| Veronika played with her hair nervously.
This was the lesson she had set up for her older students to practice Dueling against one another. She had the rules up and intended to run it by them as well as the list of spells that they could use only once the class was full. The next lesson she planned on letting them duel without restrictions on their spells. For now she just needed to see how fast they could work, but before she posted the rules and restrictions she needed to make sure each student had a partner. So for that to happen the class needed to even out and she desperately hoped it would.
Veronika decided the best thing to do was to pull her hair up into a ponytail and take a few calming breathes to soothe her nerves. So many things could go wrong, but she had to have faith.
"Good morning," she said to each student as they entered, knowing they'd have the knowledge to see that not all was right as all the desks had been turned into a dueling stage for two students to duel each other only. |

| Noting the next lesson on his list, Sebastian was quite excited to have a go at duelling. In Italy they hadn't been allowed to duel because of some regulation or other, but it seemed things were different here. In a good way.
Hurrying through the castle, Sebastian made sure to keep the directions in his head that he'd asked of another Ravenclaw, managing to navigate the hallways quite easily. When he got to the door, Sebastian paused for a moment before stepping through, greeting the professor with a soft hello. He was surprised to find that no one was already here, and hoped that someone would turn up.
Standing awkwardly in the classroom, Sebastian wondered if he would need his book for the lesson, or whether it would be practical. But he didn't ask because he wasn't sure if the professor would be open to such questions.
No, instead he stayed quiet and waited for further instructions. |

| Seeing another of Professor Hollands' classes on her list later in the week had once again made Victoria happy. She could once again check on Jake's progress, and hopefully find that he was doing okay, getting better.
After Transfiguration, Victoria had caught the professor and been assured Jake was okay, and that had relieved her stress more than a little bit.
Hopefully today would be more of the same.
Stepping through the door, Victoria smiled at the professor and sent Sebastian a small wave. "Morning." She greeted them both, moving towards the front and putting her bag down. The lack of desks made Victoria realise that this was probably going to be a practical lesson. Her anxiety built low in her stomach, wondering whether they would be paired up or on their own against inanimate objects.
Probably the former... Victoria thought to herself, looking towards Sebastian and hoping that he wouldn't be too judging of her capabilities. ________________________________________________

| If there was another class besides flying lessons that Ethan was sure to attend, it would be Dueling Practice. Ethan prided himself on his attempts to duel with his younger brother and always coming out on top, but that wouldn't matter. He quickened his pace to make it to the classroom early, and he didn't pull any pranks on the way over, which is a rare occasion. He walked in calmly, a lopsided grin plastered across his face.
"Morning, Professor." He said while glancing around at the desks that had been changed into a dueling stage. He could feel the anticipation growing in his insides, as he was very excited for what was to come. He set his things down and shoved his hands in his pockets, leaning against the wall, waiting patiently for the class to begin, his insides growing excited and nervous at the same time as they always did when there was a challenge waiting for him. |

| Duelling was definitely one of the more exciting classes, and thus Alexander had chosen to attend. For the last lesson, at least. He didn't think he'd attended before, but to be honest he couldn't be sure. Slipping through the door after some Gryffindor he didn't know, Alexander was a little disgruntled at the lack of desks.
Sending a nod towards the professor, Alexander kept his distance from the rest of the class, not overly interested in the rest of the persons present.
For a moment, he wondered if Chara would be in attendance, but he wrote the idea off only a moment later. No, this lesson was much too unladylike for a lady of her status, her mother would likely have a seizure at the thought. So, Alexander made a mental note to ask Chara if she would like to try - in secrecy, of course - because he wanted to see (again) what the Hufflepuff really thought of the world. |

| Once she was satisfied with the fact that there was an even amount of students in her class, Veronika straightened herself up. Mentally she was building the confidence to explain what was to happen.
"For your final in this class, you will be dueling each other with the intent to disarm and disable; not the intent to harm or injure. However if either of those happen and I see that it was an accident then that is acceptable. This lesson, however, is a practice duel for you all. Please pair up with each other* and introduce yourselves if you don't know each other." She added giving a smile for an air of ease. She flicked her wand to reveal the rules posted behind her.RULES TO THE PRACTICE DUEL 1. No spells outside of the spell list provided may a student use for this duel.
2. No non-verbal spells.
3. Remain cordial to your dueling partner throughout the affair. "You will all be assessed on your ability to duel as a wizard or witch to see you falter, meaning control your emotions to not allow your partner see you whether you are struggling or not. If I see a duel has gotten out of hand or you've broken a rule, I'll confiscate both your wands and make you spectators for the rest of the lesson." She said sternly before flicking her wrist to reveal the list of spells. SPELL LIST FOR PRACTICE DUEL
- Aqua Erecto (Shoots a stream of water from the wand) - Aresto Momentum (Decreases speed in target) - Avifors (Turns objects into birds) - Babbling Curse (Makes target ramble profusedly) - Bombarda (Creates small explosion) - Cantis (Makes target sing) - Cheering Charm (makes target cheer uncontrollably) - Colloshoo (Sticks target's shoes to ground) - Confundo (Creates confusion) - Densaugeo (Tooth- Growing Charm) - Diminuendo (Forces target to shrink) - Ducklifors (Changes target into a duck)
It was a small list she knew and one she did on purpose to test and see if her students had enough creativity to disarm their partner without the easier spells. "Good luck to you all, and there will be severe consequences to anyone I see who breaks the rules or tries to use a loophole in one of them, or a loophole at all. I'll stop a duel if I see anything I don't like or all duels if I see something I do like happening. Be safe, be polite, enjoy." Then she leaned back to watch the magic happen and hoped for the best. {{OOC: * = If you would rather use an NPC for this duel than to duel with another character you may}} |

