As Veronica finished off her first few lessons for the younger classes she prepared herself mentally for the older students to arrive. It wasn’t necessary to emphasize the fact that she was nervous about teaching older children, so she didn’t think of it too much. It’s not like they weren’t all clearly younger than her, but it was more of a nervous stemming off from the fact that she would carry the guilt of being responsible for not properly teaching a student the correct and efficient way to duel in an adult setting. This was no easy job that she was pulling off but she was determined to do so with finesse. She hated to go against her word however, she would be.

In their younger years they were most likely taught to duel respectfully and with tact, rather in this day and in their following lessons she’d be trying to break them of being too formidable when dueling. Were they too formidable in their profession, if it be Auror or Potioneer or anything else they could be susceptible to engaging in a duel unintentionally. So in these next lessons she was to be teaching them to duel professionally and tactfully, with intelligence and with cunningness.

With that in mind she steeled her decisions as she waited for her students to pile in.

The last class Alexander had chosen to attend to keep his parents at bay was Dueling. He didn't really want to attend everything because... well, the homework load would be ridiculous and he simply didn't want to waste his time doing it. Not that he did much else, if he was honest, but that was neither here nor there. So for the third time that week, Alexander pulled himself out of bed, changed in to his uniform and trudged off towards the Dueling classroom.

He was first. Again.

What was going on?

Moving to the middle of the class, nearest the window, Alexander took his seat, pulling out a notebook before looking out of the window. The professor was the same one as the Transfiguration class, he'd noted on the way in, nodding in her direction in acknowledgement. It seemed a few teachers took on a lot, to say the least.

Unlike Defence Against the Dark Arts, Victoria was quite good at Dueling. Not because it was easier than her brother's lesson, oh no, but because you didn't have to use offensive magic to win a duel, you could win via the use of defensive magic and a well placed disarming charm, which is how Victoria had managed her Outstanding grade the year before. Though, Victoria hadn't taken it as an O.W.L. in fifth year because she wasn't sure she needed it, she still took the lessons.

Entering the classroom, Victoria was smiling as radiantly as ever, taking in the professor at the front of the class. Professor Hollands was a beautiful lady, in Victoria's opinion, and her teaching style reflected that, or so Victoria believed from the introductory lesson from the year before.

"Good morning, Professor!" Victoria greeted the older witch warmly, moving to the front of the class whilst acknowledging the other student in the room with a soft hello on her way past. Taking out her equipment for the lesson, Victoria sat quietly waiting for the lesson to begin.

Kirsten was bad at Dueling. Well theoretically she was okay - she'd managed an E for OWLs, at least, with a lot of studying. But she was absolutely terrified of it. Dueling in the real world was far too spontaneous and unplanned for her, and she was sure if it ever came to a real duel she'd be unable to even lift her arm, she'd be so petrified and stressed.

Nonetheless, she was carrying on taking the class because she was aware of how important it was for her family. Her father had been disappointed with the E she got, and one of her b rothers was an auror, and an amazing duelist. So even though sitting in the class made her miserable and she felt useless at dueling, she was forcing herself to edure another two years of it. Hopefully if she built up her confidence in spontaneous dueling situations, carried on trying to beat her OCD and learned more spells she could manage an O next year.

"Good morning, professor," she greeted politely as she entered the room. Deciding she really needed to focus in class to get this grade, she took a seat towards the front of the room and began to get out her stuff, writing utensils and the rest of it, as she waited for the rest of the students to arrive and for the class to begin.

Dueling. Probably the first class where he didn't see either Bella or Effie, and that was surprisingly a good thing. Of course, Peter liked to spend most of his time with them but he often got tired of Bella's fangirl attitude and Effie's inability to take something seriously. Being alone would do him some good. As he dropped some confused but grateful First Year Hufflepuff boy off at the Great Hall, he hurried all the way to the Second Floor for his - hopefully - last class of the day. Truth be told, Peter had only glanced at his schedule once last night and he would need to do so again after this class.

As he ran up the stairs, Peter found the Dueling classroom rather easy. Walking in, he found mostly Slytherins had arrived. He took a seat at the back row, not caring much to greet the other students or the professor herself. It was a bit past noon and he was hungry, he didn't have time for any other kind of shenanigans such as mingling. Truthfully, he just wanted his last class of the day to be over already.
