| Dinner was just about to be served, Daniel was in deep conversation with the Herbology professor beside him, discussing the use of a new plant in magical medicine. It wasn't a field Daniel had deep knowledge in, truth be told, but he did like to hear from the professors of the school as much as possible. The idea - to Daniel - sounded a good one, one that he was actively encouraging the professor to progress with.
Daniel had just about been ready to ask his fellow professor as to whether he'd written up a proposition for the idea when a shudder ran through the castle. His stomach seemed to drop in that moment, a feeling of discomfort reeking through his body as he hurried to his feet, drawing his wand in the process.
The children...
"YOU KNOW WHAT WE'VE COME FOR, HEADMASTER!" If only I did... Daniel thought to himself for a moment, before his instincts kicked in. Pointing his wand to his throat, Daniel cast the Sonorous Charm. "Students, get back to your dormitories at once. Prefects, Head Boy and Girl, round up the students, and get them safe. Professors, with me." Daniel instructed, before adding. "Quietus."
The doors closed on the Great Hall the moment the masked people entered the room, and Daniel had a very, very bad feeling about this. "Stupefy!" The Headmaster called out, watching the red light hurtle from his wand towards the main masked person. They flicked it away with ease, sending a similar spell back.
The fighting had begun, and Daniel was terrified of how this was going to end. |

| When the rumble had shuddered through the castle, Naomi had looked up from her very small portion of food and across at her friends with uncertainty. "Do you think Pee-" But Naomi's question that had masked her worry with a smile, had fallen short on her lips when the voice rang through the hallway. That was not Peeves.
Hurrying to her feet, just as the doors opened, Naomi knew this was not something she wanted to be a part of. And she was already hurrying towards the back of the hall when she caught sight of one of her house mates who did not seem to want to get moving.
"Lucy!" Naomi called out, knowing the girl only by name and little else. "What are you doing, come on! Let's get outta here!" The Slytherin witch insisted, offering her hand to her fellow Slytherin. Whilst the self-preservation technique was kicking in, Naomi was not going to leave a fellow Slytherin behind. Weird as it might sound, Slytherins did still look out for one another. |

| Humphrey had just finished loading his plate up and was about to take his first bite of the evening meal when a voice rang out through the hall. Confused and scared, he watched in horror as people in masks started to fill the great hall. Standing up, he booked it over to the Gryffindor table and found Casey, grabbing her hand and pulling her along with him as he began making his way towards the back of the hall. He tried to remember if there was an exit aside from the main doors, and thought there might be one that teachers used but he wasn't sure where that was. "Casey, we need to get out of here while we still can. If we get out, I'm running with you straight to the Hufflepuff common room and you're coming with. Got it?" he asked, and received a worried nod from his little sister as she knew they were in danger right now.
Looking ahead, he noticed Naomi talking with another Slytherin girl. They hadn't seen each other at all of late, but he hoped she could help him get out of here. Walking over, he moved in close enough to be heard over the noise. "Naomi, do you know another way out of the hall besides the main doors?" Humphrey asked, biting his lip while he waited for her response. |

