End Of Summer Masquerade Party [Invite Only!]

The first person to arrive was Roxanne, and Corbin smirked a little at her question. "You're not the first, but certainly not the last," he told her. "That's a half-assed answer, I know, but where's the fun in a yes or no?" He'd left it at that, instead slipping out his wand to aid him in arranging the bar, muttering levitating spells as he arranged bottles of liquor.

He didn't need to wait long; the second guest to arrive had already answered Roxy's question, and Corbin let out a chuckle under his breath. This had been the exact reason he hadn't wanted to invite Stephanie until her brother had graduated -- he didn't want them to rub each other the wrong way, which no doubt they would've done. "This," Corbin introduced, wanting neither to get offended, "is Roxanne, the Förstner heir. This is Stephanie, the youngest Richardson."

The door opened yet again, and Corbin glanced up, noted it was Madison's guests, and didn't bother with walking over. She was already doing it, and he didn't want to bother with whatever she had planned.

But as a few more people came in, including the Charlot girl, Corbin couldn't help but notice the look she'd given. "Ah, Severine," he called out, walking towards her, hiding a smirk. "It is rather grand, is it not? I would have thought you were used to places like this, being a Pureblood and all. But I'm honoured that this simple party has awed you." It probably wasn't the most polite thing, but when had Corbin ever cared about what was polite? Besides, it was fun, and that was the aim of the party.

Watching as Dimitri walked over to Lucy, rolling his eyes mentally. This was the other one that Lucy had invited because of his looks, not that Corbin minded, and he didn't miss the look he gave Lucy. Instead, smirking this time, he nodded at Dimitri's greeting. "What, don't I look amazing too?" he asked, tone dripping with sarcasm. "But hey, if you're gonna fudge Lucy, try the prefect's bathroom."

Then and only then did he turn to the person he'd been waiting for -- Elenore. His summer had been... more interesting than he'd hoped, and he had a knowing glint in his eyes as she made her way over to him. Reaching out, he took her hand, raising it up and gently kissing her on the knuckles. "Elenore, how lovely to see you," he said, and once again his tone came out sarcastic; for all anyone knew, he was mocking her. "How was your summer?"

Wesley's eyes had been moving around the taking in the details. Evidently in awe as he did so, too. There were marking on the ceiling - of house coats of armour, and the Ravenclaw found himself wondering who they belonged to. Perhaps the Founders of Hogwarts? Perhaps they were just random, they were curious though, being situated in this room.

Wesley's eyes continued to take in his surroundings, until the familiar unease of someone stepping in to his bubble announced itself, and the soft voice of Madison Bishop made him jump a little because he'd almost forgotten where he was. Almost.

As Madison greeted him, the Ravenclaw gave a small smile to the witch which most definitely betrayed the fact being here was more than a lot stressful for him. "Hi Madison." He returned softly, before contemplating the question she'd posed about the room. A slow nod began to form as his eyes took in the grandness of the room once more before turning back to the witch who'd moved over to speak to him. "It's amazing, truly amazing." Wesley supplied in response.

The answers were short, and Wesley's eyes would not stay still as he continued to take in the room, and then the people around them. Why he'd chosen to attend this party, he was still not sure, but here he was. And, Madison was making conversation again, so Wesley refocused on the witch. Hearing her question, the Ravenclaw gave a shrug of his shoulders. "Pretty uneventful." Wesley supplied simply. "Yours?" He added, remembering just in time how to complete polite conversation, even though he didn't feel wholly comfortable with all of this.

It was then, and only then, that Wesley's brain fully processed all of Madison's words, and he back tracked. "You know who the hosts are?" He asked, attention moving fully to the witch now. She wouldn't see it behind the mask, but there was a light frown on his features. He didn't know who they were. He only knew there was a guy in a Slytherin uniform that had supplied him with the password. Nothing more.

But, in moving his attention to Madison, Wesley did, for the first time, take her in properly. A light blush touching his cheeks as he decided that Madison was pretty. Dressed like that, too... But, Wesley didn't pass comment, because every time he tried to think of one, it sounded terrible in his head. And... currently, he still had a filter in tact.

Before Roxanne could even introduce herself to Stephanie, her words were, literally, taken out of her mouth by Corbin and she couldn't help but turn to him and say in amusement. "Thank you."
Though she was a bit annoyed that he introduced her as the Förstner heir, she smiled politely at Stephanie. "It's very nice to meet you, Stephanie." She wasn't entirely sure how well this meeting would go but she would see; as long as they were amicable enough to each other she would be fine with it, she didn't want to make an enemy out of the youngest Richardson, that was for sure.

"I have to say, your dress in amazing." She eyed the many ruffles that Stephanie's dress seemed to have and she couldn't help but envy the girl with being able to pull off that dress colour so well, with her red hair the pale colour would clash and would look horrible on her. "It looks beautiful on you." She complimented the girl before turning her head away, biting her lower lip to hold herself back from giggling hysterically at Corbin's words to the Charlot female; she had known that Corbin wasn't always polite but that just topped the impoliteness scale.

As Corbin moved to speak to Severine, Elenore kept an ear open to the conversation - without openly doing so because Merlin that would be a rude thing to do - and couldn't help but internally feel so very triumphant upon hearing his words. He'd dragged her through the mud, so to speak, with his words, and the Clement witch was so very happy for her neighbouring (rival) countrywoman being brought down a peg or two.

