After her discussion with Josh about visiting the US, they had both decided that the final weekend of summer would be the best time to do so. It would give Ethan uninterrupted exposure to the brunette and he was still too young to understand what leaving a few days earlier than expected entailed. For a moment, Azalea had considered asking if she could bring Ethan with her, but had discarded the idea almost as immediately. Far from the realization that he wasn't her child to bring around the world, it just seemed impossible to imagine the toddler outside of this large estate.

Still, that had made her birthday celebration extra special, it being the last occasion they would celebrate together before she left for Hogwarts. After a thorough celebration at home, Josh had taken her to the opera. The witch had thoroughly enjoyed herself, noting the dances and story telling on stage with muted joy. Josh, as always, seemed unaffected but when she had asked him afterwords, he had assured her that he too had enjoyed himself.

The witch had managed to send off a birthday greeting to Mimosa (via Jacques' phone) just before the couple had retired for the night. Her finger had hovered over Jake's text box. It was his birthday too after all. But the quiet from his side only supplemented by cute pictures from Clara of the kids sent a clear message.

It was best to forget that small indiscretion and move on. The world seem to be doing it too.

The lack of a text from one Newbury sibling was in stark opposition to the barrage of texts from Victoria wishing the newly appointed Potions Mistress a very happy birthday. The lawyer had even managed to get Jackson on a voice recording as she sang happy birthday to Azalea. At the news that the older brunette would be in Milwaukee at the end of August, Victoria's squeals had been delightful and the two were already making plans.

As her last day at Murray manner arrived, Azalea found herself gazing out of the balcony of their large bedroom. Ethan had been hugged and kissed goodbye the night before, there was no point waking him up so early. That hadn't stopped Josh though, who now stood casually dressed by the door, holding it open for her.

"Are you sure all my belongings will be sent to Hogwarts safely?"

"It has been seen to."

"And Ethan will be alright knowing I won't be here for the next ten days."

"We have explained that to him."

"And D-"

Josh's gaze lifted her way, making her stop mid-word. Quietly, he moved from the door to come and stand beside her. "What's worrying you A-Azalea?"

"I just-" the witch looked away, sure that if he stared into her brown eyes too long, he would know what she had done. "I guess I'm just feeling a little homesick, even if I haven't really left home yet." It was true, she was hesitant at going out. Outside was full of distractions, mistakes and questions that challenged everything. In here was safe. In here with Josh, everything was right.

"You know you don't have to go," he replied seriously, placing a finger under her chin and lifting her face up to his. "Just say the word... and I'll take care of everything."

"And what about my friends?"

"They can be easily flown in," the blond replied, leaning so close, she could feel his lips move when he spoke.

"And how would that look Mr. Murray?" she asked, unable to keep her own lips from blossoming into a smile. "A spoiled litt-"

"A Murray," Josh completed in a whisper before sealing her lips with his own.

Just as the deafening sounds of a helicopter reverberated through the skies above the estate.

Jacques Clement had arrived.

True to his word, Jacques Clement had returned from China and set the wheels in motion for the trip to America for Azalea and himself. The staff were set to the task of booking them a room each at a hotel in Milwaukee ("Monsieur Clement, Milwaukee does not offer a five star accommodation, should we look further afield?" ... "No, no, book the best there is available," Jacques had replied, almost perplexed there was not a single five star hotel in the city). Allowing the airplane through the border had been little and less of an issue for the staff to arrange, the American border control never being quite so stringent as they believed themselves to be when a nice sum of money was being transferred in to their account.

The hardest part of the trip had been the explanation to his parents, or, more specifically, his Maman. Jacques had long since understood why his Maman despised America so much, and to denote that he would be going to the country with the cause of her pain was not something Jacques liked to inflict on the Lady Clement, either. But, his explanation of how he was going to go to see Elenore, to check up on his sister, and perhaps gently sway her to coming home for the Christmas holidays had softened the news, even if only slightly.

Mimosa hadn't understood, though. Why would he not be there for the last few days of the summer? Who was going to take her to Platform Nine and Three Quarters if he was in America? Why could she not join him? Why was he going with Professor Harrington? The questions had been carefully answered as they arose, before the man distracted the young witch with something else. The wardrobe collection had kept Mimosa's mind off of the fact he was leaving for a long time, the fashion show of outfits from various European designers taking precedence instead as Mimosa hurried to try each one of them on for him.