| Sebastian listened to the instructions, and for a moment he wondered whether the professor was nervous with the amount of times she repeated that they needed to follow the rules. Only idiots wouldn't, right? Sebastian had always been a good listener, especially when it came to safety of himself and others, so he didn't think this was going to be too much of an issue, truth be told.
When they were told to pair up, Sebastian looked around the room. The Head Girl he knew, from rumours, was very good at everything, so he ruled her out straight away. Then there was a Slytherin boy who didn't look like he wanted to be here very much.
So that left...
Turning towards the Gryffindor, Sebastian decided he might as well take his chances with this boy. Moving towards the boy, Sebastian gave a small smile. "Would you like to partner up with me?" The Italian asked, trying not to look too hopeful in that moment. |

| OOC: As Victoria is nervous in duels, I am going to have her work with an NPC to get the best out of her!
Listening closely to the rules, Victoria took everything on board that they were being told. The fact they would be duelling had not settled her down for a moment, that was, not until she learnt that they would only be allowed to use a set spell list. Going through it, Victoria found that none of the spells could hurt her opponent, and she couldn't help but feel her shoulders relax with this information.
The witch was just about to set off to find a partner when a fellow Hufflepuff came up to. His smile was easy going, and helped Victoria relax a little more. "Would you be my partner, Vic?" The boy, Finn, asked. Victoria nodded in an instant, and they moved off to the side to ready themselves.
Taking on the right protocol, Victoria bowed to her opponent, turning on her heel and taking five paces. The boy was quick, Victoria had to give him that, for a moment later he sent a spell her way, one Victoria didn't quite hear, but managed to get a shield charm up just in time to see it ricochet away.
"Aqua Erecto!" Victoria called out, flourishing her wand quite skillfully as the jet of water shot towards her partner. He side stepped, but Victoria only needed to flick her wand to the left and it his him square in the chest. He smiled a little, and though Victoria found it amusing, her face was one of concentration.
Finn countered with the use of Aresto Momentum a moment later, quickly moving away from the slowing flow of water. Victoria cancelled the spell, her wand ready, heart pounding in her chest from the adrenaline rush. Nothing might be able to hurt her, but she still found duelling to be something of a thrill.
There was only a moment to react as Victoria saw the red stream of the Bombarda curse, side stepping as a small explosion happened by her feet. The Head Girl let out a small squeal of fright, trying not to worry too much.
Another flick of her wand, and the word "Cantis!" brought Victoria back to the duel, ignoring her now thundering heart rate. She sent the same spell thrice, seeing Finn side stepping, and the fourth hit him square in the chest. Hearing her fellow Seventh Year singing Barbie Girl loud enough to fill the room was enough to bring a soft chuckle from Victoria, but only short enough for her to cast Avifors, watching as the birds swooped for her opponents wand, which he dropped in a moment.
The birds picked it up, and after a quick circling of the boy, brought his wand back to Victoria who quickly ended both spells, and hurried to her partner's side to make sure he was okay. ________________________________________________

| Veronika felt eager butterflies in her stomach well up as summer was quickly approaching. She already had plans with Jake, well sort of plans, about visiting his family. She had a few weeks to spend after her birthday with Beatrice and Teresena. Not to mention she planned on taking Thad, and maybe Jake too, to a muggle waterpark one of these days. That was sort of a small fantasy she had- two gorgeous men and her at a waterpark? Too good to be true. She’d at least be able to weasel Jake into coming, perhaps they’d even take Victoria. Maybe Beatrice could stay with her and Jake, she thought as she tapped her finger against her lips.
Except she’d also have to take Jake to meet her parents.
It wasn’t that she was ashamed of her parents, far from it actually. She adored her fathers, very much indeed, but she knew that it could come as somewhat of a shock for others to know she had two dads. Ugh, it was so much more complicated than teaching, she thought bitterly before shaking her head to get the thoughts out of it.
“Have a wonderful summer everyone!” She said after fixing whatever spells some students screwed up on and class was over.
