Background

Evangeline was raised by her father and stepmother, having never had the chance to meet her mother, though she was told great stories of her. Her father met Nima shortly after Nima had turned a year old. Nima was very fond o the girl's mother and her sacrifice and grew to love Evelyn as a daughter.

Evelyn grew up a rather normal life, her stepmother being an Auror, her father, a healer. However, Evelyn wanted to be neither of those. The girl was far too interested in reading, though she did enjoy volunteering at St. Mungos.

Family Background

Nathan's parents were odd. Viktor, Nathan's father, was a Pureblood, while his mother was a half-blood. They found each other through school and it became love at first sight. They were pregnant numerous times, giving birth to a set of fraternal twins first followed by four other, single babies.

Their children grew up as normal as possible and they all, at the age of 11, attended the wizarding school, Hogwarts. After Nathan was sent off to Hogwarts, Viktor and Mindy were in a fatal accident. Hearing of his parents murder, Nathan was devastated. He grew away from his siblings and started a new life for himself, one that would be as normal as possible.

In Nathan's fourth year at Hogwarts, he met a girl named Evangeline, and boy, did she rock his world. They became inseparable and eventually began dating. They stuck by each other's side through all the school drama and through all the situations they went through. They grew closer in their relationship and after graduating Hogwarts, they got married.

Within their first year of marriage, they found out they were expecting a baby girl. After months or discussing names, they'd finally decided on Mirabelle Eliza Kovak. In October 2014, Evangeline went into labor, however, the news was not great. Her choices were to either go into an emergency c-section and deliver the baby while she lost her life, or she could have them abort the baby and live to undergo the procedure she needed. Leaving her husband behind with a kiss and an exchange of three words, she left to deliver the baby.

After his wife's passing, he went into a state of shock and depression. It was hard for him to care for his princessa but he did it. After her mother died, he changed the name from Mirabelle Eliza, to Evelyn Joy. He wanted her to be named after her mother as well as the emotion she felt throughout her daughter's formation of life. Recently, he celebrated his daughters first birthday. He still fights with the depression of being a widower, but it's only been a year and some days are harder than others. Eva looks just like her mother, and he couldn't be more proud to raise her.

Mornings were beautiful, they were a time to begin a new day. Often, Evelyn woke up at the crack of dawn just to watch the sunrise before falling back asleep and then waking up to the smell of bacon and eggs. However this particular morning there was no bacon or eggs wafting through the vents and she had missed the sunrise. Her Transfiguration book for Year 3 sat under her pillow as she had been reading it before bed and the tension and silence of their home caused her skin to prickle and the hair on the back of her neck to rise. Something was wrong.

Evelyn threw on one of her robes and sprinted down the stairs, her eyes still filled with sleep and her hair tousled up into a messy bun. The stairs let her out in the kitchen and after glancing around, she realised it was dark and no one was there. She hastily walked into the living room once again to find it empty before finally, she could hear hushed whispers from the back garden.

Evelyn walked out, allowing the mesh door to swing shut behind her. Her father and Nima sat on the swing, hands entwined with one another. She glanced between their faces. Nima's face held a hardened look while her father's held a wounded look, one that portrayed hurt and fear. "What's wrong?" Her tiny voice pierced through the tense silence. "Mummy, Daddy." Once, twice, three times she asked before Nima finally spoke up.

"I've been assigned to scope out the Blackhawkes." The silence in between her words was thick and Evelyn's heart felt like it stopped beating. "I've been reassigned. I have to go undercover and I can't take either of you with me." Evelyn's heart was suddenly gripped with fear. It felt as though her family were falling apart. A vise grip was tightening around her heart, tightening until one day it would finally burst it.

Evelyn didn't cry, instead she went over and shoved her tiny body in between the two of them. Her eyes looked down to the ground and watched as silent tears from her father hit the earth. It was a sign of pain, hurt and she didn't know what to do or how to make him feel better. Her hand rubbed his hand, her fingers tracing the spaces in between his. She tried her hardest to let him know she was there, she was there he couldn't shut down.

She looked up to Nima, pain in her own eyes as Nima's face began to soften - until finally it seemed as thought she too felt the effect of what she'd just caused. "Please don't go," were the only words that stumbled through Evelyn's lips as her other hand connected with Nima's not wanting this to be the last time she saw her.

It had been a month since Nima had been gone and her father was already losing it, she could tell. He had begun to work longer shifts. He had begun to retract in on himself and ignore her, he began to shut down and it hurt Evelyn even more. She couldn't live without her father, not with Nima gone. She loved him far too much and she needed to find a way to make all of this better, to show him just how much she wanted to help. She wanted to show him that she was still there for him, that she still needed him because she was only about to be thirteen year old.

When he had come home that night with an invitation to a Healer's convention in Italy, she had been ecstatic because maybe it'd get his mind off things. Maybe - just maybe she'd get her father back and things would be normal.

Italy was great, fantastic even. They would be there for three days and she would be allowed to roam about on her own most of the time, however she had not expected to meet Mauricio. The two had hit it off just perfect and had been attached to each other the entire three days. Her was seventeen and thought Evelyn was fifteen, especially since she never corrected him. He tried to take advantage of her several times but she wouldn't let him because she wasn't ready - she was far too innocent so instead, they shared a highly romantic, highly passionate kiss atop a lighted bridge over a waterway.

Of course her father hadn't known about this, though if he paid any attention he would have. The girl was beginning to feel neglected, abandoned and it would only get worse. She wanted love, she need love, she need affection so instead of trying to explain that to her father, she looked for it in Mauricio, until finally he stopped talking to her after a few weeks of her being home again. It didn't hurt her thought because at that moment, she had gotten everything she had needed.

However now that she was back, she needed someone knew to love. Someone who would stick around.
