Arriving in class, even just a few seconds late, was not good for Aiden. Not at all, especially since he had actually walked out of the Great Hall pretty early, which meant he should've arrived early too. But no, the bloody stairs had to freaking move and strand him on the second floor. So not cool, not cool at all. The Slytherin was normally a very calm person but on some occasions he could be down right nasty and this was one of those occasions, though thankfully it wasn't aimed at anyone but at the stairs.

He had managed to, thankfully, arrive only two minutes after the start of the lessons and he had thankfully caught the topic of the lesson.

Patronus Charm? Today would be a pretty good lesson, of that he was sure. Placing his bag on the floor, the brunette turned towards the front and listened to his classmates. Surely they wouldn't be using a boggart on their first try? That would just be irresponsible.

The first answer was one that had Jake nodding along, for a moment. He left a small pause after Peter had finished, before speaking himself. "For the most part, you're right, Peter" Jake told the boy, his tone encouraging, but making it clear that the Slytherin had made a small mistake for anyone who was taking notes. "However, there is no evidence that you must use a single happy memory. For most, yes that is true. But for some, it can be a series of memories or experiences."

With the correction done, the second question of the day came, and Jake's attention turned to the witch who had spoken.

"Um, Sir, Will we be using a boggart for the full effect of the charm?"

Shaking his head at the question, Jake spoke once more. "Today, we will simply being trying to conjure a Patronus. Corporeal or not. Adding pressure to the situation would not be helpful at this stage, but I may think about it later on if needed."

Making sure no one else had an answer, Jake decided to press on. "Now, I want you all to be aware that I am not expecting everyone to be able to produce a Patronus today. This magic is very advanced, but I thought I would give you the opportunity to try it. The wand movement is a circle, and as Peter said, the incantation is a Expecto Patronum." Jake had said this whilst taking out his wand, flourishing it in the correct manner, and summoning his own Patronus.

A labrador retreiver spouted from the tip of his wand, circling the room once before taking it's place beside his sister. He already knew Victoria couldn't perform a Patronus Charm, but he didn't care.

"When you're ready, please begin."

OOC: Please, please, please be realistic guys. The Patronus Charm is hard. I doubt very much anyone can do it first time - but if you can really write a reasonable piece that tells me how they managed the feat, I am willing to be open about this. Have fun, explore your characters memories, and please don't be afraid to write big posts!

((Ethan was here the whole time^^))

Patronus charm. He snorted when the Hufflepuff asked if they were going to use boggarts. That was simply mad for their first time was it not? Ethan pulled out his wand, and laughed slightly. This should be easy. He concentrated and thought of a happy memory. The first time he used magic. Yes that was good, wasn't it? When you think about it every kid's happy when they learn they're magical. Focusing he closed his eyes, "Expecto Patronum" Nothing.

"What? Expecto Patronum" He said once more, his wand moving in the pattern perfectly. He was confused beyond all belief. He had a happy memory, and he was saying the incantaion correctly, and his wand movement wasn't at fault. . . he frowned. Maybe it wasn't happy enough. He picked one he shared with Kyle instead.

It was when he and Kyle had gotten in trouble. He had taken the blame and Howler the next morning, but what made it happy was the joy and relief it had been when he stepped out and rescued Kyle from the oncoming disaster. "Expecto Patronum" A silvery mist spouted from his wand "Look! Look! I did something!" He shouted and as quickly as it came, it was gone. Nothing but mist for seconds, and he was proud.

Victoria had always been an optimist. Sometimes she was naively optimistic of the world, and people around her. Always looking for the best in people and things happening around her, Victoria often missed negativity.

Except today.

Victoria had studied Patronus Charms in her fifth year, and subsequently knew that she could not produce a Patronus Charm. She had tried ever since and had still produced nothing. Therefore, when Jake had suggested they try, Victoria had motioned towards her book and the corner of the room. She would sit and read quietly for the rest of the lesson if he was happy with that.

It was only a moment later before Victoria received permission and she moved to the side of the room. On her way, she noted someone manage something of a Patronus. "Well done!" She told the boy with a shy smile, really meaning the praise because the spell was so very complex.

Jake watched the students around him having a go at the task he'd given them, smiling warmly to the students who had managed anything towards the Patronus. Even to those that hadn't quite achieved much at all, he smiled warmly.

When he'd met Victoria's eyes, he'd silently excused her from trying to do the spell, because Jake knew that his sister couldn't do it. He hadn't judged her for that though, she excelled in all areas except Defence Against the Dark Arts, and he understood.

Checking the time, Jake figured he would have to call it a day, so with a short clap of his hands, Jake pulled the attention back to him. "Okay everyone, that's all we have time for today, well done to those who managed to get any sign of a Patronus, I'm very proud of you. To those who haven't quite mastered it, keep trying, it'll only come with practice!" Jake told them as encouragingly as possible. "There isn't any homework tonight, but please make sure to read up on the subject as it might be in your tests. Otherwise, have a good weekend and I'll see you next week!"
