| It is early evening at Hogwarts. Many students are readying themselves for the evenings dinner in the great hall when a mass shudder runs through the building. Nobody knows where this has come from, but all the students look up with fear written across their faces. "What was that?" Many of the students call out, looking up to the professor's table with worry. The professors look equally bemused in that moment - many turning their attention to the Headmaster with questioning eyes. Another explosion rumbles through the building, scream elicit from many of the younger student's mouths. "YOU KNOW WHAT WE'VE COME FOR, HEADMASTER!" A voice insists through the building. It's a cold voice, one nobody wishes to hear. It sends a shiver down your spine, even if you don't know what is going on. A few moments pass... Silence. Waiting. The doors of the Great Hall fly open with such force, that the hinges almost give way. People in masks begin to fill the room. Their wands are raised. You could not tell who they are. But they're intruders in the castle. And panic has begun to set in. (OOC: The admins will be playing the roles of the Death Eaters. So long as you have good reason to be in the castle, anyone and everyone is welcome to join in. If you would like to contribute to either side, please feel free (though if you wish to join the intruders, please PM me for further details. Otherwise, please have fun, and, welcome to our new site plot!) | |

| It was meant to be another ordinary night. Dinner, study, some time to chat and then off to bed, ready to repeat another ordinary day. That was until Lucy took her seat in the Great Hall, starving, having skipped lunch that day to catch up on some assignments that she had avoided doing for too long, she was ready to tuck into some chicken. That was until the hall started rumbling. She looked around in confusion, noting the other students, just as confused. And then Lucy felt herself jump at the sound of an explosion echoing through the hall.
"YOU KNOW WHAT WE'VE COME FOR, HEADMASTER!"
The voice was chilling to the bone. At this point, Lucy held her hand to her wand, looking cautiously to the back of the hall, when the doors flew open violently. Shadows- well they looked like shadows- but with these ghastly masks. Some on foot, some in the air. She drew her wand, her heart beating fast. She needed to get out- she needed to help. She needed to do so much but she couldn't get her thoughts right. So she acted on instinct, standing up and starting the defence. |

| Adeline had come here to have peaceful dinner like every other night but it was ruined by some people, who had come here suddenly. She was so confused what was going on like everyone else around seemed to be. Was this someone prank or was it real this time.
"YOU KNOW WHAT WE'VE COME FOR, HEADMASTER!"
When she heard these words she was even more confused. Also, it did make her chills go over her body. This voice wasn't really pleasant to hear. She wondered what was going on now. She hated that she had no idea. She just in case did take her wand into her right hand, so she is ready to defend herself when needed. She saw how one girl went into defensive position. Adeline did stand up and did stand next to that girl there now. She decided defend people here too. She knew what she was doing, well she at least hoped so. |

| The whole day, Violet had felt oddly excited. She'd felt butterflies in her stomach, something she had never felt before. She hid it well of course, keeping her face neutral, acting as she normally would through the day. But just knowing that- finally- her plans would be coming to fruition.
It stretched back all the way to the start of the year- while wandering through Knockturn Alley, cigarette in hand (a habit only recently picked up the very same holidays, and one that had grown quite substantially), as she had so many times before. An overheard conversation, a threat, and a bargain later, and she had managed to talk herself out of what seemed to be a serious situation. And into another that meant she had more control. She'd formulated a good portion of the plan on the spot, using her being a student as leverage. The finer details were worked out closer to the date that the others wanted.
Her plan was simple, ensuring enough naive students wandered into the wrong part part of Hogsmeade during one of their visits- and for the intruders to use polyjuice potion until, well, that night. A lot of the students used were first or second years- kidnapped of course, though Vi had never been explicitly told what would happen to them. Either way, she didn't particularly care. The younger they were, the more trusting they had been. No one ever really questioned the Hufflepuff's intentions when she had sweetly offered to show them around.
That night, she didn't rush to the dining hall. She meandered in, sitting towards the back of the hall- waiting- until everyone was in, before she took a seat near the door, at the back of the hall. Not long through dinner did the rumbling start- enough to startle the students into confusion. An explosion. Fear now.
"YOU KNOW WHAT WE'VE COME FOR, HEADMASTER!"
She couldn't help but smirk- the time was so close. The anticipation growing… Growing with the fear… Until…
The doors swung open and masked people fly through. Chaos ensued. Violet wasted no time in standing up and sprinting out of the hall. She stopped on the other side of the door, drawing her wand and quickly casting "Colloportus!"- locking them in. She knew those that she had helped in would have no trouble getting out. But the students- they'd panic. They'd scream, and cry and forget how to use their wands, for a short while at least. But with all the chaos, all the pushing and scrambling, it'd certainly be difficult.
With her job done, a rare smile touched her lips as she lit up a cigarette (certain that no one would get her in trouble for smoking at this stage), deciding to go for a walk. |

