The greenhouses of Hogwarts were a welcome sight for Joshua as he moved across the grounds with the Lady Murray on his right hand side, and the groundskeeper on his left. The man, who's name he had forgotten, had been talking rather animatedly about how Ms. Goshawk had given him the honour of meeting the esteemed Lord Murray, and alumni of the recent history of the school.

Joshua Murray was, as always, unimpressed by the nonsense spewing from the other man, and as no reply came from the blonde, the groundskeeper worked harder in his efforts to try to impress him. It would never happen, of course, because Josh's eyes were focused upon only one thing, the greenhouses that had been erected in the Murray name for his Azalea.

Back to the first site on which Josh's eyes had met with the witch who had been tending to her plants. Showing the tender nature in which Josh had found his attention referring back to even after all these years. The picture that had been in Josh's dreams whenever his subconscious state had needed his Azalea closer came to the moment in the greenhouse.

With his Azalea, and her plants.

"I can show you inside, if you'd like, we've got some priz-"

"Leave us." Josh replied to the man who hesitated for a moment before hurrying off.

Turning to his Azalea, Josh looked to the witch with what might have been considered hope on any other person's features. "Do you know where we are, A-Azalea?" The blonde asked, waiting to see if she knew... if she remembered...

With the news of that special new day, things were now different for the lifeless doll that accompanied Joshua Murray wherever he desired. Had she the capabilities of comparison, she would have noted how everyone around her was instructed to be even more careful, how the Master had made it crystal clear that his Doll and the life growing inside her was more precious than all of them put together. But the mechanical being hand't noticed any of it, she hand't even come to the realization that her own from was slowly succumbing to change.

Now the New Day routine included a few minutes for her to be sick, a process which the staff dealt with as delicately as possible before cleaning her and readying her for her morning meal with the Master. the bouts of sickness left the empty shell pale and weak. She was allowed to rest most of the time but there were times she was instructed to leave with Maser Murray, and of course, the Doll obeyed.

Today's exhaustion was somewhere unknown, as always. All Azalea could do was what she had been told, walk by the Master's right side, her small hand in his, a mechanical, pleasant but empty smile on her face. It was a windy day, the lavender dress that had been chosen for her that morning swayed gently with her movement as they entered the greenhouse and Master Murray said something to the other man that needed to be obeyed.

"Do you know where we are, A-Azalea?"

The Doll did not, she couldn't possibly know what he wanted her to anymore. Places and people were completely blank to the empty soul beside him, her existence only tied to one thing - Master Murray's orders. The Doll took him in with vacant brown eyes, unable to answer his question because there was no protocol here. She couldn't answer, only smile that empty smile of hers at him - just as she had been taught to.

The eyes of his Azalea remained blank as she looked to him when he posed the question to her. No, Josh realised in that moment as he took in the witch's lack of knowledge, her lack of recognition of the greenhouses that had been hers so many years ago.

And then, slowly, the small smile graced his Azalea's lips, which showed that she truly did not know what was going on.

"This is your greenhouse, A-Azalea," Josh explained patiently, as he always did when presenting the witch with information from her past that she could no longer remember. Harold Swanson had taken that much from his Azalea, but Joshua Murray would stop breathing before he stopped trying to make her remember.

"When you used to teach at Hogwarts." Josh continued, taking her hand and showing her inside the greenhouse. It was not, in the slightest, as well kept as it had been when his Azalea had attended to the plants. The plants, in truth, looked like they needed more attention than what they were currently receiving, but Joshua Murray was not interested in the well being of the plants. "Don't you remember teaching me in these greenhouses, A-Azalea?"

The question was asked as Joshua turned back to the witch, his eyes hopeful even if the rest of his expression was as cold as it always was.

"Won't you help me to tend to the plants? They need your help..." Josh prompted, waiting with baited breath for the older witch to recognise something in this greenhouse. To want to tend to the plants she'd always loved so much.

