| Cammie has never heard of a portkey before so Cammie was a tad nervous of the outcome and scared of the possibilities if she ever lets go. “What if i let go because i wasn’t holding tightly enough?” Cammie thought to herself. She does not want to think about it if she lets go.
Cammie gripped the shovel until her knuckles turn white because she does not wanna find out what happens if she lets go. She took a few deep breaths to ease her nervousness. She closes her eyes and think positively.
Cammie has never been to Egypt before so Cammie was a little bit excited for the trip. Cammie thought it would be a breeze using the portkey. She thought wrong.
As they arrived at Egypt, Cammie could feel a burning sensation in her head. She quickly laid on the ground feeling the side effects. “Never.Doing.That.Again.” Cammie said. She shook her head multiple times so she won’t see the doubles.
After a few minutes, she got up to join the rest of the group. “Thank God is only a few hundred metres.” Cammie thought to herself. She looked back and looked at the death trap that made her feel queasy a few minutes ago. She shivers as the thought of using that death trap again.
As they arrived at the tomb, Cammie was astonished at the tomb. Her thoughts were cut off by her professor. He explained the do’s and the don’ts.
Cammie looked around and took out her glasses as she couldn’t see the runes properly and took down some notes. Out of all the ancient runes she had seen, she only was familiar with Hydra.
To her, the Hydra rune is interesting. If she remembers correctly, the Hydra rune is nine. It’s nine because of the Hydra’s head. She felt a cold shiver on her back. Cammie shrugs it off and continues to learn about the Hydra rune.
Cammie got really bored and decides to find a friend. She looked around for her friend but to no avail. She frowns to herself and kept walking to a non-crowded area. She felt the shivers yet again but it was much stronger than it was before. |

As soon as the Professor began his lecture, she took out her permission slip that her brother had so graciously put in an envelope and handed it to the professor. When he began to go over the lecture and his expectations, she simply nodded and awaited the rest of the lesson to continue. And while she was wrong about them exploring the woods, she was curious then where they would end up going. So as he informed them what the portkey was, and some looked nervous, she simply gripped the shovel.
The commute via portkey was never a pleasant one, but she simply went along with it. Her brother had reassured her that no matter how many times the commute would occur, the tightness would remain. That's why she was pushing for her Apparation License, which she had (but only valid in France much to her frustration). Still as they landed in Egypt her eyes took the scenery in wonder. Many historians within their society always failed to properly talk about the magical wizards and witches in ancient Egypt, so as the professor went over the historical significance she had a growing appreciation of the subject.
But as he explained the lesson plan and everyone dispersed, she went along her way and walked to see something that would catch her eye. And there it was; her eyes glittered in curiosity as she saw a sapphire necklace at the stand. She immediately trailed there and bent down to take in the lettering. Taking out the book for the assignment, she began to look through it taking notes of the necessary letters. Through the assignment, they had mentioned that some symbols woulds be syllabic and others simple letters. So as she took on the notes she began to translate the necessary phrase to see if a spell would be protecting the item.

