The older years was something Jake always disliked at the end of the year. For many, it would be good bye, and though Jake tried not to, he always felt more than a little saddened to see his students leave. Of course, his door was always open if anyone needed him, but they would be out in the big bad world, and Jake simply wished they could stay young forever.

However, Jake had not found a way of doing that, so he got on with his job, setting up the classroom (with no seats or desks in view) for the practical lesson he had planned for that day.

On the board, two words were shown:

Reductor Curse

Many of the students would probably know what this was, and the dummies that were set out as targets would be the aim of the lesson. All Jake had to do now was wait for all the students to arrive.

Adeline was walking towards the DADA classroom and same time was thinking what she will to do this summer with her days. She would have to come next year back to school again.  So she decided to make her last summer before she graduates some how memorial but she wasn't sure how yet.

She soon walked into the classroom and she realized she was first one there. She sighed. "Hello" she said to the professor. She noticed the words on board and thought what it was about. She knew that somewhere deep in her mind is answer since these two words seemed familiar. So she tried to remember it

She leaned against the fall and began to wait everyone else to show up. She didn't really have anything else to do. Well her mind also tried to figure out what the words on board meant, she hoped someone would explain it since she didn't seem to remember it.

Lux made her way to DADA, a bounce in her step and a smirk on her face. She'd managed to terrify the life out of a first year student, made a third year Hufflepuff pee in his pants and another one cry her eyeballs out. It wasn't just that. She'd tricked a girl into going into the boys' bathroom - and probably scarred her for life as a result - and a boy into eating a sandwich she'd fished out of the dustbin. Needless to say, the girl came out of the toilet as red as blood and the boy turned as green as a healthy leaf, thriving in spring. Overall, it was looking to be a very cheerful and successful day.

She entered the classroom, not bothering to greet the professor and other student. What she saw on the board made her smirk widen. Oh, this day was turning out to be perfect. The reductor curse a spell she was familiar with, having used it a few times to intimidate the other students and for the sheer pleasure blasting things to dust. Oh yes, she would enjoy this class very much.

The final Defence Against the Dark Arts class was here, and Finley made his way down to the Third Floor with his head still caught up in the book he'd just read. Imagining himself in Narnia with the snow was enough to bring a smile to the boy's lips, but, as he bumped in to a suit of armour which indignantly told him to watch where he was going, Finley focused back on the day before him.

Defence Against the Dark Arts was one of the subjects Finley struggled with because of it's practical nature. That wasn't to say he couldn't do it, Finley could, but it wasn't as easy for him as it was for others.

Slipping through the door, Finley gave the Professor a small smile, moving to the side of the room away from the other two people in the room. Though, more specifically, Finley kept his distance from Lux, because the witch scared him a great deal, and he definitely wanted to keep out of her way. Looking to the board, Finley took in the lesson. He knew the spell, but it wasn't one he had found much use for, so today was definitely going to be a challenge.

If Jake had thought the younger year's turn out had been small, it was nothing in comparison to the older years. However troubling that might have been for him, personally, as a professor, Jake pushed it away. The kids were the most important, and his ego, confidence and mental state could be dealt with in another time, away from them.

"Good morning, everyone." Jake greeted the group, pushing a smile on to his lips to show that he was ready to begin. "Welcome to your final lesson of the year, hopefully you will find it both interesting and useful, not to mention a little fun in and amongst the stress of the end of year exams.

"You should all have seen, or at least have heard, of the spell on the board, so, which one of you would like to give the rest of us a quick recap on the spell, and what it is usually used for?" Jake prompted, looking between the three faces to see which of the students was going to answer his question.

Lux turned her attention to the professor when he began speaking. Fun was an understatement. Using the spell would be downright amazing, exciting and definitely pleasurable. She loved smashing things to bits and loved knowing the power she could wield over someone or something. It made her feel invincible.

A smirk grew on her lips as the professor posed the question to the class. There really was only one thing to do. Not bothering to raise her hand or ask permission, she stepped forward, wand at the ready. Without warning, the incantation left her lips and her wand moved in the shape required. A flash of blue light cut through the room and the next moment, the dummy she'd aimed at was nothing but a pile of dust on the ground.