| Jacques opinion on Pureblood superiority was not one he kept overly quite. He was better than others, there was no point in him denying that. He loved the power that came with being better than people, and thus... supported those movements which propelled his kind in to a higher power. This didn't mean Jacques wanted an active role, no, but he wasn't one to want the action squashed.
His father, being an Auror, had other ideas, of course.
These ideas were playing through the Clement's head in that moment, as he walked up towards the Great Hall for dinner. News was spreading of a new group who thought they could be the ones to continue Voldemort's reign of terror. Though, of course, he doubted it would ever succeed. Evil never truly won out, did it?
Just as he reached the top of the stairs, the first rumble through the building happened, making him slip sideways in to an alcove to hide himself from the view of anyone coming past. Being a Clement meant saving your own ass, and Jacques was not untoward with self-preservation. The Slytherin caught glances of people running towards the great hall, and his fingers moved subtly to his wand, wrapping around the object that gave him almost as much power as his name.
Words echoed through the halls, followed by screams, Jacques simply remained still, his heart pounding in his chest, but his features unnaturally calm.
Jacques' eyes scoured the scene, seeing the last person enter the hall as another exited.
But the next action...
The next one brought a small smirk to the French boy's lips. Slipping his wand from his belt, Jacques moved from his place hidden in the door way, and slowly across the floor. Minimal noise was made in that moment. Until he was close enough to the intriguing witch to give him enough time to block any spell she might use to attack. "Would have been impressive, you know... Had you not been caught in the act." Jacques told her casually. There was no note of 'I'm telling' in his voice, just pure, cold facts.
And, his eyes, those deep brown eyes were shining with a hint of amusement, a hint of something that said he was not, in the slightest, against what this witch had just done. ________________________________________________

| Violet had just shoved her lighter back into her pocket and had taken a drag of her cigarette when she saw another student approaching her. He seemed oddly calm, given the situation, though she noticed that he still held his wand. A precaution, she supposed. And for good reason. She still had hers drawn.
"Would have been impressive, you know... Had you not been caught in the act."
She blew out a puff of smoke as he spoke and considered the statement for a little bit before responding "Still impressive though," she shrugged, with just a hint of a smile still present. Perhaps it was the adrenaline, or the fact that this was the first time she had ever truly felt excited for something to happen, but for the first time, she was simply unable to have her face completely neutral. It was a weirdly satisfying feeling.
She could have denied it, she could have acted defensively, but the boy himself had an air about him that seemed a tad amused by the situation. She was curious to see what he'd do (if anything) about it. "Bet you're feeling lucky that you were late," she added, taking another puff from her smoke. |

| Jacques was not easily impressed, hence the witch being caught had dampened his impression of her. Of course, had he not have caught her, there wouldn't have been anything to be impressed by. This was the difficult appreciation levels that Jacques Clement worked to, and he was not going to be swayed by the fact the witch before him thought she was impressive. Instead, the Slytherin remained silent with her response, simply taking her in as she took a drag from her cigarette.
Years of finer circles had made Jacques become accustomed to the smell of smoke, but cigarettes smelt much too cheap in comparison to cigar smoke. Nevertheless, the Slytherin was intrigued with the idea of trying. But did not take action to do so.
The witch continued by asking him if he felt lucky for being late. That, drew a small laugh from the Clement heir, before he shook his head. "If you think whomever is in there scares me, you're very sadly mistaken. Or under informed." Jacques told her confidently, verging on giving a casual shrug before stiffening his shoulders to stop it. "I'd say the lucky ones are those on the inside, who get to see the whole thing in progress." Jacques concluded, not worrying about his opinion on the more sadistic things in life.
After all, he was not the one who'd just locked hundreds of children in a room of maniacs. ________________________________________________

