| Caspar had spent his summer down in Africa on an expedition with a number of his Herbology colleagues. The different plant species available in the African continent were a marvel to behold -- even now, on something like his tenth expedition to the country. Taking samples of many and more plants, Caspar had added them to his research on plant hybrids -- most of which were his own creations.
However, as all good things do, the trip had had to come to an end, and Caspar had landed back in Scotland with something of a heavy heart. The weather was not nearly as beautiful, and the plants all so very similar. Still interesting, but ones he knew inside out.
Research, therefore, would have to wait a little while longer to become conclusive.
Instead, Caspar's attention had turned to his second job with full interest. Whilst he might not be the most confident teacher in the world -- being socially awkward was not the best trait for a professor -- he knew his subject well, and worked with that. Greenhouse five had been filled with Caspar's latest project, and though many of his students may not need the information, he'd written which plant they would be studying on the board as a prompt.
Abyssinian Shrivelfigs.
Let the students make of that what they would, Caspar had thought to himself as he checked on the smaller samples on the plant he was growing separately, checking on their progress as he waited. After all, Caspar never ever sat waiting for his students, he had much too much to be doing. |

| Janet hurried across the lawn towards the greenhouses. She was ready to begin her lesson but it didn't seem like anyone else was there yet. Unfortunately for her, Janet always seemed to be either late or early to everything. She could never just be.... on time. She sighed and adjusted the strap of her bag. You know what... she moved it over her shoulder, like a bag like hers was supposed to be. Well, she tried to anyways. She really ended up getting tangled in the strap of the thing.
She ended up whipping it off and throwing it on the ground with a huff. She regretted it a moment later of course and glanced around to see if anyone saw her. There were of course people there but she couldn't tell if they saw. She sighed and bent over, picking the bag up and putting it over her neck, strap across the body as she had been previously failing to do. She sat herself down in front of the greenhouse with the board and took out some homework from a previous class, beginning to work on that as she waited for the class to start. |

| For Ivy, school was a welcome break from the boredom that was Wool orphanage. She'd resorted to making her own fun, which included, but certainly wasn't limited to, getting some pretty new handbags, clothes, jewellery- which she decided to pawn for cash, and figuring out how to hot-wire and drive a car. She'd acquired help from someone older, some kid who was around sixteen or seventeen who lived in the area and seemed to have the same impulses as her.
As per usual, she'd had a narrow brush with authorities. And as per usual, she'd gotten away. Cops couldn't run very fast at all, nor could they climb or jump. They weren't very athletically inclined, and that, she'd found, was their downfall.
She smirked to herself as she thought about her summer escapades while walking to Herbology. Hot-wiring a car had been the most fun she'd had, well, ever. She'd be excited to see what might top it.
Walking into the greenhouse, she saw only an older Slytherin, and the teacher who looked to be examining some plants, was there. At least she was early for this lesson. She promptly took her seat and waited for others to arrive, not saying a word. |

| Cora trudged along the lawn towards the greenhouses, her satchel containing her books slung over her shoulder as she carefully navigated the trail to her destination to make sure she didn't fall over. She looked almost like she had just rolled out of bed - her blonde hair knotted and scruffy atop her head, unbrushed and sticking out in random directions. Her shirt was untucked and sticking out under the bottom of her grey and yellow vest above her black skirt, and her socks were not rolled fully up on her legs, one sitting just below her knee and the other scrunched up low around her ankle.
Finally arriving at the greenhouse Cora let out a soft sigh as she wandered in, noticing a few students who had arrived before her. She was about the plonk herself at the back when she recognised Janet who seemed to be busy working on something. Cora suddenly panicked that maybe she had slept through the class and this was just the people who were still to leave, but a quick glance in the direction of the other girl who looked like she was simply waiting put those concerns at rest. She grabbed her bag again and moved over alongside Janet, sliding into the seat alongside her. "Is it ok if I sit here?" she asked politely... even though she had already taken a seat.
She cast a glance towards the professor who appeared to be busy working on something then looked towards the board, her brow creasing at the note wrote up on there. She reached into her bag and pulled out the book on plants that she had been required to purchase before the year began and popped it on the bench, beginning to flick through it looking for Abyssinian Shrivelfigs. |

