The Main Ball Rsz_un10

With the emergence of the news of the capturing of the Nightshades, a healthy balance of normality had been brought through the wizarding world. It had, therefore, been quite an easy decision for Adelaide Goshawk in that moment. Hogwarts had, and always would, be reliant on the funding from many and more of it's alumni. For Hogwarts to succeed, therefore, Ms. Goshawk would need to keep favour with her sponsors, ad allow them to see the school as it was.

A pride to all who saw it.

As a business woman, it came easily to think up the idea, and therefore, a Ball had been announced to not only students and teachers, but to the whole wizarding world. Anyone who wanted to attend could, and Adelaide would make sure the school was on impeccable behaviour to show both prospective students and the wealthy individuals what the school was about.

Invitations had gone out the first day of October for the Halloween Ball -- fancy dress was optional, of course -- and there would be both food and alcohol aplenty. The latter being carefully monitored so that the children couldn't sneak off with any.

The day of Halloween had been given as a free day to the students to prepare for the Ball, and the castle had been transformed to befit the business opportunity. All Adelaide could hope for now was the right people to get involved with the school...

OOC: The Ball is open to all, please feel free to post as any and all of your characters who are interested in attending!

If you would like to post outside of this topic (for couples, or one on one interactions so that it's tidier, please feel free to use the forum created for the Ball!

When Prim heard about a Halloween Ball happening that October, she had been ecstatic, very much so. She loved dancing so a Ball would enable her to dance to her hearts contents until she tired and collapsed in a happy bliss on a chair. She knew that costumes weren't a requirement so she had debated between a few of the costumes that she had chosen before she finally decided on Tinkerbell. The small fairy had always amazed Prim whenever she read her stories so a costume in dedication to the green-clad pint-sized human was a must.

She had the costume custom made by a Muggle-born seamstress who had been happy to make it for Prim even if Prim could only pay in small instalments for the dress. It hadn't bothered the young woman who just smiled happily at her and shooed her off after giving her the dress.

Now she was walking down to the Great Hall, her steps light and a pair of translucent wings on her back that were charmed for her by Professor Vasquez to look like they were flapping slowly. She had light makeup on her face, just some powder on her cheeks and light pink eyeshadow with just a smidge of lip-gloss. Her hair was in loose curls around her shoulders with some of them framing her face.

It wasn't anything fancy but then again Prim didn't need to do much to look the part of the small fairy. Beaming, the Gryffindor witch stopped by the door, slightly to the side, to wait for Max with whom she agreed to meet here instead of the Gryffindor common room which was jam-packed full of students waiting for their dates for the night.

PostSubject: Re: The Main Ball   The Main Ball EmptyThu Sep 14, 2017 6:17 pm

The news of a Halloween Ball at Hogwarts had come to the Palace at the start of October. Jacques had been in England for the week, but when he'd come home at the weekend it had come to the suggestion of him attending with the Clement ward. Jacques had raised his eyebrow at his Maman for a moment at the suggestion of taking Mimosa, but it had quickly receded when the current Lady Clement had looked back at him in a manner that said it was not a negotiation.

There were times, Jacques had learned, when he could bargain his way out of many things he didn't want to do -- those these came mostly at the cost of spending time with Elenore instead -- but this was one such situation that spending time with his sister would result in him ending up in the same place. Deciding to cut his losses in that respect, Jacques accepted with a small nod of his head, before launching in to an explanation to his Maman about his studies that week.

For the rest of October, it had been forgotten, until, on the 31st October, Jacques had returned to the Palace to pick Mimosa up and take her to Hogwarts.

A three piece suit in the house colours had been picked for the Clement heir, keeping to the classic nature of the house. He'd been dressed and styled by his man for over an hour before he took to the entrance hall. Mimosa was to meet him at seven here, and thus far she had a few moments before Jacques would be annoyed with her tardiness. She was a Clement ward, after all, and he would not tolerate lapses in her behaviour.

Jacques attention took to the portrait in the room, his parents now took pride of place as the Lord and Lady Clement. Not a Magical portrait, this one stood quite still, power embodied in to people who stared out from the painting at you. Jacques had always disliked the painting, for as powerful as the picture was, there was still humanity showing through in how they stood very much together. The love of the couple in control of France shone through, or... perhaps it was just how Jacques had always interpreted their relationship.

Hearing footsteps coming from the stairs, Jacques turned away from the portrait, but not to the person heading his way, pretending not to have been considering the portrait for as long as he had.

The Main Ball Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Main Ball   The Main Ball EmptyThu Sep 14, 2017 7:31 pm

At first glance, the great hall looked to be entirely transformed. The long house tables that normally dominated the large room had been discarded in favor of a vast sea of circular tables around which every shape of witch and wizard imaginable could be found. Instead of the incessant talk of upcoming exams and supposedly unfair grades, the air buzzed with talk of the most recent Quidditch matches and the return to political normality. Even the lighting felt different as the torchlight was replaced by floating wisps of blue fire that cast long shadows around the room setting the ambiance perfectly for the Halloween party.