But when the final details had come in, and the staff explained the itinerary for the trip, Jacques couldn't help but frown at the hotel that had been picked. The garishly old fashioned hotel did not sit right with the Clement heir as he thought of his travelling companion, and insisted it be changed to something less... dated. The staff member had looked perplexedly back at Jacques as they stood in the hall of Versailles Palace, clearly trying to decipher what the line of 'old fashioned' would be okay.

It wasn't for Jacques' benefit, though..

The morning of the trip had dawned bright and the weather was good, Mimosa had rose to see him off, still struggling to shift her own sleepiness as he hugged her tightly with the reassurances that he loved her very much, and he would see her soon. The witch had looked put out as he pulled back, but Jacques had one more surprise up his sleeve before he left.

"I have a surprise for you," the Frenchman had announced with a smile upon his lips. "I've managed to get someone very special to take you to Platform Nine and Three Quarters." Mimosa's eyes lit up at the prospect, and Jacques' smile widened considerably. "Grandmere and Grandpere promised they would take you in my stead!"

The excitement was palpable from the witch as she threw herself back in to him with an excited thank you, thank you, thank you from the young witch. The security detail had been quite something, but Jacques had taken personal charge over that one to make sure that it would be fine for them to do so. Even though he knew it wasn't quite the same, he'd done the best he could.

"And, there is a gift for you, hidden in the gardens, if you can find it." Jacques had finished, not explaining exactly where it might be despite Mimosa's pleas for help. She would find the brand new phone in the centre of the Dahliaentelle, with the note insisting she keep it hidden from Grandmere and Grandpere until her return to Hogwarts.

The flight across the Channel had been quick, barely denting in to the timings of the day. As the plane crossed in to Wales, the Clement staff had carefully transfigured the plan in to a helicopter in order for them to be able to land safely in the Murray grounds. Jacques had opened the doors before the helicopter had touched the ground, and when the landing bars touched, the Frenchman had jumped effortlessly down to the ground.

Taking in the manor before him with only mild curiosity, Jacques headed up the front steps to the already waiting staff. Pulling off his sunglasses as he came inside the entrance hall, the staff assured him that (Lady) Azalea was on her way. Thanking them, Jacques stood waiting, taking in the overly imposing portraits of the deceased Murrays to pass the time. The man only drew his eyes away when he heard footsteps, and upon looking up the stairs, he found Azalea and Josh heading towards him.

"Good morning, Azalea, Josh!" The Frenchman greeted cheerfully, receiving almost the same reply from Azalea and the ever distant response from the Lord Murray. He wasn't overly surprised, though, he would probably not have been so happy in the man's shoes if his girlfriend was flying across the world with another man.

"We're ready to head off as soon as you are," Jacques explained, gesturing back to the helicopter outside that was waiting for them.

"I'll take your bags, m'lady."

"No need," Jacques insisted, taking the suitcase from the butler's hands.

Josh might have been scowling at him in that moment, but Jacques didn't pay much mind as the blond drew Azalea close and pressed a light kiss upon her lips. Whatever was spoken between the two of them, Jacques did not catch, instead turning back to the door and stepping outside again. Pushing his suitcase back in to place, the man waited for Azalea to emerge from the manor before escorting her carefully to the chopper.

"... you'll see when we get up to height that it'll shift back to the plane layout instead of the chopper." Jacques explained over the noise of the blades, helping Azalea up in to the vehicle and following in behind her. For a moment or two the man helped her in to the harness, and then offered her one of the headsets so that they could communicate with one another properly. Then, taking the seat opposite, the man fastened himself out before bringing his own headset in to place. "Ready?" He asked the witch, with the affirmative given, the two looked back to see Josh stood watching, unlike many he didn't wave his goodbyes, just a curt nod in return before the doors closed and the vehicle pulled up from the ground.

"Our flight is going to be about eight hours," Jacques explained. "Four and a half hours faster than anything commercial, I'm told." He added with a grin that showed just how much he liked this news. Any vehicle breaking records was an interest to the Clement heir, and his personal jet was no different. "We've got breakfast in about an hour or so." He added, because his own stomach had just reminded him that he needed something.

"Then, our stay is booked at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel in Milwaukee for the next three nights. It's supposedly in the art sector of the city, though what Americans know of a...rt..." The man caught himself before giving an apologetic look across at the witch because he'd just completely forgotten that Azalea was American. "I hope you'll like it." He corrected himself, letting out a soft laugh when he saw the amusement on Azalea's features in turn.

