The Start of Something New (Rome - Veronika & Jake)

The tightening of the witch's grip on him the first time made Jake wary of a fall, momentarily slowing to make sure she didn't as his arms supported her weight to make sure she couldn't fall. It was perhaps too many years of dancing that had taught him that sign, but it was also that expertise that made him realise her balance had never faltered to begin with. Peculiar.

"Yeah, I really want you,"

Oh those not so guarded words made Jake smirk to himself, quite pleased with the outcome. But even as she corrected herself, Jake couldn't help but feel really good about himself. It was, perhaps, a little mean of him to use her words against her, but he tucked them away for later no less.

Because the most important thing in that moment was the fact he was kissing Veronika. Feeling her soft lips against his, and enjoying the enhancement of everything in that moment. The manner in which she held to him spoke of many things, but none of which Jake was going to concentrate on in that moment, instead he was reveling in the sound of a soft whimper leaving Veronika's lips.

It was odd, that in that moment Jake relaxed, enjoying their time more now that things were becoming clearer. Well, clearer in what they were doing now, the long run was a deep, deep fog that he had no intention of sorting out.

The response to his words made Jake smile just before she moved back to kissing him. No regrets worked great with Jake, he could work with no regrets!

And he did.

Bringing his left hand carefully up to Veronika's cheek, Jake used his thumb to gently caress her cheek, fingers following the curve of her neck, drawing her closer as her tongue slipped over his lips. A soft sigh left Jake at that action, not surprising him, but making him want so much more in the moment. Jake mimicked the move, testing the waters briefly before he pulled away slightly. "How about I get us a bottle of vodka and we head somewhere a little more private?" Jake asked, because neither of them needed an audience.

Although Veronika had done some dancing with her fathers it wasn't to a big extent, and it was never in a way that included kissing. That was for obvious reasons. So she wasn't aware she had been leaning more of her weight into Jake until she finally pulled her lower half back a bit to not overwhelm him with her weight completely. If she could have thought normally she would have noticed that he had switched his hold to accomodate hers. Which would have made her feel positive because it would be for obvious reasons that she wasn't as heavy as sometimes she was scared to.

At the smirk on his lips she rolled her eyes put instead of pulling herself away, the haze on her brain that was making her feel so comfortable, so content, pushed her into pressing her lips to pepper his jaw with smaller ones, to shift his lips back to hers, just one last time. At his response to kissing her back she felt incredibly happy. These were freeing times. No thoughts of insecurities, no need to be self-conscious, no suffocating hatred of what had happened in the past. Everything felt new, felt alight, felt ablaze, felt perfect. A pleathora of pleasurable neurons were going off in her brain.

The sensations that she got off of kissing Jake were equivalent to being high and as they were so absorbed in the moment, in the glorious action of kissing, she felt heart that had been pounding and racing slow for a mere moment before she felt a gentle shove hit her. Not even a shove that would have heart her, a shove that was small and more like a shift against her, and it knocked her out of the reverie that kissing Jake put her into. Her eyes widened and she immediately released him.

The shove that was gentle movement along her from a passing person shook her like an icy waterfall cascading down on her.

She was kissing one of her fellow Professors, a man more than a half-decade younger than her, and she went slackjawed before she took several steps backwards.

"I-I gotta go, I've got cat-no-dragon-no I-I'll be seeing you." She said awkwardly as she manuevered herself through the crowd back to their original place as quickly as she could. Before leaving, in a quick decision, checking over her shoulder to make sure Jake had yet to catch up (thank you crowd of beguiled women by a handsome bloke who could dance, if they weren't there reaching for him and making suggestive comments to slow him down, due to his Auror and Quidditch perfected skills he definitely would have caught up) and feeling relieved that he hadn't. She took a pen from the bartender and wrote the number to the phone she'd left in her villa room, told the bartender to give it to the 'handsome bloke' following her. Then after grabbing her bag, took off into a sprint out of the place and towards a cab. In the cab alone she felt her heart still pounding and everything in her aching to go back and to take him up on his offer. Her every nueron, her every nerve end screaming and telling her to go back, and her fists clenched into the seats as she told the cab driver where to take her.

She closed her eyes and hoped, that by some off chance he would call her all the way home. Veronika felt just a little like a lost princess.