Yet, despite the transformation, Andrei could still spot a few familiar sights from where he sat in the corner of the hall. The tall sloping arches could be seen overhead though they were surrounded by an eerie white fog; a few portraits still showed here and there with their occupants dressed in their finest garb; and the school banners still hung proudly from the rafters lest the party goers forget whose party they were attending or, more importantly, who they were to donate to. The older man contented himself in finding these inconsistencies as it proved to him that magic couldn't solve anything. Plus, it kept him from having to listen to the man next to him who thought it prudent to talk the runes professor's ear off about the trivialities of life—some people just liked to hear the sound of their own voice.

"Yes, yes, I quite agree," Andrei lied with a soft knowing smile. "Now, if you'll excuse me, Karl."

The portly man nodded, shook Andrei's hand heartily, and turned to the woman next to him without missing a beat. Letting out a breath, the runes professor got up from his seat and began to wander through the steadily growing throng of people. Every now and then he would stop to shake a few hands and talk about some nebulous concept with a passerby who he vaguely knew from somewhere that he couldn't quite recall.

Ah, the joys of Halloween...

Suffice to say he was not having a good time for, in spite of all the people around him, the one he truly cared about was nowhere to be found. His wife Marie, instead of being at his side, was on a plane bound for Russia. Andrei's in-laws had been in a car accident and though they were both in stable condition Marie insisted on going to see them. This left Andrei without a companion with which to ridicule the party around him as he and his wife so often did at such events—he felt empty like he was missing something.

Naturally, he had wanted to go with Marie and support her, but it seemed that the current headmaster wanted the teachers to be both chaperones to the students and advocates for the school. So, alas, it could not be helped and the runes professor was left to brave the monotonous crowds by himself. At one point he'd caught glimpses of his daughter, but she pretended not to see or know him, which left Andrei to make continuous rounds of the party much like a haunting specter donned in midnight black dress robes.

When Michelle received the invite of attending the Halloween Ball from the young Clement ward, the girl that she had unknowingly saved from being kidnapped; Mimosa knew nothing of this however as the man that had been following her had left the moment Michelle had been spotted with the young girl, she had been very much amused, the begging in the writing clear to the French witch.

Her correspondence with the young girl and subsequent mentorship led to Michelle forming a sort of sisterly bond with the nine-year-old; having no younger sisters herself, Michelle had been very happy at the bond that had been forming between them even if some people just thought her to be using the girl. Not that she would, Mimosa was a very kind and loving individual that using her was just out of the world.

She had heard about the ball way before she received the letter, her father having been invited but had to decline on the fact that he was leaving the country for the month to travel with his lover though her mother only knew that he was going on a business trip; the harpy had no idea that her husband was cheating on her with a man and Michelle doubted that she would find out anytime soon.

It hadn't taken her a long time to reply in affirmative and it took just as of a short time to actually decide on a costume; she had been eyeing the dress for the past few days and at least now she had a pretty good reason as to why she was going to buy it.

On the day of the Ball, Michelle had specifically flooed to Allée de Paris, the French equivalent of Diagon Alley and went to have her hair done at one of the more popular hair salons there; she even got her nails done at half the price at the same time she was having her hair done.

As soon as her hair had been done, Michelle was quick to return home and do the rest herself; in other words, getting dressed and putting her makeup, which she had decided to keep tame and fairly light. Dark and fancy wouldn't really go with the costume she was wearing so light and tame it had been.

Looking at herself in the mirror, Michelle couldn't help the smirk that lifted her lips; she looked hot and she was going to flaunt it and even if the Ball was for the students, she knew that there would be some over eighteen people there so maybe she'd also be able to score a one-night stand for the night.

Grabbing her purse from the nightstand, she made sure her apartment was locked and warded tightly, her wand in the hidden holster in her boot before she apparated straight from outside the door, only a small pop resounding in the empty hallway as she disappeared from the Hallway and appeared just outside of the castle walls.

Strolling down the pathway, Michelle feasted her eyes on the magnificent castle that was Hogwarts; having never gone to Hogwarts, Michelle had never seen the castle so her pursuing it was no surprise. At least she wasn't openly gawping like some idiots that she could see doing from the corner of her eye.

A light snort left her lips as she stepped into the castle, feeling the warmth seep into her skin as she slowly made her way towards where the actual party was; standing just outside the door, she stepped slightly to the side and looked at the countless portraits hanging on the walls.

She had been asked by Mimosa to wait in the Entrace Hall so she would do so. She wasn't going to disappoint the young lady by going in first.

