When Her World Did a One Eighty (Primrose and Jacques)

It's not that Prim wasn't willing to play along it was more of the fact that she was just too strung up to actually do anything more than be a snarky little bitch and an annoying one as well. The letters both pissed her off and badly too but it's not like she could change it.

"Crowd pleasing?" Prim sneered and threw her hair over her shoulder. "I hate crowd pleasing. I'm just saying what I think; father knew me only for a scant few years after all so what he said there was either to make himself feel good or to make himself look good and make me feel like forgiving him for abandoning me." Now that she clearly thought about it, she could make out little snippets of her life that she knew were with her father now.

"Oh I'm quite aware that I'm not the only one whose had a look at these but it doesn't mean that it doesn't make it any less true." She stated with a grimace upon her lips. "Walter Byrne was slippery from what I read and heard and he sounds like it in that letter." She nodded towards said letter before frowning and looking away from Jacques.

The thought of becoming something she's not made Prim feel horrible to the point of wanting to run away and just disappear but she knew it would be impossible; after all being a Half-blood Byrne made everything much more complicated than it originally was and she had no doubt that should she even wish to run away Charles Byrne would be able to find her quickly.

"Charles Byrne may be Lord Byrne but ti doesn't mean that I'll do whatever he says I need to do. I'm turning seventeen in a few months time, four to be precise, I doubt there's much he can do." Prim had a feeling though that it wouldn't stop the man from either removing her completely from the picture or marrying her off to the highest bidder so that she'd have a different surname; but it's not like she would agree, she would literally fight tooth and nail to not be moulded into something she's not.

"Yes, crowd pleasing. Pleasing the masses with a neutral opinion. Making your opinion less controversial..." Jacques explained for the witch, because she obviously couldn't see it. "And, will you forgive him?" Jacques prompted, he was curious, of course, especially as Primrose was not giving enough away.

As the witch spoke of Charles Byrne not being able to tell her what to do, Jacques started to laugh. Only softly, his shoulders moving up and down being more of the tell tale sign he was laughing than the sound. And, of course, the smile that graced Jacques lips with the amusement he was being given by this witch's clear lack of understanding of the terrible mess she'd gotten herself in to.

Or, rather, fallen in to.

"Please... do tell me how you think you can possibly tell Charles Byrne that he cannot tell you what to do?" Jacques prompted the witch, still very amused, and not hiding it. Naivety was a weakness, and a weakness that was about to hit Primrose Seele very, very hard.

Prim pursed her lips and glared darkly at the Slytherin opposite her, her eyes literally burning in annoyance as she held herself back from going off at the Clement heir. She was very annoyed by his words, not to mention she knew perfectly well what crowd pleasing was, she wasn't dumb thank you very much. She may be a Gryffindor but it didn't mean she wasn't smart.

"Of course not." She snapped out with a hiss. "Why should I? Sure he may be my father but as he wrote, it would've been better had he dropped me off at his brother's place. I wouldn't be in this mess to begin with." Even though she said that, she knew that within time she would be able to forgive her father for what he did; maybe not straight off but in a few years time she would be able to.

"Don't fucking patronise me, Clement." She hissed out, her hands curling and her fingers just itching to reach for her wand, her hair was already standing on end and it wasn't because of the coldness of the room. She knew perfectly well that she wouldn't be able to tell Charles no. He would be her Lord after all and should he demand something she would literally be forced to do it; it didn't matter that she was nearly of age, a family like the Byrne's weren't willing to leave an unknown on their own.

And that's what Primrose Seele was; an unknown without any protection or safety net over her. And that's what irked her very much, she was just one person who would be forced to bow to Charles and she hated that thought. She wasn't a follower and she would never be.

"I'll just tell him to go and fuck himself." She muttered darkly; though it was said in annoyance, she, and Jacques, knew that she wouldn't say it to his face. It was bound to bring trouble and she didn't want it, not now and not ever.

The Gryffindor was getting riled up. And, well, Jacques couldn't help but be inwardly amused by that fact. His hand moved to his wand, subtly and out of sight from Primrose. Just in case. Jacques was not about to end up in the hospital wing because of some temperamental Gryffindor witch.

"You'd still be in this mess. You'd just have been in this mess at three years old, and not have known what was going on whilst they pulled you from pillar to post at their whim." Jacques pointed out. Neither option was better than the other, they just had different merits.

Watching Primrose prickle at the thought of not being able to do what she wanted was a difficult thing to not find more amusing. Jacques sobered himself to save another outburst from Primrose's anger. The magical aura from the witch was intense enough, without Jacques adding more fuel to the fire. As amusing as it might be, he didn't want her to blow over again.

