Defence Against the Dark Arts - Lesson Three (All Years)

With the attack on the school, the Ministry had gone mad with busying all of their staff. Jake was not one of those spared because of his job at Hogwarts, nor the fact he had two very small children. Merlin he hated the pressure that Veronika was under with looking after both their children in these times, but he also knew he had to work to keep all three of them, and Victoria safe.

Jake was, in all fairness, looking rather tired of late because of the pressure. But even if he was exhausted, he was not going to allow this to scupper his students chances of getting good grades.

Flicking his wand, Jake put all of the desks and chairs in place - a second spell cleaned off the dust that had built up from the copious amounts of practical lessons he had taught - ready for the lesson today. Merging all the students together had been the best option here. He needed to make sure that the world knew of the new dangers - well, new to the children, werewolves had been around for years before any of them were born.

Writing up the single word of today's lesson on the board, Jake took up his seat behind his desk, waiting for the students to arrive. Hopefully they would forgive him a theory lesson, this once.

Defence Against the Dark Arts was interest. Defensive mechanisms to save yourself were obviously an idea the Slytherin could get behind. Though, he doubted many people understood the idea behind the theory of the lesson like Arthur did. That was, in his opinion, one of Professor Newbury's downfalls, that he didn't concentrate hard enough on the theoretical element of his class.

Moving up through the masses of people in the halls, Arthur slipped through the door of Professor Newbury's class to find desks and chairs laid out. Probably the only one to find this a good thing, Arthur moved to the second row, taking up a seat and pulling out his notepad with more enthusiasm than anyone should ever, really, have.

Sometimes he wondered how he hadn't been sorted in to Ravenclaw.

Sometimes.

"Morning professor." Arthur greeted the man at the front of the classroom with a small smile, before returning to his notepad and setting up a page.

The castle was either pretty quite, or filled with noise after the attack had taken place. The Ministry was obvious not capable of doing its job and protecting them and that caused a time of chaos for them. And for all these people that had either lost someone, or the person was actually still missing.

Elyah remained silent through all of these, since she was one of the lucky few that were saved as soon as the attack happened, something that made Elyah intrigued enough to search how much of a power her father had over people. But there was also Max. She had not seen him after what had happened, and she was scared. So scared that something bad had happened to him.

Her father had told her over and over again that he was probably fine, and that he was positive she would meet him at school. And all Elyah could do was hope he was right. Else, the little girl was probably going to be broken once and for all.

Stopping just outside the door of DADA, Elyah took a moment to gather herself, silently praying to find Max waiting for her inside, but she already knew he wasn't there. Freddo was not following her, so Max was not close. A sob escaped her throat, but the girl quickly managed to pull herself back together and make her way into the class silently. She wouldn't look up at Professor Newbury. She wouldn't look at anyone.

Defence Against the Dark Arts seemed like a good class to learn right now after that attack. Cassie wasn't really that advanced in this class spells or stuff at all. She knew she needs to learn them now for sure. So she can protect herself or people near her.

She hasn't really discussed with anyone what she experienced that day since she barely has here any close friends. Anyways she walked towards DADA classroom and a few minutes later she was there. She walked in the classroom and smiled.

"Hello," she said even quietly and was a bit of surprised to see there desks and chairs. Mostly barely in this class these were used. She didn't say anything and just did take a seat in the middle row. She looked up on the board and wasn't sure what to say about this subject much. She, of course, have read about it before but same time all that she might have read can't be true.

Another day, another lesson.

Nirek moved down from the Gryffindor Common Room with little and less enthusiasm for the day's lesson. Well, apart from the possibility of running in to Caramarienne and not needing an excuse to be together. However, the Gryffindor did not get his hopes up, more than likely Cara would be with either Elenore or her Slytherin friends, and he would keep his distance, as agreed.

But, a boy could hope.

Slipping in to the classroom, Nirek took in the tables with mild surprise, heading for the back row and sitting down. At least he could switch off from this lesson and not put himself in danger. Which, was exactly what he was planning to do. "Professor." Nirek acknowledged as he sat down, making sure to at least stay in the good books of the teachers, if nothing else, this year.