"So how was your summer..." The man would ask, readily listening to all Azalea had to share, and then ready to give her as much detail of Mimosa's exploits in China in return, because the witch deserved that much.

Insisted of pulling away at the sound of the helicopter blades, Josh pulled her in tighter, more possessively, laying a deep kiss on her lips that seriously left Azalea questioning why this trip was necessary. The witch only sidereal what had happened when she felt the smirk on his mouth and realized she was now using him as support for standing.

Trying to pout, the brunette righted herself. "You're terrible." Josh did not contradict here as he took her arm, leading Azalea through the door and down the winding staircase where some of the senior staff already waited with the Slytherin Head's sole bag ready. They made it down just in time for the French heir to walk in through the heavy wooden doors of the manner.

"Good morning, Azalea, Josh!"

"Good morning, it's so lovely to see you again," Azalea greeted warmly, leaving Josh's side for a minute to hug the Frenchman who was her ride for the weekend. Josh's greeting was returned with a much more subdued handshake. A few moments of polite conversation followed with Josh extending a hope that the Lord and Lady Clement were well and Jacques returning an equal "Please give my warmest regards to Lady Eleanor" before they were ready to head out, the French brunette taking the lead as well as her lone bag and giving her and Josh a privater moment to way goodbye.

A normal peck, the insistence to look after herself and the assurance that she could call him anytime, with anything, later, Azalea was following the young wizard out, still a lite unsure if she was doing the right thing.

Unsure what to expect, Azalea was taken aback by how high up the machine was. The ladder retracting down from the vehicle, she realized, was solely for her benefit and even then not something manageable in heels. Luckily enough, she was helped up as Jacques explained how the machine as only a temporary helicopter and would morph back into a plane once they were in open skies. the witch listened in awe as Jacques explained how their journey would be shortened and waved at Josh as they took off, knowing he wouldn't imitate such a childish gesture but smiling as she did so all the same. Headsets in place, she found herself laughing as they rose into the air, the unsure feeling disappearing as the distance between them and Murray Manor grew.

"We've got breakfast in about an hour or so."

"Oh thank Granny Weatherwax," the witch spoke into her headset. "I'm starving!". Not having eaten anything before her departure, the witch nonetheless shook her head in apology. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound so.... hungry. I'm afraid I'm not allowed to say such things at the manor for fear of the servants judging me so you get to deal with the backlash," she added amused, finding it easier to talk to him than she had to another human being since...

Since nothing.

"Our stay is booked at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel in Milwaukee for the next three nights. It's supposedly in the art sector of the city, though what Americans know of a...rt..."

"Hey, my dad's an artist," she interjected, reaching out to poke him slightly in the elbow. "Actually, I didn't even tell him I was coming over, last I spoke to Clara, she said he was in New York... Maybe I'll give him a call and see if he wants to meet up?"

"So how was your summer..."

"Pretty good," she reported as they flew higher still, all the landmarks of Wales long since becoming tiny pinpricks. "Nothing much other than what you already know. Oh there is one thing."

Just as she spoke, Jacques motioned to the dashboard with blared a signal for preparation. Over the next few seconds, her headphone warned hrt that they were ready to transition.

It was one of the most smooth transfigurations Azalea had ever witnessed, without the engines Missing a beat, the blades retraced in and the fan broadened out, flattening and enlarging to form wings. The main cabin where Jacques and Azalea were seated remained the same but the body of the vessel around them grow larger, longer, more aerodynamic. All in all, it took three minutes tops and as last, when the windows around them finally morphed onto those more suitable on a private jet, the transformation was over leaving the witch breathless.

"Can't believe I'm saying this about a machine, but that was beautiful," she breathed, her eyes dancing with amazement at what they had just done. The speed indicators noted that they were flying faster now then they had been a few minutes ago but the brunette felt no difference, the mark of a smooth vehicle.

"Where did you learn to fly? It's such a remarkable talent."

Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques)    Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques) EmptySat Aug 22, 2020 2:24 pm

The relaxed nature that came from Azalea as they took off and she denoted her own hunger made the Frenchman smile as he navigated them back up to height above the Welsh countryside. The apology that followed only made him laugh in response. "No need to apologise, we're not in the company of the Murray staff now, I'm starving too!" He confided, making sure to keep the witch from feeling self-conscious about her appetite. Kiranjeet had taught him well in that regard, at least.

The jab to his elbow was met with another soft laugh from the Frenchman. "Sorry, sorry," he replied to that much, he hadn't meant to offend the witch, nor her family, but the art celebrated by Americans... he'd yet to see anything that would compare to the arts of Europe yet, or even Asia that he was growing more acquainted to, thanks to Mimosa's travels across that continent.