| His response was unexpected. But Violet didn't let it show on her face. It was refreshing to have someone that seemed to share at least some of the same ideas as her and to be so casual about it. "I'm inclined to say under informed," she replied after he had finished his statement. She was curious as to why he seemed so terribly confident. It could be an act- a 'fake it until you become it' sort of deal, perhaps he was just good at hiding his emotions. He might also have some sort of leverage feeding his confidence. With that in mind, she wasn't about to let down her guard- she was, however, interested.
"I'd feel luckier being the one doing the attacking," she stated plainly.
"Tell me though, why aren't you scared?" she asked, taking one last drag from her cigarette before finishing it. |

| The comment of being under informed was not a surprise. Very few people understood the Pureblood world anymore, and for the British kids, there was little hope they understood very much outside of the Isles. Jacques found this very amusing - how could anyone be happy with not knowing things of such importance? But, of course, standards were sliding much too easily of late, and this allowed for people to be under informed.
Jacques wasn't going to explain, though. Not without being prompted to do so.
His eyes travelled instead to the now locked doors of the great hall, where screams were emanating. Attacking people - as the witch before him had said she'd like to do - was not something Jacques had a taste for. But, he had a slightly twisted view on the kinds of things that were okay. Practicing dark arts, for one. Jacques passed no comment, however, he was not the kind of person who spoke unnecessarily. For anyone.
So, when he was prompted with a question, Jacques brought his attention back to the girl before him. Considered her for a moment, before breaking out a smile that showed her lack of knowledge was nothing short of funny. "I know who the people are. My father... is high up in the Ministry of France. Times have become turbulent. And... well, we all know they're working on building up some kind of stupid blood purity ideology once again.
"My family is too powerful to be cowering before them." Jacques explained, raising an eyebrow at her. She wasn't anyone of note... "But, I can't work out your reasoning. You're in on this... it would seem." He added, motioning to the door, before looking at her quizzically. "Why?" The question was firm. In need of answers, and Jacques would not give up on this until he had one. ________________________________________________

| Violet listened as the boy explained his reasoning as to why he wasn't at all scared. It kind of made her think that perhaps learning about some of her classmates, perhaps those from influential families in particular, could be useful. She supposed she hadn't ever considered that knowing people- knowing how to talk to them- could be handy in some situations. Before now, she hadn't really bothered. Things like social status had never seemed to be important- she'd always seen it as shallow to worry about things like that. Though, considering what she had gotten herself into, it certainly couldn't hurt to learn a bit more.
His question bought a smirk to her lips. Why? What was her reasoning? She agreed that the whole 'blood purity' ideology was stupid. There was no basis of evidence to support what they were pushing. Thinking back, Violet really didn't have to join. If she hadn't wanted to, she could have told someone, could have received help. But she had chosen not to. Perhaps it had been because she was bored, as she usually was- in need of something to focus on. That and the rush she got from carrying out the plans that she had made.
She glanced back at the door to the Great Hall- where it had gotten rather noisy, with screams and shouts. No one had calmed enough to even try a simple Alohomora yet. But that wouldn't last forever. She turned back to the boy in front of her and shrugged "Does there need to be a reason?" she asked. Judging by the look on his face, he genuinely really wanted to know. And Violet being, well, Violet, she wasn't going to explain herself so easily- especially to someone she barely knew. Deciding that she better be off before they opened the door, she started walking.
"I've got to go," she stated as she walked past, not caring to elaborate "Bye," she said. |