Instead, Jacques checked his cuff of his shirt, leaving Primrose to her own devices as she said she would tell Charles Byrne to fuck himself. It would never happen...

"You'd need the right backing - a strong backing - to be able to tell him that." Jacques told the witch, his point very pointed. Almost explicit. But the Slytherin did not look over to her. If she was clever enough to work it out...

Prim wasn't entirely sure what was going on but as she listened to Jacques the anger and annoyance just seemed to seep into her and no matter how much she tried to push it back it just kept coming and she knew the reason for that was because some people just tended to rub her the wrong way.

"Maybe then I wouldn't have been this pissed off." The Gryffindor growled angrily as she prowled back and forth, her magical aura literally coating the room. "And maybe that would've been the better answer to all my fucking problems." She hissed in annoyance.

Prim had plans, many plans of her own but at this rate none of them would she be able to realise; she had a feeling that should Charles come for her she would have to do what he wanted her to do but truthfully she doubted she would actually be able to.

The moment Jacques said that, Prim stared and blinked her eyes before they narrowed in contemplation at what his words meant. "Are you suggesting that you would be my backing?" She questioned.

The Gryffindor continued to rage, and Jacques merely let her do so. Watching her try to get through the issue was not something he should have been privy to really, but Jacques wasn't about to give her the space she probably needed in that moment. That would be much too easy for Primrose.

Seeing the witch stop when he mentioned having the right backing. The realisation coming through on her features, Jacques did his best not to look too smug in that moment. The least he could say for Primrose was that she had a workable brain, even if it couldn't defuse her temper, it could work out logic.

Jacques gave a very small shrug of the shoulders. He'd been taught not to shrug from a young age, it being bad for your posture, but around people who didn't overly matter... well, you could have small moments of informality.

Pulling his lip in between his teeth for a moment, Jacques ran his tongue over his lip, before letting it go. "I might be suggesting it." Jacques responded to her question, raising his eyebrow at the witch. "And you're considering it." He prompted, seeing what she would do, rather than leading her.

Primrose wasn't a person who actually let her anger get the best of her but in this moment in time the anger just overtook her and while it didn't actually make her go overboard, it led to her just raging and raving. She soon calmed down though as she realised that anger wouldn't get her anywhere, it's not like she could do anything about it.

The thought of having the right backing made her feel much calmer as she knew that the right backing could help a lot of people but with having a Clement backing meant that Prim could, potentially, be considered untouchable though she didn't actually believe that for a minute. With the help of Jacques she'd be able to actually say no to Charles should he demand something of her that she wouldn't even think of doing.

"...I am." She said curtly as she flicked her hair behind her shoulder, eyeing the Clement heir with curiosity as she wondered just what exactly he was thinking of doing. She was not naive enough to think that help would come without conditions.

Jacques was not surprised that the Gryffindor was actually considering his suggestion. Hiding a smirk with ease, the Slytherin raised an eyebrow at the witch. Waiting for her to say something more... but nothing came. Jacques allowed a moment or two longer to pass, before breaking the silence once more.

"But, you're not going to get my help for free." He commented - though it was said as a filler, not an informative sentence. If she hadn't worked that one out already, well, Jacques was most certainly not the one to blame.

"So, the question is, Miss Seele... what are you willing to give up to be untouchable by your uncle?" Jacques asked, wondering what she would come up with. Jacques Clement wanted for nothing, there was nothing in this world he could not have, so impressing him with material things was near on impossible. Primrose was really going to have to think about this, if she wanted him to help.

If there was one thing that Prim actually knew about the Pureblood world, and Slytherin's in general, is that they didn't do anything without actually expecting some type of payment in return. She was pretty much steeling herself for whatever Jacques wanted just so that she could remain untouchable by the Byrne Lord. It's not to say that she wouldn't meet with the man if he requested but she wouldn't be putting out the invitation first. No way in Merlin and Morgana would she actually take that first step.

She had no family for the past twelve years of her life and she didn't really need one, not now when she was just a year away from graduation and her apprenticeship.

The question from Jacques made her stiffen as she eyed her fellow Hogwarts student, her throat dry as she wondered on how to answer. She literally had nothing she could give him and she didn't know what a person like the Clement Heir would want so she decided to just ask him. It was something that she would probably regret asking but her freedom from the Byrne family was much more important than anything else.

"...I'm... willing to give anything up..." She said slowly, cautiously as if she was actually afraid saying those words anywhere near a Slytherin, much less Jacques.
