Since the weather was still pretty warm and the days still sunny, Humphrey decided to go out and enjoy reading his book by the lake. Currently he was working through a book series he'd gotten for his last birthday by Frank Beddor. It was basically a wartime alternate universe of Alice in Wonderland and was really rather intriguing. Familiar characters, like the Mad Hatter for example, was an elite bodyguard. A lot of things were different, but he kind of liked the darker story and the Underland filled with battles. Something about it sparked his imagination, and as he sat near the lake in the sun reading the rest of the world faded into the background. Whenever he lost himself in a truly good book, he became rather oblivious tot he world around him. Casey teased him about it, but he rather enjoyed losing track of himself in stories like that.
After a while laying sprawled out on his tummy, he rolled over to his back and continued reading. Humphrey knew he would probably get a little pink from the exposure to light, but he was enjoying some sunshine and wasn't going to let it deter him. So long as he didn't turn a darker red he would be okay. Refocusing his thoughts on the story, he tried to figure out if the main character really was powerful enough magically to go through with what she had planned. It seemed like a sketchy plan to him, but then again sometimes the sketchiest plans worked far better than expected. He was so absorbed he didn't notice the footsteps as another student was heading closer.