Josh needed her caring nature, her gentle touch, her unfaltering love to shine back through in her once more.

They were running out of time...

"This is your greenhouse, A-Azalea."

The words didn't register, couldn't be understood by the mechanical shell beside her master. Ownership was not something she could understand, not when it rested with her. The only concept the doll had of being owned was by Master Murray, he owned her and she did as he wished.

And right now he was giving her instructions she could not process.

As he knelt on the ground, asking her to help the plants near him the doll simply stared. This was not a scenario which she could answer with her standard arsenal of sentences, nor could she reply with anything else. How could something ever need her help? What was help?

So the doll stared once again, blank and empty as her master ushered her to do something she could not. And the empty shell would have remained that way had the sun not chosen that very moment to peek out from beyond the grey clouds, casting golden rays down in to the greenhouse through the glass ceiling.

Making the doll glance up unprompted, looking beyond the greenhouse... towards the back exit beyond which lay neat squares of bright yellow flowers marked simply with a few words.

"In Memory of Joseph Astrid, 1997 -2013"

As ever, when his Azalea was presented with something new, the witch looked blank, waiting for instructions to follow that would aid her in completing the task she'd been given. Except, Josh was waiting for the familiar surroundings to kick in to action her memories that had been surpressed all these years, trying to get her to do something that was how she used to work. Trying to get his Azalea to remember who she was.

But, his Azalea simply looked blank in that moment, not managing to comprehend his wishes, staring at him with blank brown orbs that held no life in them, and hadn't for the last nine and a half years.

As the sun shone through the greenhouse, though, his Azalea turned to the source, looking up to it with the same wonder, the same need as she always did, but not uttering a word aloud.

Josh followed her eyes until he found the source of their pause, falling upon the yellow flowers, but then the plague that denoted a name Joshua Murray had not seen for a very long time. Joseph Astrid. Joe Astrid. The muscles in Joshua's jaw worked silently, tensing, relaxing, tensing, relaxing. A mirror image of the inner workings of his mind as he looked upon the plague, deliberating under which route he should push forward now.

Would his Azalea remember the weak Hufflepuff boy?

Did Joshua Murray want Joe Astrid to be the reason under which his Azalea came back to this world?

No, Josh would not allow his Azalea to come back for another man, even if he was long gone from this world.

And yet...

The struggle in Josh's mind revolved around this problem for a number of moments, before he opted for something else. Something that did not necessarily push the potential spark of life on to Joe Astrid's table for credit. "Do you like those flowers?" Josh asked, trying to locate their name in the back of his mind. In the Magical greenhouse, these plants were quite the unusual species, they had no magical properties, but they were the plants Josh had always seen with his Azalea and Joe Astrid.

Mimosas.

But Josh would not give the name up so easily, wondering, perhaps, if his attention being focused upon the flowers, and encouraging the witch's attention, would push her to try to remember something.

Her eyes - once drawn to the patches of yellow plants - were captured by what they saw. For once in so many years not looking to her master for instructions but at the neatly dug squares that were seeing new buds forming, fighting with the winter chill against all odds. Fighting because that was how they had been planted, to show a weak boy how strong he really was.

To show a girl scared of love how much love she had to give.

The memorial plaque held little interest for the lost soul, her eyes only for the little sprigs of yellow shooting from the ground to soak in the weak sunlight. Tentatively, shakily, frighteningly, the doll took a single step forwards. Her first step in months unprompted.

And immediately stumbled, falling towards the ground, not even realizing what she had done. Her empty eyes sparkling hollowly from the streaming sunlight, still fixed on the field of yellow, brown and green that made up the beds of mimosas.

No reply came from his Azalea to the question he had put towards her in respect of the flowers. The witch instead looked to be captivated by the yellow blossoming flowers that should, by all rights, not be alive in the winter chill. Still, magic was a wonderful thing that way, and the life of the plants had done something. Something, but not something Josh could place his finger upon to give one single word that would explain it completely.