| After the summer Jerome had, school was very much welcomed. The weeks he'd spent there had been worse than he'd remembered. Or perhaps his mother had just gotten worse in general. It was difficult to tell. Regardless, one thing was certain, and that was that school was a much less stressful than wherever home was for Jerome and his mother.
One thing that he concluded at the end of his first year was that Herbology was certainly one of the better subjects at Hogwarts. Interesting topics, a professor who seemed genuinely passionate about what he taught... There wasn't much else, if anything, that would make it a better subject.
Walking into the Greenhouse, he noted that a few classmates had already arrived, and that the Professor seemed to be examining some smaller plants that he must have been working on. Instead of heading to the seats, he walked over to the professor.
"Are they the topic today?" he asked. |

| The summer holidays had been beyond amazing. She had, of course, returned to Grampa's farm and had the absolute honour of seeing a filly being birthed. She'd watched as the mare laboured, pushing out the tiny little foal and cheered as she finally managed to stand on her spindly legs, stumbling her way over to the mother and feeding herself. New life was the greatest miracle on Earth.
Then there were the many competitions she'd been a part of. At Hogwarts, she didn't have the equipment to train as much as she liked but she'd trusted herself and Phoenix and entered the Summer Series, the biggest Show Jumping competition in her county. It lasted two months, with competitions every week where riders were eliminated, leaving only the top three. She'd earned the very coveted first place and received the trophy. A few riding schools offered her scholarships but she'd declined, wanting to continue her studies at Hogwarts.
She headed to the greenhouses, feeling proud of herself and ready to start the new school year. Just as she entered the classroom, she heard Jerome speaking. "Well, duh," she said with a playful grin. "Otherwise, it wouldn't be written on the board, right?" |

| Even if Sasha wasn't good in Herbology lessons she still showed up in these lessons. She has learned that most of the classes in this school are some how needed in the future even if it doesn't seem to see like this right now. So the girl was walking currently the greenhouses where the classes are usually held. She had no idea what they will learn there today and she wasn't really waiting for the lesson that much. She just wished this year will be easier than was previous ones.
Once she reached there she saw few students there. She didn't really wanna talk anyone right now so she stayed behind of everyone. Sasha still managed to see what was written on board and to be honest that didn't say much to the girl. She has never been good at remembering plant names. So the girl just shrugged her shoulders and waited what will happen. She is sure once the lesson knows she will basically get to know what they will do today.
The girl was sitting somewhere in the last seats of the classroom, where was the still available seat. She figured she had a book of plants they teach here in Herbology lessons so she opened it and began to look for today's subject. Maybe she could learn something before they began lessons, so she doesn't look very stupid in this lesson. |

| Unlike the subjects of mos tof her other classes Koda found herself to be quite comfortable with a class regarding plants. She spent most of her time outside and knew alot about the flora that grew on the hogwarts grounds. She walked into the classroom to see that there were already a handful of students gathering inside of the greenhouse. There were a bunch of different thoughts floating around the room most of them regarding either excitement or hesitation regarding the lesson in which they were about to participate.
One girl's thoughts were consumed by images of a single horse who Koda assumed had to belong to the girl thinking the thought. Koda found it strange that someone was thinking of horses during a class that was supposed to be about plants but oh well. She wondered if perhaps this girl would start thinking about plants once the class commenced.
Keeping to herself, Koda moved her way to the back. |

| Herbology was not a subject that Florrie naturally wanted to go to. She herself, didn't see the appeal. However, with her parents constantly on her back trying to get her to broaden her knowledge, she decided to relent and finally go. Although, who knew, she might end up actually enjoying it. She hoped so, or otherwise it'd be a waste of a lesson.
She made her way to the greenhouses, noting the other students that had already arrived, and the professor seemingly more interested in his plants than with starting the class. She didn't know anyone there. Well, more specifically, anyone she cared to talk to. Instead she took a seat towards the front of the classroom silently, deciding to ready her things, even going so far as to take out a book to read while she waited for the class to begin. Hopefully, it would be good. |

| It didn't come as a surprise to Caspar that not many of his students spoke to him. He was both used to it, and not expecting such things from his students because he was busy with other things. He would give them attention when he felt it necessary, but until such time, his plants were much more important.
Such a time came much quicker than Caspar would have realised, too, and soon his watch buzzed softly against his wrist to tell him to get on with the lesson. Finshing off his work, the professor stood, and dusted off his hands, before turning to his class as a whole. Letting out a nervous cough to clear his throat before speaking to the class as the whole.
"Good morning, everyone." Caspar greeted the class, his usual nerves quite clear as he spoke in that moment. "Some of you might have noticed the board." He continued, motioning to the board unnecessarily in that moment because it seemed like the right thing to do in that moment.
"Today we will be studying the Abyssinian Shrivelfigs, now, who can tell me about this plant?" Caspar asked, moving the plant in question on to the large table before his students to give them a clue as to what they were going to be looking at. |
