| With Christmas around the corner, Jake had opted to keep the lesson light for the older years. A lot of the curriculum for the older students seemed to delve in to the darker magic, and Jake didn't want to spoil the festive season for anyone.
Instead, he'd chosen to try the Patronus Charms. After all, what could go wrong asking his students to think happy thoughts for an hour? He hadn't brought in anything to make the students fear for their lives to produce one, in the hope it would make the lesson a little more relaxing.
No, it was just going to be a calm lesson.
The board showed the lesson for the day, and Jake sat on top of his desk, waiting for his students to enter the room. They would know the drill by now about there being no desks, and would likely accept it much more than they had seeing desks last year. Checking the clock, it showed that ten minutes remained of the lunch hour, and soon they could begin. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| Peter had eaten the biggest lunch of his life. Not really, he only had a salad but it was enough to fill him. He never ate a big lunch, it was always a massive breakfast that he had. After all, early runs tired him out and by the time he got back to the castle he was ready to devour the whole table. As he walked from the Great Hall to the defense classroom, Peter decided it was best to hurry up. Sure, he didn't care much for being on time but he actually like this class so he made an effort. With his backpack slung over one shoulder, and his Slytherin sweater on, he walked in through the doors of the class.
Of course, he was now used to the seatless environment, and he didn't mind it really. In fact, Peter liked the originality. He rarely saw professors do such an arrangement in their classroom, so it was like a breath of fresh air to walk in and stand among friends. Bella and Effie had to show up. He was partly showing up to win points as Slytherin was way behind, but he knew those Gryffindors liked points more than anything, so he stood by the door and waited for either girl to walk in. |

| Defense Against the Dark Arts was a fun class, so Bella hoped that they wouldn't learn about any sort of dark magic. It was Christmas time! Nobody wanted to learn about curses and death and gloomy stuff like that. She walked the steps to the classroom and immediately noticed Peter had arrived. "So much for trying to be a lousy student." she grinned up at him. It wasn't going to work if he was early to class. He had a reputation to keep up and somehow he had managed to arrive before anyone else.
Carefully placing her book bag on the floor, Bella stood by her Slytherin friend as they waited. She knew they were both waiting and hoping to see Effie's loud personality walking in through the doors, but they both weren't sure theybwouls see her. That girl was too much for both of them to handle, even if they did love her. She had completely missed greeting the professor, so she quijly looked from the door to where he was and flashed him a smile. |

| Her unintelligible mutterings in her native language were nothing short of confusing for the people who passed her in the corridors, she was sure. As she walked to her classroom, snowflakes in her hair - Amalia hated the snow for this very reason - she mumbled to herself about it's inconvenience, shaking her head while trying to comb it out with her fingers. If she left it, the stuff would melt, and she'd look like she'd been dragged through a bush by her ankles.
The witch took a moment to compose herself, internally remembering everything she was supposed to do when she was around people, and straightened her back, pushed her shoulders up and out, and let a smoldering smirk fall onto her lips as she carried herself through the door. Her bag dropped lightly off her arm and onto the floor, where she pushed it against the wall and went to go and stand near her professor.
Another devilishly attractive man, it seemed. How was anyone supposed to function in this place with all the pretty-boy teachers? Amalia would have to get over herself - it was absurd for her to be thinking her professors were hot.It was absurd and it wasn't right, not in the eyes of her parents. Not until you're married her mother's voice reprimanded her, and she promptly shook the thoughts from her mind. "Morning, Professor," she said, stood with her arms behind her back. "How are you today?" |

| LATE LATE LATE! How could she have been late?! Effie did something to her hair, she had no idea what, threw on her robes not really caring, and grabbed her books. She realized she had to run all the way up to the third floor to defense against the dark arts room! Curse Bella for not waking her. Then again she remebered the last time Bella woke her and didn't blame her. She panted as she reached the third floor after what seemed like hours of running! She had to get OUT of the habit of running... She hated it with a serious passion.
She reached the classroom and realized that she didn't have shoes on... Great. This was going to be interesting... Another thing for everyone to make fun of her for. As if her weight wasn't bad enough. But she walked in with pride! She noticed PETER AND Bella right away and smiled. She walked over and very calm and collectedly said, "sup bitches?" She had already forgotten shoes... She realized she might as well check to see if the rest of her body was clothed. She looked down and sighed in relief. She pointed at Bella and said, "wake me up next time would you? Oh sup professor!" How many classes did this guy teach? |