The Main Ball Elegan10

When Mercy had told Mimosa and Dia about the ball, the young model had been beside herself with excitement. The girl had thought she was going to visit the school in December in lieu of a Christmas present but as proven time and time again, when Mimosa Harrington wanted something, the world conspired to get it for her. All through her stay in Venice, she had bugged Clara about the ball until the psychic had finally given in and heroically told her to go ask her Grandpa. From there, the battle was half won, Kit Harrington was not in the habit of saying no to his granddaughter.

He was however, a very busy man and was going to be off on a shoot in Peru, so the next issue to tackle was who would take Mimosa there. Clara had refused point blank and no one had twisted her arm into doing otherwise. Uncles Seb and Aiden were busy and Aunt Tessa was probably going to be with Dominique. They would had been happy to let Mimosa tag along but even at nine, the witch could feel a small surge of pride inside her that refused to let her be the spare in any company.

So after talking to her Grandmere and explaining all this as best she could, the little witch had written to her new friend Michelle, telling her about the ball and forcing the older witch to promise she would come. Michelle was her friend, and she would never say no if Mimosa asked enough. Before Michelle's reply though, a note from Grandmere had arrived, solving Mimosa's particular problem. The note said that Jacques owed Mimosa a treat for her missing his birthday ball and so he would be happy to take her to the Halloween event.

Since then, the child had been almost vibrating with excitement wherever she went. All her friends would be there, she would be going with her Jacques and she would finally get to see the castle everyone kept talking about. Charles, Mercy, Dia, Michelle, they would all be there. And she might even make new friends!

With that in mind, the child had gotten dressed in her "France" fashion. As much as she would have liked to put on a silly costume, she knew no silliness was tolerated at the palace so the child had chosen a pink dress that had met all the Versailles Palace requirements. She didn't mind really, happy enough to just be going to the ball. Besides, if she was the only one not in a fancy dress then she would be unique.

The little brunette was safely apperated to the palace by six where her grandmere awaited with a seamstress. Most people though magic was done with wands but everyone in the palace could do it without the stick. It took forty minutes for them to fit the dress on her better than a store bought dress could ever fit and another ten to curl her hair without using any products, letting the shining brown locks rest in soft waves down her back. Finally, putting on her matching pink shoes - no one would let her wear heels unfortunately - the child headed to the main hall where she was told Jacques was waiting, her grandmere a few steps behind and walking at a much more acceptable pace.

Knowing not to squeal, the girl walked to the tall boy and curtsied as was common, before reaching to hug him and bursting out into a small giggle seeing him all dressed up. "You didn't wear a fancy dress either," she pointed with a grin, turning to her grandmother. "May we leave now Grandmere? I promise to look after Jacques and keep him out of trouble."

"You do that, my darling," Grandemere replied, reverting to English for Mimosa's sake before she smiled at her son, said something in french and then wished them a good evening.

When the footsteps of the child -- Merlin she needed to concentrate more on walking gracefully -- got closer, Jacques turned to see Mimosa and his Maman. Politely, Jacques inclined his head to his Maman, before his attention turned to Mimosa who curtsied before him. Terribly, once more, but Jacques kept his amusement at her lacking nature from showing on his features.

The hug that came afterwards was one that came off much more stiffly from Jacques' point of view. He hadn't been able to knock that out of the younger witch, so instead just relented to giving her a quick, small squeeze before letting go.

"Non," Jacques replied to the young witch as she pointed out he hadn't worn fancy dress. Masquerade was perhaps as far as Jacques would go with 'fancy dress' but even then he wasn't overly happy with such things.

The younger witch's attention turned to his Maman, and Jacques waited patiently for the excited talking to die down. The Lady Clement gave her permission, before turning to him and giving him a list of things to remember -- make sure Mimosa didn't get in trouble, check on Elenore, go carefully, to enjoy himself, before, finally, that she loved him. Jacques gave his Maman a small smile -- one that an eighteen year old would always give his Maman when she told him that she loved him, before nodding his assent, with a promise to look after Mimosa.

Once the Lady of the Palace had dismissed them, Jacques turned to Mimosa and held out his hand to her. "Don't let go." He told her, firmly, before giving her a second. A few moments later, their feet touched the ground outside Hogwarts, and Jacques held out his arm to make sure Mimosa didn't fall over, before turning towards the castle.

"Welcome to Hogwarts." The Frenchman said, giving the castle a look, before heading off up to the castle, quite sure that Mimosa would keep up with him in all of her excitement for the situation.

The Main Ball Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Main Ball   The Main Ball EmptyWed Sep 20, 2017 10:35 pm

When her Jacques instructed her to not let go, the child nodded, her soft brown curls moving with the motion. Both her small hands went to circle his own big one and then she could feel the familiar, almost nauseating feeling of magicking - that was what she called it. Travelling by magic was magicking. And it was the child's least favorite form of transport. It always left her with a little ache in her body that was not exactly pain but a feeling that made her very uncomfortable nonetheless. Not that she would show it in front of Jacques.