"Sure! Perhaps you can invite him to dinner with Elenore and us on Sunday evening. It would be great to see him." Jacques agreed to the call as he took note of the altitude they were currently flying at, making mental notes of when to make the changes to the vehicle they were flying. Everything at the right time.

The man's eyes scanned the sky carefully as he asked of Azalea's summer, checking for Muggle aeroplanes in the vicinity as they passed through a couple of small cloud forms. The radar was reading clear of any other aircraft, and his eyes confirmed the same.

"Oh there is one thing."

"One moment..." Jacques replied, his finger pressing up on a button overhead. For a moment, it would appear that the man hadn't done anything at all, but as his other hand brought the cyclic control in to the neutral position, flattening the helicopter's trajectory course. Perhaps then it would start to become clear what was happening as the shape of the helicopter started to contort. The blades moved in to the vehicle as the side panels moved out to create the wings. A nose fashioned from the cockpit before them, and the windows around them shrunk in to that of a jet. The control panel before them began to change, too, growing in to a set much more complex than the last, the cyclic control turning instead in to the more recognisable features of the control wheel of a plane.

Jacques' hands moved to set the plane controls up as Azalea's eyes took in the transformation until finally the man flicked the switch to enable auto-pilot from that point on. With one final check, the man looked across at the witch beside him, Azalea's eyes had grown just a tiny bit, and the admission that the machine was beautiful was one that Jacques could not deny.

"She most certainly is." He confirmed, removing his headset and motioning for Azalea to do the same. "I learned the summer of my fourteenth birthday. Maman and Papa arranged for lessons with the French Air Force. Technically, I wasn't supposed to gain my licence, but..." The man trailed off, not wanting to overly explain how it had been possible for him to be able to obtain such things then. "I'll show you, when we're close to Milwaukee."

"Come on, lets go find the food!" Jacques insisted, getting up from his seat and offering the witch his hand to aid her from her own. Once they'd departed from the cockpit -- with two members of staff quickly taking their place to keep and eye on all the systems -- Jacques showed Azalea through to the main area of the private jet. Seats beside the windows had already been readied for breakfast.

"There's beds down the far end," Jacques pointed out. "That we can use if you feel tired, and a small bathroom if you need to freshen up at any stage of our flight. There's also movies that we can watch over there, too." The man finalised motioning to the sofa. Their attention was the food, though, and as the two of them took their places at the table, the food trolley arrived with an array of cooked foods, pastries, cereals, fruits, yogurts, everything that could be imagined. Waiting for Azalea to choose her own, Jacques followed up with his own helping of both the cooked breakfast, and a couple of croissants for good measure.

"So, you were saying, there is one thing that happened this summer that you hadn't told me about." Jacques prompted, pouring them each a drink after Azalea had indicated her preference.

PostSubject: Re: Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques)    Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques) EmptySat Aug 22, 2020 3:16 pm

"I learned the summer of my fourteenth birthday."

Azalea listened in awe as her flight companion recounted his aviation lessons. If witch had not known before that Jacques Clement inhabited a completely different world from her, she most certainly did now as the young man waved of his achievement. Staff the brunette hadn't known were on board took their place in the cockpit as Azalea and Jacques ventured to the main area for breakfast.

The tour of the cabin took only a minute, Jacques pointing to all the important sections before ushering her to sit at the breakfast ready window seats. Breakfast was a welcome site and the witch found herself reaching for a freshly baked muffin as her companion poured her just brewed coffee from a still steaming pot.

"So, you were saying, there is one thing that happened this summer that you hadn't told me about."

"Oh,' the witch remembered, putting down her muffin and chewing the small portion in her mouth before she spoke. "Professor Kessler signed of on the paperwork just last week, he's been in hospital again, but as of this term, I'm officially the new Potions Mistress at Hogwarts." Azalea allowed herself a small grin at that. The decision was probably more economical than based on talent. It would be much harder to get someone new and train them when Azalea knew the ropes very well, having done the job two years now. Still, the brunette was very proud, as had Josh been when she had told him and Ethan.

"And of course, as it Hogwarts tradition, the post comes with being Head of Slytherin House. So Mimosa is going to be officially under my care now." This part made ehr happier than a permanent position, a legitimate cause to worry and look out for her daughter.