| Nora reread a chapter in her defense against the dark arts book. She had already read it during the summer when she had started studying for OWLs. Yes Nora was one of THOSE Ravenclaws. As she should be. Nora took her studies VERY seriously, and wouldn't stand for distractions. When she was finished, just in time for class, she headed to the classroom. She was surprised that two Gryffindors and a Slytherin had beat her to it. Normally, she was the first one in the room. She rolled her eyes and walked in and sat in the front row like normal.
She smiled at the board. She had heard of the spell before, and read about how to perform it, but had never once tried. She thought of her happy thought. A summer day with her mums in the backyard. The sun was warm, and she was just around five years old. She was playing on the swing set, and one of her mums was at the grill cooking hamburgers and hot dogs and the other was pushing her on the swing. It was probably one of the happiest days of her life.
Nora kept that memory safe in her head for today's lesson. She wanted to get the highest mark today just like she did in every single one of her classes. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do when she grew up, but she was sure that she would probably need defense against the dark arts for it. She rolled her eyes as the fat Gryffindor had no shoes on. How very unprofessional. And it's way past noon! The girl must of skipped half of her morning lessons! Nora was very outraged at the idea but kept to herself. She wasn't one to start trouble and loose house points. |

| Seeing her brother's class come up on her timetable made Victoria very happy. Seeing Jake was always the highlight of her week because she did miss him a lot. So, with a warmer smile that came with the knowledge of seeing her brother, Victoria stepped in to the classroom that was already filling up.
"Good morning everyone!" Victoria greeted her peers, as she almost always did when she entered a class. Never obnoxiously, just as friendly as always. "Morning Jake!" She greeted her brother, giving him a big smile as she set down her bag by the side of the room and moved to join her classmates.
Looking towards the board, Victoria noted the subject of today's lesson and wasn't quite sure how she felt about this. It would be fun, of that much she was quite sure, but she wondered how they would be learning the charm. Would there be Dementors? Only time would tell. ________________________________________________

| As the classroom filled up, Jake smiled to each of the students who entered the room. It wasn't until Amalia entered the room that he was acknowledged, but Jake tried not to mind too much. "I'm very well, thank you, Amalia." Jake replied to the witch with a smile. "I hope you are too." He added, because he couldn't be seen to be having deep conversations with the students because asking everyone would take too long.
Once he was sure most of the class was there, Jake decided to begin the lesson. "Good morning everyone." He started, smiling towards the group as a whole. "I hope we're ready for today's lesson, you do have at least one more hour with me before the holidays so do try to keep focused. Today's lesson won't be easy, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it no less!
"Today we will be looking at the Patronus Charm - who can tell me about the charm? Anything at all?" He asked, looking around the room hopefully for an answer. ________________________________________________~ Auror ~ Profile ~ DADA Professor ~ ~ In a Relationship ~ 36 ~ Father ~ 6' ~ American Accent ~

| He greeted Bella with a roll of his eyes as she spoke, and later greeted Effie with a smile when she walked in. That smile, however, grew as soon as Victoria walked in, her positive aura reaching practically everyone in the room. Or, at least it felt that way. She greeted everyone generally, so Peter just flashed her a smile. He briefly glanced at the other people in the room, realizing he was still the only boy in class. Hogwarts needed to start accepting more guys and cutting down on the girl acceptance.
Newbury - the professor - started talking, so Peter turned his glance towards him and listened. Normal stuff, small talk, typical of every professor. He went over what he knew of the Patronus Charm in his head, which was a reasonable amount of information. Looking around, he figured he could just answer it. There was no shame in trying to get Slytherin to win, was there? They were pretty far behind compared to the other houses. Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were tied at the lead, and Gryffindor was relatively close to catching up.
"The incantation, Expecto Patronum, will only work if the caster is focused on a single happy memory." Peter spoke up nonchalantly. "Oh, and basically, it conjures up a spirit guardian or something trippy like that." He added before wondering if that was too much for a simple answer. If it got him points, though, he wasn't going to take it back. He wanted Slytherin to at least get off the last place. |

| Venus ran in as soon as the professor had started talking about the patronus charm. She looked a little flustered, but happy all the same. She was hoping very silently that the Professor wouldn't count her late. Oh please don't let me be late! She thought desperately. She quietly opened her book to the patronus charm and read silently about it from her position in the back of the room.
Silently she raised her hand and asked politely after the Slyhterin boy answered his question. "Um, Sir, Will we be using a boggart for the full effect of the charm?" She didn't want to be called out on being late, it wasn't her fault she had gotten pinned in the hallway. But she was curious as well because an actual DEMENTOR in the class room was down right insane. She brushed her hair out of her face and smiled curiosity burning in her eyes. |