He was big and brave and not afraid of anything, so she would be too while he was around to see it.

When they arrived, the child's jaw dropped open, distracting her from that achy feeling. She almost didn't notice Jacques steadying her as the castle came into view, all lit up and glowing like it was made of magic. England always seemed so much bigger than America and Hogwarts looked huuuuuge.

Her gaping appeared to have left her several steps behind her escort, making the little witch run to catch up and cling to his arm once again. She could see people taking pictures but she supposed that was normal. She was a model after all. Mimosa was quite convinced she was the reason for the cameras flashing all around them as she walked in with Jacques Clement, eyes wide and taking in all the pretty decorations.

"No one ever told me Hogwarts was so shiny!" she exclaimed, not expecting a reply. Jacques didn't talk much she knew, but that was okay. "Oh, we have to meet my Michelle at the entrance hall. You'd love her, she's the coolest person in the world!" Mimosa gushed as the Clement led her to this entry place Michelle had detailed in her last email. As they walked, many people passed by, some waved, others called out, many more simply took pictures. There were banners everywhere with different kinds of animals on them. Mimosa found the one of the green and silver snake the most beautiful, making up her mind to find a dress combination in that color.

the child almost didn't recognize Michelle in her costume, but when seh did, her eyes stared up in wonder.Michelle was even more beautiful than the last time she'd seen the French witch, but more than that, she looked strong. Not scary at all, but strong enough that nothing scary would ever dare to bother her. Letting out a squeal, the little witch pointed to her friend and let go of Jacques arms, running the last few steps to Michelle before stopping abruptly as she'd learned over the past year.

Once she was sure she wouldn't hurt herself, the young brunette threw her arms around Michelle. "Hiiiii, I'm so glad you came. Here, Met my-" the child stopped midway, she had been taught how to introduce people from the palace a bit differently.

"I mean, Michelle, may I present Jacques Clement," she corrected herself, her expression schooled into a semi presentable expression of politeness. Her eyes still shone magnificently though, flying around the room at all the new wonders all around.

She couldn't wait to start exploring the castle! But she needed her partner in crime first.

Where was Mercy?

Michelle heard Mimosa before she had even seen the girl approach her at a run, only stopping when she was barely a meter away from colliding with her. An amused smirk was on Michelle's lips as she stared down at the bouncy brunette who did not act like a ward of the Clements but more like a child her age.

"Hello, little nymph." Michelle laughed as she wrapped her arms around the small girl in a hug, patting her back and making sure that she didn't ruffle her hair, she doubted Mimosa would've been happy about that not to mention she was quite sure the girl would pout and whine if she did that.

At the introduction, Michelle's back straightened and her chin rose slightly as she came face to face with the Clement heir, her blue eyes slowly taking in the man who was the future of the Clement family. As a Roux, Michelle had spent many hours memorizing all the different families that resided in France and even more that were all over the world. The Clement's were one of the families that she had been forced to focus mainly on because they were something like Royalty within the French Magical world.

"It's a pleasure making your acquaintance Heir Clement... Or is it Lord?" She curtsied even though her costume clearly wasn't made for curtsying. "I'm Michelle Roux."

PostSubject: Re: The Main Ball   The Main Ball EmptyThu Sep 21, 2017 7:08 pm

The announcement of the Ball had been something that had registered with Max a few days later than the rest of the castle. Being in tune with the school happenings wasn't something the Prefect was very good at. But, upon hearing of the event, he'd asked Primrose if they would be going. Her reply had been obvious, which meant the only thing left was an outfit.

With Primrose deciding that she was going as Tinkerbell, Max had opted to go to the Ball as Pan, as it seemed fitting. Couples costumes were perhaps a little cliche, but Peter Pan's affinity with nature was one that Max could work with. Though -- and Max hadn't told Primrose this -- if he was going to do Pan, he was going to do Pan properly.

Buckle and himself had made the outfit from scratch, and Max looked beyond words as he descended happily from the Gryffindor tour, not noticing how many and more girls were looking at him as he hurried bare foot down to the Ball in search of his girlfriend. It didn't take long to spot the witch, and a grin broke out on his lips at how beautiful she looked in her Tinkerbell outfit.

Moving to stand before her, Max reached to his belt, and pulled out a wild flower he'd found in the forest. "It's not lilac... but it's the closest I could get." Max explained, before motioning that the witch should put it in her hair. It was a wild flower, not the prettiest, Max knew that, but he'd tried. "And, you look great, by the way! You're a super Tinkerbell!" He added, cheeks reddening slightly because he was not very good at cutting off the thoughts from his head to his reactions to Primrose.

"Shall we?" The boy added, motioning to the Main Hall, likely Prim wouldn't want to waste any time with idle chatter.
