January 2024
The new year meant that he was going to do some changes in his classes. For one thing, it was clear to him that certain class subjects such as potions needed to be taught at different levels. For one thing, he wished to create a proper class for students to learn from one another. He had a plan such as creating teams and having people properly work together.
The younger students had now also become his main point of concentration; if he reached them young and taught them the value of potioneering, they would be able to become better adept at higher level brewing.
The morning class meant that he already expected most of them to be sleepy. Thus he made sure that the curtains were opened to let the glare of the sun shine through the murky lake. It was not perfect, but maybe even a vision of the squid might get the kids in shape. Moving towards the front, he waited patiently on this desk with the words of the lesson floating in the air.

| The boy had made his way leisurely down to the dungeons. He had actually been able to set his alarm in order to have time so he wouldn't have to rush. He hated rushing or being in a hurry. The only kind of impatience that he would put up with was of his own making when he was wanting a result from whatever his focus of study was. It helped that he was very interested and vested in this class so made sure that he would always be able to attend barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Entering the classroom and the rather different professor, Gaspard took a seat off to the side glancing at the floating words in curiosity. It piqued his interest and had his mind already wandering to what it could pertain. Did it mean outwardly or inwards? There was a plethora of reasons for both options. Taking out his potions kit, and his cauldron (you had to love expansion and feather light charms), the boy sat quietly straining to see if he could hear the lake or any other sounds aside from their breathing. |

| Mercy's brain felt fuzzy. She was normally a morning person, but as the full moon approached, it became harder and harder to wake up in the mornings. She knew she must look awful--her face was pale, her eyes uncharacteristically dull, with darkened bags underneath them. But Professor Holmes would understand--he was one of the few people in the school who truly did.
So she trudged her way to potions, feeling Mimosa's absence--she had not been able to get her schedule to align with the younger Slytherin's this time. Her bag felt unusually heavy on her shoulders, but eventually she made it to the dungeon classroom and stepped inside.
She brightened a little when she saw Gaspard there. She greeted him with a wave, and took the seat next to him. She didn't want to be all by herself in this class.
Dumping her bag on the floor, she looked up at the board. Fire Protection. That sounded cool. She glanced over at what Gaspard had out, and dug around in her bag for her own materials, eventually plunking them down rather clumsily on the table. |

| Dominique was excited for the second potion class. As it was something that was in her blood, so she was going to take it. And this was something that she was good at. After she walked in she then noticed that Mimosa wasn’t taking it this term. But smiled as she saw that Mercy was there. At least she had one of her best friends with her. She then went over to where Mercy. Dominique then started to set up so she would be prepared.
She was making sure that everything was nice and neat. That way she would know where everything was. Dominique was excited to see what they would be doing today. The words have been fire protection spell, which would something good for now. Because it was something that one would need to know. So she was making sure that she didn’t get too excited. And she knew that she could always her Mercy if she need to.

| Professor Holmes has been called away from your lesson unexpectantly -- the third year student who delivered the news explaining that the Ministry is here for him, and asking him to come with them immediately. Nobody knows what this is about, least of all Professor Holmes, and the whole class looks to each other in confusion. What... is going on? Nobody knows, and the rumour mill that is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is conjuring up many and more stories to try to explain Professor Holmes' absence. Class now closed. House Points:Dominque Greene = 10 points for attendance Mercy Williams = 10 points for attendanceGaspard Kylar = 10 points for attendanceTOTAL: Gryffindor: 20 Hufflepuff: 0 Ravenclaw: 10 Slytherin: 0 | |