| Those bloody Westbrooks! Hathor still couldn't believe she was married to Marcus Westbrook. Of course, she still tried to use her last name as much as possible, not wanting to be considered a property of his, but of course, everyone now knew her as the Lady Westbrook. And thus, she was sent to Hogwarts, in Marcus' place, in order to do business. She was the only available person to do his deeds, and since she was the new 'Westbrook' of the family, Marcus had to make sure she knew that well enough. And that was why he was doing this to her. Just to enjoy the angry look on her face, every time she was called 'Hathor Westbrook. Dressed in a very business like outfit, Hathor had arrived at Hogwarts as a guest, waiting for the Headmaster to finish his class in order to meet him and come to an agreement. The Westbrooks were very rich alright, and Marcus wanted to give the school a donation, a way for their name to be... promoted. Thankfully, she didn't have to wait long. The Headmaster gladly lead her to his office and after an hour -or so- of talking, she had managed to come to an agreement with the wizard, managing a great deal for the Westbrooks. She had every chance to destroy them, if she really wanted to, but that would drag her down as well, and it was widely known that Hathor Valois never bowed down to anything or anyone. Sadly though, her torment was not over yet, since the Headmaster had insisted she stayed and had some food with them. And being polite, Hathor could not refuse them. She had a status to uphold, after all. And thus she was lead to the Great Hall, filled with students but also the staff members. Hathor had the opportunity to talk to a few, learning a couple of things about Potions, but also Astronomy. She had to admit that these two were particularly hot looking, but after the look she received from the School Nurse, Hathor kept to herself, not even daring to look towards them again. She was not welcome, she had got the hint. But as she was enjoying the food, suddenly a mass shudder run through the building. Hathor's eyes went wide, immediately looking up at the Headmaster in surprise. What in Merlin's name was that? Another explosion followed, and screams filled the Hall, causing Hathor to stumble back out of her seat and take her wand out immediately. Something was really, really wrong here. "YOU KNOW WHAT WE'VE COME FOR, HEADMASTER!"And then silence. Hathor had her wand ready, still not knowing what the hell was going on. She didn't want to panic, she didn't want to feel scared. But a part of her already knew that this was not going to end well. And then the door of the Great Hall flew open with such force, they almost broke. People in masks walked in, wands in hand, and then hell got loose. The fighting didn't take long to start, with Hathor joining in before she even had a chance to understand what she was doing. She didn't know what to actually do, but one things she knew was that she had to survive. Not for Marcus, but for herself. Once her eyes focused once again, she noticed two of the masked men coming towards her. Of course they would come for her, she was a Pureblood, and one the Westbrooks and the Valois would pay a lot for. Hathor started running, but the heels on her feet didn't help her. She tried to jinx them away but it was no use. She stumbled and fell, and before she knew it, two wands were aimed in her face. And that was the last things she remembered because after that there was darkness. And then, she was lost. |

| Caramarienne pulled her hair into a high ponytail. She was getting ready to meet Nirek in the Astronomy Tower as soon as she could. She was in relaxing clothes, they were flattering but nonetheless relaxing. Tight leggings to accentuate the yoga and dance formed body, a light sweater top that was a pretty pastel, and moccasins. All casual yet designer to prove that she was still as fancy as her Guardians. She was sure, though, that any of her old Charm school girls would throw a fit. They'd only ever seen her in the highest brands, never pants, just dresses and skirts to highlight her pleasing features. But to Nirek, it never seemed to matter what she looked like. Just thinking of him, she wasn't quite sure what to call him, so she referred to him as her beau in her head, sent a rush through her body.
She smiled at her roommate, glad they were getting along better, as she headed for the door. Once she was through the dungeons and on the moving stairway up, her mind completely engulfed with thought of Nirek did she feel the shaking. Immediately, her eyes widened as her hands shakily reached for her wand in the folds of her leggings... Only to realize she'd left her wand back in her room. There was an explosion several feet in front of her and she heard some terrified screams as she watched through the rubble, two figures appear. She gulped back panic as she immediately began racing up the stairs. She stopped once she'd hit the second floor, tired of ignoring the noises around her. She took in a deep breath and searched around. She saw a pair of them racing down the hallways, laughing maniacally, and on her right there was a weeping First Year Ravenclaw. On her left and closer to the Sick Freaks invading her school, though it was clear the First Year didn't remember it, was the entrance to the Head Boy and Girl Common Room. She sucked in a deeper breath.
Cara kicked off both of her moccasins, and ignored the surprise as her feet touched the cold ground of the castle, in one hand she held her shoes and the other she intended to lift the First Year off the ground and throw him into the Portrait. She had a solid two minutes before the Sick Freaks would be by the portrait, and it would take her thirty seconds to get to the boy. Already she was running towards the boy, grabbing him by the collar, she narrowed her eyes at the approaching figures who began calling out to her. She squelched her fear down and kicked on the frame of the portrait.
"Emergency! The castle is under attack, open up, now." She whispered to the portrait. The door swung open and she shoved the boy in, ready to say another thing, but was shocked to find her breath stolen from her as her sweater choked her. One of the Sick Freaks had grabbed the back of her sweater and jerked her back from the portrait, but not before she had to chance to slam it shut. She felt the impact of the castle wall's against her shoulders as the Sick Freak shoved her against it, her head bouncing against the wall. She let out a shriek of pain as she took a moment to focus on what was being said to her.
"Pretty lil' one, ain't ya?" The smell of bourbon wrecked Cara's senses as she winced in agony over her head and shoulders, she began squirming, lifting her legs and shouting for help before she felt the hand that wasn't pinning her by the shoulders to the wall lift to her mouth. "Shut it, lil lady, and this'll be easier on both of us." Panic filled her as she lifted her legs swiftly to slam against his solar plexus. Immediately he released her and knelt over to catch his breath. She succeeded in pushing him off her, and watched as his friend stopped harassing the portrait to take a defensive position, only for her to throw both her shoes at her face.
She began cursing in French as she raced by the Portrait, she didn't know where she was running, but she prayed she was running in the right direction. |