The congratulations that followed only served to lighten her spirits and another cupcake followed the first, a vanilla one this time. Whoever had baked these was owed a debt of gratitude as the witch daintily bit into her second, ignoring "proper" food in favor of pastries, comforted by the fact that Jacques too was eating unreservedly in front of her.

"How has your sister been?" she presently asked, holding her coffee cup birth with hands, wrapping her fingers around the china for warmth. "Has she said anymore about the gentleman she was seeing, or is mum still the word?" they were well into their first our of flight by now and comfortable enough to catch up in a less than formal manner. Azalea already had her legs up and tucked beneath ehr on the sea and Jacques was reclining comfortably where he sat.

The witch took a sip of her coffee, waiting for a response and aware that it was a touchy subject. She hoped to help though.

Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques)    Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques) EmptySat Aug 22, 2020 3:39 pm

The news was bigger than Jacques had been expecting to hear from the witch before him, in truth. The surprise on his features would have shown for a moment -- but good, friendly surprise -- that quickly turned in to congratulations. "That is amazing news! You deserve it so much, you've done so much in the last couple of years to ensure the kids get their lessons! Mimosa loves your lessons, too, so this just proves your the best person for the job!

"And, Head of Slytherin!" The man nodded his approval at that much. "Congratulations, truly! And all the best for keeping all of them in line!" The last was said with a knowing smile on Jacques behalf. The Slytherins were known for being somewhat tricky to keep a tally of, and he doubted the current students were any different than his fellow students had been when he was at school.

The man also made a mental note to ensure that Azalea arrived to Hogwarts to something of a gift, too, not wanting his friend's achievement to go without some kind of gift.

Eating through his plate of food, Jacques sat back in his chair a little as he sipped at the glass of fresh orange juice he'd poured himself, almost relaxing in to the situation before the mention of Elenore came about. The grimace as he put his glass back down might have been noticeable to the witch, no matter how briefly it had shown upon his features.

"Well..." Jacques started, realising that now might be the best time to explain to the witch before him the situation they were going to find themselves in when they reached New York. Leading Azalea in blind would be both unfair to the witch, and perhaps unfruitful to their efforts in talking with the younger Clement. "Elenore hasn't spoken to anyone at the Palace except for our Grandmere since she left for America two years ago."

The admission was soft, because the man knew from experience that it was perhaps difficult for people to understand the situation. Azalea was also not a stupid woman, so she would know in an instant that the knowledge Jacques had of his younger sister's current interest in a certain male was not something he'd learned of first hand.

It would also mean admitting to a little more than he already had with Azalea.

"I don't wish to get in to a heavy situation here, and I appreciate that you might not agree with my actions, but please hear me out." Jacques continued, very cautiously now. "Grandmere does not share news with the rest of us of Elenore's letters, so we don't receive anything..." The man's jaw set for a moment, before he continued on. "I've asked our staff to keep tabs on Elenore, for her own safety, which is how I know about the man she's been spending time with. Before... I didn't read anything the staff reported on until this young man, Kevin, became increasingly more prominent in the reports, and I was advised... to read.

"I know, I really do, that this is an invasion of her privacy. I know it's wrong, but I want her to be safe. Kevin... he doesn't appear to be harmful to her. Or... he didn't. But, recently, my sister's behaviour has become less... Clement." Jacques summarised, before looking to Azalea once more to see if she understood, or whether she would take a similar stance to Kiranjeet.

"I don't wish to interfere with her life, and I won't... as long as she understands that she is still a Clement." Jacques added, trying to make his decisions seem less invasive, if that were somehow possible. "And, I also want to invite her home, for Christmas. Maman and Papa are hurting terribly with her absence, and I really do wish that she would understand. We're not asking her to return permanently, just for Christmas."

But even that, Jacques knew, would be too much to ask.

"More coffee?" The man would try to ease everything up, noting Azalea's almost empty cup.

PostSubject: Re: Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques)    Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques) EmptySat Aug 22, 2020 4:04 pm

While Azalea had certainly no expected the topic of the unknown gentleman to be discussed with happiness, she had also not expected the story Jacques now delved into, his drink forgotten and his brow furrowed as if confessing something painful. The witch let him speak, sipping ehr coffee at nerveless and letting him talk. It sounded like he needed to. It also sounded like he had been judged before for his actions in keeping his sister safe. This in particular did not sit well with her.

For the life of her, Azalea couldn't understand why his sister would stay away from her family. While she only knew Jacques more personally of all the Clements, she had met his parents once and they had been perfectly lovely people. It was clear how much they adored Mimosa so the witch was hard pressed to believe they would restrict such affection from their own daughter.

