| With the death of Lucy's mom, Jake had given her the space she needed, whilst also allowing the younger witch to contact him whenever she felt it necessary. The young witch had been vastly busy, though, and the contact had been limited to a few brief meetings and a handful of phone calls when they were both no longer busting a gut with their own work/lives.
To find Lucy was coming back to the mansion that was now Jake's home had been one that Jake was quite looking forward to. Looking after two small children on your own, whilst also working two jobs was something that took it's toll on Jake, and though his mom was on hand, or Victoria would pop in to help, Jake still found himself exhausted. The help Lucy had offered with Ivan and Adrienne had been a great help before, and if she was still willing to help him out, Jake would tell her she was an absolute gem once more.
With it being May the weather had warmed enough for the outdoor pool to be in use, so Jake had left a note on the table telling Lucy where he was, with the kids, and he'd headed out with Ivan and Adrienne looking thoroughly ecstatic in their armbands. Ivan was making progress with his swimming, though the six year old much preferred dive bombing in to the water and making as big a splash as possible.
Adrienne tried to follow after her brother as much as she could, but her legs couldn't keep up with him. She still, though, managed her own sizeable splash before she doggy paddled to her daddy, clinging to him in order to keep herself up in the water because she hadn't yet worked out the armbands would keep her safe.
"How long 'til Lucy will be here?" Ivan asked, before a louder "KOWABUNGA!" erupted from the boy's lips and a large splash hit Jake and Adrienne. Wiping the water from his face and checking Adrienne was okay before letting out a laugh.
"Soon, Ivan, soon. Take Adrienne with you this time, and do a really big splash!" Jake insisted, helping Adrienne out of the pool with ease as Ivan pulled himself back out of the water and took his sister's hand, pulling her away from the edge so that they could do a long, running jump.
Once again aimed at their dad, who was soaked but laughing softly as he helped Adrienne once more as she kicked furiously at the water to get to her father.
Moments like this almost made Jake forget everything else going on in life.