With a proud smile on her face and a satisfied twinkle in her eye, she turned to the professor. "I think that answers your question pretty well," she said, glancing back that what was once the dummy. "If not, I could do another demonstration." Her eyes grazed over the other students and landed on Finley. "Perhaps on our little Claw here. I think he'd look a lot better reduced as a pile of dust." She was, of course, teasing him and enjoying every minute of it.

Finley knew the Reductor Curse, he didn't particularly like it because it was rather destructive, but, Finley knew it had practical uses, if used properly. The Ravenclaw didn't come forward with his knowledge of the spell, though, because he didn't like to look the know-it-all he was in front of people.

Luckily, however, Finley didn't have to explain, because someone else did, with a practical version of it. Jumping back slightly as a dummy reduced to dust, Finley's eyes flashes towards the source. He'd have loved to have said he was surprised, but when Finley's eyes fell on Lux Bailey, he was not. How on Earth the Slytherin had made prefect, Finley would never know, but his mind blanked completely as he turned her wand to face him.

Stepping back, Finley's hands came up protectively in front of him (as if it would make a difference). His head shook gently as his eyes flicked towards the professor for help. "I d-don't t-think..." Finley stammered hard, backing up another step and tripping over someone's bag, leaving him in a pile on the floor and looking very, very stupid indeed.

OOC: With Jake being an Auror, I feel it reasonable that the following post would be IC - however, if you don't agree, please feel free to PM me to discuss. I don't believe this is GodMod, as this is realistic, but, please talk to me if you consider otherwise. :)

Jake was not surprised by the person who stepped forward, but at the sight of Lux's wand being drawn (and Jake not having asked for a practical demonstration) brought out the Auror in him. Without bringing much notice to what he was doing, Jake slipped his own wand from his belt - just in case.

The demonstration that followed was a good one - Jake would not fault the child on her ability, and at her comment, Jake gave her a small smile. "Very good, Miss-" But Jake was cut off by the next words that left the Slytherin's lips, and without really thinking much further, the word 'Expelliarmus' softly left the professor's lips. Lux's wand flew across the room to him a moment later, in to Jake's hands.

"Whilst I'll tolerate over confidence in my classroom, Miss Bailey, I will not take threats to other students lightly. Five points from Slytherin for your actions, and you'll serve a detention with me tonight." Jake told her firmly, noticing that the Ravenclaw in question had fallen on his backside. "On your feet, Mr Allen." Jake added, his tone becoming slightly more gentle in that moment because he felt sorry for the boy.

"Now, each of you practice on the dummies - dummies only, Lux." Jake told them. "I'll come around and help each of you in turn." He explained, before moving to hand the Slytherin's wand back, hoping she had, in the very least, learnt her lesson.

Lux let out a hearty chuckle as the pathetic boy landed on his backside but stopped abruptly when her wand flew out of her hands. One minute she was holding it tightly and the next, it was gone. Lux frowned but hearing the voice of the professor, she turned her gaze to him. She rolled her eyes at his words and crossed her arms over her chest.

"It wasn't a threat," she muttered under her breath. "If I was really threatening, you'd know. Urgh, people can't take a joke." The professor had spoiled her fun. It was an insult to her, actually. She wasn't stupid enough to hurt other students in the professor's presence. She would probably kidnap them and drag them to a dark alley to have some...fun with them. Not that she'd done that before, but she did have a brain and she used it.

She sneered at Finley as he got up, giving him her evil eye before turning her attention back to Jake. She took her wand - none to gently - from the professor and turned to a dummy, ready to let her anger out by reducing as many dummies as she could to ashes. It wasn't a difficult task but Lux soon found herself absorbed in it, ignoring the other students and focusing solely on making her spells as powerful and effective as possible.

She challenged herself, giving herself goals. For example, aiming the spell at the centre of the head or at the heart, not giving up until she perfected it. Feeling particularly evil, she gave herself the goal of aiming for the groin of the dummy, trying to get the movement and the distance right so that the blue light landed on the place she wanted it to land. It was fun.