| Mercy made her way to the front of the group to hand her slightly crumpled permission slip to the professor. At his instruction, she crouched down and got a firm grip on the bottom of the shovel's handle, as the rest of the class crowded around. She'd never traveled by portkey before, so she didn't know quite what to expect, but that was exactly how she liked it. It was an exciting new experience.
Suddenly, her stomach lurched like a drop on a roller coaster, and everything spun before her eyes. She felt like she was being yanked by her navel--it was unpleasant, but she'd been in worse pain before, so it didn't bother her too much. Her feet collided with soft sand, and she lost her grip on the shovel as she tumbled to the ground and burst out laughing. That was fun.
She bounced back to her feet, turning round and round to take in her new surroundings. Egypt. She'd never been this far from home before. It was exciting--more than exciting, she didn't even have a word for it. Her exuberance manifested in wide eyes and a bright grin, which she couldn't have wiped from her face if she'd tried. She vaguely registered the professor talking, something about kings and tombs, and some names she'd never heard before. She tried to pay attention.
At the mention of potential dangers, her eyes took on a gleeful shine, her thirst for adventure awakened. She couldn't wait. As soon as they were released, she dashed into the tomb with a bounce in her step.
She wasn't sure how she was going to complete the assignment. To be honest, she hadn't even thought about the actual ancient runes portion when she'd embarked on the field trip. She'd neglected to bring the necessary supplies, like writing materials, paper, and her textbook.
Well, she had her phone, she supposed she could always take pictures of runes that she recognized--that amounted to the same thing as transcribing, right? She knew Mimosa would agree with her if she were there. She couldn't wait to tell her friend all about this--she wished the younger girl could be there to explore with her.
Mercy's head swung every which way to take in all of the treasures of the tomb, her lips parted in awe at the rooms filled with gold and gemstones. There was no time to pause here though--she was heading straight for the deeper levels, where the real adventures lay. The best things always waited further in, everyone knew that. Not everyone was brave enough to go after them though.
Mercy turned down tunnel after tunnel, a bounce in her step as she wound further in, and further down. The air started getting colder, and the echoes of her classmates' voices and footsteps grew more and more distant. She took her wand from her bag, and clutched it tightly as a gust of cold air hit her. She must be getting close to the center by now.
She wondered what she would find there. It was a tomb...she'd seen images of mummies in sarcophagi buried in Egyptian pyramids, was that what was hidden here? Would the mummies come to life and attack her like they did in films? She readied her wand in front of her, just in case. That would certainly be an adventure.
She kept walking. All she could hear now were her own footsteps, and her heartbeat in her ears. The tunnels were lit by torches, but the sconces were getting fewer and father between, the tunnels growing darker as she walked. She took a left, then a right.
And then suddenly, the tunnel ended. Mercy stopped as she came face to face with a solid wall. A dead end. She turned around to go back the way she came, and then the realization struck her that she had no idea how to get back to the entrance when it was time to go. She hadn't been keeping track of all the turns she'd taken. Uh oh.
Well, she trusted that the professor probably had some way of finding her. They wouldn't just leave without her, after all. Right? Of course not, he'd get in trouble if he abandoned a student in Egypt. She nodded to herself, confident that there was no need to worry.
Except maybe there was some need to worry, as the new path she'd chosen ended in another wall. She sighed in frustration, and turned back around. She chose another tunnel.
This one continued on for quite some time, going straight, and slightly downward. It didn't branch out in either direction. She felt certain she was going the right way.
Until she stopped at another dead end. She groaned, and lightly kicked the wall, not noticing the runes engraved in the bricks.
A rumble sounded behind her, and she felt the ground tremble beneath her feet. With a sharp intake of breath, she spun around with her wand held high, only to be met with...another wall.
It had sprung up out of nowhere, about twenty meters down the tunnel, back the way she came. It was blocking her exit. Mercy ran toward it, panicking slightly. And then she saw that, just as one path closed, another tunnel had opened which hadn't been there before. Without a moment's hesitation, she smirked and headed down the new corridor to her left, pleased with her discovery. |

| Sasha had waited there and also did listen what professor say there when some of the students had shown up here already. The girl could tell that this time the Ancient Runes might be interesting this lesson. She has never been in Egypt, so she won't be sure how much she will like there. Well, she has heard many stories about the place for sure. So she knew things might go easily or badly. Anyways she knew it will be fun.
Using portkey wasn't something new for Sasha. She had used it before. So she didn't really so bad once she had used it. So being in Egypt now. She looked around there and sighed. The girl wasn't at first sure where to go even. She ended up going to some tunnels. She figured she could find there the runes and she was right. She began to draw those into her notebook, so she could later figure out what those symbols mean. The girl barely knew any runes from her behind since she has never been good in this class.
Awhile walking she wasn't exactly sure where she was going. She probably should have gone with someone, not alone but same like everyone did this and she wasn't only one. Still, she kept just walking and looking for runes, even yeah she had no slight idea where she was going even. She probably was a lost already.
She didn't worry about it right now. She is sure she will find a later the exit somehow. Right now she decided to explore this place but mostly it was mostly almost same walls, same tunnels. Just the runes and so on were different. So she wasn't exactly sure where it all did go. She even got sometimes some dead ends but she found some other tunnel where to go. She just tried to find others now already. Since it was getting boring to explore this place alone but she hasn't seen anyone so far. |

| Breakfast wasn't anything special. Laid across a dusty table of questionable cleanliness sat a spread of what smelled and looked like overripe fruit complimented by a slew of bagels of different varieties. Who put fish anchovies on bagels anyhow? It was by no means what Andrei had expected when his connection said they would 'take care' of the meal. Oh well, he figured that's what he deserved for not seeing to the matter himself. Naturally, he couldn't do everything, but food was something—in his opinion—that shouldn't be messed with yet here he was, messed up food and all.
Live and learn.
About half an hour would pass before the professor swished his wand a few times back and forth producing one orb of light for each student. These orbs would then descend into the tomb and seek out the students still below and communicate Andrei's disembodied voice to them,
"Alright, time to come up for air. Follow this orb and it will lead you back to the entrance."
The orbs, as the students would no doubt find, would become rather insistent if they didn't listen. Hopefully, none of them got too lost...
With any luck, the whole class would find their way back aboveground without much trouble. They could then have a spot of breakfast and return to Hogwarts the way they'd come, via portkey. All in all, Andrei hoped the class would turn out to be a success—feild trips were always fun.
[Looks like I waited too long for other people to post. Oh well.] |