| Nirek had the evening planned to stay with Cara. Cara had found time to be able to get away from her pain in the ass brother-kind-of-person, which meant they could have some time alone. Truthfully, Nirek was frustrated with the fact they had to sneak around to meet up, but he also understood why the could not be brazen about their relationship, too.
It was, in a way, a blessing Nirek had failed his N.E.W.T.S. because it gave him an excuse to see Cara more. If he'd of left... well, Nirek doubted there would have been much opportunity.
The Gryffindor had slipped out of the common room when the first shudder rang through the castle. His hand had gone to his wand in an instant, and instead of going along the corridor, Nirek had gone straight down the stairs as fast as possible. Caramarienne would be making her way up one set of stairs, which level he wasn't sure, but he knew they would see each other. Thundering down the stairs two or three steps at a time, Nirek skidded to a halt as he looked up the corridor of the second floor - breathing heavy from the five floor descent. The sound of pain was familiar, but not because he'd heard it before...
Hurrying down the corridor, Nirek skidded around the corner, wand at the ready.
His blood ran cold at the sight before him.
Cara.
Frozen for a moment, Nirek could only be thankful that Caramarienne could look after herself, kicking out at the man holding her and throwing her shoes at the second man. Her feet were bringing her in his direction a moment later, and Nirek's brain fizzed back in to action. "Cara, keep running!" Nirek shouted at her, stepping sideways as he fired the strongest knock-back jinx he'd ever managed at the man who was now chasing after her. Laughing in a sickening manner that filled the corridor, Nirek just about managed not to shudder. But the man deflected Nirek's jinx, making it look like child's play.
Frustrated, Nirek sent two more in the man's direction, neither as strong as the first, but in quick succession, giving Cara time to get to him. Nirek's hand shot out to Caramarienne's as she reached him, not thinking about anything other than getting her to safety. "Come on, keep running." Nirek insisted, pulling her along the corridor away from the mad man that was coming after them. The stairs were coming closer, though, and Nirek knew they needed to think of something, fast.
"Professor Newbury might be in his classroom..." Nirek offered as he pulled Caramarienne up the stairs, it was one floor up, and the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher was the best option in this case. Everyone knew he was an Auror. They would just have to hope he hadn't left yet.
At the top of the stairs, Nirek pushed Cara along the corridor, turning to send another jinx at their pursuer before hurrying to catch up with Caramarienne. Taking her hand, and running as fast as he could. He was not a duellist. Running was their only option. |

| Lucy had been busy fighting- so much so that the thought to run hadn't seemed to even enter her mind. She found herself dodging spells and students, firing back and standing her ground. She also found, that at the back of her mind she was thinking how running with the crowd meant doom- a quick glance behind told her that the great big doors were locked- and the crowd had quickly thickened to some sort of impenetrable fortress of bodies pushing and screaming desperately to be let out. Moving in that direction would mean that she would be practically a sitting duck.
Her attention to the intruders only broke when she heard her name being called. She looked around quickly, discovering that it was a younger Slytherin- Naomi, she was certain was the girl's name- that had called out and offered her hand. And then quickly, a hufflepuff boy asking if there was another way out. She glanced around quickly, and immediately remembered-
"The trophy room," she said, almost under her breath before looking back to the two younger students "The trophy room," she stated again, louder for the other two to hear "This way," she grabbed Naomi's outstretched hand, beginning to run towards the back of the Great Hall, where the trophy room was located. |

| When Naomi heard her name being called over the din that was this attack, the Slytherin witch turned to find Humphrey almost at her side. Great, the Slytherin witch thought to herself as he put his life - as well as his damn sister's - in to her hands with the question of whether she knew a way out. Of course she did, she was resourceful like that, but she really hadn't wanted to have to babysit.
However, Lucy's voice cut through the retort that Naomi was about to spurt out to the Hufflepuff boy. The route to the Trophy Room was the obvious escape, and now that Lucy had told Humphrey, she was going to have to tag him along.
"Keep up with us!" Naomi instructed the boy, following after Lucy - their hands held together as they weaved through the other people in the hall. Hopefully, if they didn't bring too much attention to themselves, they might actually be able to get out of this alive. Unscathed...
But until that happened, Naomi was not going to be a hopeful. No, hopefulness could, would, cost her her life. |