Josh's icy blue eyes remained upon the witch, watching her features closely. Hungrily waiting for the recognition. The spark. The faintest of glimmers of life that could possibly come in to being.

The single step forward brought a stumble from his Azalea, a stumble that might have been allowed had Josh's hands not moved forth to catch her, and steady her in that moment, ensuring that no harm came to his Azalea and their child. The faintest tremor of anticipation ran through Josh's body in that moment, leaving a light shake in his hands as he released the older witch, eyes still fixed upon her and her movements. Unfaltering, unrelenting focus.

"Do you know what they are, A-Azalea?" Josh prompted, motioning her forward to the group of flowers, and offering his arm as a steadying presence for her. It was clear she was not quite ready for this, but Josh was not about to let her go.

Not now.

Not ever.

The master caught her mid stumble, with hands impossibly strong yet never capable of hurting her fragile body. The doll didn't notice however, her attention on the pale yellow flowers almost swaying as if in welcome, as if they recognized the doll even if she didn't recognize them.

The empty void that was her mind paused for a second, as one brief spark of understanding entered her eyes, just brief enough to not be noticed or mistaken as a reflective ray of sunlight and an image of a girl and a boy swam into her subconscious, bending over the very same plants in he early light of dawn.

"Do you know what they are, A-Azalea?"

The doll didn't listen, and it wasn't the master's question that prompted what happened next. It was the pure dizziness rushing through the doll, the sense of imbalance a single, independent thought had induced. Her soft, glossy lips parted almost in a whisper, not her usual falsely cheerful, instructed, tone. This wasn't an answer to the master's question, it was her first word in nearly a decade.

"Mi...mo...sa..."

With that, the doll fainted, her eyes closing to the world and her frail, limp form succumbing to gravity or her master's arms, whoever claimed her first, her mind no longer capable of more exertion than it had already been put through. Azalea Murray was once again back in the darkness from which she could not escape.

Josh's eyes remained on the witch before him, never moving to the flowers, or the name upon the plague. Watching like a hawk in that moment as he waited for his Azalea to do, or say something. There had been the first sign of her own thoughts filtering through her mind with the movement forward that had resulted in her stumbling. Josh knew that much because he had not instructed the movement, and her attention had not been on the sunlight that his Azalea usually moved toward.

The witch took her time though, and Joshua waited patiently as he always did, watching, waiting, knowing that something had to push her back to him. To this world, and their life that was moving along in front of them.

Patience paid dividends, it was said, something that seemed to be frighteningly accurate in that moment as a single word came from his Azalea's lips. Not in the same tone she usually spoke, not in a manner that made it sound rehearsed like everything else in their world, but the single word was his Azalea. The Azalea he had come to cherish all those years ago.

Where he might have celebrated the triumph in that moment, prompted the witch further, or else insisted they work with the bright yellow flowers, Josh was not afforded that much of a luxury. For as soon as his Azalea had uttered the single word, the name of the flowers before them, her body went limp, not allowing Josh the celebration as he managed to take her weight from his Azalea before the ground took it up for her.

No panic registered in the Murray's mind, his hands moving to lift the almost weightless body of his Azalea in a bridal lift and back out of the greenhouse. The day had been quite enough for her, Josh knew that, and he would not seek to physically exhaust the witch now that his Azalea had given him the heir they both needed to further the Murray line. No, he would not allow for any further pushing that day.

Exiting the Hogwarts ground -- this time unaided -- Joshua apparated back to the Murray Manor the moment they were clear of the school, and deposited his Lady wife upon their bed. The Healers swooped in with their checks as Josh explained what had happened to his Azalea that morning.

Progress, the Head Healer had announced as Joshua watched the others working meticulously on bringing Azalea back around from the fainting episode, only to help her back in to a sleep once they had completed their checks in full.

It had not been Joe Astrid that had brought his Azalea back -- if only for a moment.

It was the bright yellow flower.