But, Elenore simply moved past the witch, towards Corbin and greeted him with a soft smile as he took her hand and kissed her knuckles very gently. It was ever such a gentlemanly thing to do, and Elenore might have been fooled had she not known him better. The French witch appreciated the gesture, though, because it showed that Corbin could be trusted not to mess this up.

Corbin's tone brought a small raise of Elenore's eyebrow - one meant only for the Slytherin before her, and no one else. "I'm sure you've been counting down the days, Henderson." She replied softly, her tone equally laced with sarcasm, but a more innocent version of the tones. "My summer? Oh, I can't believe you'd like to be bored with that. Parties, suitors, and much too much dancing. I'm hoping tonight will be much more up beat." She commented, though she gave him a small, very quick look of thanks, to show she appreciated his efforts in making conversation, and not spilling the beans, as it were.

A masquerade, how lovely. Violet had been rather surprised to be invited to yet another party, but she wasn't going to turn down the invitation. Where was the fun in sitting in the common room on Friday night doing whatever she usually did- that usually involved homework or something.

A masquerade, that would mean fancy. Thankfully, the invite arriving during the summer time meant she had some time to figure out an outfit and a mask. She decided on a simple, elegant black and white dress, with a black mask to go with it. She made her way to the Room of Requirement, keeping in mind the password, 'Persona'. Fitting for the theme. The entrance began to appear and she made her way into the room, finding a few people already there.

OOC: So Jake is useless, and forgot to post here... heh.

Another invite to another 'secret' party. Surely by now the hosts had realised that they weren't hosting a secret party, but more of a party for a select few? Not that Jacques had raised this point to anyone, it was just simply one of those things that amused him wholeheartedly. The lower classes were such trivial people, but, then, that was why they were kept to the lower classes of society.

A masquerade ball was not something that incited jubilation in Jacques, they were only ever a delight for the females. How many masquerades had he been to now... Jacques had lost count, but each was more boring that the last.

Pulling on a suit, and obtaining a plain white mask, Jacques had made his way up to the Seventh Floor and entered the party late. Not that he cared for being on time, that was a fool's game.

A fair few people were already there, but it was the blonde hair of the witch who must have only just entered before him that caught Jacques' eye. Violet. Moving to her side, Jacques placed his hand softly on her lower back. "Violet." He spoke softly to get her attention. "A drink?" He asked, because why waste time with small talk?

She hadn't been there long before she felt someone gently place their hand on her lower back, speaking softly to get her attention. She knew the voice before she'd even turned to face him, a smirk tugging at her lips as she did so. He was straight, to the point, something that Violet appreciated about him quite a lot. Small talk, more often than not, was a waste of time.

"Jacques," she replied, her voice only as loud as it needed to be for him to hear her "Of course," she agreed to a drink.

She hadn't seen him since the last party she'd attended, where it had gotten rather intimate, not that she had actually expected to speak to him, their meetings tended to be infrequent. It had been a small space, and if she were honest, the tension had been building for quite a while beforehand. Slowly, gradually and surely.

"It's been quite a while," she added, by means of keeping the conversation flowing.

The acceptance of his offer was not something Jacques had thought wouldn't come in to being, truth be told, and it was proved only a few moments later when Violet followed his lead without any compromise on the offer. Moving to the drinks, Jacques got himself one, and then Violet.

Sipping the drink he let out a derisive laugh at the words she'd brought forward. "I've been busy." He said simply in the first instance, because that was the truth, before elaborating. "And, presently, you didn't have anything I needed, so I wasted neither my time, nor yours, with a useless meeting."

The explanation, to many, might have been rude, but Jacques never wasted time when he didn't need to. Taking another sip of his drink, Jacques turned to the room as a whole, taking in the others there. His sister stuck out like a sore thumb, and many of the others he could place through familiarity, but none really held his attention.

"You still have it?" Jacques asked, not elaborating, because he was sure Violet would know exactly what he was talking about.

She took the drink offered by Jacques and took a sip as he stated the reason for no meetings. And honestly, she appreciated that he didn't beat around the bush. If chuckling was something she did freely, she would have at his comment. But no, that wasn't enough to warrant even a light laugh. He wasted no time in getting into the reason why he'd begun talking to her. Of course, the sword. Yes, she still had it. She'd been reluctant to turn it in to the Nightshades, purely because she felt as though it gave her leverage. In truth, the only leverage was that she'd be the only one to be able to find it in case something were to happen to her.

She couldn't remember explicitly telling Jacques that she held onto it, nor the circumstances that she'd gotten hold of it. But he had suspected, and certainly hadn't believed her when she'd denied it. That much was certain. Now the question remained, did she bother even denying it when Jacques so clearly just assumed that she had it, regardless.

"Why do you want to know?" she asked. She knew what he wanted, but the more important question she had to ask was why.

"Knowledge is power." Jacques replied simply, keeping his voice low enough for only Violet to ever be able to hear. Outwardly, he was calm, other people would think they were drinking together, flirting perhaps, but never know they were talking about the Nightshade group and an item that was very important to them.

"After all, if I have false information, it will hurt not only you, but me too, and I simply could not allow that." Jacques explained to the witch beside him, giving her a small knowing look. "That, and I think both of us know we should be considering handing the swords over before they take them by force." Jacques added, because Violet had been tasked with obtaining the Sword of Gryffindor, and thus far had not delivered.

"But, you know, if you'd rather go it alone, I'm happy to leave you without an ally." Jacques finalised with a second thought. He was a Slytherin after all, and self-preservation came up quite high on the list of his own, personal goals.