The word werewolves was on the board, and Nirek couldn't help but be intrigued.

Defence Against the Dark Arts had never really been as valuable as it was now. Christopher could understand the trouble that was spreading through their world, and he was... a little bit scared, truth be told. He'd thought the group to be blood supremacists, but that had been thrown out of the window when a Westbrook had been taken by the group. The Westbrooks were powerful, Christopher was highly aware of that, and the Richardsons were equally as powerful.

Which meant he was not safe.

His parents had written a frustratingly long letter about this, insisting that he stay safe, not do anything stupid in the time left at Hogwarts. That instead of getting on the train to go home, they would meet him at Hogsmeade to apparate him straight home. The idea was not one he liked, he'd hoped for more time with Keona, but that was not something his parents would back down on.

Feeling a little heavy with such thoughts, Christopher slipped through the door of DADA, and moved towards an empty seat without giving it much thought. "Morning, Jake." Christopher greeted their professor, though his tone wasn't overly excitable, he'd been polite.

Defence Against the Dark Arts had come around again, and Elenore was ready for the lesson. Slipping through the door to find chairs and desks, however, threw the young French witch in that moment. It was so unlike Professor Newbury to go with a theory lesson. Perhaps even Aurors could be shaken by the tragic event of the school attack?

Whatever the case might be, Elenore took it in her stride, taking up a seat in the second row and ignoring the majority of the others in the class, bar the professor. Though, however many times Professor Newbury asked them to call him Jake, Elenore could simply not fathom such unorthodox practices.

"Good morning, professor." Elenore greeted the professor, pulling our a notepad and quill from her bag in order to take notes. After all, it didn't hurt to look a little bit eager for the lesson, did it?

Heading up to Defence Against the Dark Arts from the dungeon, Jacques couldn't help but enjoy the anxious glances of those around him. A lot of people were terrified after the attack - his own parents were included in that much. Thus far, Jacques had ignored three letters from his mother insisting that he go careful, and stay out of trouble. She was trying to baby him, and Jacques didn't appreciate it.

Especially when he had more than enough information to keep himself safe.

Pushing open the door, Jacques noted his sister at the front, and therefore made a beeline for the seat at the back of the room. He had no interest in talking to Elenore during class. Though after a moment, Jacques caught up with the fact there were chairs and frowned slightly at the notion, looking towards the board for answers. Werewolves... Now, that was an interesting subject. Halfbreeds that should not be allowed.

Sophie had been hoping that maybe for her last couple of lessons for the year she would at least find someway to manage to make it too all her classes on time. Causing her to walk out of her common room as she let out a smirk, since she knew that when she did attend class she would perhaps by some reason manage to be better than most. Than soon she thought since at that moment she realized that she was acting like her little sister Madison who was the total opposite of her. Then with a thought she looked as she entered the class looking around and began thinking for a minute.

What would they be learning for their final lesson, looking around at the other students.

Wondering if any of them truly cared about their education. Then leaving Sophie to soon look as she soon peered and wondered as she eyed a few more students. And wondered if any of her siblings were going to even bother attending class. Leaving Sophie to look and she soon brought her attention to Professor Newbury waiting intently to be instructed.

Leaving her to wonder.

Out of all the classes Tristan enjoyed DADA the most as he made his way. Wondering that maybe if he liked it so much he would have attended and it caused him to soon let out a low sigh. Then before he knew he was on his way looking around the castle. Hoping that he would not be late since he did not want to get into any trouble. And soon looking around wondering what he would do then soon he took a thought for a second as he soon made his way.

Tristan had then managed to finally make it to the classroom with some sort of guilt that he was late. Since he knew that he was a slacker and soon he took a seat. Peering around the class and soon thoughts raced through his mind and he wondered what he would do. Then he soon brought his attention to the professor as he looked around.

The boy wanted to learn and now he was ready.
