense that I'd like to see you all defend yourselves against*." She added smiling.
"Your objective here is to disarm and defend." She said after a moment to make their intents perfectly clear.
{{OOC:
Options for the Dummy: 1. One spurts out water like the aguamenti charm 2. One spurts out light that is directed towards the opposing dueler's eyes (not to harm, just like a little flashlight definitely not an LED one thought, just a bit to distract) 3. One spurts out birds.}} |

| Finley had been in his own little world waiting for the lesson to start, so of course, when someone sat down next to him and spoke, he'd jumped a little bit. Looking to the seat beside him, Finley gave the witch a small smile, hoping she hadn't notice him jump because that would be embarrassing. "H-hey!" Finley greeted Sumire, his voice soft so that he didn't distract the professor. "G-good, yours?" Finley asked, a little worried that the professor would tell him off for talking too much.
After that, however, there wasn't much time for conversation because Professor Hollands was starting the lesson, and as ever, Finley was eager to impress the professors by doing well on the theory side of lessons at least. But, to Finley' dismay, this lesson was purely practical and he knew that he was going to struggle a little with it.
Waiting for a moment after the explanation, Finley lifted himself from his seat and moved towards one of the dummies, taking out his wand, and getting himself ready. He wasn't sure as to how this would work, but after a couple of seconds of waiting, Finley was doused in a cool flow of water. Wiping his face, Finley readied himself, trying to think back to his lessons with Professor Ellingston.
Concentrating on a barrier that he wanted to form between himself and the water, Finley thought the word Protego again and again, waiting to see the water before he moved his wand. It took a moment, and the spurt of water came, Finley wasn't quite ready, but with a small move of his wrist, a shield fizzled in to existence and then disappeared just before the water hit it, leaving him covered in water again.
Now, of course, Finley was not under the impression wandless magic would work to full capacity very quickly, but the Ravenclaw was ecstatic from the fact he'd conjured a shield, even for a few seconds. Grinning to himself, Finley didn't see the third, constant stream of water head his way until he was soaked through completely, but by this time, he didn't much mind, he was happy. |

| Veornika was always excited to teach. She truly believed that it was her destiny in life to teach; she loved it! It was just a pure joy to know that some day she’d see these bright young faces graduate. She’d watch kids with bright eyes and wide smiles turn to adults with bright eyes and wide smiles. In fact she had some Beauxbatons girls’ that really relied on her come by more often than not for advice on things that ranged from trivial like shoes to go with dresses to very mature like their parents divorce. She loved having tea with those girls and recounting all the fun they had together and their silly students.
She sincerely hoped her Hogwarts students would be just like that.
“Brilliant class work everyone,” she congratulated everyone, “have a splendid summer and I hope to see you all again very soon!” She beamed as they ushered out, after fixing the room up she set about grading as she absentmindedly wondered what she and Jake were to have for dinner.
