| The season had rolled through with little to no progress. His Azalea's mind continued to still be away from her being, and Josh's persistence remained unrelenting. Something, somewhere, had to give. That was what Josh kept telling himself as Christmas passed without notice in the Murray Manor.
January came in to being, the fresh promise of the new year filling everyone's hopes anew. Joshua's remained unchanged. Hope was for the weak minded. There was only what was, and what wasn't. You had to make things happen. Things didn't just happen upon their own accord.
The routine hadn't changed, familiarity was safe, and to a person who needed something to grasp on to, Josh knew this would help his Azalea more than anything. For the first three weeks of January, everything had been the same. The same thing, every day.
For the first three weeks, it didn't pay off.
It was as Joshua was finished getting himself ready for the morning, about to head down to breakfast after his usual morning with his Azalea in their bed chambers that the Healer came to him, asking him to return to the room. Josh's senses heightened, even as the Healer insisted he need not worry, that there was news. The blond had pushed past the Healer to get back in to the room, knocking the older man from his feet. Worry evident in his features that something had happened to his most precious flower.
But, there, before him, his Azalea sat in her nightdress, looking as she always did when she woke.
Beautiful, in the Murray colours.
Nothing was astray.
"Master Murray, we have news." The Healer explained, coming in to the room after picking himself up from the floor outside.
"What?" Josh growled, his eyes not moving from his Azalea because something was not as it was yesterday. Something had changed, but he couldn't see it.
"The Lady Murray is... with child, sir." The Healer continued, considerably nervous in that moment as he watched the blond before him staring intently at the woman on the bed. Watched how the younger man's eyes moved down to the woman's stomach. "About four weeks, sir, you won't see any changes yet, except... well, I don't need to tell you that Lady Murray won't be seeing her moon blood this month."
"You're stalling." Joshua replied to the man who had started to babble. His eyes did not move from his Azalea's covered stomach. There might not be any visible change, but there was a change. The Healers had said this would not be possible, and yet, his Azalea was pregnant.
With the Murray heir.
Their heir.
"We... need to consider what could happen - what will happen - if the Lady Murray takes the child full term, sir. In her current... as she is now, the Lady Murray may struggle with the birthing process. We therefore need to think of-"
The man cut off as Josh's eyes moved from his Azalea's stomach to the man beside him who recoiled visibly from the man. "We need to what?" Joshua demanded.
"The L-Lady Mu-Murray needs to be aware of her health, of herself, of the baby, in order that we can ensure the surviva-"
Josh's glare cut that thought off, the man before him shivering with fear as he stood.
"Eight months?"
"At most, Master Murray. If there are no complications, we couldn't guarantee anything. But we will work tirelessly-"
Josh held his hand up to say he'd heard enough, before motioning to the Healer to go away. The man did, and the rest of the staff took the hint from his dismissal, leaving both of him and his Azalea alone.
Moving to their bed, Joshua gently sat beside the witch in question, carefully taking her left hand in his right. "Did you hear that, A-Azalea?" Josh asked, his left hand moving to caress the perfectly smooth cheek of the woman before him. "We're going to have a baby, we did it, after all this time, A-Azalea." The Lord Murray explained ever so softly.
But, before the witch could reply to the words she wouldn't know how to react to, Josh brought his lips to hers, soft in their first touch to hers as he rested his forehead against hers. "We finally did it..." Josh mouthed, his left hand moving down to her stomach -- which as the Healer had said showed no sign of change, but Joshua didn't care.
His Azalea was going to give him an heir. ________________________________________________~ Profile ~ Signature by the amazing Jess! <3

| It was a new day once more, the new day sequence initiated with her waking up at the same time she was taught to every day. The good morning kiss received from Master Murray with the same amount of enthusiasm taught to her every day, the quiet obedience to the staff who came to tend to her as she did every day. Nothing was different today as the doll was brought to be washed and cleaned for the morning, then taken to her healers to be examined further. Every day, no change was noticed and every day, she was dressed and styled and presented at the breakfast table for Master Murray's pleasure.
Today however, a disruption in the chain of events had occurred after the doll's visit with the healers who always examined her with combination of fear and pity in their gaze. This morning, she was not taken to be changed but escorted back to her bed where she was instructed o sit down. Had the doll been aware, she would have been worried. As it was, Lady Murray complied as she always did, sitting down gracefully in her lavender nightdress, her hair still a little damp from her bath and her skin pink from being scrubbed but devoid of make up.
Presently, Master Murray came along, his actions confusing and alien to the doll who could not perceive anything save direct instructions. The doll sat and gazed blankly at the wall throughout the exchange between the healers and Master Murray, her gaze only turning to him when he came to sit beside ehr, taking her hand in his, another cue to turn around and look at him when he did that.
"Did you hear that, A-Azalea? We're going to have a baby, we did it, after all this time, A-Azalea."
Had the mechanical being been able to consider, she would have considered what answer to give. The usual stock reply for when she did not know what to say or the string of lines she had been taught years ago should such a situation arise when Master Murray had first started being part of the new day routine. Memory loss however, was a weakness of the conscious, and the doll knew exactly the reply to provide.
"I'm so happy," the doll supplied blankly as he rested his forehead to hers, her chocolate gaze fixed on him but showing no emotion as she uttered the words. "I love you, Joshua. And I love our baby." The words fell tepid from her lips, even, mechanical, hollow. ________________________________________________

| "I'm so happy,"
The smallest of smiles touched the lips of the man in that moment. Only a small one because the joy of the situation was dampened by the worry, the concern, the problem, that both he and the Lady Murray now faced. The clock was now ticking to the tune of an eight month sentence. Eight months at the very most.
"I love you, Joshua. And I love our baby."
"I know, my most precious flower, I know." Josh replied in nothing more than a whisper in that moment. Many a man might have gone with the sentiment being returned, but his Azalea could never deny his feelings for her. After all these years, everything he'd ever done... it was for her. Only her.
Drawing away slightly, Josh pressed the lightest of kisses to the witch's forehead. "Get some rest, A-Azalea." Josh insisted -- though it would be taken as an instruction. "I have work to do."
And Josh did.
They had to find the one thing in the world that would bring her back to the world of the living.
Within the next eight months.
Or...
Joshua refused to think of the possibility of loss. Even on the brink of death, he'd never lost his Azalea.
And he was not about to start now, either. ________________________________________________~ Profile ~ Signature by the amazing Jess! <3
