| Just after Jake had set the task, the door had opened and a familiar face entered. The question made Jake give a small smile, he knew Alberi enough to know the boy was not overly talkative at the best of times. "Of course you can join us, Alberi." Jake replied to the young Gryffindor. "Just make sure you try to be on time for next lesson, please."
It was only a moment before Naomi stepped forward to give the spell a go. He couldn't deny he was proud of the young Ravenclaw, it took a lot of courage to go first on something like this. Watching carefully, Jake could see that the fear was obvious and subtly slipped his wand from his pocket in case he needed to intervene. Especially with the physicality of the Boggart.
But, Jake didn't need to step in, the witch putting on a good display without help that made Jake smile from ear to ear as the Ravenclaw stepped away.
"Very good, Naomi!" Jake told the witch as she retreated - away from Finley, Jake noted. "Who's next?" The professor prompted, moving to his desk to pick up a chocolate frog. "As Naomi has shown, this spell is doable, for all of you. And, of course, there is nothing in this room that I will allow to hurt you." Jake encouraged the room, moving towards Naomi carefully.
Once the next person had started their go, Jake handed the frog to Naomi carefully, giving her a soft smile. "Well done." He told the Ravenclaw, truly meaning it as he gave her a small thumbs up. After that, Jake left her to it, moving back to the main part of the room and the rest of the students. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~ | |

| OOC: The following might be a trigger to some people, so I have included my post in a spoiler. Please note it contains emotional abuse, which is not to be taken lightly.
- Spoiler:
Finley had, in truth, been looking forward to getting back in to Defence Against the Dark Arts. With his lessons with Professor Ellingston back in full swing too, his non-verbal magic was getting stronger. Not perfect, of course, Finley still had a very long way to go, but the simple spells were beginning to work without having to say the incantation.
But seeing the lesson for today, the colour in Finley's cheeks was gone in an instant.
He'd barely noticed Naomi step forward until he heard her voice, strained in the moment of trying. He wanted to go to her, to help, but he knew that he would only be a burden to her, not helpful. Waiting until she was done, Finley offered his best friend a small smile in what he hoped to be a well done, watching as she moved away from him and the professor followed soon after.
Waiting for someone, anyone else to step forward, Finley took a deep breath, and stepped forward himself. His head was screaming at him not to do it, but his feet had other ideas. Finley's hand gently gripped his wand, though he never raised it, his body beginning to tremble as if it already knew what was coming.
The trunk before the Ravenclaw trembled, and Finley took half a step back, his breathing shallow, and eyes alert. Only a moment later, it opened and Finley's eyes were reflected before him. In a taller man, who looked similar to Finley in many ways except the hair colour. The man before him could not be identified as anyone other than Finley's father, but he was a confident man, standing straight and looking imposing.
Finley's eyes fell to the floor only a moment later, his body trembling.
"You can't even look at me, can you, boy?" The man asked, though the voice was more imposing than Finley could remember his father ever being. "Not that I want you to, you're nothing, boy. You can't even pass your tests, can you?" The voice continued, and Finley could feel the tears prickling his eyes in that moment.
"The weakness is ever present as well."
"R-" Finley's voice cut off, catching and making it difficult to breath for a second.
"You can't even put one word together!" The voice continued, mocking him in much the same way his father had over the years. Showing clear disappointment in the fact his son had never been capable of finishing one sentence without falling over his words.
"R-Riddikul-Riddikulus!" Finley tried again, but nothing happened.
A mean laughter filled the room. "That's right, boy. You're ridiculous, and that is all you will ever be to anyone."
"Riddikulus!" Finley shouted, moving his wand in the correct manner. Anger was flooding through him, embarrassment tinting through at the thought of everyone seeing this. But mostly, fear drove Finley on to getting rid of the thing that haunted him.
The next moment, in the place where the image of his father had been, a mouse appeared, squeaking in the place of the man who'd been talking, and Finley allowed himself a small smile. Only breifly, before he turned away. Hurried away from everyone without looking. The door was the only place Finley was going to go. And without checking with Professor Newbury, Finley let himself out, in search of the nearest bathroom as the nausea hit him hard.
He'd never told anyone here about his parents. What they were like.
But now... he didn't have any where to hide.
And that terrified him more than anything.

| Jake had been surprised with the person who had stepped forward next to have a go, but pleasantly so. Finley Allen had always been timid, and morbid curiosity had Jake wondering what the boy was scared of. It didn't take long for Jake to find out either.
And when he did, his stomach lurched.
The stutter made sense watching the way the figure spoke. Jake could only guess the man's identity but from the similarities he was sure of Finley's fear. His own father? Jake took a few steps forwards, trying not to get in the way but unsure on what to do.
But, to Jake's surprise, Finley managed to combat the Boggart. The shock made Jake forget to congratulate the boy, only snapping out of it when the door closed behind the Ravenclaw. "Right..." Jake spoke, a little hoarsely than he really meant to in that moment. Clearing his throat, Jake tried again. "That's all we have time for today, everyone. Please note that my office is always open if anyone needs to talk about anything." The words were wasted when the boy who needed to hear them had gone, but he said them no less.
"I'll see you all next lesson." Jake said firmly, putting the lock back on the trunk and moving instantly to his desk to write a note for Professor Ellingston in respect of what he'd just witnessed. The Charms Professor had much more experience than Jake ever would, and he was sure the man would know how to deal with this. Especially as he was aware the Charms professor was tutoring th Ravenclaw in question.