But young people had their own mind too. And Elenore Clement's had clearly turned away from France and her home.

Extending her cup towards him, she watched the Frenchman pour steaming amber liquid into it, peaking only when he was back to his reclined position on his seat.

"Speaking as someone who's only means of keeping up with her own daughter relies on the genomics of others, I can understand why you would want her to be safe," she finally spoke, affirming quietly that she would not judge him for his views and actions. "If ever Mimosa was in such a situation, I would do anything within my power to keep tabs on her and keep her safe." As would he. It had taken her some time to concede it but Jacques cared for ehr daughter at least as much as she did, putting her at ease that Mimosa's life was at least in trustworthy hands. His confession merely proved the length he would go to keep those he cared for safe, and it made her feel closer to the Clement heir.

"I can't imagine the pain your parents must feel, but surely if there are misunderstandings within the family, they can be discussed. You guys are the Clements, there isn't anything you can't do." Their current trip was a testament to that. If they could fly to a forbidden continent despite all the laws and security resumes, surely they could all sit down and talk?

"Does Elenore know we're coming? has she agreed to meet us... I mean you?" Because if she had, then surely that was a good sign. Perhaps the Clements would be reunited this Christmas after all. "And if not, how are we to lure ehr out?" The question was asked in complete earnest. Jacques would be left in no doubt that they were now in this together. He was flying ehr all the way to Victoria after all, it was the least she could do in return.

"I don't know much about young people, other than having been one once but they tend to react badly to their independence being threatened. Perhaps this boy is just her way of... acting out? Nothing long term to be overly concerned about?"

As they spoke, the shades on the window were automatically lowered, denoting they were in high morning now with the sun shining full stream upon them. Azalea had changed positions once again, taking off her shoes and bringing her knees up to herself, hugging them loosely with her face turned towards the Frenchman, trying to help him through this situation. They hadn't felt a single nudge or sway of the plain yet, confirming that the crew in the cockpit knew how to do their job.

"You're a good brother,' she finally added, a soft smile on her face." Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise."

Have I Known You 20 Seconds or 20 Years (Jacques) Empty

This conversation... had gone much better than the one he'd had previously with Kiranjeet. Jacques had waited, almost expected, the incredulous look to appear on Azalea's feature as he explained what he'd been doing for the last two years with his sister. He'd expected her to tell him his actions had been wrong, and that he shouldn't be spying on his sister.

But Azalea didn't.

Instead, she positively agreed with everything he'd said, suggesting that his actions were okay, and would have been replicated by the witch before him were she in the same position. It was almost as if he'd needed to hear those words as his shoulders became less tense in the moment. Jacques hadn't realised, until that moment, just how much he'd needed the reassurance that he was doing the right thing, and almost guiltily he lapped it up.

"Does Elenore know we're coming? has she agreed to meet us... I mean you?"

"She will, by the time we land." Jacques replied to that question. Whilst he didn't want to give Elenore enough time to run away from the meeting he'd set up in New York, he didn't wish to catch her off guard, either. "The staff will pass her the invitation at breakfast this morning." And hopefully she won't bulk. He finalised in his own head. It would give the witch two days to sort herself out, to ready herself, and from there... from there it was difficult to know what would happen, but it would be a step in the right direction.

The idea of the boy only being short term was one Jacques could get behind, and yet one that worried him a lot. Kevin was not someone his sister could be associated with in that way. He wasn't good enough for Elenore, and yet, there was something in the reports that made Jacques wary of writing it off as nothing. "I can only hope you're right, there." He admitted softly as the older witch adjusted her seating position once more, showing once again how far removed she was from the Lord Murray's perfect partner, something he would never say aloud. Azalea was not meant for their circles, but she was a good friend.

"You're a good brother,' she finally added, a soft smile on her face." Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise."

And it was comments like that that made him believe it more.

"And you're one of the best mothers I know, truly." The Frenchman conceded, sipping from his glass to cement his statement.

There might have been a moment where they would lull in to a moment of understanding, allowing all the new information to be digested. It wouldn't be uncomfortable, though, just two friends taking a moment to themselves.

It would then be Jacques' turn to ask the questions of Azalea's friend in Milwaukee, trying to find out what he could of Victoria and Jackson ahead of their arrival. Whilst Jacques had no problem in making friends, it wouldn't hurt to know something about their hosts for the next couple of days before they arrived.
